    January Bandsters???

I get fill #2 tomorrow. All stocked up on liquids. I hope I get some solid restriction with this one. Wish me luck! Oh yeah... NSV today! I walked up the stairs to my profs office on the third floor at school today.... withOUT huffing and puffing! I used to have to stop at the top landing and catch my breath. I wasn't even able to talk right away before. Today I walked right up and even met a friend at the top and had no trouble talking. Whee! It's the little things that really make a difference.

    Steady losers ;-)

Steph....glad you got that fill back up to 5ccs! Hope its the sweet spot this time and it all stays in there!! BK...sorry to hear about the puking.....I think if you were doing it over and over, it wasn't a PB but a real puke...hope you don't have the bug that I got!! I had a NSV today!!! A fellow bandster had given me some of the clothes she didn't wear anymore and there was a short sleeve sweater in there size XL (18-20)...well, when I got it from her about a month and a half ago...I tried it on and it was TOO tight to wear in public!! So I put it back in the closet! WELL....the weather here in VA was going to hit 80 today so I figured, I'll try it and see how bad it looks...it fit GREAT!!! I am in clothing that does not have a 1x, 2x or 3x on it!!! :faint:  I can't belive it!!! Now if only I could be that size on my bottom! lol

    May Bandsters~March Chat!

Big NSV today! I pulled a pair of size 14 jeans out of my closet just to see how far I need to go to fit into them and I got them on......and zipped! :faint: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: Now, I wouldn't wear them out in public because they are a tad bit tight and they give me a serious muffin top, but just the fact I was able to zip them was amazing. Now, I'm working on getting into the size 14 levi's too. They are a bit smaller than the generic Walmart jeans. And not quite as stretchy. But I'm getting there. All that walking/jogging and working on the treadclimber has paid off. I also went and got some stretchy cords from Walmart today to start working on my strength training. It's cheaper than going to the gym and just as effective. I have all the stuff here at home to get a good work out, so why am I paying for a gym membership? I think I'm going to cancel it since I'm not using it. Myra!!!! Man, girl, you are doing awesome!!! Just amazing. Keep up the good work!:clap2:

I can't wait for that NSV! I am SO limited on what I can wear on top as I carry most of my weight around my middle. I can't WAIT to be able to shop in normal stores again!!!!! Wally World, HERE I COME!!!! (in a month or 2....):paranoid

    For Just Us Guys

:clap2:I had a NSV already that almost had me doing cartwheels this morning. Being only 2 weeks post op but I am thrilled. I know it sounds lame but its big to me. I was acutally able to buy clothes at Wal-mart and they fit. It was the largest size they carry, 3X mens, but none the less it fits. It has bugged me for years to not be able to buy what I call yard clothes or play clothes like tee shirst and stuff from discount stores like Wallyworld and such. Just seems so unfair I have to go to a speciality store to buy a tee-shirt to mow the yard in and pay like $15; now I can get them for $7. So anyway, it was a huge victory for me this morning!

    February 2007 bandsters!

Thanks for the feed back. I find if I eat slower and talk more then I eat less. That's pretty hard for me being the introvert, but I find if I eat with someone at lunch instead of at my desk, I slow down a lot more and tend to sort of play and pick at my food instead of eating, so net I eat the smaller amount. First fill is scheduled for April 4th, then I go back every two weeks until mid May while my Dr. is trying to get the band to the right place. I have the larger band and he said it takes a little more adjusting to get the restriction to the right place where he wants it. On a completly different note I had a NSV already that almost had me doing cartwheels this morning. I know it sounds lame but big to me. I was acutally able to buy clothes at Wal-mart and they fit. It was the largest size they carry, 3X mens, but none the less it fits. ABC 2006~March Chat

