sKIN CARE PRODUCTS ANY IDEAS FOR HELPING WITH LOOSE SKIN
voodoo replied to CHERITCH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like you are not getting enough Water. This will help a lot with the deflated look. Are you drinking caffenated drinks? They are dehydrating. Also...smoking dulls the skin. Sounds like you could use a mild peel to help bring that "glow" back to the face. If you aren't exfoliating then you will get dead skin build up...this will dull the skin quickly. pumpkin or lactic peels are good for this. You can do an at home peel and mask for cheap and it's fantastic for the skin. Ingredients 1/2 avocado 1/4 banana 2-3 TBs full fat plain yogurt 1-2 TBs Honey Avocado has so many awesome qualities for the skin. It nourishes it and moisturizes like crazy. Banana is healing and moisturizing. The lactic acid in yogurt will "eat" away the dead stuff. Expect it to tingle. Honey is humectant which means it draws moisture to itself from the air. Mix them thoroughly and slather on clean face (neck and chest if you have enough). It will feel funny and it kinda looks like someone puked on you...but its worth it. Leave on 15-20 minutes. Rinse off. (BTW...I'm an aesthetician.) -

I was banded on 08/12/2009…The first week was all fluids and I did a great job without being hungry or cheating...Now that I can have puree food it feels like I can hold more down and I am not feeling full but because of the horror stories I only eat what is recommended….and I have been drinking a lot of fluid. After reading the blogs I guess it is normal since my stomach is healing but in my mind I have a small opening and should not eat the incorrect things because it might get stuck.. from my understanding restrictions start after the first fill so I will count this month as the placebo month….

Stay away from the scale!
goodnuff replied to leag78's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I can not do it daily, or even weekly. If it doesn't go down enough it throws my day off. And Lord have mercy if it goes up. Right now, while single digits won't make or break me I'm weighing every 3-4 weeks...it's a guaranteed loss from the previous weight and I haven't stepped off the scale without a Cheshire sized grin on my face yet. Once I'm at goal I'll probably weigh weekly to make sure I'm staying within 5 pounds of it. It's interesting how even this part of the journey is individual for each of us, what works for one doesn't work for another. We all have to learn what motivates and what discourages us. -

Hello, My name is DeNesha and I was banded on 2/25/2011 last Friday. I was on a clear-liquid diet for 4 days prior to surgery and now I am on a liquid diet still and I am losing my mind. If I strain another can of Soup or see another pot of broth I feel like I am going to cry. So I had to test the Water to see if I was ready to go onto at least puree and everything seems fine. I am still healing and I am so scared that I am going to do damage and I know that is to be avoided. I CHEATED and ate a banana and steamed carrots yesterday and it was GREAT... although that shouldn't be my focus. I need help. Any suggestions or Newbies that know how I am feeling... I go see my surgeon tomorrow (getting my staples removed whoohoo!!!!) and my Dietician. Also any suggestions on Protein powder or products.. I have been using powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury and Muscle Milk Light and I need other options....I'm bored with the same ole taste/flavors.. -DeNesha -
I agree with the ladies above. I'm slow loser, only 39lbs since banded 03/07/2011. But I look like I've lost a lot more. I'm down 3 sizes in clothes due to inches lost. Good Luck.

Thanks, BG -- I know you've lost a bunch, too! I guess I'll repost this next week for a true update. I'm leaving to Mexico tomorrow for a week's vacation. And I put off having my fill until I get back to make darn sure I don't experience problems down there. So I'm pretty wide open at the moment - ack! : ) Actually, I'm not worried about weight gain. I'm going to go have a ball, not have a care in the world, and just chill on the beach. If there's a small weight gain, I'll just deal with it when I get back and get my next fill. : ) Happy Halloween, everybody - see ya' in a week!

I have been waiting for this day. Approval from my insurance company. When I picked up the phone and it was Dr. Srikanth's patient coordinator on the other end, I suddenly got nervous. She said 3 words You are approved. I jumped up and down like I won the lottery. I couldn't stop smiling. I called a few friends and shared the fantastic news. I am doing this for me and doing this so I can live a long and productive life. I want to do athletic things with my children and not let my genetic make-up and food continue to rule my life. I've been going through all the steps necessary to get my insurance to pay for the lapband procedure. I had to do 3 month supervised diet with a doctor and a nutritionist. I have learned a lot from the nutritionist and plan to use her as a resource the rest of my life. I've done all my labs and testing. Somehow I was so scared that I would not get approved. Now that I am, it's exciting but scary at the same time. I am going to change everything about my lifestyle. I have to. It's the only way to be successful. Failure is not an option for me...and that is what I am most scared of. I am not going this far to fail. I have to many hopes and dreams. All of them which require the body and health to do it. This is the first day of the rest of my life. :frown:

