    Lower BMI Bandsters!

I know my clothes feel better and my daughters teacher said my shirt looked really nice on me, I wear it ofter, but she was looking at me like she was trying to see what was different about me. I did have a NSV today! I wore my size 12 slacks and they felt very comfortable, not snug at all. I am feeling more hungry and can tell my restriction is pretty much gone. If it wasn't for South Beach, I think I'd be in trouble!!!:faint: I feel like I am eating a little too well, but it is all on plan, so I will know for sure when I weigh in.

:clap2: Hi Susanah! Glad you checked in. Have been thinking about you and wondering how you were doing. The worst is over, it gets all better from here! Congrats on making if through the first couple of days, the pain does get better. Just give your self time to heal, it might take 2 weeks or so for you to fell 100% (it took me about 11 or 12 days before I felt totally well). Just remember if the gas pains get to you to walk - I spent a couple of minutes every half hour doing small laps of my lounge room (thats all I could handle) but boy did it help. I was told that being gassy (from both ends hehe) is also normal, so don't be alarmed by that either. I'm so proud of you!! YAAAAAAY! You're a bandster now! :whoo: Congrats on the NSV Jacqui, thats awesome!!! :clap2: I wish I was at the pool today, it was so bloody hot here in Canberra!!

    September Bandsters

Hi all! I just wanted to share a NSV....the 1.3 miles I thought I ran the other day? Well I drove in my car and measured it out (I'm compulsive that way) and it was actually 1.5! Whoo hoo! I have set a goal to run in a 5k race this summer in may with my sister (the half-marathoner  ) She is a delightful and supportive person. Of course I will not plan to race anyone but myself. How blessed I am to consider even doing such a thing! Amazing.

Huge NSV for me today! I went to the Monash Pool and I realised I can actually hoist myself out of the water, gracefully, doing that kind of half turn to sit on the edge. I no longer need the ladder. When I was heavily pregnant with Eliza I actually had trouble getting out of the pool via the ladder!

    January Bandsters???

I lost 3.5 more pounds this week!!!!! And I have been eating some goooooddd food on the Beach. My NSV today was that I went to go visit my grandmother who hasn't seen me for about 1 month and she was freaking out saying my pants were so loose I looked liket BOSO the clown!!!! I looked in the mirror and was shocked to see she was right!!! They look ridiculous!!! She also gave me a new workout outfit that fit me better! I am feeling good!!!
  6. Ryan- I find myself shaking my head agreeing with all the above people who reponded so wonderfully! You emotions are normal, we all went thru the what the heck have I done, is THIS gonna work? Missing food, it is somehting that has never gone away for me, but I look at myself and the 100+ lbs Ive lost and it's worth it. now, while going thru it, it sucked! I actually went to my doc and told him I was sick of not being able to "pig out" I think he wanted to slap me. But its the feeling of being deprived. The most important thing is to keep yourself surrounded by people who support you and NO, I repeat NO sabatures (sp??) You will find as I did yesterday, that people who are "sabaturers" always talk about food, what your missing how good things like pizza taste things I personally cant have. I tried them and pb'd so I wont try again. As much as I miss pizza and tamales I dont miss that fat, being out of breath all the time, achey back ect. A great idea I got on this board was to list NSV- NON scale VICTORIES take note of how you feel at 4pm, your energy levels after doing things, how tight your clothes fit... then in a month ask yourself those same questions, see the difference? sometimes the scale is our worst enemy. NSV and body measurements have saved me lots of tears. Sounds like you are doing great 13lbs in 2 weeks- WOW stack up 13 lbs of butter at the store, that off your "BUTTer" lol Keep going, keep us informed. Hey, look at the tickers of the people above look at the 100+ lb loosers, your on your way.

    Boots ~ an NSV!!!

Yay libra!! Being able to wear knee high leather boots has been one of my fave NSV's so far! I feel so HOT when I wear them!
  10. Yesterday, I was shopping at the mall. I wanted to get a pair of boots to wear with a denim skirt that I hadn't been able to wear in four years. (Yay!) Typically, with boots, I either need to buy them in a plus-sized store so the calves are wider or buy the kind that slouch down. Well, I saw a pair of boots in JC Penney that I loved, but figured would never fit at they wet to just below he knee in tight leather. For whatever reason, I tried them on. AND THEY FIT!!! I could zip them all the way up my calf!! I couldn't believe it. It's been years and years since I could wear boots like that! I came home and modeled them for my husband and couldn't stop dancing around in them. Have I mentioned that I love my band? LOL!

