Wow! This is a long thread with a lot of information on it! First, Tami, I didn't get the picture of the horefrost before it went a way. I thought about sending a picture of my ex-daughter-in-law, since she fits the 2nd definition, but thought better of it. It is suppose to snow on Friday, maybe I can get out the camera then. I really want all you Southern gals to see how beautiful winter can be. Also, I can't believe how fast you can lose weight. Way to go! MimIn: Thanks for doing the challenge. Congratulatons on your NSV. I lost 4 pounds this week! Hallelaluja, the platueau has ended! I also exercised 4 times this week. Getting in snowshoeing, weight lifting, treadmill and exercise videos. Happy Birthday, BJean! As far as plastic surgery goes. I really want to get a tummy tuck and breast lift when I have reached goal weight and maintained for a while. I know I am old, but what the hell... I gave birth to 5 children and I'm tired of looking like it! I don't know if breast implants are affected by weight loss. I guess I would have to know more, becuase if you're still losing weight, you don't want your nice new boob job to sag. That would be very sad. I guess try and get as much info as you can and maybe another source besides the surgeon who will be doing the surgery. He may be good, but he sounds motivated by the almighty dollar! Someone asked about software for recording diet. I like dietpower.com. Everyone is doing so well. CONGRATULATIONS!

    Could you have...

Yep. I count that moment of Horror as an NSV (Non-Scale-Victory for you Newbies). Who would have thought a moment of horror could be a good thing?!?

I'm down 5 lbs this week !! I just finished my TOM, so I'm sure that helped. I only exercised two days, though, so I'll have to get in an extra one this week! Love those NSVs! I had one last night. I have a very cushy, pillow-top mattress. I realized last night that I can roll over without sort of lifting myself up out of the dip! That's kinda hard to explain, but it meant a lot to me. gonnabethin, Happy Birthday! Hope your best gift is a nice drop next week! (edit) I just cancelled my fill appointment for tomorrow. I'm very happy with where I am right now, and as long as I continue to lose, I'm gonna stay here. I even tested 'er out with steak yesterday, with no problem. Tami 1/6 No exercise B: 1 c. I had a NSV this weekend that made me pretty happy. I went to a consignment store to check on some stuff we had for sale and decided to look at the clothes. I found a pair of size 14 levis that I liked but knew they wouldn't fit......yet. But I bought them anyway since the price was right. Then I looked at the 16's and found a pair of tan jeans that I liked and they were only 4 bucks, so I thought, what the heck......if they don't fit, they will in a while. So I took them home and put them on. I didn't have to lay down to zip them, I could breath, move, talk.......everything you should be able to do in jeans!!!!! They are a bit tighter than the jeans I've been wearing lately, but they fit! Yeah me! Size 10, here I come!
  5. Thanks for all the positive comments guys. It has been quite a journey and I am enjoying so many NSV's these days... airplane washroom no problem, seat belts just fine thank you and my latest... size 8 medium running shoes - no more need for wide widths!! For me, I think I have had a combination of luck and hard work. The weight loss has been steady and although it is slowing down it is still around 1.5 to 2 lbs a week. I know I will most likely hit a wall soon, so I am trying to mentally prepare for it. I have never had liquids with meals and I haven't really cheated ... an extra bite hear or there but never really more than that. Although Christmas was hard. Julie NYC turned me onto running and now I run 4 to 5 times a week. I am doing intervals to build my endurance and now run for 2 minutes and walk for 1.5 minutes. I do this for 30 minutes and then walk out the last 10 minutes. I also do strength training 3 x a week. I am loving how I feel about me and for the first time in my life my new years resolution is not about losing weight... it is about getting fitter and feeling good. Good luck to you all. BTW Ibrahem... you were banded on my birthday... must be a good luck charm! Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal

No change for me this week - althou - a NSV - the size 14 pants I bought three weeks ago are getting loose in the hips/butt! Holy cow!!

No change for me either. I had a good NSV last Thursday though. The exercise physiologist measured me for the first time since before the band and she told me that I had lost 35 inches and with the weight I've lost, it is like I lost a toddler. I got to thinking about the darling 4 yr. old in my life and she weighs 33 lbs. and is about 36 inches tall. My gosh... I was carrying around a small child all the time. No wonder my knees are shot!

I didn't think i'd lose a single pound this week but my trusty scale came through, down 2lbs as of this morning. I had a NSV today that really made me take notice. I went to use the tricep press at the gym, sat down and started pushing down and realized the handles were turned in and I was clearing my hips with inches to spare. For as long as I can remember I have always had to turn the handles out or I'd never be able to push past my huge hips!

Wow Julie what a fantastic NSV!!! I am so happy for you. BTW, that is a very nice picture of you, thanks for sharing. I'm having trouble figuring out what size I am now. Some clothes I have from Talbot's size 18 are too big, and the 16's just about fit. In a womens size I need a 14 or 12. My Alfani suit I bought in September, size 16, is way too big now. I can't figure out why your coat would fit you at your present weight when it didn't when you weighed 190. Are you sure your scale is accurate? Sorry I'm no help. Julie are you signed up for the 4 mile Snowflake race out of Long Beach? Went to Curves this morning 45 mins. and did 2 miles with DH this afternoon on the boardwalk. It was such a beautiful day.

