    Who's in charge?!

Hi All, Thanks so much for your responses. Now I'm really glad I started this thread. I thought of it a couple of days ago, and something just kept telling me to do it. I'm still working towards that 4 ounces. I'm closer to 8 ounces, which is a big improvement over where I was. I'm currently at 8 cc. When I see my doc in early April, I have a feeling that I may need another .5 or 1 cc. We'll see what he says. I have to say WELL DONE on everyone's successes in this thread. I know I'm doing well, but I'm inspired to try harder. I've been looking for something to add to my exercise bike, so I bought the Reebok Step. It just arrived on Wednesday, and I'm going to take it out of the box tonight. I really think I'm going to like it. Not knowing that it was coming with a DVD, I bought a DVD, so now I have two! NSV - I'm proud to say that I've been without soda for 5 months effective March 2nd. Woo-hoo!!!! :hurray::confused: Anne

    NSV???

NSV "Non-Scale Victory"s are super important on this journey. When we become so scale focused it's very hard to not get frustrated by the numbers, so we can think about other things, some of mine have been zipping up tall boots, using a normal bath towel, and starting to jog without dying. Good luck =)

    Nsv Of The Century!

I almost feel stupid blogging about this, but had a revolation this morning! So when you are a fat chick, you can't just go to Victoria Secret for the latest and cutest bra selection. Me personally, I have found Lindathebralady.com to be the most comfortable, but they're not cheap. So as I've lost 41lbs the girls have been less than perky. I've been dreading paying another $54 for another bra. I know that's a good problem to have needing to buy new, skinnier clothes and bras, but 54 bucks is 54 bucks! Here's where the "I feel stupid" moment plays in. So I'm getting dressing this morning and like a profound moment of my entire life I realize, "duh, you don't have to use the last fasteners on the bra you big dork!" Being fat pretty much my whole adult life, I've ALWAYS had to use the last fasteners. I'm proud to say I'm on the first one! Not only is that exciting, but cheaper too! It's funny seeing things in a skinnier light! Woohoo!

    NSV???

Have you been shopping for new clothes?

Hi Pizzi, sounds like you're doing well though!!! Wow, your interview is coming up fast. I wish you all the best with that!!! Speaking of new clothes, I bought myself (gasp) a new bathing suit and here's the shocker -- it doesn't look half bad! Now mind you, I won't be featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated anytime soon, but for the first time in a very long time, I am actually feeling okay about wearing a bathing suit in public. Woo Hoo! That is a major NSV for me! Crazy Ates February Exercise Challenge 24/28 Exercise Sessions (16 Cardio, 2 Core strength and flexibility, 6 Weight training) Banded 8/07/07 Dr. Miguel Zapata, Monterrey Mexico
  7. Today, 7 weeks and 1 day out from surgery I had two non-scale victories. When I started this journey (August 2012) I was wearing a size 22 pants (women's) Today I can wear a size 17 Juniors!!! pants. Whoooohoooo. I was shopping in Traders Joe's right after that victory and decided to buy my husband a bottle of wine. I was asked for my ID at the register - I will be sixty on my next birthday!! In just 9 months!! I don't even care if they ask everyone for an ID - I just know it made me feel fabulous. Especially since I chuckled and told the cashier that I would be 60 on my next birthday and she didn't believe me. After seeing my license, she said I look great and I don't look my age. Happy girL! These little things make up for when the scale stays the same or only moves an ounce or two even tho I'm eating according to the plan and exercising.

    NSV for me!!!!

although I should be embarrassed to admit this... I was carrying the twins down to their room today and I had one in each arm...and I DID NOT have to turn sideways to get through the door. All three of us fit through the door!!:biggrin:It was really exciting...and made up for the fact that they were being SOOOO ANNOYING! Also, at the gym today, the lady in childcare asked me if I was losing weight...she said that I look like an entirely different person:biggrin:...but the crazy thing is, I've only been there since 20 lbs ago...and there are still people I've known forever who haven't said anything...go figure! Anyway...just wanted to share because it felt amazing. When I was pregnant with the twins, I was as wide (front to back ) as the width of the door. CRAZY! :tt2: Rain
  10. Isn't that awesome when people assume... LOL. I had some lady tell me "I wouldn't undertstand" what it was like to have a shirt not fit (she was returning a 2x at the store I work at). I was shocked... Go YOU on that AWESOME NSV!

