How Are You Feeling About Your Gastric Sleeve Plication Surgery?
Jenn replied to FatToPhat's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
Oh no!! The 3 week stall is extremely common. I experienced it. I think it's your body adjusting to the new diet and starting mushies/pureed foods. I lost another pound so hopefully, my weight loss pause is over. Take care, Jenn -
Only losing 1lbs a day
CC197823 replied to nikki1980's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 1 month 5 days post op and down 34 pounds since surgery. I was lucky enough to skip the 3 week stall but now it makes me even more anxious and nervous for when my first one hits. There are so many things that can affect this like everyone says...my doc has us on a full month of liquid which could be the reason I skipped the 3 week stall. Also I have quite a bit to lose. So many factors that change person to person. Anyway thankful for my progress, I really am enjoying this "honeymoon" stage. -

Anyone struggling with hunger? As in, being non existent? I'm cleared for soft foods/mushies and I'm struggling to get it in. One egg scrambled with a bit of cheese, takes me about an hour. I know it's supposed to be 20 minutes with no grazing, but I have to in order to get anything in. I hit fluid goals (finally) but not Protein and am nowhere near my 800 calorie goal. I've hit the 3 week stall as well, if that makes a difference. I just can't get enough in because I have 0 interest in food.

Experts - Does it go away? Get easier?
feedyoureye replied to Soon2BMiniMommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The hunger hormone is still in your body... your stomach is injured and in healing mode.. your fat is unloading estrogen that makes you crazy for a while (if your a gal)...Your stomach can't yet feel if its full or not because a bunch of nerves were cut during surgery... you could possibly have acid if not taking a ppi..that can mimic hunger... and you are BOARD out of your gourd because you are restricted to what you can eat and how much after years of eating whatever however much food you want to distract and comfort. All huge changes from our old norm. Soon the swelling will go down, the stomach will relax, The hunger hormone will subside, and your food choices will get broader. Things will look more like normal pretty soon. You MUST measure your food and eat the right foods for a little longer... you do not want to tempt a leak or strain that raw staple line at this point! One thing you can do is measure, then eat extra small bites, stretch the meal time out to 30-45 minutes for a 1/4 cup... not kidding here! It helps the brain to appreciate the food a little longer... if you are going too crazy suck on a sugar free mint, or drink mint tea. Write everything down you eat, even if you slip up and graze. Its good to be accountable for what goes down the hatch. Perhaps 7 small meals would work better than 3 meals and a snack. I eat from boredom sometimes too... but I write it down and adjust later to keep in line. Many people go into the infamous 3 week stall too... Mine lasted I think 4 weeks and started around 2 1/2 weeks... this can mess with your head too... just keep doing what the Doc ordered and you will get though it. Minutes go slowly, the the year will fly by... do what you need to do now, work on it, find things you can do to help get you over the few minutes a day that can lead to ruin. drink you water, save a bite from your measured meal to "cheat" with later... use those protein shakes as medicine... they help you get in liquid, protein and fill you up for a while without grating on the stomach line. Remember, your stomach is not healed as much as it will until AFTER 6 weeks. Hang in there, its so worth it! -

I'm So Depressed! Weight Loss is So Slow!
SeahawksFan replied to sukik's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 5.5 weeks out and have lost 16 lbs since surgery. I too started at a low BMI. But I also lost 10 lbs the two weeks prior on the low carb diet. Of course I would love to be lower but I am over half way to my goal and I know it's going to be slower the closer I get. I am doing cardio and yoga 6 days a week as the doctor hasn't cleared me for weights yet. If you ever want to email or chat since we're so close on dates let me know. I also know that around 3 weeks I only lost 1 lbs that week so I was pretty bummed but I came on here and read about the 3 week stall and it made me feel sooooo much better. Happy Holiday you got this!! LA -
Take lots of pre op photo's and measurements. Don't be worried when the 3 week stall appears, you are not doing anything wrong.

Stalled 2 1/2 Weeks, Can't Exercise!
Mr_Worm replied to cariekap's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're at your 3 week stall...its infamous. Just watch...you'll lose inches now for a week or two but little to no weight. Keep in there, its not a race and there will be more stalls to come. Just prepare mentally and follow proper diet -
I think i have hit the famous 3 week stall. I am 3 weeks out today and I have not lost anything in the past 3 days. I was losing 1 to 2 pounds everyday. Time to ignore the scale, right. Put it away for a while. I did start goin to the gym this week. Doin cardio only for right now. I guess I should take measurements and see if those move. Should have done that anyway. Guess nothing to do but hang in there and it will pass.

Sleeved 1/29 SW 242, CW 229... Losing very slow had a 3 week stall hopefully things will get to moving faster now. Between 800-1000 cal, exercise 5 x week -
do a search for the 3 week stall - you'll see lots of posts about people hitting their first stall the 3rd week out from surgery! You might also want to start checking your measurements. Many people find that the weeks where the scale isn't moving are the weeks where they actually lose the inches as their body adjusts to the new weight,

Any Long Island Ny Vsg Buddies?
emily_0192010 replied to wabbitninja's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey Dee I'm not in Long Island, but I'm close. I'm in Brooklyn, so only a train ride away! I'm sorry to hear that you are in a stall HOWEVER, you are what, 3 weeks out??? Guess what? That is the dreaded 3 week stall that pretty much EVERYONE goes through! It is just your body going on pause to sort through everything that is going on. You are doing great so far! As for the rash, I am definitely not a doctor, but is it around your incisions and the tape? I had a reaction to the tape. That wouldn't explain your back though. Just call your surgeon's office and ask. I had to do that for a few things and they are always very nice and understanding about everything. If you want to meet up one day, just pm me and maybe I can help some more in person ((hugs)) You are doing great, keep up the amazing work and don't worry about the stall! -
I think the reason people post the same question over and over is they want to express their feelings/frustrations/joys and want a personalized response. I'm guilty of that myself--I posted something about a 3 week stall yesterday. I did search beforehand, and voraciously read a good number of threads about stalls. I didn't feel that it was appropriate to just add my post as a reply to someone else's prior post.

I'm so upset, I'm a slow loser
loridee11 replied to Panda333's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think what I was experiencing was my 3 week stall, just really early. I lost all that weight the first 10 days, then only .2 for the next 7. I seem to be losing a little again now. -
