    Breakfast cereal

I am not an extremist when it comes to weight loss. I am learning that it takes time. I do understand the issue of sugar and in each "bowel" of this Raisin Bran there is 10 grams of sugar. That doesnt bother me or phase me. I can deal with that. The Gatorade helps to satiate my body; I mix it with my water. And I only had a slice of pizza one third of which I could not finish and have not had pizza since. Go easy on me I am not a bad person or a liar as you (SillyKitty) insinuated.

Here's the thing ... you complain you haven't lost weight, that your sleeve isn't working. You post that you are: Drinking Gatorade, eating Raisin Bran, eating Cheez-its, eating dates, eating pizza, and those are just what you posted about. None of us are perfect, but you said you bought large quantities of Gatorade, multiple 32 serving boxes of Cheezits, 96 servings of Raisin Bran, 10 lbs of dates. That is some sort of commitment to not following a sensible plan. "I am allowed 225 - 325 grams of carbs per days" ... I think you have seriously misread your plan. Because as posted above that is the equivalent of 6+ bagels. You said you are only eating 500 cals per day, and not losing, while posting about the foods I mentioned above. It just doesn't add up, especially for a guy, who usually lose weight faster than women. You are either lying to yourself, or to us.
  3. Our bodies like to stay fat... but the surgery will work. Give it time. I got frustrated at 2.5 weeks with my first stall, then dropped another 10, now i'm on my second stall at 5 weeks. I think my body is just adjusting. Overall, I'm still losing several pounds per week, it just doesn't happen in a straight line, and that is OK. Your body will kick into gear again!
  4. I had my lap band for 9 years. Up to the sixth year I was living life and got down to 160lbs. One morning I woke up and when I ate I just started vomiting. I thought well maybe after something warm it would be better. That was the beginning of my hell. I had moved from Fort Lauderdale to Jacksonville so my insurance was different. They would not pay for anything that had anything to do with the lap band. So I literally suffered. My gastro told me to unfill my band and once I could find a surgeon here to do it I had it unfilled. I still vomited. Between my gastro, primary doctor and my bariatric surgeon they went through hoops with the insurance company because this was a severe medical issue. They wouldn't budge. I just ate at that point what I could get down. Fast forward. I was sleeved 8/17/18. I had my lap band removed and there were so many adhesions it took the surgeon and hour and a half to remove it. It had adhered not only to my liver but other organs. After he sleeved me he had an endo done in the OR and realized I had a hiatal hernia. He went to repair it with even more scarring because my previous surgeon cauterized my hernia instead of repairing it. I am telling you now that lap bands are 80% failure rate at 10 years. Its not to scare you. Its to prevent you from what I just went through. It was horrible. The pain for the first week was horrendous. My surgery that should have only taken 1.5 hours took over 4 hours and a half was just removing scar tissue. Anyone that gets the band gets scar tissue and the longer its in there the more scar tissue you will get. My surgeon refuses to even do lap bands anymore. I don't blame him and if I knew then what I know now, I would never get a lap band again.
  5. Ok, this is nit picky, but 10 seconds in I'm turned off by full-proof vs. fool proof. Ugh, maybe I'm just terrible ....

    Breakfast cereal

New research shows that carbs are very very good for you. And there is nothing wrong with 10 grams of sugar. I am allowed a certain amount of carbs per day, obviously. 27 carbs is nothing. Seeing as a have one of these little bowels of cereal is not going to hurt me. My lunch and dinner consist of canned protein shakes. Given that, there is nothing wrong with these little bowels of breakfast cereal.

    Help after surgery

I can relate. I had a lot of pain in the beginning. Some of it was related to constipation and some was related to an incision getting a superficial infection. I'm still not sure what all was going on, but I know the pain you are talking about. It slowly got better. I did have a 5 day round of antibiotics that I started on my 14th day after surgery. If I had to go back, I would have seen my doctor sooner and started antibiotics a little earlier. Have you tried a heating pad? I was told I could use a heating pad for 10 minutes on and 10 minutes off.

