To the newly sleeved..... What does your daily diet look like so far.
hockeyfan7 replied to mandaroo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3 weeks post op - starting week #4. My nutritionist's plan only has liquids for 10 days before starting solids. Breakfast is usually scrambled egg or a cheese stick or cheese slices or the Dannon Light & Fit Greek yogurt. lunch is 4 to 5 oz of lean grilled Protein and veggies. dinner is the same. I'm loving zucchini dipped in egg and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese and baked. I just got fresh green Beans to steam in my produce box this week. And I like salad too. -

Great Summer Meals to Keep You Chillin'
Alex Brecher replied to 7 Bites_Jen's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Thanks for the article! These are great ideas – it’s always good to have easy, healthy, seasonal recipes on hand. Gazpacho is another cold soup you can make. It’s great when the cucumbers at the farmers’ market are too irresistible to pass up, so you buy too many. You can throw some cooked Protein in there, too – maybe chicken, Beans, or tofu. Or you can even put Greek yogurt in to make it creamy and add protein. -
I had my surgery on June 17. I'm on full liquids as well and really haven't eaten that much to be honest. I'm trying to stay hydrated and take a bite or two of yogurt, cream of wheat Cereal and sip or two of premier Protein when possible. I'm just not super hungry and think I'm a bit swollen still. What I did notice is that my surgeon's office provided a different post-op 6 week diet guideline than the one the nutritionist in the hospital provided. The discrepancy concerns me so I'm going to stay with the most restrictive diet until I can discuss it with the surgeon's office next Friday.

Pudding, lots of pudding. To the extent that I won't eat pudding again for a very long time. Greek yogurt, homemade cream soups because the store ones just put too much junk in it. Protein shakes too, as some one put it, until they were coming out of my ears. I've seen some recipes for some hot and sour soup, but I never made it. Looking back on it, it would have been delicious. You can Google a ton of good recipes out there, but if you're not one to make things for yourself, your options are pretty limited without exceeding fat/carb limits that should be put on your diet during this time. Just remember these are just temporary times and soon you'll be in pureed, then softs. As time goes by you'll get that water in without an issue. Welcome to the forum and good luck on your weight loss journey!

Band to sleeve in one procedure
hockeyfan7 replied to ette16's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, the nutritionist said it was fine to do lean Proteins and green veggies at the end of week two. I just had to do Protein shakes, yogurt and cream soups the first 2 weeks. The program at the hospital I went to progresses you to solids between day 10 and day 14. -
June 8th sleeve...things no one told me
shancanssleevejourney replied to work2Bskinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi June 8th buddies, I too was sleeved on the 8th. I didn't have bad abdominal gas but I had it really bad in my upper chest and radiating into my left lower shoulder blade. Make sure you take the pain pills and stay ahead of the pain and yes believe that walking will take care of it much quicker. I am up to soft foods now and tolerating everything very well, the only problem I still have is everything tastes sickenly sweet, I don't even like yogurt, so its been extremely hard for me to get my Protein in. I was losing at least a lb a day and all of sudden I have stalled. Not sure why except maybe my body is adjusting to real food again vs everything liquid? Not sure. Keep in touch! I would love to have buddies to walk through this with! -
Hi, Is anyone on the liquid protein preop diet ?
aliciac replied to lisemaria's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have bought Campbell's bean with bacon soup and cream of potato soup. I blend it in the blender and then heat it up in a coffee cup to drink. It is much more satisfying than the other types of boxed creamed soups. I also have a protein shake in the morning. I put a 90 calorie yoplait yogurt, and 1 cup of non fat milk, 1 scoop of protein powder, and some frozen fruit. My nutritionist said that was o.k. to have. In the evenings I have 1 protein drink from a container (premier) and some more soup. I'm hungry all the time, I'm hoping it will start to get better soon. -
Looking for convenient protein foods
DroppinLikeItsHot replied to Malagal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with all the foods listed above. I found a to-go cup of hummus and pretzels thins helpful. I do eat the pretzel thins (or a few I should say) but use them to scoop a ton of hummus up at a time. I've been doing eggs salad and tuna salad a lot. I found a low calorie, high Protein wrap (9grams) I've been using - I only eat about 1/4 of a wrap, but it is good. Greek yogurt and beef jerky are my current go tos. -
Get to the store! for your post op diet. Get a food scale, plastic strainer with small holes and measuring cup. I'm on full liquids and was sleeved on 6/16/15. I also got a pill crusher and Jello sf pudding readymade cups for my medications. The strainer was great for cream of mushroom Soup. I had a metal one and it clogged. Walmart or target had good prices. Got Greek yogurt and coconut Water (which has 640 ml of potassium) Chapstick for after surgery was my best friend. I would just say. Get to your feet ASAP. I was walking 3 hours after surgery. I did tolerate and put up with my pain because I did not want to be too gorked from the pain meds and not walking. This is also important as I was up about 10 times using the restroom to pee and hated bugging the RNs. Get a great nights sleep it the day before, or make down time. It actually seems to be getting easier. Good Luck! It will be ok.

