    NSV

I had three NSV last week. A shirt I ordered deliberately too small fit, my work clothes are too large now and don't need safety pins to hold the shirt closed, and my jeans that I'd bought 2 years ago and barely fit then, now require a belt. I'd thought after being sleeved 3/1 that I'd be further than 37 lbs down (especially after losing 28 the first week)... But these NSV's are keeping me going for now. Sent from my iPhone
  2. Congratulations both of you!!! The NSVs will surely be showing now. Start shopping in your closets.

    NSV

I started the pureed diet yesterday and had some scrambled eggs this morning. It felt good to actually chew some food, instead of slurping it. I only did a little because I didn't want to overdo it and did not have any issues with it. I'm excited about going into this phase and start eating more textured food. I have to admit while I have been on the liquid diet, I have not felt full and didn't feel that way this morning when I tried the eggs. I guess I will feel that way when I start eating more foods...
  4. Another NSV..... I fit into size 14's now!!! Wahoooooo This has been a good week!
  5. yep... a big Non-scale Victory happened to me today and I didn't get it. I had to get it explained to me. But once it was I haven't stopped smiling since! : ) So I went to Pennington's (a plus sized clothing store) today to buy some new panties and bras since I'm still wearing the ones from 72 pounds ago.. not a pretty picture, I know. I asked the sales lady to size me for new bras, so she did. this is how the conversation went: Saleslady: "so I think you're a DD36" Me: "oh no way am I a double D! I don't even think I'm a D" Saleslady: "Ok, so maybe a D36 then but we don't have any 36's" Me: "What do you mean you don't have any 36's? Like not in stock at the moment? When will you be getting more in?" Saleslady: "No we don't carry size 36's" Me: "I don't understand" Saleslady: "We don't carry that size, only 38 and up. I know that the lingerie store that is a few stores down from here is having a really good sale, you should go there for your bras and panties" Me: "Sooooo I don't need to shop here...?" Saleslady: "Yes, that's right, you're too small for this store" YES THAT IS ACTUALLY HOW THE CONVERSATION WENT!! I almost had to ask her to repeat it because it was very cool to hear!!! heeheeheeheeheeheehee I am too small for the Plus sized store! I can shop in regular stores! Even for lingerie! I was dumbfounded! (as you can tell by my side of the conversation) It totally made my day!!!!!! And another one to top it off was that a friend gave me a LARGE running jacket and I was going to put it in my closet not thinking that I would even get on... let alone do it up... and it FIT!!! I even zipped it up!! Did I mention it was a large??!! Just thought I'd share!! Today was a good day. hahaha If you got a NSV to share, please do! even a scale one! Aaaaaaannnnd GO! Keep being awesome BP friends! Heather
  6. Life is pretty darn good these days! Thanks everyone!! Each day I get little bursts of motivation by either compliments, NSV's or by reading all of your inspirational posts! I can't wait to hit my next big milestone (onederland!) - which I'm hoping within the week And then the next one - 100 lbs lost and so on!!! Let's keep kicking butt everyone! We are all in this together!!! ????

    I'm 102 pounds down

@@Briardlady you said "That is my real victory, being able to do what needs to be done". keep a record of all your NSV's/dates (do as i say, not as i do) it's interesting./fun to see what you have accomplished pre and post op 102 lbs lost!!! party dance, party dance you are aces!!! keep up the good work kathy congrats
  8. Awesome story !!! Saleslady: "Yes, that's right, you're too small for this store" LMAO. Great stuff right there. Well done on the jacket, too. I had a moment like that Friday night. Finally was cold enough to need a jacket and was going out for an evening out. Didn't really want to wear my everyday coat and reached for a leather coat that I'd planned on wearing for Winter of next year. Yeah....it fit and zipped and everything. Crazy. Wore it with pride. NSV's are great. Also hit a new low weight the next morning. Keep on killing it. I know you are working really hard in the gym and the energy has to be feeling great.

    HAPPY new year!