    Breakfast cereal

I found these little bowels of Raisin Bran that come in a box of 96 for 32.00 on Amazon. They only have 10 grams of sugar. 4 Fiber. 27 carbs. 230 potassium. No fat. It also has a lot of different vitamins in it. They are the perfect little size to fill me up. They are the right amount for breakfast with my sleeved stomach. They also have 3 grams of protein.

    I guess I’m regretting a little...

Regret is so common at this stage. I had major regrets the first two months. I wanted to take it all back. ((now I have minor regrets due to gnarly GERD)) Truth is, only the super obese are going to lose those magical 50 pounds in a month. Us run-of-the mill fatties are going to lose 20-30 in the first month. And that is still great. What is even better is that you can count on another 10-20 a month if you stick to program during the honeymoon period. Keep your chin up and best of luck.

    Non Scale Victories

I have had many NSVs in the last 6 months since my surgery: Not worrying about fitting in the seats at the amusement park TUCKING IN MY SHIRT...I've never actually done that Having my kids arms go the whole way around when they hug me New clothes, new shoes Riding bike again after 10+ years Feeling proud I am almost 6 months post-op. No regrets, only wish I had done it sooner!

GERD but want to have sleeve

Thanks. I have read the research on esophageal cancer and GERD. Basically about 5-10% of those with GERD get Barrett's esophagus, and Only about 1% of those people will get esophageal cancer. That’s a pretty slim chance. Not 0%, but still low. I have endoscopes every 5 years or so and so far, all is good.
  12. I struggle with Premier Clear. Although, after a month only only making it through 4 bottles of 12, I tried to mix it with my Sqwinchers zero fruit punch (about 1/2 & 1/2) and it's finally tolerable. I haven't tried any other flavor than tropical punch, mainly because I can't find it in most stores and about $10 more on Amazon.

    Assumptions

Having WLS and losing the first 70kg (150 lbs or so) was definitely about my health. However, now that everyone is telling me that I better be “done” losing. I’ve realized I want to lose a little more for vanity. I always said I’d be happy at Australian size 14 (US 10) but why not see if my body can go any lower? I’m not hurting anyone. I still have a few kg/9 lbs till I hit a healthy BMI so why not? It amuses me to no end that a couple of people have commented that I’m becoming “anorexic”. I mean, seriously!!

Recommended Videos to Keep Your Mind Off Food

Yeah, and I was being really loud yelling during the whole thing. It was an eat in theater so it wasn't nearly as dark as normal theaters. The lighting there to make it able for you to eat out shined the light from my phone 10 fold.

GERD but want to have sleeve

Didn't have it before surgery. Was sleeved 10 days ago and I had gerd last night for the first time. Probably has to do with the sugar free popsicles I had a half hour before bedtime. Omeprozal works for me. -EQ
  19. Lol! 1-2 inches isn't significant differences cuz we both probably measure in different areas and with different amount of tension. I have one pair of size 10 skinny jeans I can get on but I can't sit down in or walk in. Lol!! What counts is the pattern of change over time using the same places and same amt of tension. We're probably close to the same size but you have a smaller hiney and legs than I do! 😂

TIPS to get back on track!

