  1. @@Loss78 I was 233 at my highest, 225 morning of surgery and 198 as of Wed. I did figure out that i need to be eating more dense food. My menu is usually protein shakes, chili, yogurt, scallops, tuna, soup. I find that chicken, some rice, heavier foods do fill me more. I also have a nutritionist appt but not till July.
  2. Can you have any vegetables yet? Tonight we had a delicious supper with mashed cooked cauliflower, cooked ground turkey, cheese, and cooked bacon pieces in a light sauce. I am 7 weeks out and can't have any dairy yet so yogurt is out.

    Can't Eat

I am 5 1/2 weeks post-op and according to my post-op diet plan I should be able to enjoy small meals including chicken, fruits and veggies. However, when I even try a small amount of ground meat I get violently ill. What am I doing wrong? Getting pretty bored with yogurt, cottage cheese and the occasional bowl of oatmeal. Suggestions?
  4. Hey, I'm knocking on the door of three weeks out (Monday). According to my program my diet is as follows: yogurt, string cheese, refried Beans, eggs, puréed chicken/turkey, turkey sausage, soy burgers, AND the trusty ol Protein shakes. So here's the problem... All of the above minus the eggs, yogurt, and cheese is way to heavy for me to eat, and is very painful. However, I'm sooooo tired of eggs, yogurt, and string cheese. I've also been having a lot of trouble getting in my Proteins because I'm tired of the Protein Shakes (I was on them for 6 weeks prior to the surgery). I've done Premier, nectar, Isopure...ect. So recently I got some of the ProtiDiet (chicken Soup & Grape), which are better...but aren't on my "program". But I've read other post and see that other programs allow different mushies, such as SF pudding, Cream of Wheat ect. Now, these aren't on my sleeve program, but I'm staying nauseated and dizzy, and I think it's because I'm not eating enough? I don't know what to do...? Rock & a hard place... Any advice?
  5. I am 5 1/2 weeks post-op and according to my diet plan should be able to enjoy some small meals. This however, is not the case. I am stuck with yogurt, cottage cheese and the occasional small bowl of cereal. I get sick every time I have ground meat...I don't eat fast and am barely getting a bite in. What am I doing wrong? Suggestions?

    Protein Ice Cream

Hi everyone! I just found this website yesterday with several Protein ice cream, gelato, frozen yogurt, and popsicle recipes: http://www.proteincakery.com/category/ice-cream-gelato/ The ingredients are a bit more "natural" than those on the last website I posted a link to. I think I need to try the Cherry chocolate Chip frozen yogurt this weekend!

    I'm in need of help.

I am in week 5 and i have found the slow cooker to be a life saver. You can throw just about anything in it and it will be nice and juicey when done. This week I made a pesto chicken(1lb of chicken, small jar of pesto, and 1/2 cup chicken broth on low for 5 hours-at hour 4 shedded the chicken and let it soak up liquid), partnered with some roasted sweat potato and i have dinner for the entire week! I also like deli turkey rolled in a slice of swiss cheese(i like to add cream cheese or greek yogurt to make it a little more moist) and my nut suggest frozen turkey meat balls. I also eat scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, chicken salad, cheese sticks, seasoned ground beef and greek yogurt. As for the shakes, like you i can't stand them. I tried so many different brands, but they all make me gag. I think the problem is that i just don't really like milk. i have tried the nectar fuzzy navel and it was ok, and i tried the Isopure but it was gross. My nut suggested protein2O, but i haven't gotten to the store yet. At this point i gag down one premier Protein in the afternoon and that seems to get me to about 70g of protein for the day(I am suppose to be between 60-90). My nut said that at about 2 months i can try Protein Bars instead of the shakes, so that may be something to talk to your people about. Just hang in there! You are doing great!

    For sleeve veterans

At 3-4 months I could still only eat a couple bites of anything. 1/2 quest bar stuffed me. At 17 months out, I can easily eat a whole quest bar with room to spare. I can consume around 1/2 cup of denser protein or solid veggies, but up to a cup of something like yogurt or soup. I can drink an unending amount of anything, and I can take regular gulps, not just tiny sips.

    Someone please answer!

I had lost 15 at 4 weeks. I am now almost 9 weeks and at 30. I find the same thing, sometimes I feel I can eat a lot more than others. One morning I can eat a whole 5 Oz Yogurt with no problem, the next day I might not..

