Tada! I'm at 199.9 this morning! It's about 5 weeks out from surgery. I've lost 22 lbs from my day before surgery weight and 54 lbs. from my nearly all-time high weight in February when I began the pre-op diet. 1/5 of my weight GONE in 4 months!!!! I've been expecting onderland, but it was still a shock to see that 1 at the beginning of the numbers. I'be only been under 200 once before during this millennial, century. last two decades, and it was a brief visit. Within days, I popped back, up in the 200s. The next twenty pounds will bring me to a weight I haven't seen in nearly twenty years and will deposit me firmly in the land of the overweight, not obese. I think that 20 pounds will be when I can really wrap my head around the fact that this time things are going to different and the weight will stay off. I'm still afraid it will pile back on. I alternate fearing I will be stuck eating low-fat lunch-meat and greek yogurt for the rest of my life, with no room for a veg or piece of fruit and fearing that my stomach is not small enough and I will be 220+ again before I know what hit me. I'm going to Celebrate onderland by buying some new workout pants and heading back to the gym on Friday with my trainer. I realize hooking up with a trainer may not sound like much of a celebration to some, but it's a real splurge for me. I'm counting on her help to speed my weight loss and maintain muscle mass to minimize the deflated balloon look as much as possible. I hired a trainer about three years ago because I knew I needed help losing weight and staying fit. I never lost much with the trainer, but I did get more fit and could feel the difference. I can't wait to experience being a healthy size and fit. It's been so long I can't remember how it felt!!! Next stop: Overweight, not obese!! Last time I got there was around 1999 and I used hypnosis. Lynda

As the others have said Greek yogurt has much more protein than regular yogurt... I think Fage is the best, try Fage 2% with half a banana cut into small cubes its really good.

I just had gastric sleeve December 15th . So far so good. My only issue is I’m hungry and it’s the holidays. When can I eat? I’m depressed for texture in my mouth anything soft. I’m tired of protein shakes and broth. I don’t like yogurt, cottage cheese or jello. It’s been 9 days. Can I have eggs, soft fish?

One Source- Active Kids chewable complete (19 Vitamins & Minerals) 1 buy th 120 tablets because of three kids (they get 1/2 tablet till age 4) it has in % Vitamin A 100% Vitamin C 167% Vitamin D 100% (*** this is the only one that concerns me- a fat soluable and it is also in all our calcium -or can't be absorbded and in some types milk & yogurt and too much is bad for a pregnant woman's fetus) I need to do more research but all I found have this much Vitamin E 100% Vitamin K 13% Thiamin 107% Riboflavin 118% Niacin 100% B6 113% b12 133% (Something I am told all weight loss people need) Biotin 15% Panthanoic Acid 100% Calcium 12% (still will require calcium supplement but all vitamins have low calcium- calcium in what ever form it is used in supplement is a huge molecule and that is why the pill is so large) Also 600 mg is all that can be absorbed at one time (sometimes I thik it is lower) Iron 100% Posphorous 5% Magnesium 6% (this should be with the calcium supplement too or it can't be absorbed as well - hence not all antacids work for calcium supplements) zinc 100% Copper 100% Manganese 50% (rest should come in with a goog calcium supplement too) CHromium 17% Molybedium 27% Sodium <1% Total carbs <1g and they don't tast too bad. They are not a generic store brand so if you are priveldged not to have walmart driving all local stores out of busness (but I can't help but go there- I need the prices with kids & self pay and all) the might carry at CVS or other store. But our pediatrition says it the best she has ever seen for a chidlrens chewable (and those are the adult dosage %on the back of the jar) My kids think they taste great. I don't think they are horrible- have a little aftertaste of nutrasweet (to much if you want my opinion) but they are officially designed for munchkins I also don't think they taste bad

SCARLETWITCH, which protein powder do you use in coffee? Like OP, I hate the drinks, and I have to really work to get my protein. All the powders I've tried clump up or taste weird in coffee. I'd love to find one I could use daily. I found RTD Protein Shakes tend to make better creamers since they don't clump. I use Premier vanilla or chocolate, depending on what flavor mood I'm in. I also use hazelnut, caramel, and Irish cream torani syrups to make more of a cappuccino/latte drink. I use PB2, vanilla, banana, piña colada and lime protein powders to flavor plain Greek yogurt to boost the protein level even more. I also add unflavored protein powder to every Soup, casserole, and baked goods I make. Drink dairy milk instead of almond milk because it has a lot more protein. Have you tried the Syntrax nectar powders? They are more like koolaid rather than a milkshake so you may like them better. Quest bars have 20g protein. -

