    NSv sadness

Congrats on the NSV! I hope you are tracking all of them in one place, but we know that's my song and dance It is such a difficult place to be in, wanting to help another find a way out of the misery we know they are suffereing, contrasting with not wanting to add to their misery. Part of me wants to tell everyone about the band, and yet the rational part of me knows that this isn't such a good idea. Thanks for the compassion!

i wouldnt approach anyone either. i think about approaching people all the time, but just cant imagine doing it. great job on the NSV! those seats really are tough to slip in sometimes!!

    NSv sadness

Congrats on the NSV but no, I probably wouldn't approach someone else about something embarassing like that. She knows the reason she can't fit in the seat and...just like we used to do, she was probably trying to pretend the situation didn't exist. Even though it would have been well-intentioned, a conversation about it would've probably made her feel more embarassed. That's just my opinion. However, if you knew the person and had talked with them about weight issues or were close enough to bring it up then it might be a different thing to mention your band and the success you've had with it. Good question to bring up though, it was something to think about!

Congrats on your NSV, and it shows what a caring person you are that you felt for that women. Maybe one day she will also be able to have an NSV like you.

    NSv sadness

My husband and I went to a show last night, and I was so nervous about the seat. I've avoided all shows for the last two years after I went to a Prince concert and had to ask for handicapped seating because the regular seats were too small or, really, my backside was too big to fit in them. Guess what! After 81 pounds, I fit just like everyone else! I acted cool, of course, but I was thrilled inside. until... A woman who weighed perhaps a bit more than I did four months ago tried to sit down two rows ahead of me. She had to be miserable all night. She sat forward and tried to act like she just needed to stretch her back, but the true story was all too apparent to someone who had lived the same experience such a short time ago. How I wanted to give her a hug and tell her that there is a way out of that misery! My journey is far from complete, but the band has totally turned my life around. I wanted to share the answer I've found. I guess I just wanted to reach out a hand and pull her out of the pain I saw on her face and felt in my heart. and yet.. I realized it would be in poor taste for me to approach her. If we had bumped into each other in the ladies' room and had started talking, that might have given me a window. It didn't happen. Please share, do you approach others in situations such as this?

congrats on the nsv's! 50 lbs, onederland, twoterville! sorry i have been busy and had to read pages of postings to get up to date...sorry about dr. sanchez, what a loss the pix posted are great! i really need to do that soon. i can really relate to the problems eating!!! i was pb's a few times a week for almost a month. i went to the dr. yesterday for my 4 month check up and got yelled at! he said if it happens again to call cuz he doesn't want me to hurt myself. so he wanted to find out why and filled my 4 cc band to 1.5cc's. after i chugged the water...up it came!!!twice!!! then he took out .25cc's and up it came again! now i am just over 1 cc a smidge over where i was before we started. so he said to eat slowly and only protein just to jump start my metabolism so i can lose more weight. he also reminded me that our tummies are the size of a thumb and i am NOT!!!! to eat more than 1/4 cup per meal. we'll see! is everyone ready for the holiday season? i am soo excited...only 2 weeks left! dez

Got my surgery Date - December bandster

Hi Band Sisters! I'm in Washington for the week, and am totally ROCKING on my pre-op diet. I have not cheated one single time. I totally feel like I rule! I brought my pre-packaged meals, and have been drinking soup and hot chocolate during the meetings, nibbling my bars and soy nuts for snacks. I'm pounding water, and even declined drinks and dinner invitations. I am devoted to success. I fully expect that when I get home I will be another 3-4 pounds lighter. I also met a nice man at the airport who is *ahem* on his way over to socialize for a while. I feel so loose in the caboose, but I'm single, and pretty, and crazysexycool. So where's the harm in it? Of course I've given his contact info to my girlfriend in case I end up missing (hahah, that won't happen). Thought I'd check in and share my NSVs with you. Hope you're all doing well! I'll be home tomorrow. Nathalie

Vegas is my vote too. Regina, Congrats on being at that sweet spot. Barbara465, no more seat belt extenders is a great NSV. Enjoy. That image made me smile. Anyone else with a holiday NSV? Holiday NSV's are fun to read. I'm gonna be a lot happier to have my picture taken this Christmas. . I went back to my walking DVD yesterday and my back is much better. I'm glad I gave run/walking outdoors a try, but the DVD is easiest for right now. Positive thoughts to you Socalgal. Congrats on those long hikes, May they gobble up every calorie in those 2 cookies.
  17. Yoda the Gap, fantastic. I always foung the Gap in Canada is overpriced but there's a Gap in Lake Placid, NY that always have fantastic deals. Everytime we are in Lake Placid, we make it a point to stop there and we alway buy stuff on sale. I always buy for others though. It would be so much fun to walk in there some day and buy stuff in there for me. Great NSV!!!!