That is good news on the arthritis meds Anne, good for you. My Dr. is been very cautious on my blood pressure medicine, he cut the dosage but does want to take me off them yet. Good NSV. Maria

    Steady losers ;-)

StephC - I love you. I truly truly do. And I agree 100% with everything you said. He asked me to come to church with him sometime. I was raised in the church. I have been thinking about looking for church home, and raising my DS in a church as well. I think I wasn't expecting him to make that confession. However, it hasn't stopped me from thinking about him and getting a bit fluttery when I see him. And how beautiful that your family is so kind hearted and giving. We can talk more in PM. I was up until 3:30. DS is up anad ready to get going, but I am hoping he'll go back to sleep now. I called out of work. Personal day. YAY ME! NSV: I ate 1/2 c. food last night and was full! I was multi-tasking and so I took a long time between bites. by 2am I was hungry again, so I had 2 lil chicken nuggets left over from DS's dinner. I think I'm going to start eating much slower. KayDoll - tell us about the excitement in Boston yesterday! I can't believe all that drama was caused by a publicity stunt! HA! People are idiots. bk - screw your sister in law. You do You, and to hell with her trying to bring you down. She is a toxic person. An emotional terrorist. And you don't need to internalize her BS. Limit your interactions and conversation wtih her if she continues to make you question your choices, your success and yourself. You need to be surrounded by people who will support you and encourage you. Just my two cents. I don't deal with BS. Transformer - glad you got your fill! You sound *so* busy. Keep up the good work! It's snowing outside. *sigh* I am so not amused. Just reinforces my decision to stay home today. HOME. It is really coming down, too. UGH. N.

    A Canadian "NSV" Thread

I am so excited!!!!!!! I finally have a NSV (that i recognized). I went off my arthritis (sp) medication when I started my optifast and after the first week, which was he....!! I found that i wasn't aching as bad. I was banded Dec 15/06 and I haven't been taking any of my arthritis (sp) medication on even any Tylonel (sp) either. I had been living on both medications for the last 2 years. I am not sure if I was having a hard time because of food allergies. But I am feeling so good and I am glad that I am no longer taking any kind of pain med. I still am taking my blood pressure meds, but the Dr. said that she thinks I will be off it soon.
  14. Hello Ohio, I was hoping to meet some of you at the bob evans get-together, but I have a meeting to attend. It could be classified as a NSV. I will be a docent (tour leader, for field trips mostly) at the Art Institute in Dayton. The training lasts through spring and into fall so come Dec., I will be ready to lead my own tours. As volunteer jobs go, it will take a lot of time, but Art has always been my first love so I am psyched! Not to mention that I should be nearly at my goal weight by then and I will have a good reason to buy nice clothes to wear for my "job". Cool, huh? For any of you that live in the area and haven't been to the Art institute, do plan to go. It is very user friendly. It's free, other than special exhibitions. It is arrainged so it's very hard to get lost, and it has a great hands-on area for the kids. (and a really cool gift shop and a cafe) So, I won't be at bob evans, but next time (not on mondays) I'll be there.

THanks Lapbandit One of the things that has really helped is havng contact with other who have faced the challenge of superobesity. I have not had a local support group and do not know anyone els who has had lapband- I tried a support group similar to weight watchers but most people had only 20 to 40 pounds to lose. I know it was probalby my own insecurities but I felt like a freak, the scales would not go up to my weight ( I wanted to crawl under a rock!), instead of being benefical it seemed to point out just what a huge and impossible task I faced. I don't wish this fight on anyone but I am so grateful to those who share their stories/results, its every bit as valuable as any personal NSV- thanks for the welcome

    So Totally Discouraged

Thanks, everyone, for the encouragement. Now I remember why I was so devoted to this forum for so long! Somwhow got out of the habit of checking in here, but now I'll have to be sure to keep it up. The support is so uplifting and reaffirming. Know you are all appreciated!! Jack, I always appreciate your comments, and the NSVs are what keep me going even though the scale isn't moving. I've had to buy smaller clothes...my favorite was going down 2 band sizes in bras!! And people tell me they can see the difference. It annoys me that we all put so much emphasis on the damn scale! It's hard not to, though, when I go to the doc and his only concern is that I'm not losing and he acts like it's my fault. Anyway...thanks for reminding me how important the NSVs are and that we need to all support each other...luckily we don't all have bad days at the same time! Emily

