  1. I prefer 8-10 oz 1% milk and 1 30 gram scoop of Genepro flavorless protein powder.

    What's for breakfast?

Love all the great ideas! I forgot to add to my comment that I put some coconut manna in my oatmeal and stevia along with the Protein powder and a little milk. I use the GENEPRO unflavored protein powder that I order from Amazon. It is a smaller scoop for 30 grams of protein and the powder is finely ground. It does add a slight milk like taste to what you put it in but that works well with oatmeal. You could add walnuts for crunch, chia seeds for crunch etc. Have a good one everybody, Kathleen

    Favorite unflavored protein?

I could not handle any of the Protein drinks either at first. I now can drink Premier and I like it. GENEPRO is still my favorite. I have used it for nearly a year....all my lab is good and I did not lose any hair since I kept my protein levels high.

    Genepro Users-check this out.

I was so concerned when I read this, cause I rely so heavily on genepro for my protein. I ran across this on a body building blog, seemed to answer things for me... Genepro - highest rated protein on the planet LARGEbagFrontWEB.jpgHey there guys. I am the Doctor/Genetic Bio-Scientist that invented Genepro and am the owner of Musclegen Research. Serving size is 1 Tablespoon = 30g of protein.. Here is a little about the product and the difference between Genepro and any other protein on the market. We are working with bodybuilding.com to carry Genepro as well as out other products.. What makes Genepro so unique is that we are able to reduce the protein molecule to half the size of normal protein through a process called Electrophoresis. This is a reverse electrical polarity method of extracting pure protein. In essence we take protein molecules that, for reference, are the size of a baseball. We push these baseball sized protein molecules through a Polyacrylamide gel (the gel stays below 87 degrees F) and introduce electricity through the gel. This process removes hydrogen ions, allergens and any fillers or binders so we are able to then bind the protein with a strand of six amino acids called a Hexapeptide which stabilizes the molecular structure. This hexapeptide increases shelf life of the protein as well as balancing the bitter taste that is present with the protein after electrophoresis and actually gives the protein a slightly sweet undertone. The protein is pushed through a filtration system and into a centrifuge which results in a pure protein molecule that is now the size of a golf ball (for reference). You may not be able to fit 30 baseballs into a shoe box but you can fit 30 golf balls. Thus giving us the ability to get 30grams of protein in a 1TBS serving size. This process also changes the caloritic count as well to 3.2 calories per gram of protein. The process as well at the hexapeptide are patent pending and have never been used before in nutrition (it's a genetic process that is used primarily in forensic science). The other interesting fact is that most protein supplements digest in the lower GI and whey is absorbed at only 31% so if you're "taking" 30g of whey, your body is only taking in 9g. Genepro is digested in the upper GI which eliminates gluten, lactose and bowel sensitivity and absorbs at a rate of 94% which makes it 3 times more effective than any other protein on the planet (medical or open market). Flavorless and odorless and can be mixed instantly in any food or beverage (hot or cold) without changing the taste or consistency. Truly the most complex and advanced protein on the planet. Each 1pound container comes with 3 empty, re-useable travel pouches that make it super convenient to use anytime, anywhere and in anything
  5. Aww, that's too bad. Can you stand adding unflavored Protein powder to Soup or something else that you like? I've seen posts on here for GENEPRO protein--it has 30 grams of protein per tablespoon and supposedly doesn't alter the texture of whatever you add it to. (Sorry if you've already tried this, but I thought it was worth a shot mentioning it.)

    Genepro

I use GENEPRO and have been using it for awhile (like 3 years or so) I have no problems with my Protein levels and as you see I am almost 5 years out. If I didn't use my protein stuff I would never reach my 65 or so protein level. My blood work has all been great. For myself it works and I will continue using it. Love my GENEPRO Latte every day. I guess everyone has to do what ever it takes as long as they meet their quota of protein levels. Good Luck and there is quite the conversations on this product. It is a WIN WIN for me.

