    Nsv!

I fit in the booth at a restaurant where I never fit before I dropped something in my car today by my feet and was able to reach it My tight pants are becoming lose I was able to play street hockey with my husband for a few minutes... And run to get the ball... Granted I sucked at it but it's something that would have made me run out of breath before I feel like I may want to join a local sports team one day I was able to watch my husband eat pizza and not be too jealous... My confidence is up A guy at work today said I'm looking sleek!!! I ate half a banana and got full And for a scale victory... I'm under 300!!!

    Every day is a choice!

thanks for the post. I really needed this today!!! I am in SE Kansas where it has flooded. My home not hurt however was flooded in town with my Assisted Living, and our church is a Red Cross shelter and we are doing the food. Things have been sooooooooooooo crazy! I told DH tonight on our 1 hour drive around the h20 to get home, i have to get back on schedule.. it has been easy to pick. I have dropped 50# in 7 weeks, which i am very happy with. actually that was in 5 weeks and i haven't weighed since i have to go to drs to be able to weigh. I had a NSV this weekend before the flood, i have gone from 5x shirts to a comfortable 3x yahoo. and down 2 pants sizes. So i am the one that is rambling but thanks for the post on choice.. I choose to live and to make a difference in my life. thank you!!!!!

    So...a water park happened...

@LipstickLady. That was an awesome NSV for you. It makes us truly grateful for our new lives when we can remember how it used to be. Weight loss is very freeing. I am so happy you had a great time. I too remember how I used to struggle to keep up while never complaining because I didn't want others to see how hard it was for me. I haven't been to a water park yet, but it is on my agenda. Congrats to you!!
  8. I was sleeved August 25th. Starting SW 210, CW 190. I'm 5'2. I have also lost 20# and have been at this weight for 2 weeks. I have stalled a couple times. When I do- I lose inches. I had a NSV yesterday. Went to the outlet mall to buy a couple bras and asked them to measure me. The girl told me I was a 40 C! I had been a 44 DD. I was certain she was wrong, no way was I going to be able to wear a C cup. Well- she was right!! I was doing a happy dance and thanked her at the checkout!!!!

    So...a water park happened...

Congrats. That is a pretty large list of NSV's (and technically one SV, I guess!) for one day! I hope to be in your shoes next summer, not dreading our annual trip to the amusement/water park.
  10. tinfoil, how about just hug yourself. The sleeve is merely a tool, it did not do this, you did! There are those that have a sleeve that find ways to bug the system, and don't lose. Be proud of your accomplishments. I don't think of the sleeve as the hero in the story, I think of myself as the hero. It's a wonderful feeling to be happy, and have those nsv's!! Good for you.

  14. Hi all, Last week was a GREAT week for me! I had a huge list of NSVs that I wanted to share with you all.... 1. My office has a gym/recreation center. But the space is a bit cramped. They have many indoor games - the most popular ones are carroms and chess, and I'm pretty good at carroms. I always only play carroms and have never tried any other 'physical' games. But last week, a friend offered to teach me table tennis. I never thought that the game was so physically demanding! BUT I was able to play for 45 mins straight!!!!!! I was soooo happy and was beaming (and sweating) the whole time! Now I'm addicted to the game. I'm not very good at it - my hand-eye coordination can be better - but I'm learning the game and hope to be better at it. That is a huge NSV for me!! 2. We have a annual sports meet at our office headquarters every year and the carroms competition happened yesterday (saturday). A systems technician who used to work in my branch was transferred to the head office at the end of last year and he had not seen me for more than 6 months. He was there for the competition and he did a double take when he saw me. He came to me and asked "So where is the other half, mam?" I just laughed and said I got rid of the other half coz she was high maintenance. I was so proud of myself at that point - it is insane.... 3. Similar thing happened when my cousin, who is away for college, visited my house in the summer hols. He has not seen my since right after my surgery. He was amazed that I had lost so much weight. He mentioned that I looked just like when I had just graduated out of college (that was in 2004). Of course I treated him to a great lunch for saying such a sweet thing! LOL! 4. My clothes are falling off! LOL! I cant believe that I'm happy to have ill fitting clothes... I have lost a total of 24.5 inches so far. The biggest inch loss is in my chest and waist (my belly is melting off LOL). I have gone from a 47 to 43 inch in my chest, from 46.5 to 40 in my waist, 54.5 to 49 in my lower abdomen. I have had very little inch loss in my arms and calves (only 1 inch in arms and 2.5 inches in calves). But I'm quite happy with the overall results. Sorry for a long post but I couldnt contain my excitement. Had to share it with my VST family! Keep up the good job guys! I'm so motivated I'm going to hit that gym frequently. My trainer will not know what hit him today LOL
  15. So..trying to be Wonder Woman.. I hurt my back today. I went to my doc for a medrol dose pck and liquid nasty pain meds so I can walk. Anyway...one of the nurse practioners that helped me during my pre-op stage that had not seen me after my surgery saw and and freaked!!! She said "holy cow you are amazing...I have other patients who have had the sleeve and you are rocking yours!". LoL..teehee for me! And now that I have had a pain shot..and oral pain meds.. Would you believe that I still feel my back??? Oh well..once I get that steroid down it will feel better!
  16. Life's pace has definitely picked up with being back and work and all. The challenges of time have definitely been affecting me. Especially - time to eat right, time to make good decisions and time to log what's been going on. I promised myself that I'd blog to keep up with my progress and empty out what's in my head so I don't lose track of the thoughts. So 14lbs in the first week is a LOT to live up to. I haven't lost that much more since - of course my scale is schitzo which is good in a way cause it keeps me off of there. But if I were to venture a guess from the last time i tried to sneak on there looks like i'm down another 2 or 4 lbs (depends on what direction I lean in on the scale LOL). So I'm down to either 222 or 224. I'll go with 224 just so that anything less will pleasantly be surprised. I started to get a little bummed when I thought to myself - i'm down past 230 which I haven't been in a long time AND yesterday when I got out of the car, the hubby called me "skinny girl". Clothes have been fitting WAY better... theres a bunch of NSVs to be had so I can't get wrapped up in the numbers. What I do need to do though is make sure I incorporate enough exercise EVERY DAY. I go in on the weekends but I get so caught up on the weekdays. And I MUST make time to make my protein shake in the morning otherwise, the rest of the day falls like dominoes with poor decisions -whether it means that I'll eat something I really shouldn't be or decide not to eat at all - which is an equally bad decision. Something I've learned since the swelling has gone down is that... I can totally eat just the way I used to. I think if I tried to throwback a bacon cheese burger... I could do it w/o getting "stuck" or "slimed" or any of that. But the beautiful thing is that... I HAVEN'T. The worst I've done was to have a hamburger patty with a little avocado. No bread, no bacon no nothing. And I ate it... SLOW. And I drank something 15 min later. So I get it. All this time before they actually activate you is to get you to train your own mind about what you need to be doing in order to be successful. Now i just have to keep it going, get some real activity in and watch the change roll in.