Hello everyone, it has been a while since I posted or updated. Mainly because there isn't much to update. (Just over 9 months post-op) First: I am going to go a head and admit that through the Holidays I sucked! I ate too much (not to be sick, but over my calories) and the wrong things at times. Reset- Holidays are over so I admit it and I am moving on from it and back on the horse and focused! The worst part of this (or at least what I am calling the worst) is that I still lost some weight through it. I am saying this is bad, because other than knowing I shouldn't have done it, there was no "punishment" in my mind. Honestly, I wish I would have just gained a few pounds. But, it didn't seem to stop me from getting re focused and back on track so I will take it. 9 month update: No changes except weight and NSV's! I can eat anything (including what I shouldn't) I don't and have never dumped. I still track everything I eat and drink, still stay within my calorie range (less the previous comment). I had my 9 month follow up with my surgical team. They called me a rock star. I was very proud of myself and how well I am doing. I still don't exercise, they still don't care. LOL Well, kinda, of course it has other health benefits but they are not concerned for the weight loss aspect of it. I am well ahead of schedule, and my Nutritionist has already started talking about my maintenance calories and how to start upping my calories slowly and safely. I told him to slow down, I still want to loose another 43 lbs to hit my goal! He agrees that is achievable, but was merely explaining where my calories would likely fall when the time comes. Which, is about double what I currently eat so he wanted to bring it to my attention so I could mentally prepare for how much more I would to eat to stop loosing weight. He explained that some people struggle physically and mentally to increase so greatly so he wanted me to have time to process and prepare for it. He said I would fall between 2000-2300 calories a day WITHOUT exercising, more depending on the intensity and frequency of exercise. Yeah.. that's a lot. I still drink a shake a day to maintain my calories and proteins, 70g protein or more a day and 80 oz fluids a day or more. Pretty much all water, and usually 1 sugar free drink a day to switch it up. NSV's are ENDLESS! Really, as we lose weight so many things change. Even some bad, like my bony ass knees when I sleep I have to stagger them so the knees are directly on top of each other because they hurt like crazy in the morning! I could go on for days about this subject! Body dysmorphia is real, like really real! When I was my heaviest, I knew I was fat but when I looked in the mirror I didn't see a 422 lbs person but when I saw pictures of my I did.. man I did.. I was sick to my stomach and so disgusted! Now, At almost half that size when I look in the mirror I still see a fat girl but when I see pictures I am like WHOA I am so small. I found out my cousin is 1 size smaller than me, but when I look at her I see someone very small and when I look at myself I cannot believe we are only 1 size different. I look so much bigger! I love to see pictures of myself now! I encourage them rather than hiding in the back of them. I buy shirts from everywhere, and really only because I can. HAH I have never been able to buy a souvenir shirt, they never fit. Not even close to fitting. Now I literally buy them everywhere I can, to an rate of just wasting money because I shrink out of them faster than I can actually get use out of them. To finish up: I hope to hit my goal weight by my 1 year follow up but I know 43 lbs in 3 months will be tough! My original goal was 225, which is much more reasonable to loose in these next 3 months. But 210 is my ultimate goal as that will be half of my starting weight which is pretty freaking cool! 422 down to 250 26/28 down to a 14 4/5XL TALL shirt down to a 1/2x regular shirt Good luck to all!!!! ❤️

    Anxiety

Ugh I feel you. I am preop (no surgery date just yet) and I am way more excited for the nsv rewards than the scale. I want to be able to ride on an airplane ( I don't even want to deal with the issues of being an obese person on a flight) , be able to go to theme parks and ride rides, not worry about if I will fit in the seat every where I go. I am very excited for those changes. I'm planing an Orlando vacation as soon as I loose some weight and ride every ride I can at disneyworld and islands of adventure. Anyways people don't realize how exhausting it is to be overweight. Like I always make sure to be the first one to show up to the restaurant so I can request a table ( not a booth). One time I couldn't do that I was on a date with my then boyfriend (now my ex) and they had to get a chair for me and I had to sit at the end of the table in a chair because all they had was a booth. I wanted to cry the whole time it was so embarrassing. I wanted to leave but I didn't want to make a big deal out of it. I can't wait until I never have to worry about things like that.

    My list of NSV's!

