    Update after surgery

Trix, congrats girl! I am glad that you are in such high spirits - and I hope it stays that way. Good luck with your weight loss - gotta love the NSV's (I am not a scale person either). :cheer2:

OMG... I am so happy Christmas NSV

Congratulations on all your NSV...whatever the heck that is, although I get the idea.

OMG... I am so happy Christmas NSV

With my NSV yesterday, I get to hopefully have another soon. My sil gave me some clothes today that she doesn't think she will ever be able to wear. Most are from Chico I think the store was, and they were sized different. 1.5, 2, 2.5, not sure how they translate, but right now they are still too small. I will take them home from me when we go next weekend, and hopefully by my next goal which is a 14 by Valentines day, they will fit. Tomorrow should be real interesting day for me, I have not seen my best friend from high school since 2003, now that we are in TN and only 1 1/2 hours away from her, my 18yo and I are going tomorrow to stay with her for the night. Last picture I have of us together is from 2003 and wow was I big, but we were the same size. I know she is the same size as back then, and having health issues. She works for a dr office, and I am praying that she takes the step, if she is ready, to get the band and let it work for her also.

    Whats Wrong With This Band?

Plateaus are a normal part of the weight loss journey. You may find that mixing up your diet and/or exercise routine will get your scales moving again. In the meantime, take a moment to notice whether your clothes are feeling looser, or maybe your knees ache less than before, or perhaps you are climbing that flight of stairs without getting puffed. These are NSVs (non-scale victories) and they are just as important as seeing the numbers move on the scales.

What are some of your NSV

Having to move the car seat closer to the steering wheel was a big NSV for me! Also a big thrill for me was being able to fit into a pair of victorias secret "pink" brand panties.

What are some of your NSV

OMG AUbrie reminded me biggest NSV of all NOT SNORING! My husband doesn't get so mad at me that I kept him up all night with snoring!
  9. So this past week has been an emotional one for me and a major accomplishment. The other morning around 5am I woke up and decided to weigh myself, I'm now in onederland. I so wanted to run thru the streets yelling and cheering like I won the lotto. Needless to say I woke up my hubby crying and he was ecstatic as well, we were up for the day from that point on. I'm now down to 197 and truly amazed at how fast the weight is coming off. I've bumped up my work outs to everyday and even lifting weights everyday. My arms which were sagging bad and I was getting highly self conscious, they are now starting to tone and I'm actually getting biceps that are visible . I'm working out like crazy only because the results keep me going, hubby says thats my new addiction (I'm not complaining). Plus I have a cute lil black dress I want to wear soon, hee hee. On Tuesday I climbed Mt. Rubidoux, for those of you who don't know its a mountain in Riverside, Ca. It's 3.5 miles up and 3.5 miles back. It's a wonderful feeling and a beautiful sight from the top. My biggest goals were met in one week and I still get emotional talking about it but man I couldn't of done this without my wonderful sleeve. I would do it all over again and if you are un-decided get it done, you will not be disappointed. Now to the bummer part, my computer crashed at home and I can't post any pictures. I can only access this website from work and today is he only day I'm working because I'm off to Vegas baby!!!! So for pictures or updates check out my facebook, I update that allday long from my phone.
  10. Wow, I think this is one of the best "NSVs" I've ever heard!

Little things you never would of done.

That is an amazing NSV. Thank goodness for the surgery which helped you get to this point! I think you look beautiful so it is so hard for me to imagine you being ashamed of how you looked.
  12. So I have recently gotten under 250 and tonight I had a NSV that I've just got to share. I'm a high school teacher and volunteered to work at prom this Saturday. I decided that I wanted something new to wear. My sis and I went dress shopping and the dress I ended up with is a size 16W. I know it's a women's size 16 but a 16 none the less. I haven't worn a 16 in years. So happy! . Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. Since I've hit an 8/10 size-wise, DH has been letting me shop a lot... my favorite place EVER is Ann Taylor. I couldn't wear their clothes before, and when I was a 12 or 14, the salespeople didn't give me the time of day. Well, they do now. A couple weeks ago, we did some major damage at one of the stores, and DH found a dress that he just HAD to have for me. A nice wool dress, fully lined, VERY fitted. They didn't have my size, so he found one at another store. I went there to pick it up and was shopping for a sweater to match another skirt I'd purchased earlier. A salesperson was making recommendations, and found something I liked. She looked at me, up and down and said, "You're a medium, right?" Well, YES, I am... and somebody from snooty Ann Taylor noticed! Praise be to God! I just had to share...

    favorite NSV's/most anticipated NSV's

My favorite thing, above people saying I look better or seeing the numbers, is all the NSV you appreciate when you are so big that the little things become unbearably awkward. Car seatbelts fitting (especially where the cars yell at you when it’s not buckled). Flying without feeling mortified or getting a 2nd seat (haven’t done this yet, I was still nervous about my flight in November so I still got an extra seat – we’ll see how it goes). Not feeling like a beached whale when trying to roll out of bed. I won't get too TMI, but anyone who was at the point I was might understand when I talk about just general bathroom and bathing issues. Not constantly fearing that I’ll break every chair you sit in. I mean, really, Seating could be an entire NSV for me all on its own. Chairs, cars, airplanes, toilets, the booth/table issue, etc. Still looking forward to: Not shopping from online or Catherine’s. I’m just now getting to the point where Lane Bryant will fit me. Roller coaster rides. Taking up running. I was getting to the point where my mobility was severely impaired. I felt like I was dying walking from my office to my car, and I would leave later or earlier than my coworkers just to avoid them seeing how bad it was (though they knew). The freedom that comes from being able to want to do something or somewhere and actually doing it is the greatest thing in the world. I say “yes” to so many more activities now because I don’t have to worry about not being able to walk the distances required or fit in the seats that are there.

