I'm getting banded on July 26th and my doctor only requires a week of dieting before surgery. It's a clear liquid only diet and was told to get a clear liquid Protein drink. All I can find are colored shakes. Anyone have any idea of what I can get? Thanks Darci Shannon

Being Hopeful Is One Thing. Mathews Said He Also Feels Realistic
flydancing posted a blog entry in flydancing's Blog
Being hopeful is one thing. Mathews said he also feels realistic. Jones-Drew (De La Salle High) ended a 38-day holdout Sunday without a new contract. Professional football resumes this week, and not a day too soon. Now, while trying to get off the fantasy Mike Williams Elite Jersey football "Do Not Draft" list, here's a look at the week just past: Other notable cuts included: About 140 NFL concussion lawsuits have been consolidated in federal court in Philadelphia before U.S. District Judge Anita B. Brody. Unless Brody agrees to dismiss them early on, or an umbrella settlement is reached, she will likely decide what evidence can be used at trial, whether a class can be certified for medical monitoring and other pretrial issues. The cases might then return to their home district for trial. Ryan Torain and Keiland Williams have been among the hopefuls who have started games since then and are no longer with the team. McCoy, who made 21 starts over the past two seasons, lost his job early in training camp to the 28-year-old Weeden, a first-round draft pick. McCoy's future with Cleveland seemed bleak but he played well during the exhibition season, embraced his role and the Browns decided to keep him over Wallace, who spent the past two seasons as No. 2 QB and part-time starter. In four preseason games, Edwards completed 54 of 80 passes for 489 yards, four touchdowns, zero interceptions, and a passer rating of 100.5. Other veterans released as teams prepare for the regular season, included 2005 Super Bowl MVP receiver Deion Branch and center Dan Koppen in New England; defensive backs Joselio Hanson and O.J. Atogwe in Philadelphia; Pittsburgh offensive Wes Welker Jerseys lineman Trai Essex and punter Jeremy Kapinos, who were waived injured; Buffalo defensive tackle Dwan Edwards; and Giants running back D.J. Ware, who won two Super Bowls with the team. All teams had to reach the reach the 53-man maximum by Friday night. Five notes on the St. Louis Rams from our recently Dane Sanzenbacher Jerseys published 2012 preview page: New starting center Ryan Wendell, one of four players who handled the position last year when Dan Koppen was injured in the first game, said much of what he knows about the position he gleaned from playing alongside Koppen. OK, I've just eliminated 30 teams. Let's focus on the final two, and pick a winner… Just as important, the Shonn Greene Elite Jersey Bills are already down one backup cornerback in rookie Ron Brooks, who had foot surgery last week and is expected to miss about two months. That leaves McGee expected to fill the fourth cornerback spot behind Leodis McKelvin. -

I had some terrible breakouts right after surgery as well.. It took a few weeks but after everthing leveled out but now my skin is ALMOST flawless... Give it a few weeks.. I think it's just hormones and your body adjusting to change.. -
I just got mine in the mail about a week ago. Haven't been able to start yet (just had my gallbladder out) but I'm really excited. I've used the firm videos before and always seen results when I stuck with them but each video was 55 minutes and I just couldn't fit them into my day. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

4 days post op and I ate an egg white!

Bariatric Eating has an unflavored Protein (it's called PURE) that is outstanding. Add it to broth---but stick to liquids if that is what you were told to do. My doctor has his patients start on pureed protein on Day Three--but there's no way of knowing if my doctor's surgical technique differs from yours. Your surgeon gave you instructions based on what he did to your body--and you need to follow them. Find a way to stick to it. (The bullets are made of protein that is not as bioavailable--readily used by the body---as whey protein isolate. It's better to find a low-volume whey protein option; bariatriceating.com's Inspire and PURE lines require just 4 oz. of liquid--and are very good. I happen to like them with more liquid--but that's just me. I drink the Dutch chocolate protein warmed and it's something I look forward to rather than dread--and I never wanted to see a protein shake again, either. These changed my mind.) -
What ElfiePoo ^ said. If you pay attention to your post-surgery diet, you may end up dropping your diabetes meds. I was diagnosed Type 2 a couple of years ago and put on Metformin and Amaryl. As I dieted during the ramp up for my banding, I was taken off Amaryl due to good blood numbers, then my Metformin dose was cut in half post-surgery, and as of last week I am now off all diabetes and blood pressure meds. Banding is not a magic bullet - you still have to eat right, but the band gave me the edge I needed to get the ball rolling.