THREE DAYS AGO I STARTED THE DAY WITH A SINUS INFECTION. I GOT A ZPAC AND STARTED FEELING BETTER. FRIDAY I WENT IN FOR MY FIRST FILL AND WAS SUPRISED THAT SHE SAID THAT SHE WOULDN'T DO MORE THAN ONE CC DUE TO THE DRAINAGE. IT CAN CAUSE A PLUG. AT LEAST I GOT ALL OF MY RECENT QUESTIONS ANSWERED. YES- THE BRUISE ON MY LOWER BELLY WAS FROM A LOVANOX SHOT.(GIGGLE HERE...I THOUGHT FOR A DAY OR SO AFTER BANDING THAT THEY HAD DROPPED ME OFF THE OPERATION TABLE):smile::glare: YES - I HAD TWO CC INSIDE BAND AT THIS TIME. SO NOW I HAVE 3 CC IN MY BAND AND HAVE LOST 17 POUNDS SINCE THE SURGERY. SO ITS BACK TO THE PROTEIN SHAKES FOR TWO DAYS THEN SOFTIES FOR TWO DAYS. I FELT LIKE I WAS BETWEEN THE GREEN AND YELLOW ON THE ARE YOU READY FOR A FILL POSTER. ALSO, WE ALL ASK DOES THE FILL HURT...NOT WHEN YOUR PORT SITE IS STILL SORE BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT YOU FEEL. THE MANULIPATION OF FINDING THE PORT IN SO MUCH BLUBBLER. LOL. THE COOLEST THING LATELY HAS BEEN WHEN I GOT DRESSED FOR THE FILL APPT, I WORE THE SAME CLOTHES THAT I WORE ON MY FIRST APPT FOR THE DR. I NOTICED THAT THEY WERE LOOSE. WOW, THAT MADE MY DAY. I GO FOR ANOTHER FILL ON 6/8.

I’m so scared... my hair had been really growing nicely, and now all of a sudden every time I run my fingers through my hair I have several strands between my fingers, and my brush is full of hair every time I brush my hair. [emoji20]. My hair was looking so pretty and long, and I just don’t want it falling out. I have been using Nioxin shampoo since before surgery (gastric sleeve and hiatal hernia repair), which was on 9/11/17, and I’ve also been taking biotin, zinc, B12, and also I take my multi vitamin twice daily and calcium, as well as my iron, omprazole, and also started taking a collagen to help with hair, skin, joints, etc. The collagen is supposed to help hair, but it’s been since I started taking it that I’ve noticed my hair coming loose. Also, I’ve been at a standstill for about two weeks with no weight loss. Please help!

Yes, there is a scientific reason almost everyone experiences a stall about three weeks post-op. Remember that pre-op diet to shrink your liver? About three weeks post-op is when your body decides to replenish the glucose in your liver. Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

Krystal, I am glad you have another shot! And sleep apnea isn't so bad : ) I was diagnosed in January and got my cpap machine after my surgery in February. Seems the sleep apnea goes away for many people with weight loss. That is definitely what I am hoping for. I have adjusted to the machine fairly well, and I think I might be feeling a little better. If you do get one, see if they will let you have two masks. I started with the nostril pillows and about 2 weeks later also got a small mask. I rotate back and forth between the two; just depends on how I feel. good luck! I am hoping you will need the cpap just enough to qualify for surgery - then you can ditch it later! : )

That's fantastic for 5 months!!!!! For me Hw 264 sw cw 205. 7 1/2 months post op. I get through the stalls one day at a time. I've learned my body and how I feel when I'm in a stall. I just stay away from the scale in days I feel I haven't lost. My body feels different when I start losing again. I have found I will lose really big one week and really slow a few weeks then stall. My longest stall so far was almost a month.

I just can't quench my thirst for the life of me!
ccausley replied to boosh10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had trouble with water it seemed like it didn't want to go down the right tube...Than I found anything I drank was better with crushed Ice. Than I moved to Grape Propel it went down easier than water. Than I know this sounds weird but grape juice over ice, It was like I had no trouble drinking that at all. ...And for the last week orange gatoraide over Ice or Cold gatoraide or poweraide. in a small bottle! But one month out and thats what I fight with is the thirst, and I try to wake up and drink at night also...Good Luck! -
How long after surgery before you feel "yourself "
daniotra replied to NikkiRT's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Depends what you are planning on doing. A relaxing getaway with some walking, sure. My doc recommended waiting two weeks for sex. I waited 12 days as my husband was going out of town for a week. It wasn't comfortable, but not painful. Make sure you bring along stuff you can eat. That's difficult. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I couldn't stomach the Isopure either. I'm 3 days out and I have to stay I haven't found one decent flavor. They are beyond gross. They're going back to GNC -
