    Sometimes the truth hurts

I read the 3 pages on the original post you are referring to. And I have to agree with you on this. I understand people want support, but your original reply to the article was not rude, you tried your best to say it in a nice way. If people just want support with whatever their results are they anything we do in life is okay. I agree we all need to be positive , but if someone has a surgery that went far from what was planned as far as results, something needs to change, maybe a revision surgery, a change in the diet, see a therapist to deal with the demons we all have. You seemed to be more helpful than most on that chat that are just cheering on anything as its greaaaaaattt like tony the tiger. I really wish the OP of that chat a very successful weight loss journey.
  2. I had my band removed and revision to bypass in the same surgery. I did have to do the whole program, get cardiac clearance, etc. and did the liquid diet for two weeks to shrink my liver. One night in the hospital and then home with pain meds. I don’t get why your doctors won’t do both at once but I guess everyone is different including doctors.

    TORe Gastric Revision Procedure

Never even heard of it. I had to google it. So basically its just suturing your pouch even smaller thru your mouth. I didnt even know there was a revision after bypass. Pretty interesting.
  4. Good afternoon. I just joined the forum, and I was wondering if anyone has had the TORe procedure done? Thoughts? Weight loss after? I have an appt this coming Monday for a consult. I had gastric bypass 9 years ago and lost 110 lbs but never got to my goal weight, plus I've gained about 20 lbs since the bypass. I'm just trying to weigh my options before I commit to anything. Thanks Amy
  5. The revision surgery was to put my lapband back where it needed to be. It slipped out of place.

    Dumping?!

I got my revision to bypass about 6 months ago and (knock on wood) never dumped. And I eat fruit almost every day, usually either an apple or cantaloupe. If I eat something which is sugary (processed sugar, not natural) I sometimes feel a little "off" but nothing really bad or incapacitating, that's the worst it gets.

Lapband removal - not totally confident w/surgeon

No, I got the band removed in April 2021, I expect my revision to be June 2022. My surgeon wanted my esophagus to heal some before revising. I wasn't in a rush to revise because removing my band helped eliminate the GERD. But I'm still on a PPI, so I'd like to revise so I can come off of the PPI. Also to lose more weight that I didn't lose with the band.

Lapband removal - not totally confident w/surgeon

I guess it depends on your BMI. I had to do the liver shrink diet for two weeks prior to my band removal. I know that my surgeon did an EGD and an UGI with 15 degree head tilt. It was to prove that I had reflux/esophagus issues related to the band, and it would support my case for revision to RNY. So I'm wondering what the process would be to get your revision covered if the surgeon didn't do the tests to prove you were having issues. Maybe it's something to ask the surgical coordinator. It may not be necessary for every insurance company.
  10. Hello all! I want to get my lapband removed because of acid reflux issues. I had LB done in 2001. I saw a surgeon who listened to my complaints and agreed that I should have it removed & recommended getting a gastric bypass to help me lose weight. (I had hoped to get the revision done at the same time but he will only do two separate surgeries three months apart.) I have two concerns. He never did any tests to confirm problems with band and didn't even do a short physical exam when I met him for a consultation. (I thought he would want to feel where my port was and look at the scars from the past surgery). He told me that he'd have his insurance specialist work with my insurance. I didn't think my insurance would cover the removal but they have. The surgery scheduler called me yesterday and surprised me by saying that my insurance approved the procedure and did I want to schedule it in four days! I was shocked. I figured I would need to do the liver shrinking diet for at least a week. Am I being overly concerned? Is the lapband removal such a simple procedure that no prep is needed? The doctor has good reviews and was nice when I saw him. Thank you in advance for any insight/opinions anyone can give me. Holly Sent from my Pixel 4a using BariatricPal mobile app

    May 2022 surgery?