    Nsv!

I am almost 3 weeks post-op, and have not had movement on the scale for about 10 days. I know I'm in bandster hell, I'm still keepin' the faith, exercising every day (my 5K is creeping closer and closer!) and so I was really excited today to have a real non-scale victory! My coworker (who hadn't seen me in three days) said, "Wow! You're really losing weight! I can see it in your face. That made me smile for a good 10 minutes straight! It was just what I needed. Hurray for NSVs! :-) But that doesn't mean I'm going to stop looking forward to my first fill in 2.5 weeks! Ha! :-)

    See you next week

Great Trip DeLarla! Love the photos. My wife was just blown away by guys flirting with her when she lost her weight. I let her enjoy that wonderful form of NSV, and all the guys escaped unharmed. Chris must be thinking the same way I did. "You guys can start it, but I'll finish it!" Is what I said to my self when they flirted with Patty. After all, they could all tell what a lucky guy I am. Congrats on the trip.
  18. A great nsv- keep up the good work!

When will I be happy with my body?

You know I want to start out by saying that I am going to get a little whiney and for those of you who cannot sympathize with Goal Limbo then you are going to hate this post. But I come here to voice my NSV, my SV and so I will post my whining too. I will attach a couple of pictures here. These are my 1 year full body pictures. I have my pre-op pics on my profile page if you want to see. I'm not at my home comptuer or I would upload those. I am so very not happy with my body. I'm not talking about the drooping girls in front. I have to expect that after losing 115 lbs. I am talking about my "big" tummy and the fact that from the side I have no waiste. AT ALL! How depressing is that? When I see myself in the mirror and in pictures (which is the real test) I am actually pretty happy with my front view. I have never had to worry about hips like one of my sisters. I am broad acrose the back, but that has gotten more propotionate lately and with my "sucker-inner" as I call my cami-body hugger I don't have a lot of loose looking skin and it help keeps the girls up. (without the sucker-inner it isn't quite as pretty ) From the side I have absolutely no waste. Infact I think my belt in is direct allignment to the girls up top. People at work call me skinny, which doesn't tick me off like it used to when I thought they were kind of making fun of me. I had a girl at work that thought I weighed 130 lbs. Okay that made me wonder if she was making fun of me again, but I don't think she was. I weigh 170 and I told her so, but I am pretty fit and wear a size 11/12. I would LOVE to go down one more size and hit a 9/10 comfortablly. But I digress..... What is wrong with me? What is wrong with my body. I am a short little thing. Only 5'4". I know that makes a big difference in the way I carry my weight. I know that one year ago when I was wearing a size 22/24 I would have swore when I fit into a size 11/12 that I would be estatic with my body. Now all I see is fat when I look at my profile in the mirror. Oh another thing on these pictures is that I still have a !@#$% double chin! WHAT? I thought I got rid of that. I will have to walk around with my nose in the air so that thing isn't as noticable! Oh I know what some of you are thinking....."What is she complaining about? If I could lose that weight I would be so happy I would never complain" Yeah, I hope that is true because it is what I thought a year ago. Maybe this is good. I have been so happy with my weight and my body that I have gone into maintaince mode. I guess maybe I needed to get to point where I am not happy to get my weight loss moving again. I am so frustrated, but on the bright side it makes me want to go to the gym. It is funny when I first hit this weight and this size I thought I looked good. I am starting to see how skinny girls can actually with a straight face say they think they are fat. I always kind of thought that it was a ploy to get attention, but they actually look in the mirror and don't see a nice figure. Oh this sucks. I guess I will ride the rollercoaster, hopefully get a few more pounds off of my body and hope for a waist line. I have to wait another 4 years before my surgery is paid off and I can get a tummy tuck/ lipo and a breast lift. I hope the next four years seem to go as fast as the last one!

