My menu is pretty boring, so I'm really not going to post it. Its basically a "Master Cleanse/Lemonaide Diet". My DH is doing it to clean out his arteries, etc, so I'm supporting him and doing it with him. Your supposed to do the cleanse for 10 days, or up to 40 and beyond. There is NO WAY that I can do it beyond 10 days, and not sure if I can hang for 10 days, but giving it a try. The cleanse consist of: 10 oz of water - purrified only or spring 1/2 fresh organic lemon (or regular lemon - which is what I'm using) 2 TBSP of Maple syrup - GRADE B only. You have to get this at health store and 1/10 of tsp of ceyenne pepper - or to taste You drink this 6 or more times a day, and in between you have fresh spring/purified water. You eat NOTHING, and if the cleanse is not "moving", you can have this concoction with some organic laxative tea - twice a day. AFter 10 days of this, you begin with a little orange juice - this prepares the body for digestive with food. Then on day 12, you begin adding some fresh fruit/veggies - and day 13, gradually add your lean meats and grilled veggies or fresh. I'm on day 3 of my cleanse. I had my fill yesterday and required to be on liquids anyhow, so I'm doing the cleanse. Exercise was NOTTA Monday & Tuesday, but I will exercise everyday the rest of the week! Exercise today - 20 min treadmill, 3.2 mph, 1.05 miles, 160 calories -

    Dizziness or Blurred Vision

My surgery was at 7:00 am at Town N Country Hospital. My surgeon was Dr Dietrick and I went through The Wish Center. I was the first person to have the Lap Band surgery through that location so that's why I was told Dr Grossman would be there to oversee the procedure since he has done so many.. I am also on a liquid diet for two weeks. I can only have milk, protein shake or broth in 1 oz cups, and each cup has to last 10 min. I drink every hour on the hour from 8 am to 10 p.m.. Some hours I can have up to 3 oz of fluid but most hours it is only 2 oz. When I get done with the required fluid I can have water, crystal light, decaf tea and fruit 20. Yeah my pain seems to be going away slowly. Everyday I can do something a little bit easier than the day before. I think right now it's just muscle soreness on my left side from when they stitched the port to the muscle. Other than that I am itchy and I know that is a sign of healing. I took my bandages off today and the staples look good, but it still grosses me out. I weighed myself at home and if my beginning weight was correct I have lost 17 pounds since last Monday. I will know the real amount at my second appointment on 9/7 and they will also take the staples out. Then I will also be on puree diet. I am starving too on the liquid diet. It wasn't so bad in the beginning, but as my body begins to heal and gets out of shock it is hungry! I would love to keep in contact with you to compare how were doing since we had it done on the same day and you are in Florida. Keep up the good work and we will both be happier and healthy soon enough!

    Keto Diet

Not imo. It works for some people but I think you need a certain psychology around food I just don't have...not to mention guts of steel haha I did keto like 2 years ago in one of my many pursuits to lose weight. I had diarrhea every single day all the time. I did lose 10 lbs in 3 weeks but when I stopped, I gained it all back plus more! Not my proudest moment. Scheduled for January 28th!

I had my surgery on Tuesday January 28th. When I woke up after it was the worst pain ever and I hated doing this! But now, 5 days later and 10 lbs lighter (when I weighed myself yesterday!) I'm feeling a lot better! The gas pain hurts more than the incisions now but I use my heating pad and that helps a lot! I haven't had any nausea thank god! It is a lot of hard work, but it's worth it!

