    Any October 2021 Surgeries?

Me too! One week from tomorrow….getting excited!
  2. Stloser, When you say overdo it do you mean calorie wise because it’s empty calories or do you think you can still hurt yourself or stretch your pouch with slider foods? I plan to ask the dr this when I go in two weeks but just curious what others have been told. With this and all slider foods. Like salad. Is it okay to eat more salad volume wise if it is a slider food? I have been measuring it anyways just in case until I get an answer.

    Struggling with emotions

My surgery was May 28, and I'm doing well. I've lost over 60 pounds, and none of my clothes fit any more. (That's a good thing!) My new stomach tells me when to stop eating, and I'm learning the lessons. That's probably something everyone goes through, but there have been a few times when I ate too much and it was uncomfortable. Over the years, I've lost and regained 50 or more pounds three or four times. Finally, I think I have a way to lose weight and keep it off. I think you'll be happy too, three or four months from surgery when your weight is coming down. Good luck, and keep us posted.

Hello Chappers, I pray all is well. I think your just having last min jitters. Try not to think about what wont go right, and base your faith on everything that WILL go right in Jesus name! Just think about it soon all of those unwanted unhealthy habits will fall away, as well as the comorbidities. I am 3 weeks out, and honestly it is the best decision I could have ever made for myself. Already down 25lbs, and I feel so amazing. Although it will be work to go along with it, you got this! Just have a little faith Sister! We are all here for you![emoji93][emoji93][emoji1545][emoji1545] Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

Also, for the constipation: it's totally normal. Try taking Miralax (doesn't work right away, needs to be taken basically every day) or if you haven't gone in a long time, use a laxative suppository (not to be taken too often). Talk to your surgery center to make sure these are okay. I find the miralax works way better than stool softeners or senna. You will not normally go every day after surgery because you are taking in less food and fiber. My surgery center said to make sure I'm getting enough liquid and moving around enough. However, I'm doing both of these things and I'm still only having a BM twice a week. And, as @catwoman7 mentioned, the three week stall is infamous. I am basically there right now. This too shall pass!
  8. Hi Emma, I hope you are feeling better by now. I am also experiencing some of the things you described like pain after eating I sip my protein drinks and water slowly just enough to wet my tongue and swallow and even wait a minute between sips but it just kills my left side, its like a horrible stabbing burning sensation that stops me in my tracks, my back has hurt since the day of surgery and I am almost 3 weeks post op. Have you been to see a doctor and if so did they find anything wrong?
  9. Hello everyone. I was revised from VSG (Aug 2019) to RNY (Sept 2021). I was wondering if it is typical not to feel any restriction. I am 2.5 weeks post-op and I can easily consume 100g of protein since the day I returned home from surgery which amazes me as I could not consume 100g of protein with VSG until 2 months post-op. When I get hungry, I eat and I stop when I feel I've had enough and I always measure/track so I know exactly how much I'm consuming. I never feel full. I just feel not hungry. It's difficult to explain. Is it typical not to feel restriction? When does restriction typically come or does it at all? Do you ever feel "full" as with VSG? TIA
  10. I am 6 weeks post op as of yesterday. I had gastric sleeve. I have been unable to keep food down and have been vomiting. I am taking medication for acid reflux and something to help my stomach empty the acid.

I keep having this white foamy stuff come up. I am taking medication for nausea and drinking coconut water.

I am ready to feel normal.

    DUMPING 9 DAYS POST OP

I understand that about ER doctors, but the decision and diagnosis was made with my surgeon, who was contacted and provided with my chart. I actually didnt say anything about it happening "on water"--if you read what I had actually said (I am not the OP; I am a commenter from downthread), I ate scrambled eggs on my first day OFF liquids moving to purees. So I did not experience dumping syndrome "on water", I experienced it "on" Scrambled Eggs one week post-surgery.

it's the infamous three-week stall. Almost all of us experience that. It's called the three-week stall because it USUALLY happens the third week, but not always. Yours is a little early. Just stick to your plan and stay off the scale if you need to. And know it'll eventually break and you'll be on your way again. Stalls typically last 1-3 weeks. if you want to see how common this is, search "three week stall" on this site. You will find over 17,000 posts on this. And no, I am NOT kidding... P.S. I'm bored so I did the search for you. Here you go. We're now up to 17,501 posts on it! https://www.bariatricpal.com/search/?q=three week stall