    Fish for Supper

If anyone had told me I would actually enjoy fish (not fried catfish) for supper I would have laughed, 12 weeks ago. However, now I find I really do enjoy it. Made baked greek tilapia (breadcrumbs, greek seasoning, black olive, feta, tomatoe topping) tonight and it was yummy. I have been fighting the same 2 lbs over and over the past 4 weeks and am determined to beat it this week. I hit 275 last week but was 277 today. CRAP! Next Monday I want to see 274!!! I know part of it is because I have almost no restriction with only 1 cc after 2 fills and I can eat pretty much what I want, when I want and however I want. Not good things for me. That's ok. We're going slow on the fills and I'm ok with that. Will get another fill next week and hope that will give me some restriction. At least enough that I have to stop and think about what and how I'm eating. Again, I want 274! I also need to journal my eating. My computer has been down so couldn't do it and that's another bad thing for me. It's fixed now so no more goofing off. As a matter of fact, I'm going to sign off, journal for today and get ready for bed. I'm going to dream of 274  Oh, before I go, a NSV .... put on a bra Saturday night that was WAY WAY too tight this summer. It was snug but fit!! 3 sizes smaller:thumbup:

    Feb Sleevers - Check in

My surgery was Feb. 21st and I am doing great! I'm learning to live with my sleeve (which I love!)...but there are definite challenges. It's tough to get in 64 ounces of fluids, and I can't seem to learn to eat s-l-o-w-l-y. I found that I do better with four meals each day, rather than three - and that my sleeve likes moist/wet food. My daily calorie count is generally under 700. The wonderful "not even hungry" honeymoon period has ended for me, so I'm spending more time planning meals that will satisfy my desire for flavor. I'm using a tablespoon or two of sauce (carolina mustard bbq/portbella mushroom) to add some moisture and some zip to my tuna, chicken, and turkey meatballs. My "must haves" are protein powder, dannon light and fit greek yogurt (80 calories) and my "wand" blender. The most amazing part of this, for me, is being able to get rid of my too-big clothes as I lose weight. In the past, I've held onto them because I thought/feared/knew that I might need the bigger sizes again sometime in the future. Now I am confident that I will never be that size again! What a huge NSV!!
  24. I don't post many questions here because I am (in my own mind) a band expert, but today I had an experience I can't quite figure out, so maybe y'all can help me with it. Also: an NSV is a non-scale victory - a weight loss benefit unrelated to the numbers on the scale. This morning I drove to a liquor store up in KY (this TN county and all the surrounding ones are dry, so KY is the nearest place to buy booze) to buy 100-proof vodka so my husband can make a cordial he calls “stumpblower” out of the pulp he extracted from last year’s blackberries. At the liquor store I had to ask one of the guys working there for help finding the 100-proof vodka. He was maybe in his late 30’s, pleasant and helpful. After I picked out the vodka (I chose the cheapest because my husband's past efforts at making stuff like cider and fruit cordial have not worked out well enough to justify something like Absolut), we walked up to the counter. I gave him cash and instead of just handing me the change, he pressed into my palm and kind of squeezed my hand. I’m not sure if that was an NSV because he was attracted to/flirting with me (in which case he must prefer older women, because I'm almost 60), or just weird. Years ago I read somewhere that touching a customer’s hand during a transaction like that is an effective way to make a personal connection to them, thereby building customer loyalty. I don’t know if I believe that. I don't think it's something a Yankee would do (but I haven't lived in the northeast for 14 years), but that’s the first time it’s happened to me here in the south. I very rarely touch customers at the JCPenney store where I work unless I’m doing a bra fit, and then I tell the customer in advance what I’m going to do so she doesn’t jump a mile when I touch her. I love to hug my old lady customers but even then I always ask for permission, like saying, “Is it OK if I give you a hug?” What would you think if something like that happened to you? Good, bad, indifferent? Thoughts? Opinions?

    Lots of NSVs!

I too had a couple of NSV's today, first I crossed my legs while sitting down today too -awesome feeling! Secondly, when I was at the gym on the vertical lat press(I think that's what it is) I could push the handles down past my thunder thighs!! So happy about that cuz before I had to stop at the top of my thighs :-)