    April 2006 Bandits January Challenge

Roberta, congratulations on meeting the January challenge! Your accomplishment deserves special kudos because it was achieved despite the health and physical issues that have challenged you this month. Thank you for the inspiration you have given us. Julie, your mentoring idea is brilliant! Definitely count me in. Here's the thing, when you run the race on Sunday, I want you to visualize this entire group standing along the route -- actually, jumping up & down in excitement -- and cheering you on big-time. We will definitely be with you in spirit! (And if you tell me what time the race begins, I will make it a point to be there at the right time.) You run, girl, and run good! We love you. Betty, your weekend away in Palm Springs sounds fabulous. Hooray on your impressive finish in the Mah Jong tournament! I love those tiles, and I wanna learn how to play too! A guest at my Christmas bash was wearing a bracelet made of antique Mah Jong tiles, and it was the prettiest thing I ever saw. Kat & Dawn: I'm directing healing thoughts your knees' way. Kat, so good of you to fly out to Denver for SIL's knee surgery. Hope all goes well. Amourette, thanks for letting us (a little way) into your new dating life. It's so gratifying to hear about an NSV that's a Romance, and we're hanging on each new chapter! Boo, your brother is a world-class skier??!! How cool is that! And then there's our own Julie, a child-prodigy world-champion-level domino player. This is such a cool group! And I note that our endeavors now embrace even bigger athletic feats, like marathon running. April 2006 Bandits January Challenge: 25 days of exercise completed

    November Bandsters!

Tom, Congrats on your NSV!!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: Are you sure your fill is not too tight? How long does it take to get where you can eat mushies and solids without PB'ng? I am a bit nervous about getting my first fill in february

    November Bandsters!

1 pound a week is great as well!:clap2: That's all my doctor expects with the band. But, as I've said several times, think back over the years and ask the last time you sustained even one pound a week for going on 3 months? This isn't a race that we can't ALL win. The first one to the "finish" line doesn't have an advantage over anyone else. In fact, study after study shows too rapid of a weight loss results all too often in regain. I'd *MUCH* rather lose 1-2 pounds a week, take a bit longer to get where ever it is I'm going, and stay there long term. I did have a NSV at the doctor. I had bought a new sweater but wore an older turtle neck under it. Had to take the sweater off for my blood pressure check. When the doctor came in to do the fill I asked if he wanted the shirt off. He said I could just untuck it and lift it. He then commented about how big the shirt was on me. (And that's why I wore the sweater over it!) Last spring the shirt was feeling a bit tight. And his secretary, who is an absolute hoot, noticed a significant difference too. Remember your family and close friends are seeing you all the time. They're not as likely to notice a difference in your body because they're there for every pound. (Many of us look in the mirror and don't think we look that much older until we look at a picture from several years ago.) 20-30 pounds, a pound at a time, doesn't seem like a lot. 20-30 pounds difference between seeing you will be huge. I guess the moral of the story is that if you want someone to really notice, find friends you haven't seen in awhile. They'll notice! (I have co-workers that now work opposite schedules. I ran into a couple last week and they didn't know I had surgery but certainly noticed the weight loss.) Now, to go SLOWLY sip my Breakfast. Can DEFINITELY feel the restriction. Had a small incident last night with my cream of (if skim milk can be called "cream of" anything) chicken Soup last night. Not a full-blown PB, but some sliming until it passed. I took 30 minutes to eat one cup but with a couple spoonfuls left, felt some tightness. Got the hiccups. It all passed in a few minutes. Not as painful as other times but definitely uncomfortable. Keep telling myself CHEW and SLOW. Tom

    April 2006 Bandits January Challenge

Well I think the curse of the band has finally happened, my flatmate made a pass at me and tried to kiss me, it wasn't funny at the time and I have had to ask him to leave, but I am starting to laugh a bit now about it, just think, he wouldn't have tried it on a year ago at my previous weight, guess I should be flattered? Other gossip is I had another date with this guy I met at speedating and it went soooooo well, we had a swim at the beach, a NSV for me, have never been comfortable wearing togs in front of any boyfriend, and I just didn't care this time,I wore small board shorts but they were so loose, yipppee!!!! Oh and I may have got a small kiss but I guess I shouldn't tell, hehehe!!! I am off to San Francisco tomorrow, hate to leave the summer weather here but we have to work, don't we!!!! Bye everyone!!!

Sorry to hear that you having problems again Barbara465. I hope that this unfill brings you the relief that you are needing at this time. Randi --I agree with the other posters. You may be overfilled. You may want to consider a partial or complete unfill to allow the inflammation around your stomach resolve. I went shopping for a new pair of pants over the weekend. I was able to get a 16petite in regular sizes. It fits very comfortably. I could have squeezed into a 14 P but that would not have looked very good on. It's nice to have some NSV when the scale seems to be a stand still for right now. Melissa Lea
