Height: 5'9 Highest Weight: 216 1st Goal Weight: 169 Sleeved: (8/17/2012): 216 lbs Week 1 (8/24): 204.8 (-11.2) Week 2 (8/31): 200.6 (-4.2) Week 3 (9/7): 196.8 (-3.8) Week 4 (9/14): 193.5 (-3.3) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~> 9/17/12- 1 Month Anniversary w/Pics Posted in Blog Week 5 (9/21): 191.6 (-1.9) Week 6 (9/28): 190.1 (-1.5) Week 7 (10/5): 187.0 (-3.1) Week 8 (10/12): 181.9 (-5.1) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~> 10/17/12- 2 Month Anniversary **While it doesn't look like I'm getting a ton of definition, I'm actually "de-swelling" pretty evenly and not all from one spot. Everything has shrunk from a size 14 (*cough* more like a 16 *cough*) pre-op to me fitting into my size 10 jeans. I never took measurements, but my clothing is pretty much telling the story for me. And the shorts I'm wearing in my 2 month pic wouldn't even go up my thighs 2 months ago- total NSV and now my favorite pool deck lounging booty shorts. I'm still swimming 5 days a week, and I'm getting really close to my first personal goal of 169, which is the highest allowable weight according to my BMI chart. In 2 weeks I got Halloween, and in 3 weeks my Birthday. I'm really stepping it up in workouts and extra stuff just so that I can be prepared to take pics with friends and be happy, and actually smiling in all my pics. I'm ready for pics with friends finally!!!
  2. Week 20 Last week’s weight – 201.6 This week’s weight – 200.2 Total weight lost this week – 1.4 Beginning weight – 246 lbs Total weight loss since surgery – 45.8 lbs Average weekly weight loss since surgery – 2.2 lbs I lost 1.4 lbs this week but still haven’t hit onederland yet (maybe next week). This week I have not been exercising as much as I would have liked primarily because I went back to work after the summer off. On the plus side I’ve been so busy at work that I think that is what helped shed some of the weight this week. I tried a free Crossfit session this past weekend and enjoyed it. It is quite expensive ($110/month) so I am not sure if that is something I would join or not. Still looking at the Y at $50/month. I need to get my exercise motivation up a bit. NSV - We've been off for several weeks for summer break and I have been getting lots of compliments from staff members now that I am back (particularly from staff at other schools whom I haven't seen for awhile). That has made me feel good this week

Week 20 (5 Months Post Op)

You are kicking butt! And sooo close to onederland - I bet you will reach it next week, maybe even be below just hitting it. You should check Groupon, I know that the power house gym in my area is having a good sale on there for a few months of gym time. Maybe there are some in your area too? Congrats on the NSV! Sounds like a lot of people are noticing.
  4. PATRIOTS all the way, going to be 19-0!!! Major NSV for me on Sunday....I was asked by my company to work at the Patriots game at Gillette Stadium for 2 hours before the game at an indoor tailgate party, open bar and free food, then I was given 2 tickets to the game and free parking.... I fit in the seat with room to spare....Didnt lose my breath walking up the stairs and I had a great time!!

    Checking my weight

I weighed in daily while on the losing part of the journey. As with others, I did not let a weight gain derail me as long as I knew it wasn't due to poor decisions on my part. Now that I've transitioned into the maintenance phase, I weigh weekly. If I find this is enough to keep me accountable, I may move to monthly as well. There's a wonderful thread out there...i wish I can recall the topic title but it's all about the NSVs and the positive changes that happen while you are losing. It's a much healthier way of looking at the journey rather than doing it by focusing on the numbers.

    You won't believe this NSV

Glad you are ok and yes I totally get your NSV!

    Bathroom Stalls~NSV

What wonderful NSV's to look forward too!!!! As it is, I'm such a germ-a-phob that I cringe if I have to even use a public restroom but then having the back of my legs hit the toilet as I'm squishing my fat body in to shut the door just has me immediately take my pants off when I get home & toss in the washer! LOL! I'm sure at nearly 300 lbs, I probably wouldn't even fit in an airplane restroom anymore either! I'm so excited for your NSV's tho ladies!!! Keep them coming!!! Give us all hope!!

Help! I Am Getting Cold Feet!

I thought I was going to wear a hole in my carpet from pacing. I knew it was the right thing, even though I turned out to be incredibly slow in losing weight. I have almost 50 NVS, which averages 8 NVS a week. 4 pounds gone since May, but about 33 NSVs since May.
  9. had an amazing Non Scale Victory today- I have been wearing my grandmothers engagement ring on my right ring finger and my Tiffany's ring on my left middle finger.. well they have been getting looser and looser so today I finally decided it was time to resize them.. My gramma's ring went from an 8 to a 6 for my ring finger and my Tiffany went from a 9 to a 7.25! holy cow im losing inches from all over the place!!!!!
  10. I can see the lady bits! I went to do some... Er... Landscaping earlier and i didn't have to go in blind!!!

    New Goal

That's an awesome goal!! And totally attainable!! My first 5k is going to be this spring....it's a personal NSV I'm trying to reach. But a weight goal for me is to be in "onederland" by February 15. My husband bought be tickets to see luke bryan and I want to be under 200 by then!! I'm 217 now, so I really think I can do it if I don't kill myself over the holidays!! Wish me luck!

    No longer in "Mommy Jeans"

That is so great! I haven't worn jeans in decades. I would consider being able to wear Mom Jeans as an NSV myself.

