    Nsv

I am in the process of moving and today I decided to get rid of all my sizse 24s. I think I even had a 26 in there and a lot of 3x. I am now down to 1x (I even slipped into a Large the other day) and a tight 20 on the bottom. I do feel more comfortable in a 22 but boy do those tight 20s look good! Anyway, I have a 10 lb goal right now and that would bring me right over the 40+ mark and 1/2 way to my goal of 82 lbs. I lost 30 lbs preop so once I hit my goal I would have lost 120 lbs down to 200 lbs. I'm at 247 right now. Thanks for reading.

    January Bandsters???

TxPeaches, glad to hear you are back and were able to type a message to us (that in itself is very encouraging!) I just spent the last 30 minutes catching up - I'm at work again, the only time I seem to get to check in on LBT - Audree, your day is almost here - are you ready? I know it will be fine, I've had a couple of friends go through the procedure and that has been really a great comfort to me. I'm doing okay on my Pre-Op, NYE was a challenge, we went to San Antonio and had Christmas with my two best girl friends and their families - all 3 of us are overweight and vow to get it off every year. We stayed at the Hyatt on a family package deal that included a Buffet dinner - I managed to just eat salad and a few pieces of steak - so I count that as an NSV (non-scale victory) in the journey. My protein drinks taste good enough that I ordered the canisters of the chocolate and vanilla. I also saw a cousin of mine over the week-end that had gastric by-pass last April and has lost 115 pounds and she was very encouraging about WLS. I'm an open book kind of person so everyone in my life knows I'm having surgery next week - not one single person has said anything negative - and for that I am very grateful! Amy

Sounds like an excellent NSV to me, Angel Bear. I love the idea of your bathing suit being in free fall.:omg: Teehee. Here is my latest NSV: I went to the dentist today and got loads of compliments on my skinnier self. And my jeans which used to be too tight really are very baggy.
  7. Welcome to January, April Bandits! It's a New Year, can you believe it? Let's think back to April and compare it to how we feel now. WOW, dieting and exercise really pays off. Then just think about how we'll all feel in April 2007. Woohoo! This is OUR YEAR to make goal! We've made it through the holidays and it's time to bust a move. We can do it! We're upping our challenge for the month in duration. I think we've decided to hold steady on the number of sessions. Our ultimate goal is 20 sessions a month for 45 minutes each session, and we'll get there by April. For now, here's January's challenge: (1) Complete 17 or more exercise sessions (counting only one session per day, if you're the type to do more!); (2) To count, each session must be at least 40 minutes in duration (two 20 min sessions in one day still counts); and (3) Set a goal (whether in lbs/kilos or NSV) for your upcoming bandiversary and share with the group, if you wish. We can do it! Speaking of, I'm off to the gym....
  8. BJean: Green is still looking forward to the day when her knickers continue to sit when she stands up. That will be one helluva NSV! Happy New Year to everyone!

How Are People Treating You After Surgery?

Since I haven't been back to work yet since my surgery, I'll throw this out there just for fun. I just got a rejection letter on Saturday from a job interview I went on about a month ago (I know, Happy New Year to me). It was a state job with excellent benefits and would have meant a substantial promotion (more money, more responsibility). I was qualified for the position, and the interviewers seemed happy with my responses to their questions during the interview. I couldn't help but wonder if my weight played a role in not getting the job. There! I said it! I think that people in a professional setting do not take me seriously because of my weight. By the way, one NSV for me was that I DID NOT stick my head into a vat of ice cream because I was rejected. I was certainly devastated because a job at this level doesn't open up very often. I boo-hooed a bit and decided that there must be something better out there waiting for me and that's why I didn't get the job.

Beth, Hello again. I, too, am staying in tonight. Just can't motivate myself to get out, I guess I'm a stick in the mud too! We've had a busy week. Went to see "Menapause" the play on Wednesday. Went skiing all day Thursday. And bowling and dancing last night. I'm mourning the end of Winter break. One nice thing, only a week and a half til another long weekend, MLK b-day! I had a great NSV today. I've been swimming every morning for the past few months, and my swimming suit is getting too big. When I flip over to do the backstroke, my suit tends to slip. I have to tie it so tight is hurts! Anyway, today we were at Costco and I noticed they had swimming suits, so I bought a new one (dangerous since you can't try anything on) size 12. I brought it home and tried it on and it FIT! I'm very excited. My pants are a size 12 but I was worried that my whole body might not be a size 12. so out with the old, in with the new! I am really looking forward to a whole new me this year! Not only losing weight, but being more active, having more energy, and trying new things. My New Year's Resolutions 1. Lose at least 30 more pounds 2. Be active for at least 30 minutes 3 times a week 3. Try a new active sport (rock climbing maybe?) WHAT are your resolutions?

    December Bandsters

Hey everybody, Just wanted to log on and say Happy New Year (& new you) to everyone. Having a few closest friends over this evening and I told them to bring whatever they wanted to eat and drink that they wouldn't like my pureed peaches, apricots and plums...lol. Wish you ALL the very best for 2007! Wanted to pass along a little nsv that happened today at church. Three different folks stopped me to say how "well" I looked...lol...Even our Interpreter for the hearing impaired stopped me...she started telling me how she had always been heavy and that she wanted to talk to me more about the lap band...I told her about this site and y'all...

hi all! Hugs ruthie! congrats on the nsv's! i have finally gotten to 50 lbs. my goal was 60 by christmas but 50 is good! i think i put some on over the last week. not too much but we'll see when i go back to school on the 2nd. i weigh myself on the nurse's scale. my mom's 75th birthday is in feb and i am flying to see her. i will try to jump start my weight loss by going back to liquids or oatmeal for breakfast. my doc reminded me at my last appt that oatmeal or 1 egg will stick with me longer than liquids for breakfast so i will try it. i am also going to stick to mushy meat for lunch. then reg for dinner with less carbs which seems to help. maybe i can lose 20 by mid feb???? it;s a little high but shoot for the stars and reach the moon! Happy new year all!