That is great. I am kind of lucky where I have only had 2 stuck items. I have heard that a lot of people have one at least once a week. Guess we are eating the right foods. Keep up the good work and you will have new name ........ Yound and thin....... Judy

No. A week or so after surgery, it ran slightly high. Since then it has been FABULOUS. (Except for the times my pump malfunctions.) -

I'm not really having any health issues aside from asthma, but I guess just feeling that I've done all this work to only be able to take off 48 lbs and still be obese after 3 years., somethings gotta give but my body seems to be on strike as far as what it wants to lose even though I still feel that there are a lot of things that I can't do. I don't sit around like a lump on a log I'm very active, I walk and bike everywhere but as an example, I still can't do a cartwheel without feeling like my body will collapse upon itself. After having a physical 2 weeks ago and seeing the summary still classifying me as obese it makes a person take another look at themself and want to complete the work they started, especially when it is something like this Sent from my SM-J260T1 using BariatricPal mobile app -

I am having the SAME issue. I'm a month out from surgery- and by the time my period came around I literally had like 8 pimples on my face- and I usually don't break out at all. It's gotta be the hormones. I'm going to go on some form of birth control when I see my lady dr next week- so I'm hoping that helps. Have you considered that? -
1 week out from surgery and new here!

Hello Everyone! I am so excited to finally have begun my journey! I looked into banding about 3 years ago, and vowed that someday I would do it for me, for my health. BUT I didn't see a way that I could do this unless we had insurance. Two years ago, we got the insurance, but unfortunately my then 13 year old daughter was diagnosed with brain stem cancer, so obviously and rightly so, all of our financial and emotional resources went to helping our daughter. This year, I finally took the plunge and started the process. I started in June 2010, and things proceeded slowly, but finally got approval from insurance and the timing was finally right considering my daughters condition. I had surgery Dec. 9th! I am so thrilled that I took the plunge. I had a few jitters, but kept repeating the words that I read in my approval letter from insurance..."this surgery is medically necessary." I'm SO GLAD I did it! Including the weight that I dropped on pre-op diet and this week alone, I am down 30 lbs. I never would have imagined ME losing that much weight. All I've known is gain, gain, gain. It is so fun seeing the scale go THE OTHER WAY!!! The thing I'm battling right now is I did catch a cold/virus. I've got a red,raw throat and have been coughing like crazy. My port sight is SO sore anyway, but then add the coughing to it and I just have felt rotten. I called the doc office today and they told me to stay with consistent doses of my pain med as it also has a cough suppressant in it. Thankfully that has helped considerably. I have learned a lot just reading posts and replies from people. I think this will definitely help make this journey easier! BTW...how do you get the weight trackers into your sig line?? Thanks! I'm also stalled. 6 weeks post op and starving! My first fill is next week. Can't wait to hear how it's all going for you guys. Good thoughts to you both!

2 Weeks Tomorrow

Sorry, it cut off! I have had not issues getting in my proteins and most of my water. I am back to work (desk job) and have been getting in a few miles most days. Now the not so good, I made a delicious 17 bean soup with turkey sausage yesterday, I cooked it forever so everything was super soft. It had all the normal spices so it was delicious (I have been cooking a lot of homemade soups and stews and mashing them up and they are great. They are also great because my young kids, mom and most friends don't know I had the surgery so it is easy for them to miss that I am eating anything differently than then. So what is not good? As I was cleaning up from dinner and putting the soup away I took three good sized bites of the soup (old habit). I am now experiencing my first "overfill" and it STINKS. I feel like food is stuck in my chest and I can't get it down. I had also team a drink%2 -
Hi Mel, I am right there with you. My appointment is Wednesday and I will be just over four weeks from surgery. Have not felt a return of hunger until very recently -- have noticed in last week to ten days that I am hungry again sooner, although I'm still satisfied on a small portion. My weight loss has stalled. Could be a small plateau or I am taking in too many calories. I look forward to discussing all this with the doctor. A bit nervous about a fill as I've been doing so well and don't want to rock the boat. Good luck to you Tuesday -- let's compare notes!