What do you need to keep yourself on track, show the world who you are and remind yourself of what you’ve accomplished? Tickers and trackers, of course! Tickers let you mark your BMI, body fat, weight and countdown to surgery. They show your starting value, where you currently are and your goal value. Trackers are for recording your current body measurements. You get to customize them by choosing what they look like. We encourage you to make your tickers and trackers public, so that they are displayed when you post in the forums. That helps you stay and inspires your fellow bandsters. If you’re a little shy, you can make your ticker private so that only you see it. Lap-Band Helps Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan Look a Little More Athletic You already know that it doesn’t feel so good to have other people look at you and judge you because of your weight. It had to be tough for Rex Ryan, head coach of the New York Jets pro football team, to regularly be on national television weighing 338 pounds, and it probably didn’t help his ability to move around the football field while coaching. He got the lap-band in Since then, he’s lost close to 90 pounds. He’s approaching his goal weight of 250 pounds, and he looks a lot more comfortable in his clothes. He’s had no serious side effects beside slight indigestion following a post-game celebration, and he’s even inspired his younger brother, Rob Ryan, to get the band. Whom will you inspire? What do you think of the story? Post your thoughts and any lap-band talk news stories you see in the LapBandTalk.com News Forum! Coming Soon: Member Spotlights! We introduced them in the previous newsletter, and they’re coming soon…Keep your eyes peeled for member spotlights! Each LapBandTalk.com newsletter that comes out from now on will feature a different member. You’ll get to read all about our honorees. We’ll be Contacting You Soon! Don’t forget to post in the member spotlight forum to nominate yourself or another Bandster! Don’t be shy about it. Your story can make the difference in someone’s life. Within the coming weeks, many of you will be contacted through the LapBandTalk.com PM system about becoming a spotlighted member. Bandster Challenge! Highlights from the Last Challenge and a New Challenge to Try! Each Bandster Newsletter, we’ll give you a challenge. You can always find the latest news about the current challenge and check out the old ones in the Challenge Forum. The Challenge is a non-competitive way to push yourself to try something new or unusual. We encourage you to let everyone know how you did on the Challenge by posting in the Challenge Forum. Roundup of the Previous Bandster Challenge: Try a New Food! In the last newsletter, we suggested trying a new food or recipe that was healthy and a good fit for your meal plan. You can check out member contributions in the Bandster Challenge Forum. Here are three good ones. Breakfast – Cream Cheese Pancakes from MadcapMama. These pancakes are high in protein, low in calories and a sweet way to start your day. Lunch – Tandoori Chicken Salad from SageTracey. This salad has tzatzitki dressing – it’s a great for your lunch or dinner. It has 166 calories per serving, but SageTracey says she couldn’t even finish it all. Dessert – Vanilla Ice Cream with Peanut butter from imperfect 1974. What else is there to say? Thanks to the three of you for sharing your culinary expertises! Don’t forget that you can always go back, try the old Bandster challenges and post your experience. Going public is a great way to motivate yourself, and other members can learn from your experiences! The New Challenge: Share a NSV! Okay, first of all, what does NSV mean? It’s short for a Non Scale Victory, and it’s just what it sounds like. It’s a victory related to your lap-band journey but not related to the number on the scale. We all have disappointing weigh-ins at some point, but it’s not all about the weight. The journey is about getting healthy, loving life and having new, positive experiences. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in the number on the scale that we forget to celebrate the other victories that are just as important. This Newsletter’s challenge is to recognize a new NSV and write about it in the Challenge Forum. An NSV can be anything that makes you realize what positive steps you’ve taken for yourself. Some possible NSV’s that you recognize might be: Going to a baseball game and fitting into the seat. Buying your new summer swimsuit in a regular store. Keeping your cool while you eat a meal with your hypercritical mother-in-law. Don’t be shy about sharing your NSV on the Challenge Forum. You can help other Bandsters learn to recognize their own NSVs and take pride in them! So that’s about it for this week’s newsletter, but there’s never a dull moment at LapBandTalk.com! Come by and post often, and be sure to share your opinions, advice and feedback. See you on the boards! Sincerely, Alex ============================================================== If you no longer wish to receive this newsletter, you may unsubscribe by going to your Control Panel and clicking on the Newsletters tab, or clicking on the following link: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/index.php?app=core&module=usercp&tab=newsletter

    How different do you feel?

I started my weight loss journey October 1, 2010 when a doctor told be he'd be at my funeral within 2 years if I did not change. I than lost 176 pounds in just under 2 years, than I sat at the same weight for nearly a year and than decided to get banded. I use to wear a 7X only could special order clothing. 3 years ago I had a home health care worker I was in such bad shape, I couldn't even do my own house work! Now I do it all! Wear a size 14, and have lost nearly 200 pounds. I was banded July 24th this year and there is no looking back for me. No regrets here at all! Some ow the NSV's of weight loss are, before the loss I went to the zoo with my family and had to sit down every 15-20 feet, I got in and they had to take me out in a shuttle! My boy friend took me to the zoo and we ran all over for 8 hours and I never stat down once! I have been able to walk for miles just enjoying a fantastic day with him. He is 16 years younger than I am and I never could have kept up with him before. Life is fantastic and just keeps getting better! I never thought 58 would be so darn good! Best wishes to you!!

This is a great NSV!!!You probably deserve a new pair or 2. Best wishes,Karen
  22. My sister in law gave me a crapload of clothing in mid December. I was amazed and very little fit at the time but.... Today I am able to wear a pair of the jeans she sent! She had surgery a year ago - and told me that I would be the last to notice until my clothes got big. Yesterday I noted a pair of my pants were too big....so today I tried these jeans. Blue jeans! 44 pounds from the day I came home from surgery. 40 pounds on record! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