    Confessions

Confessions: 1) I still crave fried foods from time to time, I eat it alittle without guilt (if I eat too much it makes me ill, which I love) 2) In the days I workout I eat more times a day without guilt (I'm working to stop doing that) 3) I still enjoy starbucks coffee when I want, I just plan to drink it on days I workout 4) I still enjoy wine and other spirits without guilt, I just plain to drink it on days I workout 5) I love the fact that I can pass on sweets now, doesnt phase me anymore, esspecially when I've ran out of room in charlie (my sleeve) 6) My support group is my anchor, those ladies and gents I meet with every month have no idea how important they are in keeping me positive and focused on my journey 7) I still love potatoes 8) I still see my pre-sleeve face in the mirror 9) I sometimes forget that I am 5 sizes smaller and pick up some of the old clothes I have to wear 10) When I wash my new clothes I get scared that they've shrunk and I cant wear them anymore....then I put them on and they still fit 11) I rather goto the gym than happy hour with my co-workers
  6. I had my rny surgery just over 2 months ago. Though there have been a few bumps in the road, I am pleased with the results thus far. I've lost 50 pounds. I can cross my legs! I've gone down 4 dress sizes. I tried on a pair of riding boots and they zipped all the way up without a struggle. No grunting and sweating. You ladies out there with large legs understand what a huge accomplishment that is. I can fit in a movie theater seat with room to spare. Table or booth? I want the booth honey! I recently returned to the gym after about a 2 week break and surprisingly did quite well. I thought for sure that I wouldn't last more than 10 minutes. I worked out for an hour. Whew! I'm trying to work back up to my pre op work out routine of going to the gym 4-5 times a week and sometimes twice a day. My work outs generally lasted one and a half to two hours. Now I'm very tired all of the time which I hear is normal in the early months following surgery. Just making it to the gym is half of the battle but I have to do it. I aspire healthy and more comfortable in my own skin. This is not about vanity. Well maybe a little. I want to tell plus size clothing goodbye forever. I want to be able to fit comfortably in an airplane seat without a seatbelt extender. I want to ride rides at amusement parks again. That's only the beginning. I'm so excited to see what my future holds. Tell me about your milestones. What things are you able to do now that you never have or just things that you haven't been able to do in a long time? Also, please share your goals. We can encourage one another as we work toward them.

    Emotions setting in :-(

i know EXACTLY how you feel. my surgery is 10-25-2013 so im right behnd you. it took a few weeks after setting my surgery date to open up about it family and friends. when i finally did it was over dinner (big mistake) my grandma, who is a very important person in my life and i use to talk to daily, was telling me how she thinks im going to fail at it and stadrted pointing out my plate i was eating at the moment.... it broke my heart but made me more motivated to do this right and be healthy. if i were you i would seriously consider finding someone else to be there for you after surgery.... you do not need to deal with that kind of negativity when you are trying to heal.
  8. I get banded 10-22-13 i couldn't be more happy about my decision. It took me a year to get approved with many disappointing road block but I fought back and I've won my trophy!!! Now, I didn't want to tell a soul about my band because my gamy are very competitive and critical. I posted a lapband hashtags well, I'm caught red handed. So people know. Some are supportive and have thousands of questions and some are critical with millions of insults. One being my big sister. :-(( u Sadden because she is suppose to be the one with me the day of surgery. My mom had to work and I refuse to change the date. She has become very hateful she won't look me in the face and she even gives me bad looks. What's going to happen after the surgery I fear? I need a buddy. I will be there for anyone the same. I don't care where ya stay. I'm in need of a friend.
  9. I am an A type personality. A former athlete and self proclaimed workaholic (okay maybe more than self proclaimed...as I am told regularly that I work too much). I spent a lifetime playing baseball, softball, rugby, indoor soccer and pretty much anything I could sacrifice my body to in the name of winning competitions. My knees started to go as a teenager (first surgery at 14). Now at 43 I have osteoarthritis and I am nearly bone on bone in my right knee. The pain in my knees have progressively started getting worse as one, I quit playing sports about 5 years ago and two...and extra 110+ lbs will do you in too! Its an awful pain. I have paid the trainer and worked out diligently for 2 years with a 258 going down to 213 lbs. During this time I dislocated my right knee a few times (once while walking in the pool!!) and this of course makes for a great setback. Oh...I worked out with a leg brace on but not getting a 1000 calorie per hour burn does not help my A type personality when I only burn 400 in an hour. And lord forbid I only get to burn 250 because my knee has gone out again. *sigh* How did I get overweight? I weighed 160 lbs in 1995 and gave birth in 1996 at 290 lbs! I weighed 330 lbs when I gave birth to my second child in 1998. Gestational Diabetes. I did not have diabetes nor did I carry over diabetes into my life after pregnancy. But I did get down to about 208 and hovered there. As I played more sports (now with another 50 lbs in tow) my arthritis got worse and the weight began to rise. Second, I developed a sugar addiction. I work and dont eat...I come home and I crash/binge eat. This is the mental game I have to change going forward. Eventually I quit playing sports (2008) and easily added 20 more pounds. Here I have remained. Not one person, no matter what your backstory, goes into WLS flippantly. If I could control the sugar and workout without ending up in a knee brace every few months I would have done it! There is a mindset that needs to be achieved and I know I have a joint replacement surgery coming 10 years down the road. So while I have a plan that is 10 years long, I have short term miles stones to achieve right now. I read about people's outcomes and successes after WLS. I realistically understand that my arthritis will still be here and still be painful even after the weight is off. I hope the weight loss eases my knee pain. I know I will be able to relearn the food because I am/will take the time I need (something I never do) and I am committed to each step of this life long change. I am a very assertive person and will take each step as it comes and not worry about all the steps that will come in the future. I just want to focus on what I need to do today and change that. Tomorrow I will focus on the next step and so forth. Oh--I have a killer support group. My family and friends are going to be very helpful and my employees and my bosses are supportive. I am blessed to have these people in my life. For the first time, maybe ever, I am asking for help and I am going to openly receive it. That has been a huge step for me in the past few months. I tend to do everything for myself an not ask for help. Things are changing