I decided on my last fill that I would ask for what I wanted. I told the PA to "get serious" and fill that sucker up. She added .5 cc I think and it made a big difference in restriction. So, I say, go for it -- ask for what you want. You're paying for it. If it's too tight, you'll know when you drink the Water or they will see in on the fluoroscope. Robin, I am so proud of you -- you are doing so awesome. You have so much to be proud of. All those NSV's to go along with your great weight loss!! Especially, the health-related ones. Those are truly the best. I may be able to do lunch on Saturday -- I have a busy weekend since this last one was a total bust with being sick, but I'd love to see you and anyone else that is available. Otherwise, after the end of this month, my schedule frees up a lot. I am finally feeling like I'm going to survive -- I'm even going to get into the office tomorrow even though I worked 10+hours today, I did it from my bed, which is a lot easier! Take care!! P.S. I'm totally excited that I am now classified as "slightly overweight!!"
  9. I was banded on 12/20 and had my first fill on 1/31 - 3ccs in a small band.:omg: Here's the worst part - I lost 3 lbs in February. Only 3 freakin' pounds!! I have lost no pounds in March. I have had some NSV's like I have lost over 30 inches off of my body (7 inches on thighs alone). I started as a size 20 and now I am wearing 14's. I am working out 6 days per week - a mixture of cardio, strength and weight training. I am getting 60-80 grams of Protein per day. I am not drinking while eating. I am getting at least 48 oz of Water in daily - usually more. I am taking my Vitamins. My daily caloric intake is averaging around 1300. I keep a daily food journal and have faithfully documented everything that I have eaten since 12/13 (pre-op diet). What else should I do? Is it possible that I need another fill? I don't feel hungry between meals and I know that my meals are much smaller than pre-band but I am frustrated with the scales. Has anyone else experienced a 4-week plateau? What broke it?

Mandi, when you hit the 12's you definetly have to spend the bucks!!!! I know I would. Think about how much you have saved on food. Great NSV!

    February 2007 bandsters!

Travelgirl Going from a snug 24 down to a comfy 22 is HUGE! That jump is a MAJOR NSV! And you were banded on 2/5/7 I love it! So are you planning on wearing shorts this summer? Of course you are! I am smiling so big right now and everybody at work thinks I am chatting on a porn site. (my silly co workers have filthy minds) I am sure they can not understand how much I love lapbandtalk and how uplifting it is to talk to other people about how well they are doing and how happy everybody is.

    February 2007 bandsters!

LOL I love this thread! It's flat out gorgeous today here in north central Kansas, so I'm going walking on my lunch break, too! I've had a Curves membership for about 7 months now, and I've had every excuse in the book to not go. Well, I'm re-committing to make myself go at LEAST 3 times a week, and I'm aiming for 4 or 5. I really love the ladies there, no one ever makes you feel like you shouldn't be there, they're always encouraging, and they always have a smile on! GO ME!!! Oh, by the way, I had a MAJOR NSV last night! I went down a pant size!!!!!! I'm down from a very tight 24 stretch to a very comfy 22!!!!!!! WOO-HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    November Bandsters!

Isn't that a nice feeling! I've been pulling clothes out that I thought I would never wear again and they actually look nice! :clap2: The SV's are nice but those NSV's are just as wonderful! Keep up the good work! It might be best if you go back to the basics. 3-5 small meals a day. Small bites, eat SLOW and quit eating after 30 mins. You'll be surprised at how content you are. Go for content, not full. Getting full isn't good for the band. If you choose high protein foods, you will stay full longer so you may find that you are just fine with 3 meals a day. Mix it up a little and find what works for you. Good luck!

    Nsv!!!!!!!

I had a great NSV today! My size 24 jeans were getting pretty loose, so I decided to dig out my size 22's, and guess what? THEY FIT PERFECTLY!!!!! They aren't even tight!!! WOO HOOO!!!!:clap2:

I was able to work in my garden with my DH and do everything I wanted to do. :heh: Now granted I have lost about 30 poundish in weight:omg: . But it has already impacted what I am able to do in my daily activities.:clap2: It is really amazing.:girl_hug: TTYL. Myra

    December Bandsters in March!

I am seriously thinking about getting a BodyBugg to help with the exercise thing. However, it's pretty expensive and I was self-pay with the band so I am trying to rationalize why I'd spend even more money when the band was supposed to do it. Anyway, I had a NSV today. Even though I think I still eat too much, I know I'm eating less than before. Typically, I'd order a 3 plank chicken dinner with extra hushpuppies and a large soda from LJS, but today I just ordered 2 chicken planks and 2 hushpuppies (those did not go down well so they are on my do not eat list). I know it's more than I should be able to eat (which is why I really think I need a fill), but it's A LOT less than I used to eat. And I ate the chicken planks with a knife and fork instead of sucking them down. I was proud of myself.

