GREAT NSV!!!!!!!!! so how did it go????
  4. Well, I went in for a CAT scan tonight to try to find out about this horrible pain I've been having in my port area. I'm one year banded and have lost 80 pounds. While I was in the dressing room, I put on that little hospital robe and for the first time in my adult life, IT WRAPPED ALL THE WAY AROUND MY BODY!!! How ironic is that??? I just had to laugh, here I am exactly one year and one day post banding, and having major band pain and possible complications, but yet what an NSV! LOL! At least at made me feel a tiny bit better!

Kittylover: I think whatever helps is great. Good luck with TOPS! I had a NSV victory this week. My massage therapist is into the YOU on A Diet, Dr. Oz book and wanted me to measure her waist and she measured mine. My waist measured 33 inches! When I measured 2 months ago it was 38 inches. So, I think that the Water aerobics must really be helping. Now, below the waist is another story, but I'll take my NSV when I can. I lost 1 pound this week, but the scale is going back and forth. Up one, down one. Don't know if I should count it. I need all of your opinions. I go to see my doctor on Monday. The question is whether I should ask him to give me a fill. My doctor is leaving the state at the end of the month. There office is still not sure if they have another doctor coming to replace him. I have a contract for a year's support with fills, nutritionist support, etc. I may have to find another doctor to continue my care (outside of my current doctor's office). I know that my appetite is picking up, but some foods are difficult for me to eat, ie. meat, bread, anything that isn't chewed well. I think that if I could use, I would get a fill in another 2-3 weeks. But, with my doctor leaving, I feel that I should get it while, I can. I only hesititate because I am going on a week long trip with my DH at the end of next week. If I get a fill, I will be on liquids, then mushies, etc. and would only be trying regular food when it was time to leave on the trip. I don't know what I would do if I was too filled. It sucks that my doctor is leaving. What would you do?

    MAJOR nsv's!

Many of you have seen my posts of frustration and despair over not being able to lose weight with the band. I'm not here to discuss that other than to say I do follow the bandster rules - my body just refuses to lose weight. After over one year I have gotten my wish of being able to view food as what I refer to 'a normally thin person' - Food no longer controls my every waking thought and action - I eat three meals a day on a saucer size plate and feel fully satisfied. I eat a wide range of foods and a very healthy diet. I actually chew my food and enjoy every bite and can even throw away leftovers without crying. I have overeaten twice since banding but I know what satisfied is now and can stop when I'm there. I eat from all food groups although starchy carbs are now eaten like a condiment. i treat myself usually once a month and can be happy with a piece of candy or a few chips. Right now I have a huge box of godiva chocolates and ate 3 on V-Day and could care less - previously they would haunt me, calling my name until i ate every one. I exercise 4-7 times a week and am pretty strong and fit for someone overweight but the frequency is something I can keep up for life. In the past I exercised up to 6 hours a day and that isn't what i want anymore. My only obsession was trying to lose weight and trying to figure out why I cant. i really no longer care - I'm not gaining and I can live with myself. I may lose more but I'm not changing anything else. I'm content with where i am so if weight wants to come off, great but I don't think I will gain. The yo yo struggles are over. Please no suggestions of what I can do to lose weight - I've done it all - I am just going to live my life, no longer obsessed with my size. The band has stopped my struggles and I feel pretty much normal now. I can live with that.