    Genepro

The bags of genepro in the stores now have a sticker over them that say 30g per SCOOP not Tbsp.

    Genepro

Protein shakes are too sweet. I loved them the first week and hate them now. I bought Genepro and can mix it in anything, however after researching online, it says there was a lawsuit in which they lost because of their false labeling of calories and protein amount. Does anyone else use this? The info I found wasn’t from credible sources, so I don’t want to not use it. Has anyone used this and see their protein levels tank??

    Protein help

The Genepro has been helpful to me. It's flavorless and you get a lot of protein for a small scoop. I bought it on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Musclegen-Research-Genepro-Medical-Servings/dp/B00K6OSDYA

Unjury & Opurity - Where to Buy?

The website is best. Just a tip though, the unflavored isn't unflavored at all. Try GENEPRO unflavored. I've told so many people about it, there will probably be a shortage! lol
  11. I like GENEPRO unflavored protein! 30g per serving, and just adds a milky taste to what you mix it in, and you can mix it with anything!
  12. I'm a week and a half post op, and someone told me about GENEPRO Protein powder. It's a tasteless powder with one Tbsp. Equaling 20 oz. of protein. It has saved me! I HATE protein drinks!!! I gag in them, but with this I just make s mini smoothie using 3 frozen strawberries, and 2-3 Tbsp. banana, a tsp. Of Greek yogurt for smoothness, a few ice chunks, and 1/4 cup Water. Then I have a yummy smoothie with 30 grams of protein! I cannot taste the powder! Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. Sorry. I need to correct myself from last post.... 1 Tbsp of GENEPRO is 30 grams of protein! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I've heard this too but also heard that carbonation is fine and it's the empty soda calories they really don't want you consuming since we have such a small area to get in nutrition. My doctor says no carbonation and i'm not a fan of soda so I won't drink it. How's everyone's 7th day post-op going? I had some setbacks yesterday and think I totally overdid it by walking around walmart early in the morning. My sutures are healing beautifully and i'm not even bruised but the large one was aching badly. I slept most of yesterday and was worried that i'd popped a staple because I was dizzy, nauseated, had blurry vision but think i'm just dehydrated. I called my doc's office and i'm actually on full liquids not just clear (YAY) until next Wednesday so i'm stoked to get something else in my belly. Still not doing great with protein and even the Genepro unflavored has a taste that grosses me out. I've been taking most of my Fusion bariatric chewables which are totally manageable and quite delicious. I went to lunch today with family at my favorite Puerto Rican restaurant and had to watch everyone eat but I was actually okay. I have no desire for food and sipped water and talked and laughed and had a great time.
  15. I'm almost 5 wks post op and still struggle with hydration and Protein. Now that I can have soft foods it is easier, but I still don't hit my goal. Isopure, Premier, Unjury powder even broth, made and still do make me nauseous to even think about them. Carnation Instant is tolerable in chocolate, but barely. I did buy some GENEPRO and it works to an extent, but don't believe the hype that there is no taste, BS! I can mix one scoop (30gms of protein) with 1.5oz of cream of wheat or oatmeal and it is doable. I found my Holy Grail about week 2 when my husband brought home a cup of Sonic ice, I chewed on that all day and it was so easy. My freezer has a bag of Sonic ice at all times and all of my drinks have to be ice cold, the least bit warm and I get nauseous. I have frozen Crystal Light drinks as well but they burn the back of my throat so I have stopped those as well. Week two I was where you are, but I wasn't crying, I was furious and cussing like a lunatic. No one tells you that hydration is the most important, all of my manuals say "at least 50gms of protein and at least 48oz of clear liquid", no options just scare tactics. It is physically impossible for you to get all of that in when your tiny new stomach is so swollen. I understand the importance of protein and hydration, but they need to give you some more realistic guidelines for the first few weeks. It seems some people do it and are able to get all of that in, but in my case, I could not and still struggle.

