Ladies: How much loss 1st week?

3 week stall? Try week 2 stall lol. I lost 12lbs the first week then 0 the second week, omg I'm going crazy over here..

Ladies: How much loss 1st week?

I lost 6lbs on my 1st week postop. Start Weight-289lbs Surgery Day Weight=281lbs Current Weight 3.5 weeks postop-267lbs Total Loss-22lbs I had a 12 day stall, the infamous 3 week stall got to me but lasted less than expected. Hope this helps, to give you a small idea. Good Luck on your journey!
  3. I was a low bmi so I only told family and a few close friends, only one friend from work. I didn't tell my boss or people from the office because I'd have to listen to a ton of "why don't you lose weight normally", "you're not THAT fat" etc. It's very hard to convince people that although I can lose weight, I can't keep it off and that the whole weight issue is messing with my head, let alone completely ruining my health and body. It's so weird that people are so kind and receptive when you tell them you need a hernia repair, but are terribly judgmental if you talk about weight loss surgery. I mean, obesity is a disease and there are levels of trying to fight it (diet, exercise, restrictive eating, going to a dietitian etc and finally weightloss surgery) but people never understand when you reach the final stage and opt for surgery. Though I have to say I couldn't care less. This surgery was one of the best things I did for myself, I returned to work after 14 days, and I broke my 3 week stall today(yay!) - so, no judgment is getting me down!

    Anyone from Maryland?

. I have lost 30 pounds. I have hit the 3-week stall. Recovery wasn't that bad. In the hospital for 2 nights. Feeling pretty well. Weighing food is a must for me. Eating to much is a killer. Hurts like ****.

    4 Things I Wish I Would've Known Pre Op

    - I wish I wouldve known that my taste buds would change. - I wish I wouldve known that the 3 week stall can happen in the first month postop. - I wish I wouldve known how weak and lack of energy I would be the first week. - I wish I wouldve known how much emotions are involved in the process. - I wish I wouldve known how difficult it would be to sleep the first week. - I wish there were more posts like this to help all those preop patients on here. Everyone's experience is different. I am grateful I never threw up and didnt have complications. Im 3 weeks postop and no more pain or gas. But I do have constipation issues and some acid reflux that is being controlled with prilosec. I am currently on 11 day stall, but I have lost 19lbs total. I am happy to be a sleever and I know this is only a tool. We must follow our food stages and exercise for this tool to be a success!
  8. With such a huge calorie deficit, we are tricking our bodies into thinking we are starving. We go into ketosis where our body starts shutting down and our metabolic rate falls. It registers there are limited carbohydrates and fuel to burn and initially stops everything in an effort to save our lives! That's why that 3 week stall is so predictable and happens to everyone. Our body then starts using up our extra fat storage for fuel. When ketosis happens, it throws off the whole input/output theory. You may follow the program to the tee one week and not see weight loss at all as your body is trying to keep you alive! Eventually it starts to shift and this is where patience comes into play. Slow and steady. The weight will come off. Just focus on developing new lifestyle habits that will continue after this honeymoon phase of wls ends 6months to a year out. Eventually we will be able to eat anything again and as I'm already learning it's easy to rack up calories once you introduce normal food in your diet. Using my loseit app on my phone has been key for me.
  9. I have also hit a stall once I switched to soft foods and have also read about the 3 week stall so maybe this is what is going on? I tried to add in some more cardio (shopping) since I can't really hit the gym until after my first doc appt next Friday. maybe more fluids and exercise will get me over the hump! I do know that reading about the other people who have had the stall in losing that it will pass --- just have to have patients! (I have none of course I want to be a skinny bitch hahahahaha)
  10. I agree, I think you've lost weight and your body has cheerfully decided this is quite enough and is giving you a royal 3 week stall. Just stay positive and stay on plan. It will pass, although it may a take a few weeks. Also measure yourself - you may be losing inches, just not pounds.
  11. Normally I would agree with you. But with such a huge calorie deficit, we are tricking our bodies into thinking we are starving. We go into ketosis where our body starts shutting down and our metabolic rate falls. It registers there are limited carbohydrates and fuel to burn and initially stops everything in an effort to save our bodies. That's why that 3 week stall is so predictable and happens to everyone. 12. I had my sleeve on Match 25th and have lost (15 pre-surgery / 10 post). I've lost more weight prior to having the surgery done and it's been 5.5 weeks where I have completely stalled and have not lost anything since the 1st week after surgery. I've heard of the famous 3 week stall but 5, going on 6 weeks.... I'm so frustrated. I get 20 grams of Fiber in using the tasteless fiber in my H20 and drink the recommended 64oz each day. I've been doing T25 workouts and eating just Protein (eggs, chicken, lean meats). I cannot figure it out. There was a point where I notice jeans fitting better, so thought it must be muscle gain but now I'm feeling bloated and no difference at all. I'm ready to give up. To go through the surgery, give up starch, fruit, alcohol, soda, sweets, even vegetables for 5.5 weeks I would expect 15 pound weight loss without even having the surgery. I'm hoping someone else has gone through this, looking for hope or advise. Was really excited to start this new journey but now feeling frustrated.

i look at it this way... i am down 72lbs in 4 1/2 months... when have i EVER been able to say that??? NEVER... so if i am at a stall for a few weeks... then so be it, it wont be forever... So i am going to try to shake it up a bit, and do my "pre-op" diet for the next 2-3 days... keep strong - we will get through this together!!