I do two of the things mentioned above @GreenTealael mentioned, I try to stave off hunger by drinking fluids. Similar to @FluffyChix mentioned, I focus on my commitment to weight loss, and making one good choice at a time (choosing jerky over a brownie for instance) I also focus on my NSV, and how great those make me feel, crossing my legs without even thinking about it, wearing size 10 jeans, wearing size M shirts, easily fitting in an airplane seat, feeling sexy af, lol. This is vain, but I also think about the compliments I have received. It's one thing to think I look great, but it is affirming to hear others say it.
  21. Ok, I'll start this. I'm about 6 1/2 months out from RNY surgery. I'm down 123.6lbs from my most recent high weight of 287lbs as of last May 5, 2017. You can see my stats in the signature panel and on the left side of each post. I love my surgery and have few problems--in fact, my pouch is named Iron Will cuz nothing bothers it except a high fat diet--then I will wish I'd died. I'm starting IF because I had amazing results with it before a cancer dx and used it all throughout treatment. It protected my healthy cells and exposed the cancer cells to vulnerability. I am on a cancer drug that causes super-menopause--shutting down as much estrogen and progesterone as possible. So I'm terribly hormone-imbalanced and losing is harder than it should be. I also have thyroid issues that I'm dealing with as a result of life-long PCOS (metabolic disease). I will do a bunch of gyrations with my IF--far more than most would need to do--so don't think "my plan" is the proper way to IF. I think most people don't have to jump through the extreme hoops I have to jump through in order to lose weight and stem inflammation--my ultimate goal. I found ADF using the JUDDDD plan years ago. This doc who developed it was one of the pioneers in modern-day IF. JUDDDD stands for The Johnson Up Day Down Day Diet or ADF (Alternate Day Fasting Diet). You can get the book here. It's a very easy and effective plan and is based in part on the work of Dr. Valter Longo and his SIRT (longevity gene) research. It's based on growing telomeres to counter-balance the effects of aging. The diet also helps reduce inflammation and is very good for asthma/allergies in addition to helping a whole bunch of chronic diseases. Here are my beginning stats. I will weigh in weekly and will add my measurements every month on the 20th. I'm beginning this IF journey on Labor Day 2018. Cuz you know...why not do something fairly hard on a national holiday lol. My personal JUDDD plan will include alternate days of 500cals. The other alternating days will be normal eating patterns between 900-1200 cals. In addition, I will continue my low carb diet and will keep the following macros as much as I can. My plan says that being 100cals one way or the other makes little difference. So I won't sweat being a couple cals or grams over or under. Down Days (DD) 500 cals: 60%Protein (75g); 15%Carbs (19g--total non-net); 25%Fat (14g); fiber where I can; <10g daily natural sugars Up Days (UD) aka Normal Days 1000 cals: 30% Protein (75g); 15%Carbs (50g--total non-net); 55%Fat (61g); 25g Fiber; <15g daily natural sugars Intermediate Medium Day 750 cals: 40% Protine (75g); 15%Carbs (28g--total non-net); 45%Fat (38g); as much fiber as possible; <10g daily natural sugars Alternating Schedule: M-W-Th: DD Sat: MD Fri-Sun: UD Oh, and I forgot to mention that I'm also going to be eating within a 14:10 schedule which means, 14 hours fasting (currently considered the optimal fasting/eating window for females) and 10 hours opportunity to eat scheduled meals. I eat roughly 3-4 hours between meals. So I will be available to eat between 11am-9pm keeping roughly the 3-4 hours between meals. 09.03.18 Weight: 166.4lbs 08.20.18 Measurements: Chest 40.5 Waist 32.5 Hips 41.5 Neck 13.5 Right Thigh 22 Left Thigh 22 Right Arm 11 Left Arm (Lymphedema from cancer) 12.5

    Intermittent Fasting

Oh I understand, I'm 10 months post op, my hunger returned long ago, just not to the level of days past. My calories are at Max and have been since early on. Not sure which habits you are referring to however.

    Intermittent Fasting

@Green Tealael-- Hey girl, I'm starting my first JUDDDD day today. 500cals. I think I will also do 14:10. I'm ditching the Premier Protein in the coffee and have gone back to black and am also ditching the stevia. So with JUDDDD (Johnson Up Day Down Day Diet or The Alternate Day Diet) you cut calories every other day and eat a "normal" plan on the alternating days. I'm pretty excited to try it out again! But I do think I will do 14:10 every day--cuz it's pretty close to what I do normally anyway. I think I'm gonna go back to posting on "My Story" area to track my daily IF experiment and food journal. Instead, would you want to do an IF thread in the Post Op Food area and post our daily food/sometimes piccys?
  25. Creekimp13 thank you so much for sharing this video!!! I know I have a Hiatal hernia ( diagnosed several years ago) and plan on having VSG surgery soon. I meet the surgeon for the first time on 9/10. This was very informative as I was wondering how the hernia issue might possibly be handled.
