Yes, I would also say to have a heart to heart talk with yourself & revisit your intial reasons for having the surgery in the first place. I also recommend setting fresh goals for yourself that have nothing to do with the scale, just NSVs only. Then, write down your vision & plan that you have to knock off the last lbs you plan to lose & hang it where you will be reminded daily. Hope this helps. Best wishes...

Any Happy Bandsters Out There With 5 or More Years Of Banding?
jfc193 replied to NeenBand's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Almost six year this September with the Band. For me any weight gain has been my fault the band has always helped me at meal times with the quantity. When I have gained weight has been eating after nine at night. Another problem was snacking to much during the day. I also stopped exercising. So naturally I gained weight none of this has been the bands fault. On January 1, 2013 I had made my way back to 250 and have recommitted myself to go back on the journey. I try to go to bed by nine at night. I limit my snacking during the day and I restarted my exercise program. My exercise of choice is resistant band training and walking. The band has helped in that I no longer take metformin, no longer have sleep apnea, no longer have to take pain medicine for knee and back pain. In any case I love my Band and all the NSV,s that come with it. -
Thanks everyone. Turned out fine. I sat with my oldest son and my brothers so they know and my food portions were a little bit bigger than normal but I had a shake for lunch. One person asked how much I lost and I said it is private and I don't share. I think she was offended. Oh well, too bad. My fat ass is finally smaller than my SIL, who I hate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was my best NSV ever.

Congrats on the weight loss. What a great feeling it is when snuggling with hubs/boyfriend and feeling so close. I love this too. Yeah, self perception is a tricky thing and I think that most people struggle with trying to see ourselves as others see us (small or tiny for example). It has taken me awhile to adjust to my reflection, but like other things it gets more "normal" feeling as time passes by. In the mean time, enjoy all of the little nsvs that occur and keep on plugging towards goal. You will be there before you know it.

I suffer from terrible migraines. I usually get several per week and only about half the time do medications relieve them. I have just gotten used to the pain. I had splitting migraines in the hospital (surgery was 6/1/15) that the narcotics didn't even cure. I came home on 6/3/15 with a migraine, took a maxalt, and it went anyway. And I have not had a migraine since! WHAT?! This is so weird. I am knocking on wood. And all of the things that should trigger a migraine, not eating enough, sugar and caffeine withdrawal, etc are happening so I am flummoxed as to what my mystery relief is. Has anyone else experienced resolution of migraines after WLS? If so, is it permanent? Temporary? Would love some insight please.

That is an awesome NSV!!! When we're out in public I'm constantly asking my boyfriend "Am I bigger than that girl?" "Is that girl skinnier than me?" It's hard sometimes to see ourselves in our new bodies and getting some outside validation is always nice!! ____ Maggie - Make sure your doctor does every test in the book. To *me* a SLOW leak is not restriction one day and nothing the next. Port replacement seems like a pretty minor procedure. I have my fingers crossed for you.

My wife lost weight. I cook for the house. So when I didn't cook for a month, she didn't eat well and lost about 15lbs - down to her prebaby weight. Then I started cooking again, she joked that she'd regain it. But again, i was serving far smaller portions. In the past I just srved her what I was having and she ate more than needed. So she lost a little more still. It's been a good unanticipated NSV. She's a perfect size anyway, but seems happier in her skin less the baby weight. So, with getting married and changing my last name, I got a new drivers license. My old drivers license had the original picture on it from when I was 17 (which is years before my highest weight). Holy. Crap. http://www.joygraffix.com/holycrap.jpg I'm honestly as disgusted by this as I am excited by it.

This is going to be short and sweet. Everyone keeps on saying how they have NSV (non scale victories) and can feel their clothes getting looser or falling off completely and while those are fabulous victories, I'm a numbers girl. So here I am baring it all - the weight was pretty hard to disclose to begin with but now I'm going to share my measurements. My hopes are to be able to document how steadily I lose these inches (hopefully many and quickly). I did take "before" pictures last night but have not had an opportunity to upload them yet, those will come later. So on to the public mortification All in Inches Left Side Right Side Bicep 18.5 17.5 Fore Arm 13.5 12.75 Thigh 35.5 34 Calf 22.5 21.5 All around Hips 60 Waist 47.5 Chest 44.5 Boobs 49.5 Neck 14 Sizes 22 pants (snug but 24 are very loose) 18/20 top & XXL 40/42 DDD This is where I start, I'm not proud of it but I look forward to seeing the numbers come down.

Is my doctor crazy?!
LilMissDiva Irene replied to Lila21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes it is true and possible, however keep in mind - she is a woman and she weighs less (so her metabolism is going to be quite different). It's not going to be as easy to lose as it may have been for you. Regardless, Congratulations for you're really doing amazing!!! Lila, wow - I agree so much with feed's Dr. I follow that same guideline that I will find my successes in more ways than just the scale. I specifically look for NSV's every single day! My weight loss has been much lower than most others around here so that is what I do to keep positive and know I AM doing a good job. Though I do use my scale as a guide on whether I can try harder or not. However I am very content on my losses to date!! I do set mini goals but and I have set dates attached to try to work to get there. It is disappointing though when I don't make them. I just set the bar lower this time, to something I personally know I can do. Good luck to you!! -
Holy Cow ! Ok, so I havent bought any new clothes in years, and I mean that literally .... I just dont like to shop for clothes, unless Its for something i specifically need. So, since surgery, my things are practically falling off of me, so i broke down yesterday, and went to CJ Banks. I was a 28 for the past 15+ years, so I figured i must NOW be down to a 24, or maybe even a 22 .... nope - an 18 !!!!!!!!! Holy crap!! I was just stunned! I actually cried in the dressing room, and called 5 people I knew who would appreciate it ! LOL Wow, this is all SOOOOOO worth it :-) I just had to share ....

