    3 months post op

I am in the same boat as you Amber. I am three months out and I am only 30 lbs. Everyone tells me to up my protein, water and exercise. I'm trying very hard. I'm focusing on the nsv. I was only expected to lose 70lbs so I guess I am almost half way there. I am content when I look at it that way. It is difficult accepting that I'm a slow loser sometime.

    The most AMAZING NSV!!!

    Congrats !!!!! Great Nsv !!!
  3. ok--so I went to the bank this morning--(I live in a small town where everyone knows I had VSG) and the girls working in there start telling me that my clothes are way too baggy and that they look bad. Now, this is a little bit NSV and a little concerning. Concerning because I don't feel like I am ready for tighter clothes yet. I have spent the last 20 years making sure that my clothes covered everything and were never tight on me--the less skin they actually touched the better. Elastic waist and VERY long shirts have been normal for me. A friend called me the other day and told me she had a bunch of clothes for me so I went and got them and they all fit--but they are tight--not tight like they are too small--but tight like in style--I just can't see myself wearing them right now I have went from a tight size 24 to a nice fitting 14/16 in two months so I am happy about that--I am just a little worried about when will my head catch up with my body? I keep thinking that no one will even be able to notice that I have lost weight and am surprised when someone says something about it. Just wondering how long till your mind knows you are thinner???

    Kind of funny NSV

Congrats on the NSV! I had one today too. I have a pic of me and some co-workers on my desk. A student was in my office and said "Who's that lady in the middle?" I said "it's me!" He said "I couldn't tell!" Of course I was 80 pounds heavier in the photo, so that was nice!

    Kind of funny NSV

Thats great! I have been having quite a few NSV lately too! I was creaping into a size 20 pants before my surgery and just went shopping. I took a pair of 16 and 18 (just in case) and the 16 fit perfect! I did a happy dance in the dressing room, now how often does that happen!?!?! Another NSV that I have is crossing my legs and pulling my legs up on my chair, I haven't been able to do that in a long time! What other NSV are you all celebrating!:whoo:

    What is NSV

    Another NSV?

That is a spectacular NSV. I experienced the same thing when I flew last month. It's not minor at all, it's a massive success. Congrats!
  8. My "cookie" substitute was Protein balls that taste like Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. I took peanut butter and chocolate protein powder and mixed it up until real smooth. I rolled it into balls the size of walnuts. One, sometimes two was more than enough to take off the edge of hunger. Just don't forget that peanut butter has calories and you wouldn't want to go crazy with this. My liquid diet included bone broth, which was basically homemade vegetable soup with meat on the bone, and vegetables. Boyfriend ate the veggies and meat. I drank the broth. My preferred brand for shake mix was Syntrax Nectars. My favorite was the grapefruit because when I mixed up with Crystal Lite Lemonade it tasted like Fresca soda. They have a lot of flavors. I waaaaay overbought and took about 18 months to use it up. Right now I have on hand Syntrax Matrix Vanilla, Syntrax Matrix Chocolate Mint (tastes like a Peppermint Patty) and Core Athlete pumpkin Spice......OMG it's actually good! I used the unflavored in soups. My Vitamin is a generic brand from Walgreens, labeled for women over 50. My labs are fine. My goal outfit is just a few pounds from fitting. I bought white skinny jeans and a Vera Wang silk blouse. I have never in my life bought clothes of any quality. Vera was my first. I also ditched the white granny panties and Walmart $6 bras for good quality girly things that match. I felt a difference in my weight at 30 pounds down, and that is when my primary noticed a difference in my face and skin tone. People around me noticed a difference around 50 pounds down. At 65 pounds down I had an appointment with my pain specialist whom I had not seen since pre-op. He did not recognize me and when he and his nurses were doing their pre-procedure "time out", he said "Are your SURE we have the right patient on the table." I cracked up. Total NSV!
  9. Prior to surgery, I was at Ikea. Right by the checkout there was a display of simple kid's step stools, made of a molded white plastic. I'm a shorty, so I grabbed one and bought it. When I got home, I showed it to my husband, and started to stand on it. It started to bend! LOL - how embarrassing, I was to heavy for that kid's stool. I never did finish putting my weight on it because it was going to collapse. I put it in the closet. Last night, I was looking through the closet and came across the stool. I pulled it out and cautiously put my weight on it. It did NOT collapse. I can now use the kid's step stool. YAY! I'd post a picture of this amazing feat, but I need a pedicure. ha.
  10. Last weekend we attended a party for a cousin's child. (See photos in A Chance to Compare.) Last night I got an e-mail from my uncle, who has long been a beloved figure in our lives but whom we only get to see twice a year or so. Since my dad died in 1994 this uncle has served in loco parentis when needed. He said, essentially, that he was sorry he hadn't had a chance to compliment me on how I looked at the party. He said: "I gather you've reached your objective." I was stunned, but realize that he hasn't seen me at this weight, well, ever. So that was pretty cool right there. But I wrote back and told him that while I have reached AN objective I'm not done losing weight and hope to lose another 60 or so. He said: "I'm very proud of you." Sniff.
  11. Men and women lose weight at different rates. I am 1 year out and have had many stalls. The key is to change it up food & exercise wise. I am in the green zone. I use to lose 2 lbs/ wk. Now that i am closer to goal i lose .5 lbs/wk. I eat 1200 cals and workout 1-2 hrs/day. I feel amazing! I am down 108 lbs and a size 8 from a 24. Keep your eye on the prize & celibrate the NSV's! Good luck all!