    Whats "in style"?

Sizes has always been the top of my bitch list. I hate trying on clothes in stores- part of the problem was some of the dressing rooms were so small that I could hardly turn around. I am finally accepting that as long as it fits I will wear it no matter the size but that was hard. I like the clothes and prices at kohls but they run small.I bought 2 prs of pants at walmart today- stretch black boot cut jeans in a 24 and cords in a 22 from different makers and they fit almost the same. ( that i could even get the 22's on was a big NSV!) I really hate buying bigger size clothes- it feels like a failure but I really hate running around with out any clothes so I buy what fits and swear that someday I won't have problems buying what I like. Just problems affording it!
  17. Today is my 3 month anniversary of my band. I think I've just had my most profound NSV to date. I was just spooning some cole slaw into a tiny 1/2 cup tupperware and had the thought.... "Wow that's ALOT of cole slaw!" Are you kidding me? I never would have believed it until it happened. Sure during my first week of recovery it took me 3 hours to eat 1/2 cup of Jello. But not now! Seriously I'm floored. Talk about a change in self-talk. I may be just slowly ticking away at the weight, but this moment shows me that alot more is changing than just my size. Woo hoo!!!!

    July 2006 Band Crew

Hey everyone!! I've been reading and catching up on what everyone's been doing. Kari, I can so relate to the "sweet addiction". We just got back from Michigan and it seems that I had to eat everything chocolate in sight. Glad you have lost the small amount that you had gained over the holidays. I am going to accept the Valentine's Day challenge and try and lose 10 more lbs. by Feb. 14. This will be a real challenge for me but maybe if I can get in for my second fill that will help. I did okay today, but will be more focused on things tomorrow. Missed all of you while I was up in Michigan (with no snow) and leaving a day late due to bad weather here in TX last Friday (tornado at airport...yes...our flight was cancelled along with around 200 others). Then, my luggage didn't arrive until Monday late afternoon. Learned I can survive with one pair of jeans, a couple tops and clean panties...(oh yeah...I did buy new ones to fit my shrinking fanny...lol). Almost forgot the NSV for the trip: I had EXTRA belt after fastening my seatbelt on the plane and I wasn't pouring into the seat next to me!!! YIPPEE!!!

Oh Ruthie! What nice things you said about me I appreciate everyone's support here as well. I regret I haven't been here much lately and have made a promise to myself to keep coming here regularly so as not to loose sight of the fact that there are other great people going through what I am and facing the same struggles. Congrats on the NSV's!! How exciting! I work in a middle school and said this year that next year for Christmas I am going to get me a "teacher sweater" with Christmas stuff all over it to fit in with the teachers the week before Christmas! How fun! Keep up the great work!

Yeah the kids are in bed!!!! NSV.....I put on a pair of pajamas that I have not been able to wear in about 2 years!!!! That made me feel really good!! Nathalie....potty training is quite the process....but basically the past two days we have been camping out in the play room, (mostly because I have wood floors in there!), and I strip her down from the waist. Her "special" potty is there...and her "special" treats in a bowl. I explained what we were going to do, that the daipers have gone bye bye, and we were not going to use them anymore. If she messed on the floor she cleaned it up, with a little help, and then I told her if you need to go pee or poo you must use your potty. It really only took a couple of accidents, and then she pretty much was using the potty! When they do go on the potty you praise like crazy! We do a potty dance then ceremoniously take the stuff in the bathroom, and she emptys it into the toilet and she flushes, and then we high five and she gets her treat! Tomorrow we go to get pretty princess panties, because she went poo today in her potty! It takes about six weeks for them not to have accidents....so you get those thick underwear that absorbs really well. The most crucial thing is to not go back to daipers because then they know if they keep messing in their pants that they will get their daipers back. My Belle cried twice that she wanted her daipers, and that she could not do the potty, it wasn't fun! I just told her I knew that she could do it, and I was there to help her...rah rah rah....and it is hard for them but they can do it....that is the most important thing to remember.....anyway.....I didn't think this would be so long....I would have emailed you privately....but I don't think I am going to rewrite this!!! I wonder how many calories you burn by typing really fast!!!!! lol

Okay.. dug out my initial measurements from my first meeting with Dr. Rose and my 6 month exam measurements... I think I've lost around 36 inches! WOW! Arm 18 3/4 Bust: 53 1/2 Waist: 52 Hips: 58 12/11/06 (almost 6 months out) Neck: 14 R. Arm: 14 1/2 L. Arm 14 Bust: 47 1/4 Waist: 39 Hips: 47 1/2 Thanks for bringing this up Alicia! I love any NSV! Nsv

Love the NSV's... I just did something a little different... I just dragged out the 2 boxes of clothes in sizes below what I have been wearing and started putting things INTO my closet that fit me, now/again. My Mom and Sister are both heavy - and we have swapped clothes back and forth for years as we each moved up and down in DietLand. Since I was left behind the last time they lost weight, I ended up with most of the clothes... It's like Christmas everytime I wear something "new". :]
