I am still pre-op but read that the 1st phase of south beach is great for sleevers after you can eat solid again. I would think soup, cottage cheese, applesauce, mashed potatoes, yogurt and sure there are more options til u can eat solid.

I am SO disappointed in myself. Self-sabotage post-op
dms75 replied to MoominMan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 11 months out of sleeve surgery. I came to build a routine in what I eat, and I absolutely enjoy every meal. Even if it's exactly the same as yesterday. I love it. Here's what I eat in a day (and the day after, and the one after.... 🙂 Breakfast: 2 eggs, 4 oz of diced lean ham (pork or turkey, or a turkey patty), 1 oz leek, 1 oz sweet peppers, all scrambled together. Add 6-8 cherry tomatoes and an espresso with 1 oz of 2% milk. Lunch: 5 oz of lean meat (chicken breast, pork loin, beef sirloin) grilled or pan seared, 2 cups of shredded fresh cabbage, one tablespoon of light mayonnaise Dinner: 5 oz of fish (cod, mahi, salmon, tuna, shrimp) and 1 cup of sliced zucchini or snap peas, all pan seared together, plus one Danon Light&Fit yogurt. That's about 1100 calories a day. Throw in the occasional apple or cup of berries, and it's 1200 calories, all in. And that's ALL I've been eating for the last 10 months. The only variation is the type of meat or fish I have. Or what flavor yogurt I choose. I'm not bored, and I look forward to every meal. It makes it easy to shop for and cook. Do yourself a huge favour and throw away ALL the crisps, cakes and any other greasy or sugary snacks you may have in the house. Then don't buy them again. If you really must snack, bite into an apple, or chew on a carrot. It keeps the mouth busy, without adding much caloric content. Oh, and I drink a gallon of water a day, to stave off constipation. Hang in there, believe in yourself, and maybe talk to a therapist or a friend about it. -

Turkey chili, grilled shrimp, cottage cheese, frozen Greek yogurt popcicles, protein shots, PB2, turkey lunch meat with laughing cow cheese and Parmesan crisps to break up the mush! -
What is the new normal for bowl movements
FluffyChix replied to tayna40's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
LOL, my old normal post surg = Rosemary's Baby bad deliveries once every 4-5 days. Holy crap! So bad. Since adding lots and lots of psyllium fiber + daily "meds" + lots of veg + water, I get big fluffy, painless, 1lb poops daily. It's my "NEW NORMAL" and I owe it all to my daily plan. I never deviate from it: Miralax 17g in black decaff coffee 2 Colace stool softeners 11g Now Brand whole psyllium husks divided into 2 cups of room temp Cinnamon Apple Spice Tea (decaff) 1/2c Greek yogurt with live cultures 1 GG Brancrisp Fiber Cracker + 1 tbsp almond butter each night before bed 100+oz plain water, plain decaff coffee, plain decaff green tea, plain matcha It is totes worth doing this! The psyllium husks and fiber cracker fluff up the poop and the Greek yogurt with cultures along with the psyllium is helping to repair my gut biome. The water is super duper important otherwise you make concrete. -
Keep your life simple. When you go to work you can live on 1 shake, water, and maybe a yogurt, or 1/2 to 1 boiled egg, if you need it for awhile. I have cases of shakes I overbought, dozens of soups I stocked up on, etc. etc. Your tastes will change, eating is so simple. Never heard of the boxes. My panty is stuffed with things I thought I might need. Good luck!

