Food Before and After Photos

Just a little light cooking today- Spinach and roasted mushroom pappardelle (caulipower brand pasta), an apple chicken sausage Alfredo with linguine (caulipower brand), caramelized onion, turkey and cheddar hand pies, everything seasoned crackers (made from the leftover pie dough), roasted tomato jam (for the hand pies), and a double batch of coconut pecan frosting for cupcakes later this week. Then my plate of what I ate… and didn’t. -
I'm in the 3 week slump post surgery. Not losing but not eating or drinking much either. The struggle is real trying to hit that water goal right now.

Revision date November 8th. Any surgery twins?
jms734 replied to Sunniblue20's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Ugh, I'm heartbroken. My insurance has just come back and rejected my surgery, even though I have CT scans and endoscopies proving hiatal hernia and esophageal erosion. The doctor previously told me he was 100% confident it would be covered since the surgery was medically necessary. I was already one week into my pre-op liquid diet and SO ready to feel better. Best of luck to those of you getting your surgeries soon. I'll keep you all in my thoughts. -
I also had the three week stall. As well as a couple others along the way so don’t be discouraged if this isn’t the only one. I am almost 8 months out now and while the loss has slowed I am still losing. Just stick to your plan and the weight will just start dropping again.

Teachers out there... (or anyone with stressful jobs)
Arancini replied to XtinaDoesIt's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I‘m not a teacher but I do have a very busy week, where I face similar issues. I know it‘s not good but there have been many days, where I just had one meal a day… 😬 In the morning I feel too nauseous to get anything down, then I‘m busy all day and when I get home I just want something quick. My go to has been feta cheese with tomato and/or cucumber or buffalo mozzarella with air fried pumpkin. Do you have an air fryer? I find its the quickest and easiest thing to do. Or maybe - if you‘re cooking for multiple people - pop something in the slow cooker so when you get home it‘s good and ready? I also add tasteless protein powder to my tea / black coffee. Getting one that also dissolves in hot foods/liquids was such a good investment!! Other than that I can only think of shrimp (super high protein for the calories and easy/quick to make), Skyr Yoghurt or tuna (I dont like the can stuff though). Good luck!! And thank you for still showing up and teaching despite all this crazy going on! -
I've hit that 3 week stall too. Just have to push through it. I'm working on meeting my water goals and moving more.

@Arancini I'm doing good. I was in hospital 5 days, had stomach drain removed after 10 days. It was key hole so I have 5 holes plus the drain one. The drain is still healing but nicely. The main work site is still bruised and tender but surgeon said I will feel swollen and pain for probably a few months. It feels like I've been punched and punched and punched but it's not as bad I thought it would be. I'm just over 3 weeks now and progressing from mush to more solid mush if you understand. I will be under the hospital for a year. But mine was done private and its a package which covers a year. I see surgeon again 18th. But see my nutrition lady and bloods doctor on Thursday where he will advise what supplements I require. I add protein powder to food 3 times a day to keep my levels up and do b12 injections once a month. How are you doing? My hardest problems are in the mind. I was brought up yo have 3 meals a day Breakfast lunch dinner But now I'm on 7-8 tiny meals a day which I think is too much in my head but they are the portion similar to a very small yogurt. But to eat anymore makes me so ill. But the advice my nutrition lady gives me is spot on (she has trained to do it I suppose) Stay strong and positive G Xxx

This week’s Soup creation. Turkey, navy beans, carrots, onions, garlic, and rainbow chard in a beef stock broth. I love soup in the fall, eat it almost every day! -
I’m a week post op and feel fine. It worries me because I can eat a whole weetabix without problem. The craving for real food is so bad, my binge disorder is in agony. not caved yet and really hope I don’t. On one hand I regret it because I just want to eat food but on the other hand i don’t. I wish I was already like 1 year post op so I could eat bread

WHERE ARE MY AUGUST 2021 PEEPS?
Bariatric Boy replied to phenomenally_me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
9 weeks Post Op - Lost 45 lbs with 30 more to go....reduced my Blood Pressure medication dosage and reduced my CPAP PSI..... Feel great and able to workout on my eliptical for 30 minutes a day and still take 45 minute walks 5 times a week. Not quite clean yet with Blood Pressure meds but sober and feeling like I turned a corner after a 2 week plateau. -
WHERE ARE MY AUGUST 2021 PEEPS?

Congratulations!!! I'm 9 weeks post op too! I've lost 47 pounds. It is AMAZING! I had my 2 month post op at my surgeon's last week and they were happy with my progress. I was a little discouraged because I stalled out for about a week, but my nutritionist reminded me of all the NSVs...I've stopped having to use my cpap, my feet don't ache anymore, I'm down from a size 18 to a size 12. I still want to lose about another 40 lbs, and the weight loss is moving much slower now. I really have to be more diligent. We had a Halloween party to go to yesterday, and it is HARD to navigate the food (and drink) table at a party! My husband and I were the only sober people there, lol. But it was still fun! I'm learning you don't need food and alcohol to have a good time. Sent from my SM-N976V using BariatricPal mobile app -
It's so bleeping frustrating, isn't it? Three weeks or so of WHOOOOOOOOSH holy mackerel look at me, and then it's like somebody hit the brakes without stepping on the clutch. I had it, too, as did like 90+% of us. Mine lasted about a week and a half (it was slow, not stopped), and now I am back to 2-4 lbs. a week, which is more like it.