Nikki are you drinking with your meal? If I drink 1/2 hour before or even up to an hour after I don't stay full as long. I try not to drink until 2 hours after I eat to keep the full feeling. I questioned the effectiveness of my fill when I went to eat and ate the whole thing but then after talking to the pa found out that the cup of coffee I had before I ate had helped to wash the food down faster. Thats what they call eating around your band. I kinda did that when my family was in, I was drinking alot sooner then I normally would have and then I did the grazing with them. Big no-no, started back to my better eating yesterday and feel so much better about it. BK - sounds like you got it all thought out with the schooling and its good that you will be helping the community out too. Bman - great nsv! I could really tell it in your pics so I'm sure others at work can see it, but weight is a touchy subject so people don't want to offend or say the wrong thing. Unless they know and then they feel like they can - like at my church - anyway you go girl! I went to support group last night, it was good. We talked about what we read or hear about the band and what is credited information (I gave him the idea when I sent him the Rutheridge video). Then we have an open time and it was good. I met someone new, closer to my age, she just had surgery 2 weeks ago so we talked alot. I gave her the website so I hope she joins in with us. I'd love to have a local friend to talk with. Then there was another lady there who had the surgery in Nov, she's lost 80 lbs! Kay you might remember me saying my big mouth at the christmas party I asked her if she had her fill yet and she looked at me funny and said I don't normally eat this much - I felt like an idiot, our dr calls it an adjustment. Anyway she looked wonderful so I gushed over her, and she was beaming. She said bc she had so much to lose people dont notice like they would me - hmmm - so I said well I could really tell and I can tell she wants to look nice she always has her hair and makeup done really well - I'm excited for her. So it was a good night at group. Nat are you going to say good by before you leave for the sunshine? VA I'm so happy you found your sweetspot. I don't know if I am there or not. Because I still have to think about changing the habits, like I said about the water and stuff but as long as I follow the band rules things are good. But I'm happy for you and I hope you feel better sooner. Who asked about the plane? I was told that its due to the dehydration that you have on a plane. When you are dehydrated your band feels tighter so as long as you have a bottle of water you should be fine. Busy day today, I have my sons cats that I have to drop at the vet for spaying and then I have to go in to work and redo some reports - yuk. Talk to you all later - have a good day.

    January Bandsters???

Dee - I think the Western Caribbean is my favorite. We are going to the Western Caribbean too in August. My DH likes Carnival better than Royal, mainly he likes all the midnight buffet Carnival has - he never gains weight, so he eats all the time! So, we're going on Carnival's Conquest which was built in 2005, so its pretty new. I hear it is a gorgeous ship and huge. I been on Royal about 3 times, and Norweigan twice, I like all cruises, no matter what line. LOL. I have never stepped foot in the gym while on a cruise, but I plan to this year! So hopefully I won't gain while on the cruise - this will be a first for me. Amelia40 - CONGRATS on your NSV! When others can tell, it is so rewarding, especially when they tell you how good you look. Have a good day everyone!

    January Bandsters???

I went to my sisters over the weekend and saw my sister, brother and sister in law and they all told me that I look good and that they can see in my face that I have lost weight. They are very excited for me. I returned to work today for the first time since 12/21 (had another surgery 12/26 and then the band on 1/31) and one of the ladies that I work with told me that I looked like I lost weight. She had actually been scheduled to have the band done and backed out 2 weeks before surgery because she had not family support or support from her long time boyfriend. Anyway those were a couple of my NSV's.

I'm only down 1 lb. this week. Still no fill because of travel, but tomorrow I am scheduled and can't wait! I had an NSV similar to MinIn. I shopped for a suit for a meeting in Cleveland and spent a really long time in my usual Women's Dept. After a lot of try ons, I wound up taking home 2 jackets and 2 pants. When I got home and tried them on and really took a good look, I realized that they were all too big. I wound up taking them back and starting over. I went to one store and found that I could actually get into pants that were a size 14 misses. Not 14 Plus. When I found that comfortable, I decided to try a 14 Petite if I could find some (they seem to be pretty rare). I did and although they're a little too snug in the waist, the butt fit. My goal is a size 8 Petite because that's what I wore in my 30s. I am estatic to think that I am actually getting out of the Plus sizes!!! I exercised 2 times last week, each a one hour session of water aerobics. I think the exercise is what is helping with the clothes fit because I sure haven't taken off many lbs. this past month.

