  1. Yes, I was a very faithful LBT person. On here everyday of my life 10 times a day. I was trying to help newbies and now I think I need their help. I lost the first 80 pounds in 6months no problems. Then I started messing with my fills wanting to loose faster, then too tight, not tight enough and I'm a cash patient and 13 round trip to Dr. C's for fills and unfills so not too cheap. Well, my husband of 26 years made the remark that I ought to just have this taken out as it doesn't work no more than anything else and I had just wasted 20,000 cash. Really hurt my feelings so I've decided to just try to jump back on one more time, go back to the basics and when I get the cast off my foot start exercising daily. I will also be on here daily like I was doind when I was succedding. Hope to get to know everyone as all the people that use to be on here I'm not seeing them. Thanks for listening, Hugs to you all, Sherri
  2. When I started this process, I weighed 235. I set a goal of 150 for myself. When I was in college, I took a full load of classes, worked full-time and worked out 2-3 hours EVERY DAY at the gym. With that schedule, I weighed 150 and was a size 10. I thought that if I got THERE, then I would be at my 'best.' Well, I got to 150 and knew I wasn't done. So, I revised my goal to 143, because that put me at a healthy BMI. 143 came and I have still been losing, and I knew I'd eventually get to the 100 pounds lost mark. I MADE IT!!!! WOO HOO!!!

    helpppppp please

Thank you for everything...now u said u did self pay and I'm just curious I'm 19 and my credits not too high. Did you have to have good credit for that carecrdit? I think that sounds like a great option for me I just need to know what hoops I have to jump through for each option. Are payments pretty high up there? Did that include airfare? Also about the procedure did you loose pretty fast ? Thank youcomfortable and full faster but able to swallow w/o vomiting- when u reach it that is when It all begins life changes as u know it! This has truly changed my life.... No more tv for me..... now I love to play basketball with the family, ride bikes, go to the beach , live life without being afraid b/c of my size. No more back pain either!!!!!! And also since I was self pay I didn't have to do any pre surgery visits I just called and 2 weeks later I was having the surgery.

    Feel the Band

I have had the band since 10-10-07 and no I can't feel the band inside me. When you tighten you tummy muscles up you can feel the ridge where the port is , but that is only if you know where it is and are feeling for it.

    Pre surgery

I feel like this is taking a long time, but then I read what you all are doing and I seem to be moving pretty quickly. October 22 will be 2 months and I will be done with all requirements by November 1st. That's like 10 weeks or so. I just hope there are no red flags on the tests and that there is still room on the surgery schedule. Sent from my LGLS992 using the BariatricPal App
  6. I am 4 months out from the surgery and went back to my therapist for some anxiety/depression issues. She prescribed Zoloft and said to start out with half a pill and work up to the whole pill. Well, its been awhile since Ive had to take these kinds of meds (10 years) and they just seem soo strong. I dont know if it seems stronger because im eating less or what. These pills make me not want to eat and make it hard sometimes to swallow. I dont want to stop because I really need some help with emotional stuff but Im not eating, I dont mind I dont feel hungry at all, but I dont want my weight loss to stall because Im starving either. When I do end up eating I rush because I finally feel hungry and I either get stuck or feel nauseated. Any suggestions? Anyone else have something like this happen to them?
  7. Hi, I have been taking this same Vitamin now for probably 3 months. I really like it. I used to take the 1 a day O'purity vitamin from unjury. I like that the Procare Vitamins are also one a day and are easier to chew than the O'purity (plus they are quite a bit smaller!). I don't like the taste very much! I do have to drink something after I chew them to get the taste out of my mouth. The taste is not unpalatable, however. I also like that they are less expensive than the O'purity at only $10 for a months supply. I would recommend these vitamins. They were recommended by my NUT.

    New to the bama forum

Hey thanks so much for the added info. I have my first appointment to meet and talk with Dr. Schmitt on 4/10. The only 2 things that are making me worry (in the scope of getting the required things out of the way) are: 1. unecessary test such at sleep apnea study, I dont have any problems in this department. I have severe joint and lower back pain, hip, knees, and feet. 2. I only use an urgent care clinic if I get sick, I havent had a "family doc" in 10 years or more. I just hope he will accept the records from a clinic. Im not sure how this will if you have a letter from a primary care doctor. Did Dr. Freeman require everyone to have a sleep study and a letter from your Primary care doctor saying you were ok for surgery? Michelle