So I've learned a few things about snacking lately, six years into my journey. I've always been a 3meals, no Snacks kinda dieter, only becuase once I start to snack, I really have trouble stopping. That's because I snack on snack foods, d'oh. Simple, evil, white carbs that leave you wanting more, so you suddenly decide stuff it, I've had 2 Cookies, now I'm gonna eat the rest of the packet. Recently I had an ileostomy reversal, so that now my colon is doing its job again and after nine months, I'm back to doing number 2's the regular way. This is not an easy surgery and it takes a long long time for the body to recover and adjust, I have no rectum anymore. What I've found is that my insides are just so messed up through chemotherapy, radiation and havign to adjust to working again that I simply cannot even think about eating a regular sized meal - even a regular sized bandster meal. First up, I was forced to live on white carbs - white bread, rice, Pasta, mashed potato, rice bubbles and other cereals were all I could manage, with some chicken, tuna etc and I couldnt even think about fruit and veg and yeah, I actually had trouble keeping my weight stable despite eating hardly anything - those foods pack the fat on faster than you can blink. So now I've managed to transition to healthier foods again, but in order to avoid awful bouts of gas, bloating, flatulence that would fell a horse and diarrhoea/urgency, I need to eat six small mini meals, rather than anything approaching a normal sized meal. What I've found is that it is MUCH easier to not overeat, with this constant input, I'm having trouble reaching 1200 calories a day! I'm a bit gobsmacked, but I guess the moral of the story is that if you're a snacker and want to eat this way - then you need to abandon the idea of "meals". For me, Breakfast, lunch and dinner would be too large to allow the calories for snacks as well even though I mean large by bandster definitions. So, I had a half a cup of greek yogurt with a few teaspoons of muesli for breakfast - a teeny serve of nuts and dried fruit at mid morning - a small tin of tuna, 4 crackers and some sliced cucumber for lunch, I'm planning a puree apple snackpack and babybel cheese for the afternoon and then I have whatever the family's having for dinner, but just the amount that will fit on a saucer. There's not a cookie or traditional "snack" to be seen in that plan, which is how it needs to be for me, nor is there really a "meal" which I define as containing some sort of carbohydrate. If you can do that, snacking's great. If you still want "meals" and simply add snacks, then its not so great. -
My menu: 4 oz of yogurt with 2 tbls granola lunch 4 oz of yogurt with granola snack 1/2 green apple with 1 tbls penut butter dinner 3 oz chicken breast rice - about 1/2 cup Then 1 slice of plain cheesecake - no, it wasn't sugar free Exercise - 20 min of HIIT on the elliptical machine, burned 200 calories, 1.7 miles All in all, I did pretty good besides the cheesecake. What happened here, let me explain myself, I had a single friend of ours over for dinner because I made too much food. (I always think about the single men since they don't have a wife at home cooking for them), anyhow, he felt obligated to bring a dessert - even though I told him not to, he still brought a cheesecake factory cheesecake. So, I felt obligated to have a slice. I should have just eaten 1/2 slice - but no, I ate the whole darned slice. Anyhow, after eating the cheesecake, I headed to the gym and worked off 200 calories. Scale in the am stated I weighed 183 - arggg, sucks~ I will see the number go down, I will, I will. I'm determined! I'm not giving up, I must see the 160 again, soon! I have 100 days or so left until my cruise, I refuse to go weighing what I do now. I want to look halfway decent in my bathing suit you know. Well, I will start checking in more on my journal and updating my menu. This seems to keep me on track better.

i was in the same position. I had rny on 4/16. I weighed 300 starting out and stalled 2 months out just under the 50lb mark. I yo-yo'd between 252 and 256 losing and gaining the same weight for 4 weeks. Today I finally broke through to 249 after weighing 252 yesterday. Finally hit my 50lb goal! I started stalling right after I started my exercise program. I don't know if I can call it an official stall because I believe I lost inches; although, I did not measure. I have had a cold for the last few days, so I am not sure if that had anything to do with my weight loss. I have continued to monitor my food intake and exercise on my fitness pal. I have added more Protein to my diet by eating every 2-3 hours. Before I only ate the three meals and a Protein shake. This met my requirement of 60-80 grams of protein a day. I consume more protein now with the two Snacks being either a piece of chicken or a greek yogurt. I hope to see the scale continue to move down.