Wow... I never saw this coming!

Okay, great NSV!!! It's put me back on track...my whole goal is to be "normal" and I'm so not there yet. My emotional habits are fighting me right now. But, reading this helps!

    VSG on 4/16/18: My journey

Small NSV: I have never been able to wear this tank that I got as a gift from my boyfriend, because my belly was too big. It doesn’t fit perfectly yet, but I will be able to wear it to the gym by football season!

    NSV happy!!!

To all who have already responded.....WOOHOO!! Congrats to everyone of us who took that BIG step towards a healthier version of us! I too have had loads of fun watching the clothing numbers diminish. My newest NSV with clothes has come at the expense of a few haters called coworkers....I just placed my order for new uniforms; getting new tops in a large/new bottoms in a medium; at the start of this journey, I wore a TIGHT 2xl top and 2xl bottom. 1 month post surgery, I began receiving mean spirited comments about my uniforms not fitting-funny thing was hardly anyone said "OMG, your uniforms are too big", I just kept hearing behind my back that my uniforms looked a hot mess. Ordered new ones in a smaller size (xl tops/large bottoms). As long as the new ones were fitting a little snug, I got the "Looking good with the wt. loss" comments. Now, those are too big, and once again, the haters roared. While there were a few nice words said, many comments were negative. When I receive my LARGE tops and MEDIUM bottoms, I'll get the "nice" comments again, lol. I think the reason I have the dummies saying directly to ne is because actually talking to me will allow me to tell them where to go. I'm so happy we can talk about the NSVs instead of what kind of crap we are putting in our bodies. This wls has shown us there is definitely more to life than food, and for that I'M EXTREMELY GRATEFUL!!! Sent from my SM-G935P using BariatricPal mobile app
  17. I was putting together a digital photo album from a trip I took to Ireland in October. I started to get frustrated because my friend had taken this great picture, but some skinny woman was standing in the middle of it, ruining the shot. I looked at the picture at least five times before I realized the skinny woman ruining my picture was ME! LOL.

    A Wonderful Nsv

 I had to share a great story about my 16 year old daughter. Let me start by saying that she was very nervous and against the surgery from the start. We have a few friends who had gastric bypass and have had major issues ever since. So she was afraid that lapband would cause some of the same issues. Even after all the information and talking it didn't ease her mind. But I did what I thought was best for ME. I was banded in June 06. To date I have lost 54 pounds. Slow but I am ok with that. This morning I took her to school and she gets out of the car and hands me this note and said dont read it til you leave. I waited til she walked away and pulled into a spot to read the letter.:kiss OMG, I sat in the parking lot of her high school with tears in my eyes. This is the letter:  Mom, I want to let you know that I am really proud of you. You've done so much for everyone else, it's nice to see you doing something for yourself. I've noticed a big difference in you since June. You are more confident and you've lost alot of weight. Even when times got hard with this & after everything everyone has said you kept going and you have succeeded greatly. I also want to say I love you and no matter what I believe in you!!! You look great and I am proud of you!! Let me just tell you even though others have told me the same things Nothing means more than hearing it come from her. Thanks for letting me share.
  21. A lady I hadn't seen in a while was surprised at my weight loss. She said I looked great. I told her I had 20 lbs to go and she couldn't believe it. It was nice to hear. Of course she didn't see all the fat under the clothes. Lol.

    NSV

@@csawesome - the NSVs are THE best in my book. I love the scale moving, because I am a scale junkie, but I REALLY love the NSVs! Did you measure yourself? A lot do, I didn't, but I do have a pair of shorts that I was wearing that were tight pre-WLS.

    NSV

Despite my scale going up by three pounds this week, today my regular pants wouldn't stay up. I put on jeans that were too small when I bought them three years ago. From a 26w presurgery to 22 (with a small waist) a little over 2 weeks post op. Embrassing the stall. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

    NSV

I had three NSV last week. A shirt I ordered deliberately too small fit, my work clothes are too large now and don't need safety pins to hold the shirt closed, and my jeans that I'd bought 2 years ago and barely fit then, now require a belt. I'd thought after being sleeved 3/1 that I'd be further than 37 lbs down (especially after losing 28 the first week)... But these NSV's are keeping me going for now. Sent from my iPhone