55 pounds down! Feeling snacky
46w4kds replied to Readytochangemylife's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I like to snack as well, but my go to snack is sugar free popsicles and sugar free jello. When I have that hungry feeling and liquids just don't do it, I love beef jerky. I also like the atkins caramel nut roll bars, so delicious with great protein and low carbs! Oh yeah, I love Yoplait yogurt low fat, so very yummy. Can you help me with these?
ShantelleElaine replied to 3mommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just ordered Unjury unflavored protein. The thought of taking another drink of a protein shake made me seriously gag. The unflavored powder can be placed in any drink, or food, cottage cheese, yogurt, mashed potatoes, etc. Im thrilled to never drink another shake. Yack! -
As far as restrictions, do you mean food restrictions? Basically, there were food restrictions, but from what I have heard, they were not as restrictive as some others I have heard. I was eating egg beaters, tomato or split pea Soup, yogurt by week two, and by week three I was adding on more like cream of wheat and oatmeal, and by week's end...soft fish but that was my experience with my doctor. I am going to have my 2nd fill this Wednesday, and I just weighed myself, and I have lost 29-30 lbs...(not a digital scale). Regarding any food I eat now, its basically anything but in moderate portions, I just make sure that I chew well, and eat slowly. As far as knowing how much my fill was, my doctor doesn't tell me as he doesn't like his patients to get "hung up" on how much each fill is, and now that I am going in for my second and have read a lot of these message boards and see how many people talk about "how much their fills are" I can see that people do get hung up on that so...I guess I kind of agree with him. He knows and writes in down, and that's good with me, as he is concerned with the weight numbers either. He wants to know what I am eating and how I feel and what I am doing to feel better. To him, this is about the health issue, and not necessarily the numbers...as they will come along with the rest, but too many of us get caught up in the "numbers game" and get off the idea that we are going to be doing this the rest of our lives, so what we really need to do is change our eating patterns and how we look at how we see food and exercise. I will tell you, though...getting your first fill is weird, and an unusual experience...its doesn't hurt, its just a weird experience.

I need your help!
Melissannde replied to malexander's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hot coffee or hot tea helps me when I'm tight. I'm post-menopausal so I don't experience the hormonal shifts that others deal with.. I can't advise on that. But I know what you mean about being too tight for yogurt.. I had yogurt for Breakfast this am and had to stop and take a shower before I could finish it.. not that I threw up on myself.. but that I felt tight and sometimes a warm shower will help. You didn't mention how much Fluid you received on your 2nd fill. My largest fill ever was 1cc. I don't need big fills to get results. Usually I get .2cc's, and occasionally I get .tcc's. (that's POINT 2 and POINT 5). You might be another one who needs to creep up on a fill. Sure, we have to go in more often, but the incidences of too tight/unfill are greatly reduced. Hope you get some relief in the AM. -
19hrs and Hurricane Florence is still here
ProudGrammy replied to Liz The New Me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@Liz C long, but this 6+ year VET/GOAL is worth it - ROFLMAO not staying in touch"!! 1,000 whips with a wet noodle!! (carbs, carbs eek!!) Glad you survived Florence and surgery went well. burping LOL - i use to burp so loud my daughter in GA. could here me from Syracuse, NY LOL I would TRY to stop eating as i was "approaching" being full.(before i burped) Hard to always tell (judge) when to stop. It's like asking someone on a bus "what stop do i get off for X street".? He says, "watch me and get off one stop earlier" LOL Don't push yourself - if you're too tired, (and you can afford time off from work) be easy on yourself. I read in your other post you are walking 2-3 miles a day!! That's great if you are feeling ok. But you don't have to walk that much. Walking is great to do any time - take it slow - if your body says no, no, no, stop i'm hurting - STOP . even though you are walking over 3X period - you sound too tired. don't overdue!! Take a nap, rest - pamper yourself!! you are worth it. Take yourself off that back burner. As far as yogurt (even only two tablespoons) you shouldn't experiment before the proper time. IE before you are supposed to go onto the next phase of eating. pureed', mush, soft, solids. Ok, end of well meaning lecture don't concentrate on the # on the scale - you will go crazy. Take your measurements periodically, and you will see, feel the change in your clothes. Everything takes time thinking of the bigger picture - great attitude to have!! I see you were born on Valentines' day!! How sweet is that!! LOL December 2019 - daughters wedding day - you will look amazing - that dress is a great goal to look forward too good luck newbie kathy -
I am 9 weeks post op. I gave up protein shakes after 4 weeks when I was allowed to, I'm not a huge milk drinker. I get all of my protein with food. Typically I have 2 eggs for breakfast with turkey sausage. If I don't have that then it's 3/4 of non-fat greek yogurt with 1/4 cup of nuts and 1/4 of berries. Tuna with salad for lunch and some sort of protein with a vegetable for dinner. I'll have 1/4-1/2 cup of fruit after lunch. I'm not a big snacker but I'm fortunate that I can 4 ounces of protein typically so I don't need to snack. I usually come in at 650-750 a day.