    frustrated/1st fill tomorrow

Rosemary3, I have felt as frustrated for the last 4 months. I have just had my 4th fill (5.5 cc's in my 10 cc band) and am just now beginning to feel that I am getting some help from the band. Its not an instantaneous thing, you have to get to your point where its tightened up enough for you. Hang in there, it is definitely worth having the band. You will see.
  10. I was banded on Friday the 14th. Today is the first day I have felt like myself since.... My incisions are healing nicely, but the gas pain is horrible. I don't really have it in the shoulder, but mostly in my chest ... I can't burp either... it goes in, but doesn't come out which just makes it worse! Any words of advice how to get the burps up? I know that it would be the cure to my ills! Yesterday I was allowed to add yogurt to my diet and man! I needed it! I haven't really been hungry (although my stomach grumbling begs to differ), but the yogurt hit home nicely. One thing I am having issues with is drinking enough Water... I am forcing it down, but I think I'm subconsciously am afraid I will gulp it down or take too big a swig. Today I did get enough and I feel a million times better. I have been walking... started with 10 minutes and tonight will be up to 15.. I am actually going to venture to the market ... with my family.... in my pajamas! LOL I have never done that, but you know what? I don't really care.. I want to get my walk in and this way we can kill two birds with one stone! I know it's early, but I have already lost 11 lbs since surgery day.. I am sure that it's because of my liquid diet, but that's okay.. it's making all the pain and discomfort worth it!

3 weeks post op and depressed.

You could just have described me! I am almost 2 weeks post op and other than the acid reflux (doc said to take Prilosec for 3 months to keep acid down and the stomach heals). I lost 7#'s the first week after surgery. I am getting in at least 60g of Protein. I'm drinking 60+ oz of Water. I eat soup (tomato mainly) - and I can eat the entire can - I didn't think I would be able to. I haven't lost any #'s the last week. I feel like I didn't even have surgery! I'm hoping when I get to the pureed stage that I will fill up with small amounts. I'm not depressed - I'm just concerned that I'm not doing enough of something or too much of another; I know about the 3 week stall but I haven't heard of a less than 2 week stall! :/ I'm also 3-wks post op and not loving life. I have very little discomfort unless I take too big a swallow of something (my own fault). My biggest frustration is that I'm not losing weight. I lost 10 lbs the first 7 days and since then nothing. Here I am 3wks post op and I've only lost 10 lbs. I hear other people at 3wks lost 20+ lbs. I try not to compare myself but jeeze I'm bumbed. I'm logging every bite (range between 800 - 900 calories/day) and every sip of water (40-60 oz/day) and every bit of exercise (walking about 2 miles every other day). Oh, another crazy thing is the lovely acid reflux I have every time I eat (never had that before - yummy!). And, when I drink water, soup, or any liquid, my internal plumbing likes to grunt, groan, and gurgle until air bubbles come up as burps. I can stifle the burps but I can't control the other noises and my co-workers are noticing and giving looks. Yup, so I'm there with ya on the frustration platform.

    Am i done losing weight?

I'm thinking stall too! its only been 2 weeks.. and you are near the end, so its going to be that much harder now... Someone i know was in a stall for almost 2 months as she approached her goal, she went back to basics... she did the pre-op diet for a few days, then started the post op diet, fluids, soft foods... this helped jumpstart her back to lossing the last 10 pounds... just a thought if you really wanted to shake things up... Congrats to you on your "loss"!!!

Can anyone answer some questions for me???

Hi there, Well I was banded on 6/19 first thing in the morning. I went home that afternoon. I too am 32 however I only have 1 child and he is 4 yrs old. Honestly...I was useless for the first 3 days..slept most of the day. By day 5 I was back to work and have been since. Would I do it again...so far I would say Yes..don't get me wrong..I had my moments the week leading up to the surgery...*am I doing the right thing*, * I am volunteering to go "under"*, but it really wasn't that bad. Do I feel the band...no as far as I can tell...it just feels a little sore inside, but nothing that freaks me out or anything. I am prone to migraines...I haven't had one since the surgery however beforehand I check with my pharmacist to verify that my migraine meds could be crushed / cut...I take furicet. Also you can "you tube" lab band and follow peoples vids from beginning to end...that was what sealed the deal for me. Hope this helps...feel free to send me a friend request if you have anyother questions or concerns

    Fill/Slippage?