HI ALL!!! First, longggggggggggg time no check in. December has been mad crazy. Stephanie...you know your reply to me really helped so much. I started following along with your way of eating and yep...it worked. I am a slowwwwww loser but the key word is loser! I am down a little bit more. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. You are such an inspiration with your incredible weight loss. I guess you and Beth are our Julyster's angels because you are so constant with your posts and advice and support. ;) :bananajump: :bananajump: :Banane10: :Banane34: My DH and I traveled to my family in Georgia and I really did well with the eating. Cute story: my Mom is almost blind and when I tucked her in bed the first night she said you know when I hugged you today you feel smaller. I told her I had lost weight and she was so happy for me. I had not told her about my surgery because she unfortunately has stroke induced dementia/sundowners so she would worry obsessively about me. Anyway....that touched my heart that she could feel the dif!! Oh and one more NSV- I haven't bought clothes since surgery because I wanted to wait for smaller sizes. I saw a precious Christmas sweater and could not resist. BUTTTTTTTTT...the 5x was too large. Wow. I was so happy to "re-visit" a 4x!! Happy New Years dear fellow bandsters and God Bless!!! May our year be filled with great days and smaller bodies!!!!! Ruthie (and please say hi someone!!!! I know I have been away but would love a hug!)

    A *HUGE* NSV for me!

What is a NSV?? I always see it but don't know what it is.:help: Thanks,Audree
  18. OK... I have to tell you it's been a great day. Today was my first day back at the gym since my surgery. I've been walking but I haven't worked out like I should have been when I was cleared nearly 4 weeks ago. Anyway, I got there today... So, I did 35 minutes on the elliptical not wanting to push it since it's my first time at the gym in 4 months. I felt great! I couldn't believe my heart rate wasn't skyrocketing like it used to. And during my cool down, my heart rate came down so much quicker than it used to. I also didn't look like a beet about to give birth  After my workout I went to the stretch station and went to grab my heel behind me so I could stretch my quad. WELL, I was able to grab my toe and didn't have to deal with all the silly maneuvering of grabbing my heel or ankle for the quad stretch like I used to do when my legs were bigger. I was so happy I wanted to cry but instead I just gave a huge smile to myself. I love my band and I love ME!

Hi Ladies, I went shopping for me today. I was nervous and excited at the same time. I think my NSV is that I'm comfortable in fitted tops now and I went to regular stores - not Penningtons or the Plus size department. I gained 3 lbs over Christmas but if I watch myself I know that I will lose that again. food is not my comfort - I still crave sweets but I'm satisfied with a "taste". This thread is awesome. Thanks for reviving it - inspirational! You guys are the best. Best wishes for continued success, better health and more wealth in 2007!

    My first NSV :)

You go girl!!!!! I can't wait to shop in the 'normal' size stores again. You should be incredibly proud of yourself! What a way to start the new year! Suzy (By the way what does nsv stand for?):paranoid
  24. She Smiles

    My first NSV :)

Today I thought I would hit the shops and see if I could get anything in the after Christmas sales. I don't really want to spend too much money on new clothes, because I am hoping that they won't fit me for long, and that it will end up being a waste if I buy a whole new wardrobe at each new size I fit into. Anyway I went to David Jones (Australians will know the store) to the bigger girls section, where I have bought most of my casual clothes over the years, they make funkier type t-shirts and tops and pants for us younger crowd. So I was rummaging through a table of tshirts that were on sale. I used to fit into a XL from there so I thought I would try a Large, why not, I thought I've lost a big of weight?!?! It was WAY too big! So then I tried a Medium! Still a little too big, given a couple of weeks, it would no doubt be swimming on me. So I bought a SMALL!!! Its a tighter fit than I would have worn at my biggest, but heck, I have a waist and hips again (As opposed to being a big beachball shape!) So I am going to show off my curves. I guess the next step from here is to start shopping in the "normal" sized section, size 16, here I come!! :clap2:

    A Canadian "NSV" Thread

Hmmmm... NSV's for me: - all the 'you look great's this week have been awesome - I'm wearing a green, zip-up hoody that I bought when I was 15 (didn't wear for long, but I kept because I liked it and always wanted to fit it again) - no longer in the 2_ sizes! - I've grabbed a little wall mirror in our bathroom to check out my ass, more than a couple times! - that 'fat hunch' on the back of my neck that I was happy to see disappearing last time I posted here is gone! - I hear 'you're to bone-y" from Dan alot... and I feel them alot. - sit-ups on the floor are very painful, so I have to fold the mat into so my tail bone doesn't dig into the floor. (ie: less butt, closer to floor!) - for the first time since we've been together (almost 4 years), I let him pick me up, and now he does it all the time. And I'm not worried about hurting him. When he used to do it before, I'd do what 5 yr olds do, go all limp, so he couldn't grab me! - I had a picture taken of myself, and actually gave it to other people... almost like I was ok with how I looked!! - I caught myself RUNNING down the hallway of my apartment when I realized I forgot my laundry in the dryer for longer than its supposed to be :omg: - I've been tempted to run on the treadmill at the gym. I turned the speed up a few times, did a little trot. (decided I look too dumb running, and stopped pretty quick) I'm sure I've got more. Will add later !