Dr. Vuong needs to get current on research. It's fat we're losing. There is SOME muscle catabolism during the process because there has to be, but no, the point is not muscle catabolism, otherwise people who succeeded in losing their excess weight would be weak blobs of fat. 🙄 Weight training helps get rid of fat. It revs your metabolic engine. I did increase my calories (in concert with my new NUT) in order to get my protein consumption up, but I'm not hungrier than I was. And my weight loss actually accelerated by about a pound (0.45 kg) a week. I weight train 3-4 times a week and I do some kind of cardio (running, biking, rowing, skipping rope) 3-4 times a week. And you don't need to be a gym rat. You can go to a store and buy a few dumbbells (buy them in pairs) or a kettlebell. Nick Urankar, who's a CrossFit athlete, has a whole program called "Just a Bar" where you use a barbell (25, 35, or 45 lbs.) for strength training.

So I started working out with a trainer at 2.5 months post-op (would have started at 2 months but wanted to wait until I was fully vaccinated). I am doing both cardio and weight training and I will tell you that has been a huge part of my success. I am up to 1200-1300 calories a day now (9.5 months post op) but I am usually working out 7-8 hours a week (strength training 3-4 times a week, cardio on the other days). I am doing my next “bod pod” scan Friday but I did one when I started with the trainer and 1 in mid-July. From end of March to mid-July I lost 35 lbs on the scale, but it was really 41.5 lbs of fat as I gained 6.6 lbs of muscle. I know I am going to need plastic surgery but at least I am seeing the benefits of doing the weight training. As you can see from my progress, this certainly hasn’t inhibited my weight loss. And bonus - the more muscle you have, the more effective your body is at burning calories. So it’s a win-win.

Anyone get covid or other illness during sleeve recovery?
holly.. posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wondering if anyone tested positive for covid or had influenza, bronchitis, stomach flu within days/weeks of surgery and what your experience has been like? my surgery is in 8 days and I usually get sick a few times this time of year- so nervous -
Thank you so much for your reply !! Yes it's very hard to find the right information and exactly what to do in the gym. I heard that you're supposed to do the exact same routine for a few weeks and not switch up the exercises every week to actually see results. Your workout plan is really helpful, I will look up the exercises and start with this. Thank you so much !
-
I’m so glad you posted this question! I could use some help myself! Here are a couple exercises I was given by a trainer. They are 3x per week. 20 x 3 reps. I started with 5lb weights and moved up to 8. I had to you tube a few of them. They are lower impact but super effective.

Too much weight loss? Is that really possible?
WishMeSmaller replied to mae7365's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had a difficult time stopping the weight loss. I ended up cutting back just a little on my exercise regimen (I also refused to give up my new, healthy addiction), and focused on eating more. I still eat plenty of protein, but I eat a lot more carbs now. My weight is stable and my friends/family have stopped hassling me about my weight. I eat around 2000 calories a day and exercise about 6 days a week, including running and weight training along with other cardio, and yoga. I feel great and I like how my body looks. Good luck! -
Too much weight loss? Is that really possible?
mae7365 posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I have a call with the Bariatric Dietician on Tuesday to discuss my continued weight loss. My primary care doctor is concerned that I continue to loose weight (8 pounds in 5 weeks) this far out from surgery. I've lost 60 pounds since RNY last year and 97 pounds since my pre-op weight pre-sleeve. The dietician thinks I'm in calorie deficit because I'm very active - I walk 5 miles 4-5 days/week and do Zumba 3 days/week. But I refuse to give up my healthy exercise habits! At 64, I never expected to look athletic and have muscle definition vs. sagging skin. (I still have sagging skin, but the muscle has really helped minimize the flabbiness!) My husband and children are concerned - "Are you sure you don't have cancer?" "You need to gain some weight, you look too skinny" "Are you sure you are ok?"...… If it was just petty people commenting vs. my family, I'd blow it off. I keep assuring them that I'm the healthiest I've been since my 20's. I'm hoping that talking to the dietician will give me the tools I need to level out the weight loss without giving up my healthy lifestyle. I guess I'm just looking to see if there are others in this forum that have experienced the same thing. I refuse to call it a problem, I'd rather call it a challenge. -
Thanks for the Reps to the rhythms. Right now my favorite exercise is just walking hills on treadmill for 2 miles or rowing 2 miles. Since surgery I have only walked pretty flat on treadmill. Waiting for clearance from doc which is 2 or 6 weeks I assume

WHERE ARE MY AUGUST 2021 PEEPS?
Summermoose replied to phenomenally_me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Little update, I’ll be 9 weeks po tomorrow and have lost 50 pounds! I’m so happy 😁 it took me a while to notice the weight coming off because I still felt the same, but I now also weigh less than my husband for the first time ever and I think that flipped a switch! -
Pre-Op Struggling
Arabesque replied to AmazonSleeved's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgical team called the first week of the three shake a day diet hell week. You’re breaking a lot of addictions & food dependencies but you usually just have to get through that first week. I thank God I didn’t have to do it this time (done it a couple of unforgettable times in the past for myself). I had to follow keto for about 2.5 weeks. Good luck. -
The three week stall others mentioned is very common. Just stick to your plan and the weight loss will pickup. I never had any problem drinking liquids either. I tried to slow down but if I drink without thinking about it I realize I can drink as much as i did pre surgery.
-
Exactly what @catwoman7 said. The stall is normal and it will move in a week or two, just stay off the scale. I can easily drink 100-150 ml of fluid at once, and have been able to since about 3-4 weeks out. I try not to, but sometimes I'm just ####ing thirsty!

So lately I've noticed that when I move my arms, there's a "pulling" sensation in the back, like there's a marionette string that's caught or something. I haven't worked out my triceps at all. (Seriously, not at all.) It's never happened before, and I don't know if it's surgery-related (I'm almost 7 weeks out). Anyone else have this?