    favorite NSV's/most anticipated NSV's

i started as a man standing 5'6" weighing 373lbs, wearing a 56 inch waist jeans and a 5-6x shirt. now, i'm still 5'6" (a nurse measured me at 5'6.5" and i laughed saying my spine must have decompressed) i wear a 30" waist jeans and a 1x shirt. my favorite nsv's so far? 1. i ran a 5 k with my teenage son and i didn't die. and at the end, he told me that HE was proud of ME. that's probably my best one 2. don't have to wait for a table, a booth is fine. 3. i can tie my shoes without holding my breath or passing out 4. buying clothes at the thrift store (because we all know that us overweight people wear stuff till it's falling apart and cant be donated) 5. doing things with my kids that i just didn't have the energy or desire to before 6. not having to ask my wife to cut my toenails for me 7. being able to wear the 1 piece of clothing that i kept all these years because i couldn't bear to throw it out when it didn't fit me anymore. 8. i get an extra 5 miles a gallon on my motorcycle 9. let's face it.......... skinny sex is better

    I'm dreaming of Plastic Surgery....

I know someday I will get PS, but I have another 4 1/2 years until I have my lapband surgery paid off so I will have to wait until then unless something else happens. Depressing to know that it will be 5 years before I can get this extra skin taken care of and my breast will keep sagging until then too. I want the headlights back on bright instead of pointing to my toes. I think I would even be happy with my body now if I could have PS. I think I would be able to fit into a size 10 then (I am wearing a size 12 now) and I never even thought about wearing a size smaller than that. I remember wanting to wear a size 16 and couldn't imagine fitting into a size 14. (Don't get me wrong I would rather have extra skin than 100 xtra pounds!!!!) I am getting to the point where I can tell a difference in my shoulders and face. I look in the mirror now and think, "Wow! Is that me?" I think my double chin has practiaclly dissapeared and I have cheek bones. I even wore a tank top when I went golfing with my hubby yesterday!!! That is a NSV! :w00t: While lying in bed last night on my side my hubby started to "caress" (for lack of a better word) my hip bone. Not like when I started to feel my hip bone when I tried, but it is really THERE! I was kind of complaining about being fat last month and DH tapped my rib cage. I told him that hurt and I rubbed the spot and he said, 'That's because I hit bone, not soft stuff." It kind of surprised me that he was right. Another NSV.....I like the way I look in my swimsuit. Now don't get me wrong, I don't have a two piece or anything. It is a solid one piece with a little skirt, but I feel good in it! Who would have ever thought. This week end has been a bad one for me. I am dealing with a lot with my daughter and I used food. I will be okay. Weekends are the hardest for me. I will be back on track starting now and the scale will keep moving. Feeling Discouraged

I've been tracking my calories, with My Fitness Pal, since 6 weeks after the birth of my second child- right after I got filled again. I've lost several pant sizes, but only two pounds. I have now plateaued, even with NSV, despite continuing to cut1000 cal. a day. I also use an elliptical at least one time a week, in addition to chasing my 2 year old around. Any thoughts??

    NSV

Great NSV's!!! Sometimes the NSV's are what keeps us going!!
  19. Congrats! NSVs at 2+ years are few and far between! I'm not much of a clothes person, (still shop in thrift stores when I can) but it was sad to say goodbye to a few things. The only item I just couldn't part with was a really nice leather jacket with embossing and latigo lace accents. Cost over $400 and was a fav. Fortunately the seams were located in areas that made it quite easy to take in the sides and sleeves so I was able to have it tailored to fit my new body perfectly.

    Sweet NSV

Last night I was playing around and dancing with my 7 year old daughter, when all of the sudden she stopped, gasped and said "Mommy, you've lost weight!" I love that kid:)

awesome NSV, we should all consider!

Great NSV-- Funny timing on this post. I just looked at my drivers license on Sunday. I am within 5 pounds of the weight I lied about on it. Also, I had a passport picture taken last year at about my heaviest. It's a crappy picture anyway, what a great excuse to get it re-taken
  22. gentlespirit

awesome NSV, we should all consider!

What a fun NSV! You should feel terrific about it. I can't wait till I look that much different, too! Emily
  23. I went to the DMV today to take care of some business and showed the teller my DL, she looked at the DL, looked at me, looked back at the DL and said "sweety we need to retake your picture, i barely can tell your the same person!" :clap2: :clap2: So this is just a reminder, keep tabs on your photo ID pictures like passports and DL!
  24. I met with my nutritionist yesterday and am down 25 lbs based upon their scale. I got 2 big thumbs up on my eating, protein and overall progress. I got "official" approval to move on to the next stage of foods and it's not nearly as restrictive as I thought, so I was thrilled to hear that. I feel like a real person again who gets to eat like "normal people"! Now, my first small NSV - I had time to kill after a doc's appointment today so I went to Kohl's to spend my Kohl's Cash and was perusing the women's clothing section. I'm not buying any clothes yet until my current clothes are falling off, but I wanted to see if I'd gone down any sizes. I was pre-surgery in a 24 pants and 3x shirts. I fit into 2 different pairs of size 20 pants and tried on a really cute 1x shirt! I had read about other people dropping sizes quickly and couldn't believe it, but holy crap, I guess it's true! I'm so thrilled and if I can drop another 25 lbs this month I might be in a 16 by the end of the month . . . that would be amazing.