Almost a year out and still get it on a regular basis. Kind of depends on what I eat. For whatever reason things like yogurt tend to make the most noise. Doesn't stick around for a long but in a quiet office it stands out...lol

Tony, I do understand where you are coming from. A couple of days ago, I was at Marble Slab Creamery with my 9 year old. This very obese woman was having trouble to pick out what kind of icecream cone she wanted. After 5 minutes of sampling pretty much everything in the store, she offered to let my son and I go before her cause we knew what we wanted. They have a sugar free fat free chocolate yogurt that has about 100 calories for a 5 oz serving. This was a treat for my son and I after I finished an hour workout at the gym. My son who has a weight problem (post meds for anxiety) wanted to have marshmellows on top. I told him no because marshmellows have lots of calories and its ok to have a treat but he doesnt need to eat the marshmellows as well. The obese lady was listening to our conversation, but I think subconciously I was directing this conversation her way too. I was a little angry at her because even at my highest weight, I dont recall ever going to an icecream shop and ordering the largest waffle cone with about 16 oz of icecream, so I guess I couldnt understand why she couldnt see the joy in just having a small portion. IN the end, she ordered two very large cones and walked out and I felt bad cause the only way I got morbidly obese was because I ate too much so I shouldnt be so harsh to judge her the way I did. But honestly, I just couldnt help it. I was torn between wanting to help her and shaking her so she could see the light! It was a confusing moment for me, but its clear that I have a lot of mental work to do on this front. I still see obesity as a sign of weakness despite my intellectual side knowing better. I need to examine these feelings a little more...... Babs in TX 334/184/170 -150

Has anyone experienced a problem with "crashing" after eating in the morning or at any other times during the day? I find that since my fill on Monday... When I eat solid food in the AM it is followed by what I imagine is a bloodsugar drop with shaking...sweating... weakness and a generalized "I feel like Jello" sensation. THis usually happens within 10-15 minutes after eating. The first two times it happened I had FF/SF yogurt mixed with a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese and this morning it happend in a milder form after having 3 bites of scrammbled eggs and cheese. I'm not really terribly concerned... I just find it interesting and a bit odd and I'm wondering if anybody else has experienced this?

Glad to hear my soup idea didn't turn any tummies! I have to wait at least an hour after waking up, because I take a medication that requires it. But after serving the kids their breakfast my tummy is usually starting to rumble. I could easily wait until I get to work to eat, but I don't know how a morning soup would go over with my colleagues. I've tried cottage cheese, but surprisingly, it (like scrambled eggs) doesn't go down easily at all. And yogurt has the same problem as Protein drinks--too sweet. Tomorrow I think I'll try soup before leaving the house and see how long that lasts. lunch is at noon at my office, and I can barely make it until then if I've had only a small breakfast. Thanks!

Thanks all for the well wishes, I had it yesterday and everything went absloutely perfectly. And just for the record, because I've had a few replies like this, I know why the pre-op diet is so important which is why I was flipping out for having slipped up. Just like I said, it's like when I used to smoke and I KNEW that the cigarette was bad for me, but somehow I still made the decision to have one--a common problem, I understand. I'm happy to report that that one cup of Soup was my only non-clear liquids for 7 days and I told the nurse and nutritionist about it and they weren't concerned, but told me to get back on "the wagon". I lost somewhere between 10 and 16 lbs on that starvation diet (using three different scales so there's no way of really knowing). I'm now on full liquids for two weeks and couldn't be happier. Yay soup, applesauce and yogurt! I will never for the life of me understand how people can complain about a full liquid preop diet

Here is the recipe for Ricotta Bake (may be the same one you have above - I cannot see it). Also some other good ideas. http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/08/pureed-foods.html I ate a lot of fat free refried Beans with cheese melted on top; hummus (yes just with a spoon); Pimento Cheese spread; Laughing Cow cheese wedges; sugar free pudding with 1/2 scoop Protein Powder mixed in; Dannon Light & Fit Greek Yogurt (Key Lime and strawberry Cheesecake are my favorites) with 1/2 scoop Protein powder mixed in....

