  1. So my surgeons medical group wanted to do an article featuring his program for their foundation magazine and the surgeon and his coordinator recommended me for the article. I got to do a photoshoot and they interviewed me for the article. My surgeons office liked the pic so much they asked to use one for their new patient info packet. Wanted to share some of the pix! These were done two weeks post plastics (breast lift/Aug, tummy tuck and brachioplasty) so there's actually some residual swelling, but no complaints here. I've since chopped my hair to above my shoulders so I almost want to get another set of pix done, LOL, to show that off! SW 271 CW 135 Body fat 67% current 18% Size 20/22 now 2/4

    Friday Morning Weigh-in May 29th

I gained this week but I have a thing I don't change my ticker because then next week I would count it as a loss and it wouldn't technically be but I went from 221 to 223 this morning. I was weighing 219 until yesterday morning when it jumped but I noticed that since Wednesday evening my left leg has been swollen so I don't know why I am holding on to that Water but I am. I had an NSV today! I ran 1 mile in 12 minutes. That is the fastest mile I think I have EVER run (even when I was a child because as a child I couldn't make it a whole mile). I am trying to get to 10 but 12 is better than 14 last week! I run outside so I don't have a treadmill to push me. Have a blessed weekend!

    NSV - blood pressure meds!

Congratulations... keep up the good work and more NSVs will come your way! Bee Healthy!
  4. The best part about my weight loss is the newfound freedom I feel to try things that scared me in the past. I was always worried and embarrassed that I wouldn't be able to keep up or would look like an idiot. Well, no more. Yesterday morning I went snowboarding for the first time ever!!! And even though I fell 100 times, it was a success just for me to get on that board and try it! Never be afraid to try something new and make the most of your second chance.
  5. I'm drawing a blank...what does NSV stand for? Lol

    Need To Know...

I am far from an expert but two things that pop to mind are 1) increasing your Protein and 2) maybe increasing your calories to 800-1000. As for being a slow loser? So am I. I was just thinking about this yesterday in fact. I am 14 weeks post op and have lost 33 pounds (55 including pre-op). What I have realised though is that I am pretty damn happy with my progress. It is 'slow' for the world of gastric sleeves but I have NEVER lost weight this consistently before and I am reaping the benefits. I'm getting a lot of positive comments, my health and fitness are improving, I'm clocking up NSVs very quickly and I'm on the cusp of being overweight rather than obese (I'm 5'3"). I've even realised that the mirrors I thought were 'skinny' in the change rooms I've been in recently are plum normal, its ME that is much smaller than I realised!! Honestly, as much as I'd like to be at goal yesterday, I'm not sure my head would keep up if I were to lose any faster. My skin was already too stretched to escape weight loss unscathed, but no doubt would be even worse if I'd lost at double or triple my rate. I find that our heads get so consumed with losing weight and how quickly others lose that it is easy to lose perspective. Imagine if a friend or family member had lost 100 pounds, or even 50. You (or maybe just I) would think it insane to be disappointed with that! Crazy!! The health benefits are immeasurable, the change in appearance would be huge and it would be an enormous achievement. Maybe its the Australian in me coming out but I'm finding my thoughts and expectations are a little different to a lot of what I read. As far as I am concerned you have done awesomely! Take a moment to congratulate yourself on taking life altering action by having the sleeve done, think of all the progress you have made (I've kept a list of every single NSV I've had) and think about whether you *need* to do anything differently. You might find that relaxing things a little has a positive impact on your weight loss. Or not. Either way, the weight loss you have had is nothing to be sneezed at and you are doing brilliantly .

    Help :(

Just got over the three week stall - mine lasted 12 days - the good side of it all is when it is over you wake up one morning and bam - your pants fall off - everyone notices your new "face" and the pounds start to fall off again - not as fast but slowly but surely. I have been trying not to weigh myself as often and sticking to the NSV - they are so much better - gotta go - my pants are falling off me again - must readjust for the tenth time this morning and it is only 7:30a!

    All this talk of....

Cleaning our closets out finally got to me, so I went in to do mine, and it is only about a quarter full now. Got a nice NSV in the process as well. 2005 I hit the lowest weight of my adult life when I went from 324 to 249.8, I stayed there for a couple of weeks and then started gaining again. During the that time I bought a couple of nice sports shirts that I really loved, but haven't been able to wear since, and I ran across them while I was cleaning. On a lark I tried them on and they fit. Now looking forward to the sale at Kohl's in a couple of days with a 20% off coupon in my hot little hand.

    Jean Size Down

Good for you! I know how that NSV feels.
  10. So true! I practically squealed when I realized I could see my collar bone. Then a week later when I had my doctor's appointment, I told him that and he laughed so hard! I consider that to be my best NSV till date! You look awesome!

