    Teacher stress

The two weeks at Christmas should be sufficient. What grade do you teach? What insurance do you have? They may not require the 6 month diet, Mine didn't, I have BC/BS. Do you have a documented history of dieting? Weight watchers, nutrisystem, etc? A lot of times doctors will push for those to be counted. Even then, I waited a year, I was held up with the psych evaluation, and I honestly think that the year helped me understand and prepare for the surgery. Best of luck.

    Question about overfill

Hi Kristen, I get my fills from Ortiz (dr romero does them) too I had one unfill and it was due to me eating a piece of sushi at 10am about a week or so after a fill - it got stuck i threw up for two days and couldn't keep my saliva down Had to go emergency to tijuna for that unfill - very very expensive and no fun at all. i'm just now after many months back to my original fill - once you get an unfill you have to really let your tummy rest as get refilled slowly - big pain.

    Hello Mushies!!!

I remember that my first egg salad was absolutely delicious! Just a tip. I mixed the egg with 1/2 lowfat miracle whipand 1/2 Fage unflavored greek yogurt for more Protein. I think I made this with either egg or tuna every day for a week. Marie

    One week Post = op!

Ok - had my one week post-op check-up today. Lost 3 pounds since surgery day - and wow, I am getting so tired of liquids. My teeth are beginning to feel a bit neglected at this point! Well - thank God for stranined cream soups and Carnation Instant Breakfast. Next appointment and first fill is scheduled for the Friday before Thanksgiving (nov 21?).
  6. Well I just celebrated my birthday and since I have a family who loves to eat and myself loving to get all dolled up enjoyed the excitement of just going.. We went from Texas Roadhouse one day, to Apple Bees another, then Red Lobster for lunch on another, and Chef's Steak House, & not to forget the margarita and the black berry sangria and the strawberry blast birthday cake[emoji51]. I say all this because after all these places I went to celebrate my birthday and all the so little food I could consume the last two weeks, I made healthy selections when ordering and only gained 3pds[emoji4] I had some things I shouldn't have had but hey it's a blessing all by itself to be able to live to see another one, so I let down my hair and forgot all about meal tracking and acted as if I was a skinny girl with no phat girl problems, lol [emoji23]So this week my goal is to Work Work Work Work Work (in my Rihanna voice) and get them right back off[emoji123]????
  7. Hi All, Can anyone help me please, I have not lost anything now for just over 4 weeks, I have around 800 to a 1000 kcal a day under 25 gms of fat a day, I workout on my cross trainer at home and I work all day on my feet, non stop on the move, So what am I doing to stop the pounds coming off, I would be happy with a pound a week but nothing:think Thanks Cherie :help:
  8. Hi all... Weight loss has slowed right down for me lately ... been struggling to lose...there are many factors in this i am aware of and don't need advice on this (i know what needs to be done to fix ... just current sit is proving tough) Anyway ... on to my main topic ... I am wondering whether or not i should need/have another band fill....i have only had 1 so far ... i'm now 4 months post-surgery.. Reason i am asking is that i feel i am in a little bit of a catch 22....if i eat the wrong food in the wrong way (stuff like chicken in chunks without chewing properly) i cannot eat more than a single piece without knowing instantly that i am gonna suffer big time with PB etc However, if i eat something better or more appropriate (some soft slow cooked meat or whatever) and chew like there is no tomorrow i can eat quick a substantial amount without really feeling restricted .. The way i see it is that if i stick to food that suits the band and work with it properly its not really affecting my consumption and it basically ends up almost like eating puree food. So my question is...should i even with pureed food feel a restriction and therefore feel full for the time it needs for the signals in the pouch to hit my brain to make me satisfied. Sorry for long post but its been playing on my mind for a couple of weeks now.

    im feaking out

yup...Basically...I think all the walking I did combined with the slight spike in calories forced my body to let go of the stall. You can eat whatever you want, just not much of it thats for sure.

hey yall banded on the 23rd

Hey there! I was banded on the 22nd! I was really strict about the 2 oz. rule for the first 5 days, but today, I've been sipping from the carton! I woke up at 4AM famished and the hunger pangs haven't gone away! I was fine all week until tonight! 3 more days till mush! I never thought I'd be so excited about it!

    Help! I can't stop vomiting!

You very well may need reflux meds to help with the healing of your throat & espophagus(spelling). You should go back to FULL Liquids for at least three days - while placing a call to your Doctor. This can be taken care of but you need to be patient while you heal-which may take awhile. Sometimes bandsters can eat things in the begining stages & than years later not be able to eat them anymore. I would stay away from popcorn from now on. Was it the hulless kind?? I was told never to have popcorn unless it was the hulless kind to begin with. I hope your problems begin to heal quickly & your Doctor can help with some meds.
  12. It's good to celebrate and laugh, love and relax. It's damn good. I've been known to order a few Jamaican Cowboy's with kickers of 1800 tequila while in Texas Roadhouse...........one of the few steakhouses that I'll go to.....prefer grilling my own steaks. lol Good job on the accountability this week and gong to werk it all off and then some. You'll do it !! Happy birthday.