Boo, I cannot wait to be a sizew 16/18. You go girl! Part of me feels like that will be my goal, part of me wants to get smaller. Right now, I'd settle for anything smaller than my current size (26/28...more on the 28 side). I am seriously thinking about getting a BodyBugg to help with the exercise thing. However, it's pretty expensive and I was self-pay with the band so I am trying to rationalize why I'd spend even more money when the band was supposed to do it. Anyway, I had a NSV today. Congrats on the NSV. Sometimes if we treat ourselves to a new outfit it really helps us to realize just how far we have come. Keep up the great work.

    New NSV's

I have been a little bummed out occasionally because my loss has been slower than others. I've also stood in front of the mirror and don't see any big difference, that's why I've never posted my pics, I'm afraid everyone will say I look the same. But this week I finally went out and bought some new clothes. I was wearing tight 3X and 30-32 before my surgery (I could squeeze into 28 pants if they were really stretchy). All of the new clothes I just bought for going on interviews are 22-24's!!!:clap2: :clap2: And they fit very comfortably. I guess maybe if I took a pic and compared it to my before I should be able to see some difference anyway. Atleast my clothes say so. And....today on an interview I was led up some stairs to go to the Manager's office rather than waiting for the elevator. I almost choked. But guess what? I made it and I wasn't even huffing and puffing. My knees were a little wobbly, but I made it up and then made it down again.

    ABC 2006~March Chat

In December, there were some posts regarding "What I've Learned from my Band". Some of them were very humorous, but each and everyone of them was so true! So, I went back to the December chat and compiled a list of those "I've Learned"s and added the few posted on March chat, and here's what I have come up with (sorry for any typos)... I’ve Learned (from my Band)… Compiled from the members of the Lap-band Talk - 2006 ABC It's not the first bite that's a killer - It's the second or third If you can drink it for Breakfast, that's a good option In the morning I better drink something warm before I eat - Otherwise solid food, no matter how much I've chewed it, will go down like the Titanic Soup with lunch or dinner helps relax the esophagus and reduces PBs - A glass of wine does even better I will never be bored with my band Just when I think I know my band - I don't Sometimes I can eat breakfast - sometimes I can't - Ditto for the rest of my meals If I get really hungry - Forget it I'm getting stuck What "Oh crap, I'm about to burp up this food" feels like Random stuff like candy corn is impossible one day, and smooth and easy the next Losing weight feels SO GOOD NSVs (Non-scale victories) can feel even better than losing weight I never know from one day to the next what I can eat or how much Just when I think I need a fill, the darn thing feels tight again It really is a learning process - Learning the band - Learning how to eat to live - Learning how to lose weight I love my band but I'm also quite afraid of it I don't have to panic if I have a setback (ie: overfill, weight gain, etc.) - I can still succeed My defeatist attitude doesn't help I need to work with my band and pay attention to what it likes and doesn't like (ex. it doesn't like bread... so stop trying to eat it!) It's my friend and it's doing its job. Even though you now eat small amounts you still need to pay attention to what that small amount is I will ALWAYS subscribe to the "I wonder what band I'll wake up with today" syndrome I absolutely LOVE my band - I never want to go anywhere without it ever again - It was the best thing I have ever done for myself I still have to watch what I eat - If it's hard Protein my band tells me when enough is enough - Ice cream?...not so much Sometimes I still want to binge and stuff myself - The urge remains unfortunately, but the capacity just ain't there I never have golfball/PB issues with people who know I'm banded – It’s always with people who don't know - LapBandLaw? I've learned you can quickly say "I need to go grab a tissue/glass of water/tampon" and bolt, and nobody really cares - Unless you're gone a really long time in which case, go for the "female problems" defense My band has an attitude - If it doesn't want chicken it won't let me eat it, but if it wants chicken tomorrow it lets it through just fine My band isn't a miracle – It is still going to take time and a lot of work I have to get fills for it to work - It isn't giving in to admit I need one A size 16 at one store is NOT the same as a 16 at the next That blueberry NutriGrain bars are really good – They make a great breakfast and defend against fast food if they live in my purse. Never go shopping with my mother – I wind up spending too much money When my left shoulder joint starts hurting, I should stop eating The scale will continue moving in the right direction, as long as I don’t give up
