  1. i lovee your hair cut!! not many women can pull it off, and wow yours looks awesome!!

    how are you doing!?

  2. Hi there Crime Kitty, I love that you guys are doing this together. What a great support system! I understand the insurance thing. I have my consultation today, but I already know I have to start the 6 mos. doctor supervised weight loss program before insurance will pay for banding, soooo I guess I am a long way off. Baby steps is the way to go. good luck to both of you and keep me informed on how you are doing. All of these stories are so inspirational that is helps me to keep going even though it will be a while.

  3. Hows it going with the weight loss?

  4. I havent moved in like three to four weeks with my weight i do believe that i lost inches but no weight im stuck at 32 pounds lossed but i guess it is better than going up!LOL so my first fill is on April 29 so im excited to get some more restriction!!!!

  5. Love red hair! Im stealing it!

  6. Hi and sorry for the delay in replying! I guess what helped me is listening to everything my doctor said and following everything to the letter. Just remember, not everyone loses at the same rate. Just look at every loss, even the littles ones, as pounds or ounces you won't see again. I was stuck a couple of times too and then there will be something that will springboard you right back into losing again. It took us years to gain it and it's gonna take awhile to get it off, but I know you can do it.

  7. hi nancy, thanks for your message... i was on pre-op for 2 weeks and lost 6 lbs and i've lost 7 or 8 since surgery... my ticker says differently because my scale at home got my hopes up.

the nutritionist at the weight loss clinic told me it could be a number of things working against me right now, 1, i'm diabetic and until my blood sugars get leveled my body is producing a lot of insulin and that stores itself in fat and doesn't like to give it up.

    2. i am not a consistent eater... here it is almost 2 pm on saturday and all i've had to day is 20 oz of decaf coffee. she said i need to eat more consistently because my body is in starvation mode and thinks i'm not going to feed it.

    3. i'm very muscular and it's alwasy been hard for me to lose weight.. .she said i may only see 1/2 lb to a 1lb a week.

i'm really ok with that, i'm just wishing i were 30 weeks out instead of 3. but it will come with time. thanks again... keep in touch. steph

  8. I've been good. Just working... A LOT! Thanks for the picture comment. I've been hitting the gym like twice a day. It has become routine for me now. However, I think I'm beginning to plateau with the weight loss, so I am going in for another fill next week.

  9. Congrats on your weight loss. I'm doing good I'm down 56 lbs and feeling great. Married life is great i can't complain I married a good guy. Keep you the good work I'm going to try to make it to Atlanta this summer maybe we can meet up. Keep intouch.

  10. during my weight loss period (7 1/2 months) i started on the treadmill 15 min a day (i'm talking walking at 2.0) and then ended up walking around 45 min at 3.5. And of course the last few months i started doing sit ups. got the surgery in jan and by aug i had a six pack... i had minimal loose skin but after all that hard work even having a little bit bothered me.. so in oct i had a body lift along with a tummy tuck... since the tummy tuck i lost my six pack but plan on getting it back hopefully soon.

  11. Hi Teal,

I have had several fills and unfills since I had the lapband procedure almost one year ago (5/20/08). As you lose weight, you need fills (fluid placed into your band) and sometimes when your band gets too tight, you have to have an unfill (fluid taken out of your band). Its difficult to explain in words. I had the stomach flu a few months ago and the stress from the stomach flu made my band tighter. I could not drink fluid without it coming up. Taking some of the fluid out of the band made it easier. I think I'm in the right spot right now with having just enough fluid in my band to restrict my eating too much food but getting in enough food to have enough nutrition. I saw my doctor last Friday and she decidd not to put any more fluid into my band because I am having a slow but sure weight loss. I don't know if that answered your question.

  12. Hi Purplemonkey! I am from Lockport, NY but now live just outside Knoxville, TN. Congrats on your major weight loss!

  13. You look amazing. Congratulations on your success. I think exercise makes a big difference in how the body looks during weight loss (even though the amount of weight lost is about the same for those who exercise and those who do not exercise). I, like you, exercise 3-4 days/week. I love exercise especially now that the weight is coming off. Can't wait to see more of your success photos.

  18. Hi Anya. I totally understand. I have a little restriction. It is getting very hard to eat solid food too early in the morning. I can't eat until I am up for atleast 2 hours and at work already. I was supposed to go in today to get my second fill, but like you said, he is out of the office for a few weeks. So.. I see the nurse pract. this Thursday. I have not lost any weight from the first fill, but I have not gained either. I am pretty sick right now though. My allergies have turned into a full blown upper respiratory infection. I am bound to lose a few pounds from this just because food is NOT appetizing at all. I can't taste anything!!! I am sorry you are having a hard time. Just do your best but don't be too hard on yourself. The weight loss and restriction will all come in due time. Good luck. Take Care.

  19. VaDarlene, You should be doing pretty well now after your surgery. Since I have had fills, my weight loss is greater. So far 34 lbs. Slow but sure. Good luck.

  23. I honestly do not stick to calorie intake. I do however watch my carb intake. But not so much calorie. I eat tofu at least 4 times a week. (I know I hear you all already ewh.... tofu. don't knock it till you try it the right way). I make stir fry dishes using tofu and if we are having chinese at work I order tofu. I love the maximum protein from GNC. However it's expensive. Vitamin shop is cheaper and you can buy any protein, take it home, try it, and if you don't like it you can return it. I also recommend greek yogurt. It is called Fage. It kinda tastes like a sour, sour cream but it has like 18grms of protein in 1cp. I add one sweet and low to it. I have a 4cc band and I am at at least 3.7. I get fills and unfills often, so I can no where my optimal restriction is. I have realized it changes with weight loss.
