    Genepro protein!

I'm 2 weeks post op. I mix genepro with about two ounces of coffee and one cup of fairlife chocolate milk. I love it. It tastes like an iced mocha and gives me 43 grams of protein. And it's not sickly sweet or thick like protein shakes.

    Plain protein powder

Niki - how did you like the Genepro?
  4. Try GENEPRO Protein powder. You can buy it on Amazon. It is tasteless and mixes in with literally anything with no lumps. It doesn't change the flavor or consistency of foods. You can put it in hot or cold items. It has 30 grams of protein per scoop. I usually start my day by adding it to a cup of coffee. I've also put it in yogurt, cottage cheese, Soups, chili, smoothies, juice, anything that is the slightest bit wet. You may like it better that pre-packaged Protein shakes. If you're on liquids still, you can add it to whatever you're sipping on.

    Genepro protein!

Got my genepro today. Tried it with crystal light - wasn't terrible but I could taste a slight aftertaste. Going to try with coffee tomorrow. Still on liquids ( only 10 days po). Any tips from those that use it?
  6. My dad who doesn't know anything about gastric bypass puts in his two cents from time to time. I'm pre op but telling my husband that I need to try some Isopure or GenePro powder. Dad was saying that protein powder can affect the kidneys. Is there a problem with using them? Like I said I'm pre op but practicing getting in my 64 ounces of water in and my kidneys seem to work, I pee all the time. Don't want to mess them up with protein. I drink protein shakes now and don't have a problem with them. I'd like to get some flavorless protein to put in my water. After surgery I want to hit the gym and build muscle, that means more protein than just 60-80 g per day.

I use Genepro as well. It is my favorite!

    Genepro protein!

I use Genepro as well. I just had my 3 month lab work and the results were fantastic. I use this product everyday.

    Genepro protein!

I have used it for over a year now. After my surgery I had a hard time tolerating any Protein drinks....could not stand Premier (I like them now). GENEPRO is still my go to for extra protein.I have been able to keep my protein up...between keeping the protein up and Vitamins....I did not lose any hair...in fact my hair is thick like it was when I was young and I have curls...never had curls before. I have lost my hair with other surgeries in the past. I drink mine with Crystal Light.....I get in my protein and liquids at the same time. All of my blood work is good.
  10. Does anyone use this? If so what are your thoughts?
  11. I bought some really good creamed soups like cream of tomato, potato leek, and broccoli. They had no chunks and were velvety. I would add a scoop (which is about 1 Tablespoon) of Genepro protein (it is unflavored and 1 little scoop has 30 grams of protein) It made things much better. I don't like sweet drinks so I always hated the protein shakes.

    Flavorless Protein Powder

Genepro by musclegen research. I buy mine on Amazon. 98% absorption rate. 30 grams of protein in 1 tablespoon of powder. Mixed in to anything hot or cold
  13. @@dfaulkner hi there and congratulations on your tremendous success. I think we all worry about going back to old habits or complacency. I was a restricter for so many years. Now if I want something I let myself have a bit and then I am not in that mental state of Can't Have. It's a head game, for sure. Boredom can be a factor; if I'm busy I'm not thinking about food. Pink Dahlia's suggestions are great. Maybe you need a treat so why not find the right one for yourself. I have those 100 calorie yogurts that have real sugar and Steevia in them -- I mix in chia seeds and a little gluten-free Cereal, maybe a few nuts to make it chewy so I get the signal for satiety (otherwise yogurt is a slider for me). This appeases my sweet tooth and my craving for something creamy, plus it's a meal. If I'm short on Protein I put in a spoonful of GENEPRO Protein powder for a 30 gram hit. But that's rare. I have a bottle of Steevia that I like -- it's from Trader Joe's. There is a lot of variety in taste and you need to be careful to make sure you get one that is 100% Steevia as there are ones out there with less than desirable ingredients. It's super sweet so just try a few drops in something. Good luck and let us know how you're doing. Four years out is so inspiring!