    I just want to CHEW

I am right there with you! My surgery is Monday and I am dying for a super crunchy salad! I have also done gum and popsicles. I'm thinking of freezing some greek yogurt too. And ice chips. Crunchy ice chips. Argh!
  12. I'm 2 1/2 weeks out. My NUT advanced my diet to the following: yogurt, eggs, cheese, refried Beans, puréed chicken/turkey, veggie patties, and turkey sausage crumbles. But everything is making me nauseated, or hurts when I eat it. I'm trying to drink a lot of Fluid...& am not doing great at Protein (again back to the nausea)... Did anyone else experience this? Did it eventually subside? Any tips?

    Help

I've been doing a fairly good job of staying away from stuff I'm not supposed to eat. I was able to keep carrots and celery and stuff like that that I could use as fillers in my meals. I used small amounts of fruits and berries mixed with plain or sugar free vanilla yogurt. Yogurt made s nice dessert at meals or added to salad as dressing. But it's end of the month and I don't have those right now. I find myself positively longing for some kind of sweet treat. How do I get passed it. Haven't broken yet but Dairy Queen's not that far away. (Also know that something as sweet as a blizzard will probably not even taste that good. My daughter decided I wanted a taste of hers and poked it in my mouth. Too sweet, just the one bite)

    OATMEAL

Oatmeal was on my list of approved foods at the puréed stage. I added Protein to it. I don't eat it regularly only because I get tired of the same things. I do like a light yogurt with protein granola in it. You can find some good granolas out there that taste great and have low sugar and over 10 grams of protein. Unfortunately I cannot do eggs so I find other things.
  15. I had my surgery on the 21st, but don't have my follow up appointment until next Tuesday. In the meantime, I wanted to ask others about a few things.. Is the drinking liquids very slow in sips really necessary? And at a rate of 3oz per hour? Because although I do sip..I have been drinking more than that sometimes in a short time frame & haven't had any problems. Also, is applesauce, yogurt & sugar free pudding ok during the 2 week liquid stage? I wasn't advised that it was, but on some official lapband websites it says they are fine on the liquid part of first 2 weeks. And, liquids...should I just drink them constantly? I have a Protein shake with skim milk for each meal..but other diet/sugar free liquids an be an all day thing? I don't seem to get too full from drinking so I wanted to ask.. And should I get full from having enough liquids? I haven't had the hunger feeling much until today. Now I definitely feel hungry after awhile more & more. Overall I haven't had any problems post op, no gas after the 2nd day..pain was gone for the most part after 3rd day & I am only worried about the transition to regular food and what I will be able and not able to eat. I also am having a hard time with keeping my mind off food :-( I always ate when I was bored so I try to keep busy..but food being all around me still makes me want some! My family is having a big bbq this weekend, tons of food ..and I will sit there with a Protein shake :-/ Thanks :-)

    Helicopter Bacteria

I had to be treated for Hpylori. Had no symptoms either. I had 3 meds one a PPI. Made me horribly nauseated. Had to use an anti nausea patch. Could only eat carbs, starches and some yogurt, cheese. Then after 4 wks had the breath test to make sure bacteria gone. I was praying I wouldn't have to have another round of antibiotics.
  17. Yeah, this is me as well. I can easily take down 8oz. of refried Beans in a 30 minute sitting. A whole portion of yogurt, no problem. I'm a little over 2 weeks out, by the way. I got sick of eating softs and tried some chicken yesterday. While I didn't feel full after 2oz. I still limited myself, just in case.

    I'm in need of help.

Afternoon. I had my surgery in November and have NOT had one Protein drink. It seems that after my surgery, I could not stand the taste. So I consulted with my surgeon and it was okay that I did not drink them. I found other ways to keep the protein coming in. At 5 week I was able to eat a lot of different types of Beans, Peanut Butter, etc that has the protein. I ate yogurt, cottage cheese, soft cheese. Whatever I could find with protein I ate it. I was only able to eat 1 tsp every 2 hours, but I did it. Good luck.
  19. I would recommend ignoring the scale and concentrating on getting your Protein in. Some folks lose faster than others. That really doesn't matter. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle does. There are a ton of protein sources out there-- greek yogurt, fish, and chicken are all great sources. You are 6 weeks out now so should be on more regular food. What types of food do you like? I know there are lots of people here who can give you suggestions. For a Protein shake I make my own: 8 oz milk, 1 5 oz tub light and fit greek yogurt (any flavor) and a handful of fresh raspberries. Put it in the blender and you have a 20 gm protein drink which is tasty. Good luck!