I've had my band for 5 years and have had great success (100lb+ loss), however I am now able to eat anything since I have not had a fill in 2 years, and have begin gaining weight. I have a filled scheduled through fill centers on 10/8 and initially thought that a fill was all I needed. I have been reading the slip board post and have begin to wonder. My port and band feels like it's in the same place, I don't throw up and have no soreness. I regret going to the slip forum. Has anyone else felt this way?:smile2::confused:

    70lbs! Need support

Awesome job! You look great and so happy! Firstly, I would suggest buying clothes that fit properly and you feel great in. That really helps with goals and motivation. When you look and feel great, you wanna keep it going. I would make smaller goals at this point to get you to your final goal weight. Excerise 10 minutes more a day. Say you want to lose 5 more pounds by October, or X amount by the new year. If you make solid but smaller goals, the task to get that last push doesn't seem so daunting. I can also tell you I feel better physically and more confident with my body at almost 150 than I did at 180. You're even taller than I am, so I would think you would at 160. It's amazing the difference even 20 or 30 pounds make!

    In the first month

Consider pain medication and swelling. You will lose, promise. I'm 10 weeks post op and down almost 50 as of today, also had the week 3 stall last about 3 weeks... It'll happen. Sent from my iPhone
  18. I had my surgery 10/12. I am scared to death of slipping back into my old ways, and all of this was for not. Now that I feel better, it is so hard not to go back to my normal life. Everyone thinks this is an easy way out, it is a far cry from it. I am so confused on what is the right way of doing things. I worry constantly if I eat this or that, is it the beginning to failure? I work two jobs and am often time exhausted between that and keeping up with my family. How do I balance all of this and exercise into the equation? How do I cook for them knowing that I can't eat that meal that I just made? For right know these are the things that I struggle with the most. How do all of you all deal with it? Eating Out???

We eat out a lot too and I LOVE OLIVE GARDEN!! salad is not a problem for me so I have about 1/2 bowl of that. And if I really really want some of the breadstick I will take a little pinch off the end where it is crusty, and I've only done that 1 time out of 3 that we've been there. My FAVORITE menu item at Olive Garden is the Mixed Grill and I get it with all chicken. There is NO Pasta with this dish. It is all grilled chicken on a kabob with bell peppers & onions in the most amazing marinade...keeps it all moist. It comes with steamed veggies like squash & zucchini and roasted potatoes. I put 1/2 in a to go box right off the bat. 1/2 of a full order of all chicken mixed grill has 315 calories, 43 g Protein, 10 g fat and 10 net carbs. Or....if I'm in the mood for spaghetti I get spaghetti and meatballs hold the pasta. I don't even miss the pasta. In a mexican restaurant I'll order a burrito or enchiladas and just eat the filling, not the actual tortilla....or a taco salad, or sometimes fajitas (i don't eat the tortillas). I also always order it with ground beef not shredded beef. Chinese...pork & seeds & an egg roll or sometimes cashew chicken, no rice. Rice, chow mein, and lo mein are not my friends. Tonight I had pizza for the first time since banded...Papa Murphy's thin crust combination with some salad. AWESOME!!! So yes, you will be able to eat out again. During my pre-op diet I left 2 restaurants crying and posted that I thought I'd never feel normal in a restaurant again....so you're not alone!!! But it will get better. The first couple weeks after surgery are the worst but it all gets so much better after that!!

    Exercise Goals

Have you considered lap swimming? I have knee problems so it is my exercise of choice. I find that after swimming I feel less taxed than when I do the eliptical machine. I swim for an hour at a moderate pace (no stopping). I am pre-band and since I started swiming in 9/08 I have lost 76 pounds. While I improved my eating habits I did not start a really serious diet until my band consult in 1/10. I use a waterproof MP3 player which makes swimming sooooo much more pleasant.

  23. I have found drinking liquids like water to be more difficult now than the first 7-10 days. Milk however, goes down much easier than anything else.
  24. I am seeing my Banding Dr on Sept 6th and will be having my surgery 3-4 weeks after that. I am starting to get myself prepared for post op period by trying different Soup brothes and protien drinks. My personal trainer that works with Dr. Mckee my banding Dr, said I should try to get as close to 25G Protein per a shake. So I found a whey powder that is choc and it has 23G protein. The weight watcher high protein had 19 so if I dont find one I can stomach I plan on doing that one. so I just thought I would ask all of you what you did for Protein Drinks during your post op or even now. What liquid diet suggestions do you have? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...