What do you eat for breakfast when you are tired of eggs?
jess9395 replied to Sosewsue61's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Greek yogurt Protein mug cake Anything I eat for any other meal--leftovers are great! -
Had the same issues. I'm 8 weeks out and gagged on every shake I tried. I'm back to Premier chocolate ones because they are tolerable but I have to force it down. BUT that's 30g of Protein in one shot! I also use the Syntex nectar in flavored Water (I love the Raspberry Lemonade Great Value flavor) so that adds another 10g of protein. Another thing that has saved me is eating a lot of Greek Yogurt. Each one is about 11-12g of protein. I learned the hard way though that not getting your protein in will cause your weight loss to STALL. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I follow the rule very closely!! After I eat, I try to get up and do something so I am not tempted to drink or eat something more. My dietician suggested at the end of a meal, take a couple bites of applesauce, yogurt to wash down food without it being liquids. On occasion if we are out to eat, my husband will save me a couple of ice cubes to chew on. It's not that bad... thought it was going to be harder, but it's OK.

How to make cottage cheese and plain yogurt interesting?
Matt Z replied to AEdoesRnY's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can add ALL SORTS of stuff to cottage cheese and plain yogurt (greek works better for savory IMO) It's pretty easy really, just find a seasoning or mix or marinade mix that you enjoy, and mix a bit into the cottage cheese or yogurt. It's going to take some experimentation to get a flavor that you are happy with, but it's legit just as easy as mixing in some premixed powders. And you can add some unflavored protein as well to boost your protein intake. My pre-op was SF jello, watermelon, protein shakes and celery (I could eat as much of this as I wanted)... celery was my go to, since I could eat as much as I needed but it got old very quickly. So I started coating up pre-cut celery with seasonings like "Pub Burger" seasoning or "Maple Bacon" seasoning. And boy did that make things easier to deal with! So, go crazy, find yourself some seasonings you are interested in and start mixing them into your approved foods and just go wild! You never have to sacrifice flavor during this whole process, you just need to play around a bit. -
Food Aversions
Jamieson replied to littlemomma0831's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did experience aversion to food. I wasn't nauseated, but just couldn't stand eating. At about the five week mark I found a couple of things that tasted okay. Then thing started improving and I can eat now. At my worst, yogurt seemed to go down without a problem. I also had peanut butter on Melba toast or 1/2 a toasted English muffin. I love milk, so that helped. -
I am having a baaaaaaaaaaaaad day. I put my faith in a guy and I was let down yet again. I attribute it to my weight and him finding me less than attractive. It's the same scenario every time and it makes me loathe myself. I have lost 28 pounds but sometimes losing that much weight just makes me realize how bad it is because I have so much to go and I haven't really seen much of a difference with the 28 pounds. I mean it's not a huge investment I made in this guy but it still hurts like hell. I have cried today. I have gone to the gym today and I have binged today. This is my first binge/ego hurt since getting banded 2.5 months ago. I didn't think I would binge but I guess it's still possible. I mean the degree to which I did it is so much smaller. I had some frozen yogurt a frappaccino, almonds and sushi (all spaced out throughout the day) but I still feel pretty bad about my sadness and now about eating like I did before. I know old habits are hard to break but it was really the only way I knew how to cope and I still don't really feel any better. I could still probably eat more but that isn't really what I want to do and it isn't make me better. I know I need to learn new habits but I am seriously sitting here feeling miserable and alone. I am really lonely and frankly whats the point of being thin if I am going to be alone forever!?? :myscared:

Starting my pre op friday 5-23
Jenuine629 replied to momheartsdad's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I started my pre op diet yesterday. My surgeon has me on two slim fast shakes a day and one protein veggie meal a day. A small snack of yogurt or fruit is allowed. Yesterday wasn't so bad, but today I'm starving!!! I'm trying to drink a lot of water to help curtail this. I'm in the diet for two weeks prior to surgery. I hope it goes by quick. Good luck to you. -
I love that yogurt. It's got 13 to 15 g of protein per package, so it's a good bang for the calories, in my opinion. Plus you don't have to mess with it.
-
You would have to take sooo many of them to get up to any appreciable level...I think it would be a lot worse than just adding some protein powder to your food (have you tried it in Greek yogurt?) or drinking a shake (I like Premiere protein, 30 g of protein and 160 cals mixed with coffee over ice; I actually look forward to it).

Am on day three... Yesterday she moved me to full liquids.i had a hard time with clear liquids... And getting my protein in... This morning I had half a cup of plain Greek yogurt and it went down pretty well... Does that count towards my protein ! Thanks everyone to responding to my posts. Alyce