    Unflavored Protein

Thanks for the Genepro recommendation. I'm 14 months post-op at goal weight and have never heard of it! I'm trying to build up muscle weight so looking to add in some more protein to my diet. Can you tell me how many calories are in a serving? I also looked it up on amazon and came across this review. One scoop may only have 15 grams of protein in it, not 30 grams. Does it actually say on the container a serving size is one scoop? Many can be misleading. I know on my isopure you have to use two scoops to get the protein amount listed on the label.

    Unflavored Protein

I use GENEPRO....it is unflavored and oderless. You can mix it hot or cold. I have been using it for the last ten months and I love it. I had a hoorible time finding a Protein drink I could tolerate right after my surgry.....they all gagged me! I mix mine with Crystal Light (or Wyler...it is cheaper) lemonade and sip on it all day.....30 grams of protein per tablespoon.....so you don't have all the clumping and yucky stuff!

    Hungry after BPD-DS

Update on the whey protein. I was sensitive to 'milk concentrate" whey protein. This includes the bariatric pal soups, puddings, and gnc lean shakes. It caused a lot of very foul gas and bowel discomfort. Whey isolate, Genepro, and several GNC shakes have been fine. I was not sensitive to the milk concentrate whey shakes before. The cottage cheese also gave me issues and I had to cut it out. Greek yogurt has been fine. So if you are stocking up before surgery I highly recommend making sure you get whey isolate, especially the Genepro as it has no flavor and can be added to anything to boost your protein intake.

    I DID IT’nnn

Spitfireash I made broth and put mushrooms and green onion in it just to give myself something to chew on. The mushrooms and green onion has very little to no calories....even my son snd hubby loved it. I lost 11 lbs in 10 days before surgery. I also purchased Genepro protein and put it in everything!! My soup, water bottle, and even the jello I made. That seriously helps with hunger! Drank about 3-4 protein shakes a day so with all the protein I never felt hungry although I’m not going to lie, the first week was tough just because my brain wanted to eat although I wasn’t hungry. Let me know if you have additional questions. Im two days post-op and this is the worst I’ve felt so far. Terrible headache (yes I’m getting all my water in and then some)....I hope it gets better throughout this week.
  20. I had the same problem. The only way I could drink and can still drink the protein shake is to mix it with decaf coffee. Another alternative my doctor suggested was unflavored protein - by Genepro 30g per scoop- it truly is flavorless and can be mixed in liquids even soups and can even be added in things like scrambled eggs to increase the protein.
  21. Hey Kjan, I tried the GENEPRO, and it's working well. I mixed it into some diluted, sugar-free crystal lite, and I can't taste anything. I figured the amount of sucralose in my diluted crystal lite is unlikely to be greater than the amounts found in those sweet shakes. I'm also about to order some samplers from Unjury, as recommended by others. Did you have any problems with the protein powder becoming de-natured in your hot coffee?
  22. Ive heard genepro is the best as far as taste (or lack of I should say) Also, the unjury ive heard good things about. I am still pre op until August 28th so I havent experimented much with any since they say tastes change post op.

    unflavored protein powder

Welll...I know I will get blasted about this because there are a few people that don't agree with my choice of Protein.. I love GENEPRO BTW I am 4 years out and I have tried sooo many Proteins I would hate to find out how much $$$ I actually have spent. So anyhow this is the only protein unflavored which is unflavored. I mix it in my Espresso every day. It cost a little more but oh so worth it. Good Luck

    Smoothie Recipes

Half a banana, sliced and frozen (I weigh each banana half before I freeze it and write the weight on the wax paper I wrap it in) 0.5-1 cup water mixed with a scoop of GenePro 1 cup fresh, raw, spinach .5 tablespoon of chia seeds sweetener to taste ice cubes to taste It is kind of boring on flavor, but I also don’t want a ton of carbs. It doesn’t taste bad, just sort of blah. It ends up being about 150 kcals and 30+ grams protein. I need to follow this thread for more ideas.