Roll call all who had surgery JUNE 2015

Hello, Hello! I was sleeved on 6/22. I only weigh in on Sundays, and so far I'm down around 28 pounds since June 1st which includes pre-op and post-op. The three ladies who were sleeved with me on the same day at OCC are all down about the same. We would all be classified as 'lower BMI" I believe, so we are pleased. I'm in week one of soft foods. I also find it interesting that a scrambled egg goes down smoothly one day, and then sits like a rock another day. I tried some soft ground turkey this week, and the first two times it was ideal, and then yesterday I had serious stomach pain for about 30 mins, and tried to walk it off (same portion). I am working harder at chewing more, as I have dental issues and have never been a good chewer. This does not come easy for me. I love the taste of Shelley's Baked Ricotta (WorldAccordingtoEggFace), but it doesn't sit well for me yet, maybe because of the acid in the sauce. I am taking Omeprazol as prescribed by my surgeon. I'm also trying some of the phone apps that help with Water reminders, as I continue to struggle to get in more than 32 ounces of Fluid, which is a real no no. Today, I was not allowed to have my yogurt with GENEPRO (which I love), until I drank 16 ounces. That worked! I have a closet full of many sizes, and I have been able to shop there for clothes with tags still on them. I like that people are admiring my "new" work wardrobe rather than commenting on any weight loss. Keep in touch, June Sleevers!
  15. Maybe try adding Genepro unflavored protein to broth or other foods.
  16. Can you have broth with Genepro (unflavored protein)? My surgeon requires Bariatrics Advantage shakes.
  17. Well yes this is the part they don't say much about while your waiting to have the surgery it's a process it takes time to get used to and yes it's normal for a few weeks I was only able to take tiny sips there's a lot of swelling on your insides nothing tastes good etc it does get better the important thing is to not get dehydrated force yourself to drink drink drink it's like a job at first lol it takes a few weeks to get to where you can take a normal sip again at least for me I hated the protien drinks I ended getting unflavored protien powder and mixing it with drinks soups broth tea etc tip mix it with a bit of water first when adding to hot liquids or it clumps I used genepro
  18. The first thing you should have said was "the nutritionist said....." It's a bit disconcerting that the team is not on the same page. Call them out on it. Also check out other brands of protein. Syntrax and GENEPRO are popular and can be mixed with Water. I also used Prosource Nocarb while in the hospital and for the first month post-op. It's a bit viscous, but mixes well with water and herbal teas. That sounds like full liquids unless you are doing protein drink/waters. By definition clear liquids are just that, liquids you can see through. Full liquids is anything in liquid form with a leaning towards a thinner consistency.

    Protein powder?

I just got GENEPRO unflavored last week and I love it so far. Absolutely can't taste it, and it doesn't change the texture at all.
  20. Premier is my favorite, except the chocolate which I literally can't choke down. The unjury was okay, but premier is better. I have some unflavored protein powder from genepro that's highly recommended here, haven't tried that yet.

    Breakfast

I use Genepro protein powder. 1 scoop is 30 Gm of protein. It can be mixed in hot or cold so every morning I have a decaf coffee and stir in half a scoop of the Genepro, 15 Gm of protein with just my coffee! Sometimes I eat a protein bar, Life Choice from walmart, 170 cal, 18 Gm protein. This works great when I'm on the run. 33 Gm of protein total with my coffee! Other times I have a Dannon Greek yogurt and mix in half a scoop of the Genepro for 27 Gm of protein for a total (with coffee) 42 Gm of protein!! Genepro has no flavor and mixes in great with hot or cold.

    Breakfast

Hi there, after all those years of dieting and food theories, like breakfast being the most important meal of the day, etc., I have tossed that thinking aside for myself. I have only this rule: eat when I'm hungry and don't eat when I'm not hungry. I'm not hungry in the morning so I don't eat. I am drawn to Protein -- my body let's me know and I make healthy choices for dense protein like a piece of salmon, a small steak, etc. I like Beans and chili. There are times when i just have to have an egg and I know that's my body telling me just what it needs right then. I don't count protein grams and personally think Americans are way too obsessed with that. This is just me! I am older and grew up with a solid nutritional base (but got fat anyway!) and I don't eat junk food. shakes, for me, are sliders, so I avoid them but do have one as a treat once in a while. I use GENEPRO protein powder and if I'm feeling like I need an extra hit I mix some into my yogurt along with some mix-ins like chia seeds, a little gluten-free Cereal, a few chopped walnuts -- I do this to give me texture to chew. Otherwise the yogurt woukd also just be a slider. The chewing is what gives me the signal for satiety, which is how the band works. Good luck with all! It sounds like you are doing well and finding your way. Isn't it great to be getting in sync with our bodies again? For so long I felt mine had betrayed me or the other way round. It's good to be whole again.

    Protein shakes

Get a bunch of samples and try them. Try powders, pre-made and protein waters/drinks. A few popular brands are premiere protein, genepro, isopure, syntrax, unjury to name just a few. There are soy isolates, whey isolates and plant based formulas. Most nutritionist recommend whey isolate. Concentrates are not as potent. Unflavored powders can often be mixed into warm things like soups, broths, and teas. I did not have a pre-op diet, but I was on full liquids for the first 2 weeks post-op. By week one I was tired of the same drink so I began experimenting. If I hadn't figured out a way to add variety I would have gone nuts. Word of advice; buy only enough to last the first week or two post-op. Some people's palate's change after surgery. Some people become lactose intolerant. Save your receipts in the event you need to return something because these drinks can get pricey.
  24. So I had appt with my NUT last week and while there I asked her about Genepro protein powder. And I am happy to say it's in her list of top 5 protein powders.