I only lost 2lbs this week. Maybe it's because I wasn't drinking the water like I should. Need to flush out the FAT! I think our bodies are still out of whack and wondering what it should be doing. Drink drink drink....walk walk walk. :-)

  15. I had my surgery on February 24, and just came out of a 3-week stall. It's frustrating, and my scale almost went out the window! Just stay as focused as possible, and push through it. You'll be fine. Be well…
  16. I have been feeling awesome and recovering so quickly it's been a miracle. I had surgery on April 8th. I am already up to soft foods like chicken and fish with steamed veggies. Problem is I haven't lost any weight this week. That makes me upset. Is it common to stall when only 3 weeks out? I lost 10 pounds pre surgery and am only down 14 since surgery. And words of wisdom?

    What was the point?

I am six weeks out today..and trust me..I was in your exact place a few weeks ago...I did not lose anything weeks 2-4..I even gained a few pounds back and forth..but I would never go lower than what I lost in my first 1-2 weeks..Then in week 4 I got my monthly visit from..AF...which even made it worse..I cried and was so depressed week 2-4..but I noticed that towards the end of my period..the scale stayed the same...that's when I knew..finally!!!..as soon as this is done..the scale has to go down...and sure enough it did...another 5 pounds within the next three days... Just stay on track..and you will get stuck along the way..but don't give up...your body just needs time to adjust to the weight loss..and not feel like you are in starvation mode..imagine..you just lost over 20 lbs..in such a short period of time..your body is like what???..no way..I'm saving everything...and that's what it does..until the weeks go by and your body adjusts..and then it feels ok to continue.. I was very upset and kept reading about the 3 week stall..and didn't believe I was in a stall..I thought I was just stopped..and the scale would never move again...but just don't focus so much on the scale..but instead on how you are feeling..losing over 20 lbs..is amazing..just know..it won't end there..sometimes you won't lose anything for a few days or weeks..then all of a sudden you will drop..just continue and have faith..and you will see things will get better and you will begin to feel better about your decision and your new life.

    What was the point?

It is just the infamous 3 week stall. Happens to most people. Stick to your plan and don't get discouraged. Measure with a tape measure, you are losing inches even when the scale doesn't move. Completely normal for the scale to stick on a number at this point. Give it a few weeks, then you can get pissed off

So i have the 3 week stall ugh

I'm going on day 13 of my 3 week stall. *sigh*.

    Its all about staying positive

Don't be so hard on yourself after only one week. Your probably still retaining Water weight from the IV and also swollen from the procedure. I wouldn't let myself even go near a scale for 2 weeks. Also be prepared for the dreaded 3 week stall that seems to get everyone. Your doing great. Stick with the plan and you'll get there before you know it. And I whole heartedly agree with your statement "It's all about staying positive".

    What was the point?

30lbs in 5 weeks is great! You'll get there run your diet by your nutritionist just to make sure you're on track. The 3 week stall is very normal. My 3rd week stall lasted 2 weeks and then the scale started moving again. As long as your following your dr's plan you'll lose the weight. It may not be as fast as we want but it will happen. Good luck, try not to stress and get angry because that may trigger some emotional eating habits.

Should I be able to eat this much?

Seems perfect to me. The dreaded 3 weeks stall hits almost everyone. I stalled at week 3 for almost 6 weeks! Then dropped like 10 lbs that following week. Just keep doing what your doing
  23. Chele H

    What was the point?

Just because you can eat a whole serving of cream of wheat doesn't mean you should eat a whole serving. You may not be able to feel your fullness yet because you are not totally healed and the nerves in your stomach are still healing. Follow your guidelines and measure your food according to your plan. I still do not eat 1000 calories a day at almost 9 months out. Once you move onto solid Proteins you will feel full so much quicker and eat less. You have reached the infamous 3 week stall....this too shall pass, I promise you.

Is the weight loss on track?

thanks. i appreciate it. I fear the dreaded 3 week stall I read about will happen. I hope not! Sounds to me like you've made great progress! But try not to fear a pause....I don't even like the word "stall". We're asking an awful lot of our bodies with this surgery & we asked a lot before, when we were carrying around so much extra weight. Try to accept that you WILL have pauses while your body adjusts itself so it can keep on responding to the downward direction. That's a perfectly normal thing to happen, and it's not a reason to feel stressed or anxious. For me, it was much easier to stay on track through the pauses if I wasn't thinking of it as something being wrong. Good luck & congrats on your great progress so far!