    Issues

@@ishmaellisa, Thanks for sharing more info with us. From what you have described, you are not getting enough Protein and eating too many carbs. That in itself will cause you to stall. No matter how hard it is, you must focus on getting your protein in or you are actually going to get very sick. Protein is important for healing as well as weight loss. I would suggest trying a few different Protein shakes until you find the one that you like. I had trouble myself with whey protein and so my surgeon told me to switch to Premier Protein ready made shakes. They are delicious and I swear you don't get that nasty protein powder taste or grit. Each shake has 30 grams of protein and 1 gram of sugar. chocolate is the best flavor but they also have strawberries and cream as well as vanilla. You can find them at SAMs and costco in bulk or Walgreens has them in smaller packs. Drink them cold and shake them. In addition you are eating a lot of carbs. Mashed potatoes, gravy and fruit are basically all carbs. That will stall you as well. Try yogurt, cottage cheese, Beans for soft foods. If you are allowed true soft foods try chicken and fish. You should be having 2 bites of protein rich foods for every 1 bite of soft vegetables and maybe some canned soft fruit. Then of course you really should be getting a minimum of 64 oz. of Water. All of these things will help you get past this. Did your doctor give you a bariatric diet to follow? If so, they are trying to help you get the most out of your surgery. The first several months you should lose very quickly and then I promise it slows down so you need to take advantage now. Good luck!

    Post op opti fast shakes

I'm 10 days out and my protein shakes for making me nauseous I was on yogurt cream soup's and doing just fine digesting my 2 ounces my next stage was a few days away so I removed myself up to puréed foods just chewed up my cottage cheese well blended lentil soup are refried beans now I'm starting to feel better that I'm getting protein other ways than barely getting to my goal with my shakes
  22. I tried those isopure drinks bcuz I was tired of the milky drinks #yuck it was so awful and then I started feeling like I was getting a coat of something thick on my tongue! I discontinued those immediately! I make myself drink the pure protein I just blend it with a Greek yogurt! I am sick of them but I can tolerate it better with the Greek yogurt blended inside and served over some ice! Good luck in finding a protein that works for you! I think next week I may order the unflavored injury protein?
  23. I just need to go to the grocery store and make some of my Pinterest food ideas. I suck at consistently planning ahead. But I have no choice now. I just have nothing food wise to turn to tonight that'll work. My taste for certain things have changed a lot. I used to love lunch meat, but now it's not really that good. Eggs used to taste good, but not so much. Even cheese isn't that appealing. So basically everything isn't doing it for me. I'm basically living on Popsicles, yogurt and salads, these last few days. I know this will all change. I know the weight won't drop off right away, meaning for all of this to go back to new normal. Whatever that is. I'm still trying to recreate foods I loved from my past, and it's just not working. I'm trying to get that comfort from it I used to. But no luck. My mind knows it's not gonna be the same. I'm working with a Dr to change my thinking about all this. It's still to early for her to know me. So nothing is being achieved yet. I have so many hormone highs and lows going on, and it overwhelming today. These damn antidepressants and Xanax better start kicking in soon. I've had two moments today I felt a sudden burst of happiness with meds. But sh*t I want it all the time. Food was my everything. It was my time with my family on Friday, to go out and eat at restaurant, or summer time grill sessions with my little family. It was comfort when my plans on something isn't going the way I wanted it to. It was a friend to cozy up to, when I needed to veg in front of tv alone to recharge. It was a friend. And now this friend has been banished sorta. Not forever I know. All of those things I said are not healthy ways to feel. Not all bad with family stuff, but that food was the center of the enjoyment. I've been a couch potato with my partner for 12 years now, and I want/need him to not be one with me anymore. And he's not really wanting to change much. He did go hiking once recently, which was awesome. But I need more of that. And it's looking like I'm gonna have to do it on my own. It makes me sad. Maybe he'll see my motivation, and he'll catch the bug to try more. But I can't count on that. Being a new person is really F*#king hard. I knew this going into it and was totally willing cause of all the benefits. I still have no regrets at all. And even writing this has eased some of the hangry mode. I think my hormone changes are all over the place. I had 2 clients tell me I seem different today. I was like, not in a bad way right? The said just more humbug or mellon collie. I'm thinking to myself, I just decided to change my life and have 42 pounds gone, why the humbug, Mellon collie outer appearance? I should be on cloud friggin 9 right now. I think I have some Man Mensies going on lol. Sorry again for getting this off my chest. I'm always a very positive person, it was just my time to gripe for a moment, and I'll be back to me before you know it ????????????❤️
  24. Hi everyone I am 7 days post op and will be starting pureed Friday. Does anyone have fresh ideas other than yogurt, cottage cheese, pudding etc. Any ideas would be so greatly appreciated. Are we allowed anything with sauce and ricotta or has anyone tried stuff like this? Thanks!

Too Much? 6 days post op

What is your protein goal? When I was on clear and full liquids I didn't go to bed until I finished all my protein for the day. If you are short of your goal by all means have another shake or yogurt. Do what it takes to meet your goal.
