Any updates for 4 months out sleevers?

I think clothes sizes have expanded since I weighed 170 17 years ago? I was a size 10 at 170 lbs. Today I put on a size 12 old Navy pair of jeans (snug but comfortable) at 212 lbs. (which is 60 lbs down today, WOOT!!). I know it won't take me 52 lbs to get from size 12 to size 10. This is weird. I'll be a size 6 at 170# at this rate...

  6. I think what a lot of us forget is hunger pains and hunger are not the same. One is fueled directly by hunger the other is likely thirst. When I feel hunger pains, I start to drink water and within 5 - 10 minutes my hunger has disappeared. If I can drink 20 oz of water within 3 hours of getting up - I am less hungry throughout the day. Add 40 oz and I'm barely hungry. I also keep a canister of mixed nuts near my office desk, if I feel like the water hasn't satisfied my hunger I take 4 - 6 nuts and eat them slowly. My hunger immediately goes away until I'm ready for my next actual meal. At home I substitute a spoonful of peanut butter or cottage cheese (whichever is in stock).

How’s the taste of that particular brand. My surgery date is 10/24 and can’t seem to find one I really like. Have you tried the grass fed protein Ones?
  8. Surgery is scheduled for 10/29. I call my insurance daily. I'm thankful bariatric surgery is in my plan. The requirements are still daunting. What requirements did people find helpful and/or unnecessary?

  10. Hello, I am so frustrated I could cry, I have been waiting for a call back from my surgeons office . I had the appointment for the orientation and with the surgeon on 10 Sept. The nurse told me the person who would put in my referrals and who would let me know everything that I need to do has literally ignored my phone calls . I say this because when I called her from another number over a week ago she answered and tried to blow me off, but I kept her on the phone she told me the Dr. hadn't done the note and that she couldn't do what she need to do until she knew what he wanted. I felt like that was a BIG FAT LIE. I knew she was leaving soon , so I called Friday 28 Sept and the voice mail had the new ladies voice so today is Monday called her back and it went to voice mail again. This is so frustrating I don't know if the old person trained the new person not to answer the phone and to just check the messages and call back the patient, but I will see if she calls by the end of the day. But I did call the office manager on my lunch break ande it went to her voice mail , but they did say that she could be at lunch. I will see how long it takes her to call me back. I could be being a LITTLE inpatient . Tell me what do you think or what would you do . This is Basically a rant:(

How are our October 1 sleevers doing? Tomorrow's folks - @bmatt418, @cindy t, @Deanayeah, @Lizzieming, @Marla522, @nikoleroze, @Oct517 - are you ready? Best of luck to you all! Check in when you can! I'm one of the October 3 folks, and I won't do my post-surgery check-in before I get home on (here's hoping) the 4th--I use these forums through the browser, not the app. I also won't update the list of surgery buddies for a couple of days, so if someone else wants to, feel free? But I'll scroll back and add people, once I'm up to it, so no worries. Here's the list as it stands now, so you can all find and befriend your surgery buddies! ❤️ Oct 1: aapb79Gmail.com chicagogirl74 chuckwalsh clara1900 cw19147 irishgal21 JennieJuniper momofmjbm Red Alicia Yare_2018 Oct 2: bmatt418 cindy t Deanayeah Lizzieming Marla522 nikoleroze Oct517 Oct 3: boringtessa crankymagpie LosingLbs18 mamadownsizing sekud02 Oct 4: AriesMary25 btrfly kerbear1980 mspink702 rnchaveri1 sleevemebaby7781 swisskath Oct 5: rafc100 Suesloosinit Oct 8: Crystalmartin82 jhojho90 Oct 9: bigcurt emccomis mailchickie76 Oct 10: busyforever fandangle MeeAhhh oct102018 Oct 11: aussie Ange healthygirl05 kathy060464 UncleBeezy willowfinely Oct 12: afer0841 zpratt Oct 14: katiemarie22 Oct 15: allyb15 annaisbananas April1965 JessLess MegsNiko (or maybe the 17th?) recreating_courtney Tina6769 Oct 16: 2shea beccaconaty87 br3n Thisismytime Wincy Oct 17: Chello219 Grapefruit JustKeepSwimming OpsMatt Oct 18: shazz73 Oct 22: clb164 kimberlymi laceco marciamae3474 Oct 23: kdiddle31 mimi tahoegirl96118 Oct 24: Beachladee3 GirlShrinking tuttlemomma Oct 25: AndreaK. kiwiangel23 Oct 26: carebear38 shany1567 Oct 29: 1BigHeart jflower88 Kai91 kjallen nedawson1908 Rgiannos Oct 30: sleevegirl88 Oct 31: relaxrelaterelease

My surgery date is 10/15/18 - the day before my 25th wedding anniversary. I am extremely excited, but nervous. I have had major surgery before, so not really worried about the surgery itself, I just don't want to let myself down.