Well here I am in the recovery condo through Bariatric pal in Tijuana Mexico. ..I had my surgery Wednesday June 17th at about 4pm with the Dr. Zavalza team. I feel pretty awesome... I started researching last year numerous doctors and finally made my decision in march and paid my deposit. . I had decided to fly to Mexico to have my sleeve done. I arrived Tuesday night and was picked up at the airport brought to the condo and had a good night visiting with another house guest and Johnny, 24 hour care taker. The surgery and check into the hospital was fantastic. I was picked up taken to the hospital all the hospital documents were in English. .I was prepped and put in my room ..my nice private room with TV private bath. The nurses were wonderful...ah and Rosa was an angel. There were 3 of us that day with Dr. Zavalza...I was was second. I remember very little...haha I was wheeled to the operating room and asked to move on to the table and the last thing I remember was seeing Dr. Z Dr. Luna and the Dr with the happy juice..I made some stupid comment about being greys anatomy cause all the doctors were so cute....lol then I was out!!! I awoke in my room with Dr. Zavalza checking on me..I felt very high. ..I felt great. Lol let's just say I was having a great time by myself on the Facebook support group...it is not super clear but apparently most of the people werekkilling themselves laughing at me..so it'sgood to know iI had a great time.. anyhow I am now 3 days out. I was discharged from the hospital yesterday no complications. I had no nausea, no pain to speak of, some gas discomfort that I have been walking and walking and walking. My sleeve seems to be handling small amounts of broth, jello, water and some yogurt. ..I spent 3 or 4 hours walking the streets yesterday and I was tired but felt pretty good.. I can feeling the swelling of my tummy going down slowly so that is good. I woke up at 4 am because I went to sleep at like 8pm haha and have managed to have about 5 ounces of water. Sip sip sip...lol so I still have 2 extra days here because I did not want to fly home too early. I am getting my staples out today. Dr. Luna is coming over to removed them and go over my diet over the next while. I am so impressed with the service of Bariatric pal. The support staff open our doors. .carry all our luggage and groceries. Check on us..24 hour service right next door in the recovery condo. It is more than I could have imagined. Sob that's my update so far. It seems the surgery was so far away and then bang here we are...it's amazing how fast it actually came up.

Still feeling hunger after sleeve - post-op day 11
punklandia posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi folks, so I'm 9 days out and have been sticking to the liquid diets. I live off low-fat yogurt, Protein drinks like nutridrink and cup-a-Soups. About 4-5 small meals a day, 3-4 hour intervals, as suggested. Sometimes though, I still feel hunger! Is this normal? Wasn't the whole point of this surgery the lack of hunger to sustain long-term weight loss? On the upside, have already lost (in 11 days!) about 9 kilos! Whoop whoop! So is it normal I'm feeling hungry? Thoughts? Thx -
Gearing Up to Begin Pureed Phase
Gingi replied to EmpressB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ate a lot of Hummus, it is one of my favorite foods by itself. I also did Greek yogurt, refried Beans, mashed sweet potato, mashed banana with some Peanut Butter. I found that Gerber baby food tasted better than Beach Nut. I liked the roast chicken and roast beet. The little jars of Gerber (yes, baby food!) were easy and convenient because they were just the right portion. I also ate Tuna and Chicken as well as Krab salads I really enjoyed a scrambled egg atop mashed avocado, Mashed squash is tasty also, I put some organic vegetable broth on a plate and place the squash face down on the plate and microwave it for about 20 minutes...so delicious! -
Peanut butter...oh no!