Goodness, I can go days without even noticing how or what I am eating and then wham, the restriction is intense and that knot in my stomach feeling is there again. Not Complaining as I am glad it is still there but man I didn't enjoy that feeling the first several months. I still get a kick out if eating a yogurt cup and knowing my stomach can't/won't hold another bite.

My friend and I had surgery the same day but...
FabFemale replied to FabFemale's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks everyone! She doesn't read about the surgery, doesn't watch any videos and isn't on this forum. I honestly dont think she could have gotten this far without me. But you are right. I'm focusing on myself. It's my journey and I plan on being successful!! I mentioned that frozen yogurt even though sugar free wasn't a good choice and she didn't know why. I can't keep trying to educate her. I'll just educate by being an example of how to do this right. My time as a caterpillar has expired. My wings are ready! -
I start my pre op diet tomorrow and just had some questions that hopefully ya can answer 1. Can I take appetite suppressant so that way I don't over eat? 2. I have heard several people saying they have two Protein shakes and then a meal, what does the meal look like? 3. Are weight watcher items ok to have? For example I bought some Protein Bars from them? 4. What about yogurt which would you recommend? 5. Can I have progressive Soup? 6. I know I should of already started my Vitamins, I will be buying them today, so which ones should I get? Thank you so much for taking the time to answer. I am just so lost and don't want to mess anything up for my surgery date.

I am one week and 2 days post sleeve. If I didn't physically see the incision marks, I would swear nothing was changed. Yes, my appetite has lessened but I find myself being able to eat more than I should. I can eat about 1/4 c of Greek yogurt or about 1/2 can of ff cream of chicken soup without feeling like I'm full. Is this average? Last night when everyone had pizza I ate abou1/4 of ricotta with 2tbsp of tomato sauce, went down fine no issues, really wanted the pizza though. I can also gulp water down no issue. Should I be worried?

Hi. I eat whole grain breads - I prefer those made at Panera or Atlanta Bread. Generally, I ditch the soft bread part and eat the crust. Sometimes toasted works OK. Also, I mix wheat germ into my yogurt and have added ground flax seed to my protein shakes. Steph

PostOp Diet... what can I have?
gaudjosl replied to mrsaizsha_101's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pudding is my fav lol. I am on day 8 as surgery was Oct 16. I have oatmeal and creamy soups with mushed carrots. I'll do rutabaga tomorrow. Greek yogurt I tried again today. It has been giving me the runs. Trying to balance getting 60 to 80 grams of protein ( seems impossible) and drinking water. I love this sleeve! -
PostOp Diet... what can I have?
smiley922 replied to mrsaizsha_101's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on the 14th, and at this time I am allowed full liquids, which includes low fat creamy Soups, and yogurt with no fruit added, no pulp etc, with under 10 carbs per serving. same goes for the Protein drinks, under 10 carbs per serving, I have been using Premier Protein. This goes for 2 weeks post surgery, at the beginning of the third week, I can add the pureed foods, grits, 1 egg, refried Beans, with protein added. see if the NUT can email you your plan so you don't damage your pouch. -
I, too, did not care for the Greek yogurt at all. I've heard that smell is 95% of taste ... and this smells awful.

bariatric foodie has some easy recipe. I highly recommend ricotta bake (google "eggface ricotta bake") - super easy and tasty. Sometimes I add some sauteed spinach or a spoon of pesto. If you like shrimp, it is super easy and tasty. Defrost a few, add a bit of oil or butter to a pan over medium heat, and saute for a few minutes until they're pink. You can add some spices. I like cajun seasoning (if you can deal with heat), or italian seasoning. Added: this is super easy, don't even need to defrost the fish: https://www.bariatricfoodie.com/one-pan-cooking-tilapia-fire-roasted-tomato-sauce/ But, one fish fillet will serve me three times, and I don't eat thawed fish more than two days after it thaws, so I often have to toss some fish. Also really like egg salad - just 2 hard boiled eggs, masked with either a bit of ripe avocado or 1 TBL mayo and 1 TBL greek yogurt.