May 19th here with Dr . Mitchell Roslin. Excited getting a revision.
  12. I hear that revisions are slower with weight loss. Just keep in mind, you lost 15lbs in less than 30 days! That's awesome!

    my dinner

I am new to this feed I’ve been enjoying all the comments support suggestions and recommendations. My goal is revision from the lap band to the sleeve my final visit with the nutritionist is the 20th of this month and then I have a few more labs in the tube that has to go down my throat I’m a little nervous about that as I was told I have to be put to sleep has anyone else experienced this?
  15. I was revised January 2021, and 1 year out I had lost 105 lbs. Revision weight was 295, high weight (pre-sleeve) 365. I am currently 195. I just finished treatment for uterine/ovarian cancer and oncologist told me to not actively try to lose weight, but I have lost over 30 pounds since the diagnosis.
  16. I had sleeve and hernia repair in 2017. I just had revision to bypass and hernia repair again. I no longer have gerd. I went to a different surgeon this time and my surgery was kinda major bc my whole sleeve was in my chest. I guess my stomach was growing in my chest and had fat and stuff around it. But I’m all fixed up now and I’m feeling so much better. Better surgeon and no more hernia and no more GERD. Good luck with your surgery.

    Considering this procedure

DeMarie, so glad your surgery went well!! Getting those laps in helps move the gas in the abdomen and relieve the referred pain. Great job! I feel blessed to have had no nausea and only mild pain near my incision sites. I'm tolerating my fluids well. I unfortunately lost a little more blood during the surgery than expected. So I'm still in the hospital as they monitor my blood counts. Walking the hallways at the hospital unit takes alot of energy out of me, but I get a lap in then back to my room to nap. I should be discharged tomorrow. I'm looking forward to recovering completely. But am revising my estimated return to work. I was thinking I'd be off 2-3 weeks. Now I may take the whole 6 weeks covered by FMLA.

    Can't Decide!

When I started my wls journey years ago, I went with the Lap Band, for a few reasons, but I feared Bypass because I thought it was too invasive and too permanent. Fast forward 7 years and I developed GERD and had my Band removed. Now I'm revising to Bypass due to GERD complications. After recently doing research on the Bypass for revision, I watched a YouTube video, and realized that my fear of Bypass was due to Lap Band marketing. So what I will say is, if you start out with Sleeve and have to be revised due to complications or other reasons, you might be "forced" into Bypass the same way I was. Now, no one knows what path their weight loss surgery journey takes us, but it's a theoretical "what if." I never thought I would end up with Bypass. But now I have no other options as far as weight loss and fixing GERD goes. And I've realized I probably could've made a better choice than Lap Band 9 years ago. When you actually research Bypass thoroughly, you'll find that although your disgestive tract is rerouted, it's reversible just like the Lap Band. Sleeve is revisable but not reversible. This video is quite informative and at around the 15 minute mark it discusses the marketing tactic that Lap Band used against Bypass. Best wishes on your journey!

    May Surgery Buddies

Hi everyone I am having surgery May 13. A revision sleeve. I had surgery 2016 lost 60lbs. Gain 25 back. I live in AZ and went to Mexicali MX . I checked out the hospital and had a barium swallow. The technique that was the first time did not take out the hunger hormones. He told me it was not my fault. There are two pockets that need to be trimed to correct the sleeve. I did not have to do a lot of prior testing. Xray, ekg, blood work, urine test. My insurance does not cover weight loss surgery. This surgery is higher than some places in MX but it's a nice hospital with a blood bank, ER, ICU ect. 6500.00. Anyone interested forming a Facebook group of our own set to private

I also am planning revision of Lapland to sleeve. How have you been and feeling since surgery

    Exercise after revision

I am the opposite of you, I am also looking to get a revision, except I am worried about losing weight too fast. I want to slow but steady weight loss journey so my skin will not hang too much. So maybe slow weight loss is not such a bad thing after all. But I am sure you can speed it up by doing all the things you mentioned religiously.[emoji3590][emoji120] Sent from my SM-G991U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Renew bariatrics in Mexico

I am still looking into places in Tijuana, I have mixed feelings about renew because the people who answer the phones are not really competent and are nor the best at coordinating. Right now I am looking into Dr. Illian, I am considering either the mini bypass or the full bypass. I am a VSG revision patient. Are you a first time patient, looking into the VSG?