Just have to put down in print a NSV I had today Yesterday I got myself down because my day started just like every other day for lunch I wanted soup and decided to have a bowl of onion soup...then another... and in each bowl I put oyster crackers in them...My down fall is pretzles and saltie crackers are trigger foods for me... so from there on it was a eatting frenzi for me...Thank goodness I dont have any junk food in the house...so I over did with good things... I woke up this morning with a fear OMYGOODNESS please let me get ahold of this eatting and not have a day like yesterday...( I swear I even dreamed of food) So breakfast I had my usual yogurt...ok....lunch time I had a bowl of salad with a C of cottage cheese garnished with some slivered almonds....4 bites in and I was wow...Im full !!! But I was scared not to get my protein in so it took me a hr to get it all down.... Then I started watching TV as I folded laundry....The Cake Boss....and they were baking with Choc...and OREOs....and OO WOW I wanted choc !!! SO I got myself a small SF jello cup....took 2 bites and really enjoyed and thought about the taste...I satified my craving and folded the foil lid back over the cup put it back in the fridge and I was happy... This may all sound like such a small thing to some of you...but for me its a HUGE NSV.... A year ago I would of had one cup cuz I wanted one....the second cup to taste it...and a third cup cuz I didnt even taste the first 2......Food controled my every min of my days...to be in control of food is the best......

That is a great NSV Dee! You are doing a great job and I hope I can be as successful as you one day. This is also a great example of one bad day doesn't have to mean failure... every day is a new day to start anew.

  17. Went to a casino here in SoCal to celebrate my birthday, 3 months sleeved (and saved!) and found out they were giving away free plush bathrobes -- OSFM (one-size-fits-most). Normally I wouldn't have bothered to even try one on, but guess what: it fit! With room to spare! LOVING my post-sleeved life.

    NSV's

I have two NSV's this week I am super excited about! 1. My boss gave me a few of her pairs of jeans about a month ago.. and they barely hit the sides of my hips. I was able to put them on comfortably on Sunday!!! YAY!! I was so excited. 2. This morning, i went to tie my sneakers and i didn't realize till i was almost done that my leg was not up on the bed sideways so i could tie the shoe but crossed over my leg sitting up!!.. I thought i was dreaming when i realized it. What are your NSV's this week?
  19. 8 days post op and continuing to feel well. Trying to get the eating thing down. Have experienced lots of head hunger and getting used to the amount of food that I can eat with my sleeve. Looks so much smaller than normal but still too much for me. Am able to get down 2 protein shakes daily which gives me a minimum of 60g protein per day. Left part of my ab is still sore, but not so much that I can't get around. I keep my binder on which gives my abs support throughout the day. Have had NSVs by trying on my preop clothes today...what a boost! Also put together collages of pictures over the last month...what a change! Good luck to all!!
  20. Ok, so I was barely squeezing into a 30/32 in avenue women's clothing prior to surgery. So at about 10 months post-op, I went to lane bryant's during a sale and decided to buy a size 18/20 (I've always been hourglass/pear shape), thinking, these pants will probably last me through thanksgiving (I've experienced too big pants that look like you 're carrying a load of something really unpleasant around in the gluteal area), and those joints fit....I mean they fit like the fit will only last about a month of two; what a NSV for me! Another NSV is two other people sitting next to me on the NYC MTA subway (ok so they, not the fattest person, but two other people on a three sitter is an NSV for me!).
  21. Wow, Rain - that's crazy! How scary. I'm really glad you are okay and that your husband was there to help. I'd say that's an exciting NSV about the hospital food!
  22. This past Saturday I went shopping for dresses for my two flower girls for my wedding in July. Their mother and grandmother hadn't seen me in a few months and the second they saw me, they started raving about how good I looked. The girls' mother even said "Your stomach is so flat!" I have never in my entire life been told that! That'll definitely keep me going to lose these last 30 pounds!

    I Laughed Out Loud

YEAH!!!! What a great NSV!!! I'm so proud of you, isn't it an amazing feeling??? Good job! Keep it up!
  24. I'm about to go say goodbye to my little summer vegetable garden. Even though it was small, it represented a huge NSV for me. Normally in the summer I don't get outside except when absolutely necessary. This year, I was outside every day watering, weeding and picking in my garden. I made enough of my awesome pickles to be able to sell enough to pay for the tiller we bought, and I made several pints of great salsa. I discovered that I like baked okra just as much as fried, and I made a variety of flavored kale chips. It's been a great experience, and I can't wait to do it again on an even larger scale next year! Now I have to go out and pull up the remnants of the plants and cover the surface with cardboard so I won't have to fight the grass as much next year!
  25. I have some necklaces that never used to fit around my neck... and now they do... lol... i was like in shock when i put one on today... so random but it was such a great feeling that i had to share