  16. I'm about 1 1/2 years out from surgery. I feel that I was well prepared about the actual surgery and eating during each stage for the most part. I always planned on changing my lifestyle to include exercise but it never dawned on me I would become the girl lifting weights, building strength and looking for muscles under my droopy skin. The last 10 lbs have not come off easily even with vigorous exercise, strength training and conditioning. I know I am stronger, leaner and have good cardio stamina for someone my age. I know I have more muscle than when I started but I have no idea what I should be eating to maintain or lose that last 10 lbs of fat while building MORE muscle. In short, I'd love to see nutrition programs specifically for bariatric patients and our inability to ingest large meals at one sitting that allow for muscle building along with the typical maintenance programs. I hope that makes some sense! I wish you much success with your studies! Keep us posted on what area you decide to focus on.
  17. Lol, thanks! I figure this is what my life is, and I just have to make it work the best I can. But I have to be realistic. It won't be all grilled chicken and cucumbers. I'm relaxing a bit with my goal weight honestly. I was hyper focused in part because I wanted to have plastics next month. But then work interfered with that plan. So I don't HAVE to be at my target weight by any particular time. I might see if I can split up the plastics I want into 2 surgeries. I might do tummy and boobs at the end of the year, maybe? So hard to carve out the few weeks I'll need at home to recover. And then a have a big vacay in early Feb, so I need to be 100% for that. I'm also feeling more relaxed because I'm happy with how I look in clothes. I'm a 10 in jeans and slacks, I'm mostly a medium in work shirts. I'm a large in fitted t shirts. I like my curves. My tummy can be held in by tight fitting pants or compression garments. I'm coming around a bit on how I look naked too. I still don't like it, but I have a new man who's providing plenty of positive feedback, so there's that. Who knows, next week I might be all angst-y about it again
  18. Ok, time for 1 month updates for me!!! Wooohooooo and what a month it's been!!! Spectacular--even with the cold thing!!! I finally feel like my mojo's back and I'm groovin' on a sunny afternoon!! Here are the stats: 09.03.18 Weight | 10.01.18 Weight 166.4lbs | 156.0lbs (-10.4lbs) 08.20.18 Measurements | 09.20.18 Measurements | -5.75inches lost Chest 39.5 | 39 | -.5 Waist 32.5 | 31 | -1.5 Hips 41.5 | 41 | -.5 Neck 13.5 | 13 | -.5 Right Thigh 22 | 21 | -1 Left Thigh 22 | 21 | -1 Right Arm 11 | 10.75 | -.25 Left Arm (Lymphedema from cancer) 12.5 | 12 | -.5 So in conclusion, I lost 10.4lbs and 5.75inches this month through my intermittent fasting and intermittent calorie restriction diet plan. Eating low carb mostly (85-90% of the time)? I pretty effortlessly lived life without dietary angst, cravings, or denial. I ate when hungry and didn't eat when my hunger cues were skewed or inappropriate. I ate tons of healthy foods too--maxing veggies and small amounts of low glycemic fruits and my motivation is back!!! This is huge, cuz I felt like I was floundering for the past 2 months--and felt like I would never reach goal. So let's give you some numbers: Average Calories and Macros with Associated Weight Loss: With IF September 01-30, 2018 Averages: -11lbs | 804 Calories | 60g Protein | 43g Fat | 43g Carbs | 7g Fiber | 36g Net Carbs Without IF August 01-31, 2018 Averages: -2.8lbs | 835 Calories | 71g Protein | 37g Fat | 42g Carbs | 9g Fiber | 32g Net Carbs July 01-31, 2018 Averages: -4lbs | 816 Calories | 73g Protein | 39g Fat | 44g Carbs | 8g Fiber | 36g Net Carbs June 01-30, 2018 Averages: -10.2lbs | 685 Calories | 64g Protein | 30g Fat | 36g Carbs | 8g Fiber | 27g Net Carbs Well, I'm 6lbs away from my first goal of 150lbs. I know I can do it and my goal is to reach and exceed that by the end of October. Then I will be off to my 2nd goal--to be in the "normal weight bracket" of anything lower than 145lbs. I "think" I can do that too. But right now, I'm just focusing on taking steps to reduce systemic inflammation and insulin resistance through lifestyle changes and getting to 150lbs! Oh and today is a fasting day. I'm going for a 23 hour fast--will eat at 7pm and try to keep my cals to around 500 for the day. Here's my Month-to-Month so far. (click to enlarge)

    OCTOBER SLEEVERS CHECK IN HERE

For me, I don’t have a follow up until later this month. After my 1 year mark. I see my original surgeon on October 25th and the nutritionist, October 22nd. I was sleeved 10/17/17. When I started my weight loss journey 2 1/2 (1/1/16) years ago I was 350. I was 260 the day of surgery and of of my weight right now is 196.2 lbs. (Monday morning weigh in) Overall I am happy with my weight loss. I think I lost more in the way of inches than weight after the surgery. I was diabetic and stopped my meds 10/7/17 and haven’t needed them since. I was taken off 1 of my 2 high blood pressure pills and 1 of 2 high cholesterol meds. Some of my meds need a dosage change, and that will be from the blood work before I see the surgeon. I have had horrible reflux and it can be so horribly bad at times, but I had bad reflux before surgery. Before and now size 28 which in reality was probably a 32 (gotta be places like Lane Bryant and Woman Within, who have a very generous cut) to a size 16. Some a size 14. My only 3 issues is my boobs are gone, Mostly just skin now, my turkey neck and my belly button is wayyyy low and gets infected a lot from no air. There will always be issues but the good far out weighs the bad. The 1st set of 3 pics are 1, left at my highest, 350, 2nd one before surgery at 260, 3rd is new year 2018 at 225, and the other pic. Is now at 196 taken last week. I don’t even look or even feel like the same person.

    Day 2 Post Op

I was there and could get it together. I would barely walk. Day three for me was so much better. I was able to walk and move around although swallowing was challenging. For the first two days I had extreme nausea so couldn’t take oral pills well, but when it clicked, it clicked. Tips: - try colder water (iced), room temp made me nauseous (still do); - try sleeping on your left side. Doing this helped me move gas - have hot tea; changed how I felt immediately I felt terrible and was in surprisingly worse shape than anyone expected in the hospital, but today is 10 days out and I feel pretty good. Good luck friend. @me if you need to chat.