Ready to have this thing out...

NSV's are far more important then what the scale reads. Do not let the numbers on the scale dictate your success or failures with the band. SIt down and make a list of all of thethings in your life that have changed since the band. Are you happier? healthier? Is your family happier? Buying cuter and smaller size clothes? Not needing to take blood pressure meds or other obese related meds? Do your feet and joints ache less now? If you answered YES to any of these questions then you are not a failure!

    May Bandsters~December Chat!

Marz - Congrats on the new sizes! I also wondered about all of the other members. Some of them may only post on the B2G website now but I'm not sure about that. It would be nice to see how everyone else is doing. I tried to take some pictures of myself last night to post on here. My DH is working nights this week so I had to set up the camera and use the timer, etc. The pictures are not that great. Plus they are in some weird format and I am not sure how to switch them to JPEG so, hopefully the hubby can work on that for me today. I might have some on here tomorrow. We have dial up internet at home so I won't attempt it at home. I have a NSV that I just realized this morning. I can finally use a regular sized bathtowel to dry off with until of the giant bath sheet. It actually closes together now! And I am almost just overweight. .8 lbs away from never being obese again! Woohoo!

    Downsizing & dress size

I think that a lot of it depends upon your body shape. I am 5'6" and now weigh 179 lbs but I have broad shoulders and I like to wear loose tops; thus I still wear a 3x but I look a lot better in them now. I have lost a lot of weight off my gut and waist and my boobs now stick out farther than my potbelly. This is great! but I still take a fairly large pant size compared to some of the other women who post here because I am thick-waisted. I always was, even when I was thin. This is kind of a drag for me. The NSVs come slower for me but on the other hand my arms and legs are quite slender.

Hi Everyone! It's good to be back reading the posts. My DD's carotoid artery surgery went well, but his blockage was extensive. Hopefully he will feel some benefits soon. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. I always get the holiday blahs. They hit differently each year, but they hit. This year I can't turn to food like I have in the past. Not that I haven't tried. Fortunately I've been able to stay away from the sweets. I had wanted to do "hard core" after this last fill, but somehow it's not happening. I had a few "skinny" days, but I'm back at struggling to stay around 1200 cals/day. Socalgal, Being so close to Onderland is tough, but when you do finally hit it, maybe you won't bounce back out of it. A wise decision to postpone a flll b4 leaving the country, but it must be frustrating too. NSV's may be our "life ring" this year to get through the holidays. Some black pants I bought in August are now so baggy I can't wear them in public. I went shopping with the kids today and actually shopped for myself in all "their" stores. Bought a blue sweater on sale at the Gap. (not my usual "slimming" black) and, drum roll please, I bought my first pair of heals (2") in 20 years. What would you rather have for Christmas, a big loss or to look fantastic in a smaller size outfit?

    October 2006 Bandsters!

I was banded on the 31st too and I have only lost 8lbs. I have NSV's like my clothes fitting better and not having to pick what I am wearing based on if it will be too tight or uncomfortable today. I had my first fill on 11/29/06 4 weeks post-op. I feel some restriction but I can still eat whatever I want just not too much. What is your diet like? Maybe I need to try some new foods. The fill was painless so don't worry about that. I couldn't wait but now I can't wait for another one...

    Nsv ...

Hi! My big NSV- I bought a sweater at a normal, everyday store the other day!!! It is a n X-L, but still it felt great. My new jeans are a 16P (plus which is bigger than a regular 16). So... I am thrilled and motivated to keep it going!!! Dawn Banded April 4th 2006 (Montreal) Fill June 9th 2006

Wow, am I going to HURT!!

This morning I'm not actually as sore as I thought I'd be. Another great NSV! Of course, sitting at my desk all day won't help matters any I'm sure. Kathy, there's no question the right clothes make a big difference. Go get yourself a ski bib! I found a pair of pants one last year ON THE RACK that fit me well--they were a 16 and only one of many that were there. Depending on the ski area, you may even be able to get on-site babysitting. You just reminded me that I actually have a pair of x-country skis in the attic; they were a present from my husband back in our unmarried-and-adventurous days. If we get enough snow this winter I'm going to dig them out and cross some country!!

    EEEEEEEEEEKKK!!

It sounds like you are complaining about gaining muscle and losing fat. The scale will not always go down. I think you said it was easier to get behind the steering wheel, WHAT!!!! So you are getting smaller, WHAT!!!!!! It sounds like you got some extra exercise in while waiting for another step class, WHAT!!!!! It sounds like you have some NSV"S goin on, walking to the store, parking farther away to get extra walking in.