    Easy Way OUT??

I am also wondering- maybe the mother just instinctively was afraid about her daughter having surgery, and so said the first thing that came to mind to push her not to get the surgery? Mothers do get a little weird sometimes when they are concerned for their kids. As to the notion in general, I tend to pull out the numbers. I say, look- people can lose about 10% of their bodyweight on a diet, and maybe what? less than 1/4 will still have that weight off in a year. Now let's say you are talking about having to lose maybe 1/2 your body weight- the rates for success at doing that are pretty close to 0%. So why would anyone try something known to have a 0% chance of success, as opposed to something like the band with at least an 80% success rate- where success is losing at least 50% excess weight and keeping it off at least 5 years later?
  11. I went in today for a possible unfill. I am sliming after meals and wanted to make sure I wasn't doing damage. I was there about 9 days ago and have lost 10 pounds in the 9 day. The tech said that was far too much weight to have lost and seemed concerned. Total since my surgery I have lost about 42 pounds. He did not unfill me surprisingly enough. He said if I were sliming in between meals he would have but felt that my band was the best he had ever seen it. Anyone else been told that they are losing too much too fast?
  12. First fill was today, six weeks after surgery. On Clear liquids for 24 hours. Just having Water and broth. Not hungry at all, right now Not sure what size band I have. Dr. said he put in 4cc. Next fill 10/14.

    Plastic Surgery for Skin Donation

oh im sorry if i made it sound like it is a way to lose more weight thats not how i meant it i was just stating it would be closer to my goal... and he cant tell how much weight its gonna be until it comes off... so i do understand that... he did also say within 10 lbs of my goal im just wondering if im setting my goal to high? its seems that i keep being told not to be disappointed if i dont reach my goal so i feel as if im aiming to high! i guess im just wondering if i should lower my goal and deal with being considered as overweight? and just get the skin removed now?
  14. I first of all want to lose the 10 Lbs I gained between Halloween and New Years day. That will put me back to the after picture below. When I achieve this first goal I then WILL get to my final goal before my Surgiversary date June 21st.
  15. Hi, I was banded on 10/20/2010. Have had 3 fills in a 10cc band (3 c, 3cc and 2cc's) not much got stuck after the first two, but after the third, I am noticing more food it giving me a hard time. I am still hungry. Although I eat less than before, I want to hit the "sweet spot" that everybody talks about. I am really getting anxious about not being hungry. When does that kick in?
  16. Oh I'm so happy I was on the road had to pull over & that's when I got the great news. My Doc just submitted last week I had no time to even wonder about approval it all happened so fast so my Pre-op appt is 2/19 and that night I start my 2 week diet then Surgery is scheduled for March 3rd. Feeling so blessed ❤️

    help! so nervous! advice?

It's perfectly normal to be a little nervous. However if you really know in your heart of hearts this is the only way then take the plunge. The post-op dieting, especially in those early days is not fun, but is completely doable. Pain is not a guarantee. I had NONE. You will be able to eat your favorite foods again, you'll just eat them in smaller portions. Best of all you'll get the chance to live a healthier life. I honestly wish I had done this 10 years ago.