    Rash

Are you on Protonix or any other acid medication? it could be a reaction from that I would ask your doctor about it! I am 5 weeks post op and have had a rash around all my incisions the doctor told me it was a allergic reaction to the Dermabond but nothing has helped then I stopped taking my Protonix 4 days ago and it's finally clearing up!

    Alcohol

My dr allowed it at one month which is pretty aggressive compared to others. I waited until two months, had a couple sips of wine and was fine. I'm now just about six months out and have about two glasses a week. It does not impact me any differently than before surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  17. Hello everyone! I am new on this site. I am 21 days post op and have noticed i have very bad upper back pain mainly on my left side near my shoulder blade. has anyone else experienced this? i know its not gas pain because I had a lot of that in my first week. any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!!
  18. I am the same age as you and decided that I needed the sleeve to move on and become healthy. I have tried everything from Atkins to Nutri-system to juice fasts since I was in 8th grade. Nothing ever kept the weight off. I also went to cycling twice a week and yoga twice a week so it wasn't like I just sat around. This decision is a hard one, so take your time. I just knew that I didn't want to spend another 20 years of my life unhappy and feeling like I was missing out on something. If I am like this now, what would happen when I had kids? My family has a history of Diabetes so I didn't want to let it get that far. Ir you read enough posts on here you will see that many people say they wish they had done this years ago and that no diet/exercise routine ever worked for them. You will figure it out soon Don't worry we will support you no matter what.
  19. So tomorrow will be three weeks post-op, and since my surgery I have lost around 7 lbs. I feel like that isn't much though? I am really hoping to be down 30lbs by August 15th from where I am now..Unrealistic? Thanks, Chloe.
  20. I was thinking today about how I was eating a couple of weeks ago verses how I am eating today, Day 7 of my pre-op diet. Yesterday I was counting my calories for the day, and realized I had consummed less calories in four days (averaging 650-800 calories a day), than I used to eat in one day. A couple weeks back I was mainly think of the pre-op diet, and first few weeks of the post op diet.... now I'm starting to think past all that... and the lifestyle change. Anyone else been looking further down the road too? John

    Cancer Scare

I now the feeling. Having the big C label isn't fun, I'm happy for you that they are going to do just follow ups. I had lung cancer at age 30 never smoked now 51 and now a lymnode is getting enlarge. Scared! I decided to continue with my dream of the lap band. It's been only 2 weeks out. I need to find a job, for I can go to a cancer Dr. again. Money is tight now taking on this payment. I had a carcinod tumer that grows slow in the past. I'm going to try to find a study that will help me. But I new, I needed to get healthy body and mind to take on this next hurdle in life. I sure hope I can do a 3 mile walk in 2 years. I think you are doing great. Today I just sign up hoping for some support and meeting nice people that can understand. Deanna111
  22. Have u had the surgery? When I talked to insurance today they said turn around time for decisions is 15 days or less. The WLS program told me once it is approved I have to attend a 3 hour pre op class. They have been scheduling those once a week. After the class I can schedule my appointment with the surgeon and then I will schedule surgery. I am thinking maybe in November. thanks!

    Band corrosion

Hi - I actually had a a tube erosion and had to have everything taken out and a new one put back in it was a bump in the road. I and 2 weeks post op now.
  24. I have been on so many diets over the years and gained and lost literally thousands of pounds. I just finally decided I needed the tool of being sleeved. But it's not for everyone. And it's not easy either. That said, I am happily sleeved three months tomorrow and haven't regretted it. I've been keeping a blog for my family and friends to be able to check up on me and I wrote a blogpost that might help you out: "Dieting is Hard Work" on Takin' a Load Off. Some friends had suggested that getting sleeved was taking the easy way out. You can tell I had a full head of steam when I wrote the post, but they were very real emotions. Good luck on whatever path you take!! Carol
  25. Hi all, I'm new to the forums but I had my surgery Dec 17, 2010. I've lost 112 pounds so far and everything has gone great. That is until about 2-3 weeks ago. I haven't had a fill since March but all of a sudden about 6/7 days a week, I'm barely able to eat anything. If I eat a normal 4-6 oz, I start getting back pain anywhere from 15-45 minutes after I've stopped eating. I haven't changed anything in my diet (what I'm eating, how I'm eating, etc.). I've tried everything I can think of to stop the pain - slowing down eating even more (taking a whole hour to eat), eating foods that are normally easier to go down, etc. The only way I don't have pain on these days is if I only take 2-3 bites per meal. I know that there are days when you can eat anything and days when you can't as I've experienced this throughout the year since my surgery but this is getting really frustrating since it's almost every day of the week. Some days it makes me sick and then I got on liquids for a day or two so I don't feel that I'm able to get the nutrients I need. I don't understand why this is happening since it has been so long since I've had a fill and I haven't had any problems up until now. I have my one year checkup with my doctor next week but was hoping someone had some advice or insight into this. I'm incredibly frustrated right now. Thanks!