We went to church today. I think that after I get back from FL I am going to visit some other churches to see which one I like, and then we need to join one. Now that I've got the momentum to go, it's not hard to get up and participate in my own salvation. Yeah, I think I'll wait. I may even cancel tomorrow's date, just because I can. He hates being rejected, and it would be my pleasure to put him off for a while longer. Aside from that, I really may have to work tomorrow night. Big Wigs are coming into town and I'm in exec. mtgs Tues - Thurs. I forgot - NSV. On Friday I wore a pair of chinos and a fitted turtleneck to work. The nutso (lies to get attention) lady in the office said, "Nathalie, can I ask you a kind of personal question?" I nodded, and she goes, "Are you losing weight?" I smiled and said, "Just a little." She goes, "Yeah, I can tell." Then she launched into some lies about her husband having to fire some people and blah blah blah. But she did notice, and she's said more than anyone else in the office, except for the guy who interrupted me to say "Hey, you've lost weight. A LOTTA weight! WOW!" ahahah Like I was Jabba the Hut before. I just smiled and said "Thanks Rob." ahaha I wanted to kick him in his scrotum. I need to clean my room. *sigh* I also need to pack for my trip. I can't wait to go! We're flying, bk. That's a big ordeal in and of itself, thanks to my crazy baby boy. He doesn't like to sit still so we're going to be cramped onto that plane for a while. I hope he just sits there and STFU. bk why are you still throwing up? Call your doctor. Stay on liquids until you get that fixed. You should not be throwing up! VAB - good luck on your fill! I know you're ready for it! Sorry you're still feeling lousy. Being sick is absolutely no fun at all. Poor thing. I hope you feel better soon! Do what you need to do to make yourself feel better! Talk to yall later! Hope everyone is having a great day! Nat.

Sandy: I have had that happen quite a few times, I cannot eat anything solid in the morning because I fear *that* pain. a PB is when food actually comes back up usually coupled with mucous nastiness. If you only have chest pain but nothing comes back up it is just 'stuck' and the pain will subside once the stuck food moves it's way through the stoma. It is a horrible experience! If this is your first experience with this it is probably just a little swollen in the morning coupled with not chewing well enough. Or it could be your band dislikes whatever you were eating, I get that sometimes too, even when I know I need a fill. Does anyone have any NSV's this week? My house is chaotic right now after the blizzard, a little bit of cabin fever is driving everyone crazy. Today I decided to get away and go to the mall to window shop just to get away from the madness. My usual stops are Torrid and Lane Bryant. I went into Lane Bryant and tried a couple things on - all miles to big. Right next door is Express - a store I have often admired but never shop there because I'm far to big. For whatever reason I actually entered the store, looked around and gathered some items to try on. Biggest size they have in Pants is a 12 and shirt is a tiny XL. In the dressing room I about hit the floor, I got into a size 12 dress pants! They were a tiny bit snug in the waist but hips and butt all fit great and so $70 later I own a pair of over priced pants; So much for window shopping. I don't even know if I'll wear them but they say 12 so I absolutly had to have them.