Not being embarassed at the register when the cashier rings up my pants and then proceeds to hold them out for the whole world to see as they fold them OMG! I can't tell you how embarrassing that is, and the underwear too!! I can't wait for that NSV! I want to scream, just throw them in the bag woman!!! LOLOLOL

    Small Nsv For Me

This isn't a small NSV. Very cool that you were able to go out and enjoy a meal and work your sleeve. I clearly remember when I was finally able to eat REAL food again.

    Night Out Dancing

WOW! An amazing NSV! Congrats! I hope I lose more weight soon to have that much of energy!!
  17. So, I started out at 277 three months ago before surgery and right before 2 week pre-op diet began. I stepped on the scale this morning and for the first time in YEARS (maybe even a decade) I saw a "2" after the first 2. Just barely but it was there (229.8 to be exact). I just had to shout it out - I was really really excited to see that little old 2. Hitting a new "decade" of numbers has been my short term goal and has kept me motivated. If I think of the 90 pounds I still want to lose it seems overwhelming. I'll stick to my mini-goals and I'd encourage all my fellow bandsters to do the same. NSVs are wonderful - but for me I only "trust" the hard cold numbers on the scale. They will always tell me the truth LOL! Best of luck to all of us on our journey - I'm so happy I got the band!!!!

    Nsv....

I'm proud to announce that I am wearing the same pair of jeans that I wore when I met my husband 7 years ago. I haven't worn them in at least 6 years. They are a size 20, which is still huge, but considering I was in a snug 26, it feels fabulous. The NSV's are so much more rewarding than that number on the scales. My next goal is to get in a size that I don't have stuffed away in a drawer or closet somewhere. Because that means I get to go shopping!!! Not sure what my goal size will be. At 5'4" and a goal weight of 150, I would hope to be in a 8 or 10. I won't know how to act to go hunting sizes like that at the store and actually be able to find them. I'm super excited!!!!!

  21. Any people with type 2 diabites had surgery? Started by Heather Meyer, Today, 1:57 AM Heather I saw the title above you posted i said to myself, "are you kidding me?" soooooo many people here unfortunately are diabetic (me, me ) many, many, many people's diabetes improves post diabetes - less insulin, meds but............in my case and many many other sleevers - diabetes is just a horrible "memory" I no longer take medicine for diabetes my high blood pressure is now extinct i've had epilepsy since i was 16 (don't tell anyone, but that was 43 years ago, our secret ok ) maybe an NSV too, since i feel better about myself - i realize theres no reason to be ashamed of an illness i couldn't controll getting I'm almost always controlled with my meds (many people aren't controlled, so i'm lucky) as i was losing weight, my doc reduced my dosage of meds - then by the time i was 105 lbs down - my meds are now cut in half from what i used to take that is an unexpected WONDERFUL NSV its like a baby wouldn't take the same dose as an adult..........or someone who weighs 130 lbs, will take less meds than someone who weighs 235 lbs its like a baby wouldn't take the same dose as an adult..........or someone who weighs 130 lbs, will take less meds than someone who weighs 235 lbs oh dear, i'm talking about myself not you repeating, your diabetes should/will drastically improve - if not disappear your on your way to enjoy a healthier, happier, longer life!!!! enjoy good luck with WLS speedy recovery kathy

    NSV - I went Skydiving

Congrats on skydiving and Happy Birthday! That's a goal I've set for myself too. I had no idea that they actually have you step on a scale!! Yikes. The place I'm going has a max of 225lbs (or you can pay $25 for each pound over that!)...I'm hoping to go once I drop below 200 (about 40 lbs away). Who knows when that will be, but it will happen and it will be a MAJOR NSV for me too.

Warmer Weather, and My spirits are lifting too!

200 Pounds To Lose Is Doable

That was my point, MissMarbe. I hate when the darn scale doesn't move!! I have it in my signature line, I'm an NSV 'ho! That's because I know that how I feel, how my clothes fit, and my fitness ability are way more important than that scale. I've had it sit on the same number for weeks while I've lost 2 inches from my waist. That tells me that the scale is a filthy little liar!
