Clothing Switch Over Provides A Whole New Nsv
janerose posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Just spent the weekend changing over the winter clothes to the summer clothes (a new england tradition) I knew there would be some clothes that would not longer fit; but did not realize that 95% of them no longer remotely fit my new sleeved body. Rather than keep the old clothes, just in case, I have chosen to remove it all so I can't go back. I have always been considered a nice dresser and people I work with have actually asked me for my "too big" clothes - so, I have divided them amongst the people who have supported me over the past few months, put some in consignment and gave some to the homeless shelter. The experience was cleansing and rewarding. My closest is clean for the first time in years. When I finally got my sandals ready for the summer - I realized they were all too big as well - I have never dropped a shoe size before. So off to the shoe store I go - this sleeve is costing me some money ! So many changes in four months - emotional roller coaster for sure. -
Congrats! My very first NSV was that my rings and bracelets fit again. Haven't gotten to the falling off my fingers stage yet, though.

nsv's and GB surgery and scale victory
terrydumont46 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
man oh man after my GB surgery I had lower back pain like I've ever had so I went and got one of those wrap around heating thingamingy things and it went around me easily not just my waist but even my hips. iwas able to wear it all day comfortable like, it didn't curl up or anything. went to the doctor today for post op check. my surgeon apologize that none of my doctor's for the last 2 years didn't do anything about my GB. he said it was a big huge sick gallbladder. the swelling I had in my abdomen and my back pain at the waist are gone. he said there was so much free fluid in and around the gb. apparently I don't look sick anymore. lol. so this is sorta of a lesson to everyone out there. I had been complaining about pain for years. I even had a ultrasound a few years ago but because no stones were found my doctor shrugged it off and said I don't know. if you have pain something is wrong, especially if you can't diagnose why the pain is there. incisional pain you know what is causing the pain. so don't take I just don't know as a answer for something you know is wrong. I think I am going to another cardiologist now. I had all the tests because I kept going into atrial fib and than v tach and because my cardiac cath showed clean arteries I was told by the cardiologist "I don't know why your heart does what it does, it just does". and I excepted that. deal with the problem when it happens again. well I think not. and I lost 8lb this month and 10inches total. yeah!!!! new computer , dang I wish I knew how nice computers were. my old one was from 2006. lol. this thing is correcting my spelling . wow. and no I don't even have a iphone. I still have my fliptop phone. -

Relationships after Banding
CaramelDiva1922 replied to thechatrooper's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been banded for 3 weeks now, nad have lost 26 lbs. My BF was concerned before the surgery that I may leave him. Which I couldn't fathom. We had a discussion and talked about our fears and concerns, and I understood him, and he understood me. I was really surprise to think that he thoguht that I would leave him, because he is a hunk. He's 6'2 and about 200lbs all muscle. He has like 6% body fat, and I was just so shocked that he thought that he would be left out in the cold. He always tell me that he loves me and he doesn't care about my weight, and I believe him. He is always the first to notice nsv's too. He'll say that he noticed that my fingers are smaller while we were walking and holding hand, and things like this. It really surprised that he notices things that I don't notice. I think that you should ,really discuss this with your bf, and get eveything out in the open. Communication is the key to any relationship fat skinny or anything otherwise. -
Lol I can also relate, I remember I used to put skirts up against me and they would be ankle length only to get home, put them on and they'd be much shorter. All my skirts ate now the right length and a few I had to get rid off they were far too long and if course way too big. An awesome NSV!!!! Gj cg!!!

Yay Becky!! That is an awesome NSV...time to get to the store and get some hot new clothes!

Although I despise pix of myself I included one just as proof! My NSV is walking into the employee store & being able to buy a large fitted tee & having it actually fit! A year ago I never would've worn this....mainly cause it would've fit better around one of my thighs then my core GO DUCKS!!!!

Help! Best Shock-Absorbing Walking Shoes?
CowgirlJane replied to WorldTraveler's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I did the 3 day breast cancer walk in 2007. I weighed about 250 at the time. A running shoe store had a podiatrist come in once a week for free consultation. I learned that a soft squishy bottom felt good but I needed a much firmer support shoe. I have a very high arch and my foot pronates or rolls out. It made all the difference to get a shoe to address my unique foot made all the difference. .. I walked those 60 miles in 2 two different pair of the shoes i bought there. By the way, being comfy in more fashionable shoes is a huge NSV! -
Okay... that's it Becky... you really do need to run for office! Ryan... I hope your underpants aren't as baggy as your pants... that could be a tricky situation. Congrats on your NSV!!!!

Good NSV for you!!!

So I've always been big on the bottom....huge butt, thunder thighs and cankles. But from the waist up I've been OK. The beginning of the end was when my torso got bigger, then my arms. I could no longer wear certain long sleeved shirts. Then my dangly bracelets got snug and my rings were too tight. Fat wrists?!? Seriously?! That was one of my "last straws". So yesterday, I noticed I could see the individual tendons in my hands (which were chubby butterballs as I watched my preop nurse look for a vein 12 days ago) So I thought I would check it out further. Guess what! My rings slide on and off easily. No ring indentation mark on my finger. Yeah! Looks like I'm going to lose in the reverse order as I gained.

I've tried to get friends hired on here at work before, to no avail. It's strange how I was just able to walk into our VP's office and let him know I needed a job for my boyfriend so he could move to Texas. It took less than one minute for him to respond "done, what job do you want for him?" I knew I chose the right dress to wear today! LOL

thats a major NSV right there! Hope that was the first AND last! Was it a quick one? or one of those long drawn out slime's that lasted for a couple of hours - THEN relief? BTW - what'd you do to your hair?

How often do you weigh yourself?
bambam replied to BillOh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ex-scale addict here. I used to weigh daily - in fact a year ago when I was "dieting" (yet again) I would weigh several times a day. Now I weigh on Wednesdays (my official weigh in day), and step on for a quick peek on Saturdays just to make sure I'm heading the right direction for the week. I'm 2 months out from surgery and about 3 weeks out from my first fill. I'm finally beginning to trust the band and the process and think I'll be able to skip the Saturday check in soon. If I remember correctly, it takes consuming 3500 additional calories to gain a pound, so anytime I stepped on the scale and was up 1-3 pounds in the past I would get frustrated thinking I had "gained" when most of the time it was just my body fluctuating. But, not knowing that would lead me to a cycle of, "We'll I've gained anyway, I might as well REALLY enjoy it" and lead to me stress eating. Now that I know that I just don't have the desire to put myself through seeing those fluctuations anymore! While I'm enjoying seeing the scale numbers go down I'm trying to enjoy NSV's such as seeing how different my clothes fit, looking down and seeing my feet - not my stomach, enjoying the compliments I'm getting, and buying smaller sizes. I really want the lapband process to be a different mindset for me, not a diet mentality - so for me it works best to keep off the scale as much as possible. But we are all different!! -
Hi Margo Congratulations! :clap2: That is a fabulous NSV!

I should also add that yes, the scale didn't tell a story I wanted to hear but my clothes continued to feel looser. NSV is your friend!! -