I have lost 29.5 inches from my body!!! :biggrin1: I have gone from a tight size 20W to a loose 16 regular. My goals: Tie my shoes without holding my breath - check :clap2: Buy boots that zip up the side - check :clap2: Cross my legs comfortably - check :clap2: Unfortunately, I am at my first plateau. I will get past it. I need to move a little more.
  22. Ok, I'll go. First, I'm sorry I disappeared!! I'm afraid I fell off the face of the earth. I got really, really depressed & cut myself off from everyone. Literally. Friends, family, job, church, the works. I'm just now beginning to pull myself out of the pit. It's been bad. I wouldn't say the depression was band related, though the changes from the band really didn't help, heh. I strongly dislike change! I think I'm still in mourning for my old way of life, even though I'm enjoying the changes the band has brought. Dunno, definitely a work in progress! I'm frustrated with my results. Starting at surgery weight, I've lost 44 pounds in the past year. Granted, that's amazing for the old Janet. I've NEVER lost 44 pounds & kept them off for more than a week! Actually, I've never lost more then 40 pounds! But I really was hoping for better. *Shrug* I trucked on down to 250-ish & just stopped. I've been right around 250 since Sept. Never below it, mind you, lol. My restriction is fine, not sure how much I have anymore (lost track). I can eat anything & everything, but have to do it VERY slowly & carefully. Some days I don't eat much, some days I can eat the world. I get really restricted around that time of the month, hate that! So, for my list: Weight loss so far: 44 pounds Inches lost so far: 53 inches Are you at goal? Not even halfway. How much further? *sigh* 110 pounds (Around that, not sure what my goal is.) Favorite NSVs: I can wear my wedding ring again. I put on size 18 pants the other day. (Couldn't close them, but got 'em over my hips!!) Would you do it again? Yes, in a heartbeat. Overall the changes have been good. I'm not happy with where I am, but I'm definitely not gaining, which I was before the surgery! High point: The beginning (honeymoon). I loved the hope. Low point: Probably my 1 year appointment. I really thought I'd finally broken 250, but I hadn't. Oh well. Before & "during" pics: I'm still working on sizing them, but here's my scar pics. It was hard to find the scars! Didn't realize how much they had faded. One NSV, I guess, lol, it seems my boobs are further away from the scars then they used to be, the port scar is now above my underwear line, and I have a waist now, woohoo! I've missed you all! Hopefully some of you are still on LBT & can forgive me for disappearing! Hope you're all doing awesome & getting all the success you deserve!! ((( Hugs all around!! ))) Janet
  23. Last update to the list's numbers: 2/20/06 Woohooo, it's been a year! (Or close to it, lol.) I figure it's about time for updates. Here's the last list I had (I added a couple of folks from the other thread that posted after I disappeared). I'd love to hear from ya'll -- anything you'd like to tell us. Some ideas: Weight loss so far Inches lost so far Are you at goal? How much further? Favorite NSVs Would you do it again? High point / low point Before & after pics (I know there's another thread for this, but we're special. ) Ok, I guess I'll play secretary. Post your day of surgery, surgeon's name & location (if you want), and any weight loss so far & I'll add you to the list. I've seen it done for other months, can't let 'em show us up! :paranoid Some of January's & March's bandsters are joining us as well -- the more the merrier! Feel free to add your stats! Our surgeries are close enough that we're dealing with the same stuff. As you have more weight lost, post it & I'll update. Inches too, if you'd like. And when you have fills, if you want to share that, please feel free. If at all possible, put the size of your band too (it helps for comparison). That way we can track how others on the January / February / March timeline are doing. Thanks guys! DISCLAIMER 3/8/06: We're adding in pre-op losses separately. If I didn't have yours, I put (? pre-op). If I got your numbers from your signature, I used your highest recorded weight. So if I'm not correct & it matters to you, please post with the correct numbers. Edit 4/21: I updated weights based on signatures where I could. Some still haven't checked in, so they show little to no weight loss. Can't help it! Edit 6/2: Updating everyone's numbers from recent posts and/or signatures. "No update" signifies that I couldn't find new numbers for someone. I'm not taking them off the list, but it does slant the numbers somewhat. NOTE: The red numbers are overall... I didn't subtract out the pre-op number -- though some people did on their own. Yeah, it's confusing... sorry! I should have done pre-op from the get go. 1 kg = 2.205 pounds (Note to myself, for converting Magic's numbers!) Thanks! 24. Last night, I'm sitting on my couch, just relaxing. Without thinking I crossed my legg, after I did it, I realized, I can cross my leggs now, comfortablly! Wow!:clap2: Its another NSV for me. I hadn't tried in so long to cross them, or I could cross them and it cut the breath out of me. But now, I feel so feminane when I can cross my leggs. I just had to journal this down.
