? When hair grow back if loss

I hear the hair loss slows down dramatically when your weight loss slows down. Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App
  3. I'm 8 weeks post op. I seem to have heck getting my first goal of 300. On monday I was 304. Today, weds, I'm 306. It's like my body is doing the same ol song and dance it used to. Not very promising seeing so many at the same timeline as me dropping like crazy. Anyone else have this problem? What do yall do to get going again? 5' 11" OP 9/16/19 HW 365 PO 343 CW 304
  4. There's no way to target weight loss. All you can do is to continue to lose weight overall and try to get your body fat percentage down.
  5. Well it's been about a month since I started thinking about LB, and a couple weeks since I really got serious about it and started my journey (hoping to get banded 3/09). I have to admit - I have succumbed to the "last supper" syndrome and have been letting myself eat more than I usually would because I am feeling like I "can't" or "won't be able to" eat this stuff after the band. Even worse is that it was my birthday last week so perfect excuse for dinners out and cake (yummmm) :cool2:. The best part is that I've been boozin it up too, and I can tell, my ankles are swollen like sausages (I'm sure my hormones are helping with the swelling too). I love love LOVE beer and wine but know how many dang calories are in there. In any case - NO MORE LAST SUPPER! What the heck is wrong with me? I'll just have to lose MORE weight if I keep eating like this... So yeah, no more, I am back to eating healthy and will go to the gym twice this week, dangit! *sigh* It sounds weird - but I can't wait for the psychologist. I don't have what I consider "serious" eating issues, but obviously I have some challenges with control, etc. and would like to get started on those mental/emotional things while I prepare to get the physical tool to help me lose weight once and for all. I know I'm not crazy - any tips on how to stay away from last supper dilemmas?
  6. Gosh, what a loaded question! Just like Donna said - I wasnt living life to the fullest when I was heavy. I go to water-parks without being freaked out that "people are looking at me". I dont even notice that stuff anymore. Or the "am I the biggst one here?" question we all wonder when we are MO. Its given me a completely different mindset of when I was MO. I now have the confidence to look people in the eyes and begin a converstaion INSTEAD of waiting for people to speak to ME first. Perfect example: About 2 weeks ago I saw a guy I graduated with... 18 years ago (wow!) Im now about 10 pounds lighter then I was back then. He and I stood and talked for the longest about where weve been for 18 years - and I never felt embarrassed or uncomfortable conversing with him. And I could tell that he was equally interested and excited in visiting with me. That was neat. If I hadnt lost 70ish pounds with my band, I wouldnt have felt comfortable enough to talk to him. I wouldve either avoided him or just made small talk and moved on. Anyway, there's a whole lot of great personality changes that happen when you lose a big amount of weight. Its actually every aspect of your life that changes... not just personality, but clothing styles change, sex life changes, the way other people interact with you. Its awesome. Honestly!

    pre op diet

I hope to be banded in February. Because of potential fatty liver of his patients, my surgeon requires 10 days of 1000 calorie or less diet then 2 days of a liquid diet prior to the surgery. Although, really I don't think I would mind a longer liquid diet. Many of my so called "successful" weight loss attempts were long term liquid - usually water only - fasts. But then, to no one's surprise the weight all came back on. So, now I am here.
  8. HI, I am wondering how Lap Band has changed your life? I want and need to lose weight but sometimes its just easier being over weight. I think Lap Band would improve my life--especially love life .. I dont have high blood pressure or anything that I have to take meds for, I am just over weight and have no engery. I would love for people not to use as a weapon against me "your fat".. I have been in way to many relationships when things go bad that is there only thing they can say!! I am 5'6 33 years old 234 lbs want to lose 100 lbs..

    Severe pain one month out

Hey there.. I also had this pain and was told the same thing that I had pulled out one of my internal stitches.. but I am over 7 months out now and no pain.. the only thing now is when I am standing my port sticks out due to the weight loss. I was told that it's ok to lose a stitch and after awhile your body naturally heals itself around your port. I wouldn't worry. I hope that helps!

    6 months diet with dr

I wish my surgeon understood that! Of course I'm making changes and my weight is slowly dropping. But they want me to like 5 pounds a month! Sent from my iPhone Old school. The thinking once was that a patient has to "prove" they could lose weight before getting surgery. The exception is if you're to obese for surgery. The NIH research has shown that pre surgery weight lose programs have no benefit. Find out if you're insurance requires it. Google the research and print it out for your Dr d insurance company.

    one month surgervrsery

Tomorrow I am two weeks out. My surgeon requires a two day pre op diet of liquids only but I also had to loose ten % of excess weight before they would make a date. I have lost that and trying to lose a little more. Curious what was your two week diet? I am kind of doing a low carb/sugar, low fat, high protein diet. Some days I have just done protien shakes for morning or lunch and just a regular dinner. Congrats on your success! Your doing Great!
  12. I agree with piper. Mandisa is extremely talented and I don't believe her weight had anything to do with why she was voted off. I firmly believe that her choice of songs this and last week is what sealed her fate. I don't think this will be the last we've seen or heard of her though.
  13. I was sleeved on the 12th. I lost 10 pounds in the first week. I haven't lost anything since 6/18. It is frustrating! All we do in drink a measly amount of calories each day yet the weight lingers. Very frustrating!

Wearing waist trainer with band! Advice!