    Finally fun nsv

Flirting_ one of my favorite NSVs. glad you had fun!
  20. So I'm in college, and in some of the big lecture halls they have those tiny seats with the little desks that fold down on the sides of the seats. Before surgery I always had to scoot way over or stand up while the person next to me pulled their desk up because my legs/butt were all squished up against it, holding it down. But today, my friend next to me pulled her desk out and I didn't even notice because my butt was no longer touching the sides of my seat. Whoohoo!

    Non Scale Victory (NSV)

Sleep is a wonderful thing ... so glad I'm sleeping through the night again, finally! I read it as a NSV ... so maybe my brain isnt fully functioning yet. Good thing it's Friday.
  22. What a great NSV trystelle! That must be such a great feeling... Ok, I feel like such a loser, and not in a good way. I had to come back early from my workout today because I could not finish it. Ugh. I feel like I did before I actually worked out. I don't know what happened but I started workout 3 of week 3. Did the 90 sec run. Felt good. Actually, I felt like I was going really slow and that I could have gone much faster. I didn't. I kept pace and I actually felt really good. I felt like a runner. I started the 90 second walk. Felt good. Started the 3 min run. Didn't feel so good. I was good for about 1 min into it, then all of a sudden my heart rate jumped up from 155 to 175, sweat started to pour, and I felt super nauseous. I finished the run and decided to do the 3 min walk to see if things got better. Running wise, I felt good, no joint pain, back pain, heel spur in check, but I was just so nauseous and sweaty, so much more sweaty than usual (usually I'm pretty damn sweaty). Finished the 3 min walk and decided to do the next 90 sec run. Did 60 seconds and decided to quit. I finished with a 5 min walk at the end, but didn't do the 2nd 3 min run. I don't know what happened tonight. Usually I feel really good when I workout. Has this happened to anyone??? It really sucks, because I totally didn't want to go, then I came on here, and was sooooo motivated. Then I couldn't do it anyways. I kinda feel like I should have just stayed home.....

    Why

Well if you see re-shaping happens then you get the stalls probably because you're doing everything right - ie - - say you lose 5 pounds of fat but and maybe 3 or 4 inches, but you also gained 8 pounds of muscles .. see you got healthier but gained 3 pounds.. I wouldn't worry - the other NSVs are more important than the scale. Keep it up, you're an inspiration I can't wait to be where you are right now!

    “Non scale victories...”

There is a whole thread on here for NSVs. But just a warning - don't count on all of your medical issues to disappear even if you lose a good amount of weight. Not all health problems that doctors say are caused by your weight are really caused by your weight. Some are genetic, like high blood pressure and cholesterol. Actually, cholesterol can increase right after surgery as your body releases certain hormones. Congratulations on having surgery, but remember that "health" is more than just your blood pressure or other medical conditions. Health has a lot to do with how you feel. I have lost 112 lbs and I feel great being able to fit more comfortably in places and wear "regular" clothes. I also move more comfortably and walk faster. But I was promised so many things - like having more energy - that I have not experienced. Good luck!

    Nsv

Congratulations ! You're doing a great job ! Its those Nsv's that will keep you motivated when the scale is'nt moving . You will start noticing little things happening that you did'nt see coming, but are very encouraging. YOU"RE AWESOME !!!!!!!! I was so excited too , when i got banded last December, 2011. My Dr agreed that if i followed the food rules 95% of the time, got my fills as needed, and exercised 3-4 x a week, i would be successful. Well, he was right ! Im down 42 lbs, gone from a size 18 to a size 14, and look and feel 100 better ! Yesterday a female co-worker ( who had the band several years ago) said to me "I hope you dont take this the wrong way, but your ass looks amazing !" We couldnt stop laughing !!!!!!!! Heres hoping you ass starts looking amazing too ! Best of luck !