  14. Thank you and yes they are plenty big enough to carry their own things and I have my husband. He’s not let me do anything yet. But starting next week we have to start packing and cleaning and the movers will be here in 3 weeks. It’s nerve wrecking because I am a control freak so being limited will be tough. We definitely plan on stopping every night to rest. Thank you

    2 weeks post op

Hi guys and girls Jenn here and I'm looking for some advice. As the title states I am 2 weeks post op and I have a bit of a stall. I'm not sure if its because I can't get anything but soup and yoghurt in or that I'm constipated all the time. I'm also struggling with my water intake, I'm managing around 1 liter a day plus the soup and yoghurt, oh and the occasional popsicle Any advice would be great Sent from my MAR-LX1A using BariatricPal mobile app

    September Surgery Buddies!!

Just joined the app and my surgery was September 13th. My liquid diet was 1 week of all liquids: broth, sugar free jello, decaf tea, water, sugar free popsicles and protein water. It was the same for a week after. I had a really hard time with the protein water and couldn’t do it.
  17. So, I've been disappointed this last week with my weight loss, BUT I have a scale that also measures visceral fat. I also started back to crossfit, which may have something to do with it. While I only lost 2.5 lbs overall, my visceral fat decreased significantly. Maybe take measurements? Sometimes if you're not losing weight, you're still losing inches. Foamies are the WORST

I'm about 5 weeks out from sleeve surgery, and my surgeon doesn't have me starting soft foods for another month almost. I've been on pureeds for the last couple of weeks, she had me on liquids only for almost a month. I'm always so surprised to read people are already on soft foods so shortly after surgery, (I'm also a little jealous - I can't wait to eat real food!). 19. I am 6 weeks post op and I had a mini gastric bypass. At this point am supposed to be able to eat everything but if I eat I spoon of something or the smallest amounts I get the worst chest pain and I immediately need to vomit! From the first bite I can feel the “foamy” coming up and it makes me more nauseous. I chew till my jaw cracks and I eat with a kids spoon so I dont know what to do tbh. I am so scared that I’ll be like that forever and wont be able to eat properly again! ( I can easily keep down liquids. Ice water is my best friend atm cause it help with the nausea a lot ). Please let me know if you’ve been through this or know what would help.

That hunger can also be pain from the long cut as it heals. When your stomach empties it contracts just like it did before and if those nerves are still tender it can hurt and that pain (for most people at least) is indistinguishable from hunger pangs. Filling the pouch stops those contractions and the pain can stop. Conversely you might be one of the people where hunger never goes away. But at three weeks don’t assume the worst, it still can get better.

    Why no iceberg lettuce?

Yeah I'm 6 weeks po sleeve and the idea of those dark greens in my stomach right now makes my guts clench! I really love salads and like greens but I didn't tolerate spinach that well pre op so not sure how it would go now. I do like Kale in a nice soup though, but not raw or blanched, and it's not the taste, I just find it too heavy for me! Each to their own though!

    Salad!

Weird. I'm 6 weeks po sleeve and I tried a bit of salad today, about half a cup. My tummy did not like it at all! I LOVE salad and have been missing it but it didn't really work out for me. There were some little crunchy noodles in it, maybe that's why, but I was a bit disappointed. I'll try again with just veggies, but I didn't tolerate spinach too well BEFORE the op, so not sure how that would go now. I really like lettuce salads but band for buck I mean, better to have your protein right?

    Foamies are the WORST

I had trouble taking all my 10 pills at night at first, too. They would start to just dissolve in my mouth and I'd herk them up. It would take me almost an hour to take all of them at first. Now at 3 weeks out I can take them all in about 5-10 minutes, but it definitely takes a lot more effort than before surgery, when I would take them all in one gulp. It gets better quickly, or at least that part did for me. Good luck!

Yeah, I am 3 weeks out and I'm hungry all the time. I wish people would stop saying "you will not feel much hunger". I'm following my plan to a T and it's not head hunger - my stomach is growling and I am not craving anything in particular, I am just HUNGRY. Even when I've just eaten, I want to eat more, but I'm afraid.
  25. It's a common stall that along with constipation most of us have experienced. When I experienced mine someone told me to stop putting Crystal Light into my water. I did and by coincidence or design my stall stopped. After your stall you'll lose weight and you might stall again. It's all part of the wonderful process of WLS.