Congrats!!! @@loulou12 I'm going for my first fill tomorrow. Super excited! My weight hasn't budged in 2 weeks hope tomorrow changes that. You would like to know about the waist trainer as well. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  17. I've had my band for 13 years. Yes, I "throw up" almost regularly. Can't eat bread hardly, fruits, french fries, etc. I lost 50 pounds and 18 months ago had a tummy tuck. The placement of the port has cause me ALOT of pain the last 9 months! It is now trying to poke through. A stitch has come through and I've also lost another 25 pounds. I'm so happy where I am weight wise and only have 15 pounds to go! Now I'm talking with a surgeon about removal. I'M SCARED TO DEATH! I DON'T EVER WANT TO BACK TO BEING OBESE EVER AGAIN!!!! Not even overweight! I've only read posts of other people removing the devices and gaining a BUNCH of weight!!! I'm thinking of revising, but 13 years is a long time to have something foreign in your body! I'm thinking of just asking him to move the port... Thoughts?
  18. Ok, so my surgeon says that in some cases postmenopausal women have their periods come back since hormones are stored in fat and the rapid weight loss cause hormones to be dumped into the system. NOOOOOOOOO! Has this happened to anyone?

    Tummy Tuck Results!

It's definitely a change! I feel like a whole new person actually. I am part of multiple weight loss forums and post frequently to them, that's why I post links to my blog. It is too tedious to type out everything 3 different times PLUS on my blog. If you need help navigating to anything else, let me know. Dig around the blog and thank you so much for reading.

    Feeling Positive!!!

Hey everyone! It's been a few weeks since I've been on here, I've officially had the worlds craziest work month (the life of a nurse.) Anyway, I was banded on 7/25/12 and I'm feeling really great. Just had my 2nd fill yesterday, so I now have a total of 7cc in my band. I'm feeling so close to my "sweet spot", Dr. Thinks my next fill should really work wonders. Yeah! I haven't weighed myself since 2 days before my last fill, in which I actually did 2 days of clear liquids& Protein shakes prior to the fill and I'm going to do an extra2 days of it as well...sooo a total of 7 days of stage 1. I feel that its jumpstarting my diet again. My last weigh in at the doctors I was 209/210 (myscale said 209, his said 210) which was on the 20th. I've given myself a challenge. I told myself I want.to be out of the 200s by Oct. 1st, and its driving me nuts that I am not weighing myself everyday BUT guys, its so much better this way! I feel like I'm losing, I've been exercising everyday and burning a good amount of calories and my diet is awesome. Please please please pray that this can happen!! Even if the scale reads 201/200 on Oct 1st, I'll still feel great. I will update you guys on that day. I hope you're all doing well, I'm so grateful on my weight loss journey so far! Thanks!!!!XOXO -Melissa M.

    Plans went overboard

All my planning for the cruise was for not. I actually gained 7 pounds. Good news is that I have also lost it. (I think a lot of the pounds were water weight from traveling) So Im back to pre vacation weight. I also returned with a cold(explains the weight loss). So working with the trainer is out until Friday. I think I will go have some soup.

    To Tight in the morning

I am very tight in the morning as well. I can usually sip water, hot tea, etc...then after being up for a few hours I drink a protein shake for breakfast. I usually have to eat soup, or something saucey and moist for lunch, then by dinner I can eat normally as well. I find that if I am planning to eat a meal that is full of bulk and substance like meat, salad, etc I drink a lot of water to get my stomach ready. Plus we are supposed to drink a lot of water anyways. I have noticed a decline in weight loss as well and I can only think its because I am eating more at dinner which means more calories, and then not being as active as during the day. I have had my band for over a year and I am now only going every 3-4 months for a fill, so it's not like I was just filled and got too tight.....I just have had to adjust my activity level in the evening and excercise self control at dinner. I am hoping that I see some better results like what I was experiencing before. Perhaps try that too and see how it goes....or pay a visit to the doctor. Good luck

    Honesty

I was actually thinking about this today and was struggling with whether I should be more open about it. I have had quite a few people ask me about weight loss and my standard answer is I spend more time in the gym and less in the kitchen. This is the truth but really there is so much more to it. I know we have to do the work but it is SO much easier now than it ever was before. My hesitation to tell others was more out of a fear that it might not work and I would be judged for failing even with surgery. I still have that fear that it can't last. It never has before so how can this be forever? Hopefully as time goes on I will be able to accept it as a permanent solution. Maybe I need to go back home today and throw out those "fat" clothes I put in the attic last week.
  24. Well 2 guys who worked at the site where I had mine done both said they went hog wild the EVENING before their surgery and they lived to tell about it. Nachos, buffalo wings and tequila shots, YIKES! They said they got real sick but didn't define it exactly and I was reluctant to listen to the gory details as my own post-op tummy wasn't up to hearing about it. I would be very concerned about post-op constipation too, having your gut packed with waste when anesthesia sometimes hangs up the colon might be pretty painful. Whatever you do fess up to it and take the consequences. Better safe than sorry. BTW: I was on liquid diet for 10 days, just wanted to make it as easy as possible and wanted to jump start the weight loss.
  25. Yes! It's due to the high protein. Exchanging fat for muscles. You don't lose weight, but you get smaller..muscle takes up less room then fat. That old saying that muscle weighs more then fat is not true...a pound of fat and a pound of fat are both still a pound...but it sure takes up less room! Lol