Surgery was Monday in Mexico, and after a few days of pain and suffering, I am back home and recovering. I did have some regrets after surgery, but im sure that is normal :001_tongue: Now i'm just working on the yogurt and chicken broth and juices, ready to get my energy back so i can get to exercising again! I hope that everyone is doing well!! Oh, and 7 lbs down in one week! Mostly Water weight of course but it is so nice to just see the scale go DOWN instead of up for once!! Jillian

I haven't been banded yet, so have no advice. However, I just had to tell you what a wonderful person you are to be so concerned about your sister's comfort and needs! I don't live near my family, and after hearing today how my oldest brother snubbed my parents at a function last week, you really warmed my heart with your post! Your sister is very lucky to have you!

Hello, at the end of my journey I would have lost 120 lbs. I lost 30 lbs post op. I've been banded since June and have lost just over 30 lbs. I'm considered a slow loser at 1 lb per week. Best of luck to you. -
I had my first fill this past Tuesday...(I was given 1 cc in a 10 cc band.) My doc said to come back in 6 weeks for another fill. I did feel some restriction for the first day or so. I am going to ride it out for another week or so to see what happens with my restriction before I call the doctor's office to get in sooner than 6 weeks. Good luck to you.

I am told to wait a week to reschedule because many people do have a delayed reaction to their fills.

Hi I just got banded on 9/12 and the worst so far is the pain in my neck - but have not had the depression - well maybe once or twice when I was on the clear liguids - and I quickly called my dietician in Mexico and she said to go to soft foods - once I started eating cream of wheat wow what a joy - I had trouble sleeping also and that pillow sort of flat idea helps to take away the pressure - but as of this past Wednesday I can now sleep on my stomach and on the side of the port - my port was really sore until about yesterday and it is geting better everyday - I had to take a week off of work but this 2nd week getting out and active again really helped - try it it does work - I am now down 15 lbs in 2 weeks and it feels so good - also prune juice helps lol :-) if ya know what I mean - I am also finding out that I cannot eat more than 3 oz of food or I get the gas pains in my neck again - please keep us informed - are you still on Clear liquids - go to fulls it will help I promise - Best Regards - Amy:thumbup::thumbup: -

im now 3 weeks post op and the port site has finally settled and i dont feel it unless i bend down iv been sleeping on my side since the first week but i roll a duvet[i think you call them something different] and throw my leg over it that way im on my side but not to flat and it worked wonders. your eating will settle too im now eating completly normally with no restriction at all just waiting for my first fill now dont worry it will get better hang in there -
Okay so... as we all know from my last few posts I have fallen off the diet wagon since booking my surgery date last month, but I have still been keeping to my work out routine which consists of running 4 times a week (plus whatever I do with the kids I teach twice a week in gym- not a lot since they are lazy but I'm working on physical fitness with them). I moved my surgery date up from March to Jan 21st... I am excited but I think right now more scared, and nervous! If I have fallen off the diet wagon now, what makes me think I can keep to the much more strict routine and diet post op? I'm just second guessing myself right now... did anyone else feel this way?

Congrats on your surgery! I'm no doctor and I haven't been banded yet (can't wait!) but I've read on here that there were people who were still a little uncomfortable 2 weeks out but are fine now. Maybe you're a slow healer? Make sure you're taking it easy and try not to be depressed. You did a great thing for yourself. You just need to give it a chance to heal. Being depressed will make it take that much longer. Are you walking? I'm sure that would help with the healing and the depression. Good luck!