Ice cream and frozen yogurt. It comes out of both ends almost immediately. -

Don't feel like I had surgery

Sugar free or low sugar frozen yogurt?
AvaFern replied to Bndtoslv's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
We have Yobe and Sweet Frog where I live. They both have lower sugar yogurt options and they're both really good. -
Its pretty good. I tried it. I have chicken Soup, chocolate splendor vanilla, unflavored and the strawberry one all ready for post op. Maybe I went overboard. None of them are that good but this seems to be the best of the lot. The good news is that my surgeon's office had them tested and they are one of the very very few that accurately list their Protein - most significantly over state how much protein there is their product. Someone here recommended mixing the strawberry with greek yogurt post op to really get a good protein boost and flavor your greek yogurt at the same time.

Has anyone found a decent tasting frozen yogurt or ice cream that is sugar free or low sugar? Does pink berry have anything that is nutritionally decent?

Hungry every 3 hours
JamieLogical replied to kia2345's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't have that requirement with my nutritionist. My Snacks just have to be "high protein", no specifics that it has to be milk protein. I WILL often have a reduced fat cheese stick or greek yogurt as a snack, but I will also just as often have nuts or a meet stick (like a beef stick, but with turkey or leaner meats) for a snack. I know a lot of people also do Jerky as a snack, but I can deal with the texture of jerky. -
I found something on Pintrest I am going to try that is similar - Frozen strawberries, Greek yogurt and a little honey. However, I may try the frozen bananas as well. Thanks for the tip.

I've done protein shakes with milk a couple times this week, but I haven't tried any dairy since the yogurt. I'll have to keep that in mind -
Do I really need anything other than a hand/immersion blender?
Bufflehead replied to Bndtoslv's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My plan allowed refried beans, yogurt, cottage cheese, peanut butter, and scrambled or poached eggs to be eaten without pureeing first on the "puree" phase. Pretty much everything else had to be pureed. I didn't have any trouble with any of these foods without pureeing. I did use my little food processor for pureeing rather than the immersion blender, which I don't think would have worked well at all! And I did puree lots of foods, and they were delicious! The trick is to puree meats with a really tasty sauce -- NOT something gross like broth or water -- then heat it up in the microwave with a little cheese melted on top. It tastes and feels pretty much like any other casserole. So, for example: --roast chicken breast + low carb bbq sauce + cheddar cheese --shrimp + remoulade + peccorino cheese --shredded turkey + peanut satay sauce + jack cheese --salmon + lemon dill sauce (no cheese!) --ground beef + steak sauce + bleu cheese --mackerel filet + curry sauce + swiss cheese --roast chicken breast + garlic marinara sauce + mozzarella cheese The other part of the trick is to have a medical plan requiring four weeks of post-op full liquids -- and liquid means liquid, no yogurt or "thinned out" oatmeal or anything like that. After four weeks of liquids, pureed chicken with marinara sauce & mozzarella cheese tastes like heaven. -
To the newly sleeved..... What does your daily diet look like so far.
zonetracy replied to mandaroo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 9 days post op and my menu has been looking like this: 8oz Protein drink during in morning 5.3oz Greek yogurt for lunch 2-3oz some type of soup or broth for dinner (I liquify it in my magic bullet with a splash of milk if it's a thick soup) another 8oz Protein Drink later sipping Water and Gatorade throughout the day The yogurt usually still takes about an hour to eat. The other meals take about 30 min or so. -
I know what you mean about the one bite that pushes you over the full level and it hurts! Wish I knew what "full" felt like before I get to that point! I've heard of a few people becoming lactose intolerant, could that be your problem with the yogurt? Any other dairy give you a problem since the yogurt incidence?