I'm down 40 pounds, and almost to my 1st goal. According to my BMI, I'm still considered overweight but if I don't lose another pound, I will be just as content. Had an awesome NSV last week. Was talking to a stranger outside and was shivering from the cold. I had never met this person before so they had no idea what I looked like pre-sleeve and he said "well of course your cold, you're too skinny not to be"! First time in my life I've ever been called skinny!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

82 lb down..... & my pic didn't look like it today!
Lexuskela posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Since my preop diet started in May I have lost a total of 82 lb. I was sleeved on July 21. I feel great mentally & physically. I have been working out & having NSV'S etc. Today however, I felt good, felt thinner than I looked I guess! My hubby took a pic of me & I looked & I about fell over! Fatness all over again! I haven't gained, I HAVE NOT CHEATED, NOT ONCE. I just mentally thought I looked thinner than I did! My own mental image of myself was better than what the camera showed me!!!! WTF!!!!!!!!! I am supposed to want to show off pics now, not hide them like I used to. Has this happened to anyone? ???????? -
Wow..... I may sound like a dork, but I have knuckles!

My most recent pre surgery NSV was having my husband remove a link from my watch so it doesn't just slosh around my wrist and realizing that it won't take too much more loss for another link to come off! I was almost giddy about it, and it made my husband laugh (in a nice way). Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using VST -
My blood pressure is now 110/70 WITHOUT my blood pressure meds! I started this journey on 2 blood pressure meds then I went down to just 1 and now... NONE!

2month post op and not losing
RealityCheck replied to lapbandgirl2009's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are doing excellent. You are supposed to be loosing 1-2 lbs per week... that is what we signed up for, slow and steady so that it can be maintained and not gained back. And as far as the inches... some people wish they could hit a NSV (Non-Scale Victory) like that. Look at it all girl... you are doing wonderfully. -
How long was your recovery from the plastic surgery? I know my arms, at least, are going to need it in a year or 2 after I"m done losing! LOL! Looking great! Yesterday's NSV for me.....bought the smallest size pants I've ever bought! WOO HOO!

Talk about some awesome NSVs! WTG Patty!

Woohoo! Congrats girl. That's awesome. I'm so ready to not fit my clothes anymore. My NSV this week was having sex with my husband. He hadn't touched me in months and he hasn't initiated sex in almost 2 years. So him being turned on by me made me literally cry. I know it sounds pathetic but I was happy to be wanted again. :-)

Post Sleevers...Please Post Your Stats

45 years old, 5'5"; HW 238; SW 216; CW 145. I never wrote down what my weight loss was as I went, so I don't know what I lost 1 month, 2 months out, etcetera. According to my ticker I met goal weight on 7/7 ( 6 1/2 months ). I STRONGLY suggest you don't weigh yourself daily or compare yourself to others. The unhappiest people on these boards are the ones that do. I only weighed about 2-3 times/month in the beginning, then weekly, now a couple times/month, mostly to have something to put on my ticker. Gauge your success by how you feel, how your clothes fit and all the other NSV's that matter way more than numbers on a scale. For me, my milestones and highlights were my rings fitting (but now they're too big), being able to shop for clothes in regular stores, crossing my legs, not feeling obsessed by food, not drinking alcohol, my knees and feet not hurting everyday, and having to buy a new saddle because my butt got way too small for my old one. -
My boss came up behind me in the breakroom today, and started tugging at the butt of my pants. He was laughing at me because they are too loose and it shows (they're my size 10s). I told him that I was going to buy more pants, but I'm trying to lose a little more weight. A while later, he came into my office and handed me a check for $500. In the memo section, it says "For new pants." Isn't that wonderful???

Here's the short version of my story-- My sweetest in the whole world brother died in September. At that time, I was really losing weight quickly and of course, it continued for a while afterward because I just was so sad I could not eat (who would have ever thought that could happen!) So, then it got cold and I got depressed and just pretty much sat around like a lump of fat until now--Prior to september, I could fit easily into a regular 14 pant. Now, I can't keep them snapped and I could just cry. I haven't seen my doc since October and when I was there, I got the impression (could be a wrong impression) that I was about half way filled and that I (me personally) needed to do more to make this band work for me--I don't know if I can do it!!! I am so bummed that my big fat butt is popping the snaps on these formerly cool looking pants--and I recently had the NSV with my necklace--but I don't want my neck to be thin, I want my butt and hips and belly to GO! Should I just call and make an appt to discuss? I hate going there--it's NOT them--they are wonderful and supportive--I am just feeling like a failure and a freak. Talk me out of this tree, please. I am eating all the wrong things. Today started drinking my usual 64 ounces of Water, so that's a help to getting on the right track again. Help! I fell off the wagon.