    New and Struggling

I had my sleeve Nov. 10. The first two weeks I had water nausea. I drank G2 & lite cranberry as my fluids. Water was too dense. I also can really only tolerate Unjury protein shakes. As a teacher, it is hard to get fluids in but being on your feet all day your body needs it. Now, I drink propel & water all day. I try to drink 10oz before school (as soon as I wake up) then another 20 to 30 at school. At home, I try to drink 30 more ounces. I am constantly pushing/sipping fluids all day. It definitely is another job rt now getting the fluids in...push through & persevere. Some days I am on target & some not so much. It's a daily process that I know will get better!

    So far so good

Ya I’m down to 265 right now and according to surgeon am prob carrying 10 to 15 pounds of skin so in reality I’m about 250 ish so I’m thinking 15 more pounds of loss and I’ll be good. Best thing is I feel great now and should only get better so I really could live with where I’m at now and be fine.
  20. I'm one week out from surgery (4/6/10) and have lost 16 lbs on a liquid diet. 60 grams of protein meal replacement mixed with water, 1 can of soup (split pea or tomato as I couldn't handle all the salt in the broths), 64 oz. water, and ocassionally sugar free jello, or sugar free popsicles. I did have a hernia repair and seem to feel somewhat restricted and have not been able to get all my required water down as I feel stuffed most of the day. I have to stay on this for 4 weeks.
  21. I feel the same way as most of you ladies. I had a friend who got the by-pass surgery and when she lost all the weight she went WILD!!! She had been married over 10 yrs and she started going out more w the girls and ended up cheating on her husband, doing drugs and drinking more. She had always been heavy and now she was making up for lost times. I'm in my late 30's and I've only been married for about 4 yrs. He only knows me being fluffy, but he has seen my skinny pics and he seems to drool on them. But, I try not to worry about it too much- I'm doing this for me and my health. I love him and I know I want to spend the rest of my life with him, but I know if me losing weight effects our relationship negatively there is not much I can do about it because I'm not going to stay fluffy just to please a man. I want a man to love me for me, not what I look like and it seems that is what type of man I have now. But you never know until the time comes when I am thin.

Two Days, I am worried about the pain

Yeah, my doctor already gave me a medicine (Metzolov, i think is the one for nausea...I have like 10 prescribtions for this surgery, one for gas, nauseauosness, and more, the names are getting mixed up), I am supposed to take it before surgery so that the morphine doesn't make me sick, and he gave me dilaudid (because there is a shortage of Hydros), for pain management. I think my biggest fear is those damn staples in my stomach, I am so worried about poppin those! Thanks for all the advice!

Countdown to surgery Oct 24 7:30AM

I'm having my surgery done at Dartmouth, and they have a strict no weight gain. My insurance company requires a 10% weight loss. I had already been seeing a dietician, and I had already made an appointment to see a psychologist. I did all this before I even thought about the surgery. I believe I had already done most of what the requirements were for insurance company and the doctor. I believe I am mentally ready and can't wait. I just need to know if the insurance company will approve. Thank you all so much for your advice and feedback. Sent from my SM-G935P using BariatricPal mobile app

    crazy question....

i agree with you betsy. pureed Pasta just isn't gonna be the same. however, there are some great canned Soups i love and want to be able to eat but they have rice or noodles in them and wanted to see if that would go over as long as it were pureed first. i'm not big on spaghettios and ravioli outta the can but it's good to know they worked well being blended and you got what you wanted outta them lisain. today we went to a easter thing for the kids (early, i know) and they all ate while we were there. but by the time we left i was starving. so hubby picked me up some chili's chicken enchilada Soup on the way home. i put it in my hamilton beach personal blender (my first time taking it outta the box i must admit) and that thing pureed that soup up til it literally was a liquid! and it tasted just as good as usual. i even added in half a packet of my unjury unflavored Protein for 10 more grams of protein. it was awesome. now i'm super excited about the abilities of my personal blender to make things into liquids that i can have. i'm totally full and happy now and ready for a nap. only problem now is that i'm having trouble figuring out when i'm full..... hmmmm.....
