I'm wondering the same thing. I had surgery 10/10 (Wednesday) and supposed to start working from home for a week on Monday. I have a desk job but as of day 3 post op I'm not sure if Monday is going to work for me 😬 -

Thank you all for your well wishes. I missed it and my heart is broken... I have been admitted at a bariatric hospital. I have suffered so much. I was on my way to pick up my kids from school in the pouring rain (the 30 min ride was over an hour due to an accident), and I was on the freeway stopping every 10-20 minutes on the side to throw up. At one point in time my heart was palpitating and my fingers and toes started to go numb so I pulled over at a gas station and my husband who was over an hour away from me dialed 911 for an ambulance to come . They showed up with the Fire department and run an EKG to make sure I was not having a heart attack, my heart was racing and I continue to feel like I had an elephant sitting on my chestFire department and run an EKG to make sure I was not having a heart attack, my heart was racing and I continue to feel like I had an elephant sitting on my chest. I told them I needed to get to a place that handles Bariatric’s, But they refused to transport me all the way to Dallas where my doctor is private surgical center, as that would have been two hour ride in rush hour traffic, so I refuse to go with them to a local emergency room as I knew that they would not really know what to do with me and judging from my experience at the ER the previous day they would just try to control the nausea and let me go even though the strongest medicine they have, promethazine has not been controlling my vomiting.i also knew the wait there would be hours and hours as I would be triaged with trauma patients. My husband picked the kids and they met me in the gas station and I watch my eight-year-old son well up with tears streaming down his face when he realized mommy will not be making the mother son dance that he has been waiting for over a year )missed last year’s one due to being out of the country, and this year I promised him come whatever, I’ll be there! I even rescheduled my work trip out of county to be there (scheduled to leave this Thursday and I just don’t know how I can go...). My heart just broke and I felt like I had failed him as A mom, and even then, the crazy side of me tried to tell him it will be OK and we will still go but then I proceeded to violently vomit in front of my kids and realized it’s just not gonna happen . I had my husband stay with the kids and I still drove myself to the hospital in Dallas. Because him driving me would mean bringing along the kids for a long night and what is the point in that. I drove through the rain vomiting most of the way by the time I made it here I was vomiting every 10 minutes. Exhausted, my esophagus burning, felt like a giant grapefruit was stuck in it. They started an IV and gave me some nausea meds which did not work and I just keep throwing up spit and bile. Morning can’t come soon enough so my surgeon will come and probably scope me. sorry for long post... got nothing but suffering and time here. But I thank God he’s kept me alive, so please pray they fix me soon... I am so sorry! Sending you comfort, healing, and peace. -
I'm currently on the liver shrink diet, but its not full liquid. My surgery is on 10/19. The day before surgery I have to do full liquid only.
-
My surgery date is 10/29 also. I start a liquid diet Monday. I'm starting to get nervous... My surgeon keeps patients for 2 nights, and sometimes 3 depending on activity, pain management, and reaction to liquid diet.

Sleeves on 10/11/18 and released the next afternoon. I just had to show I could drink 4 oz of liquid and hour for six hrs straight before I could be released. Feeling ok, belly feels like I was stabbed 5 times lol. They have me liquid oxycodone which helps. Difficult to get into our out of bed but hopefully each day will get better.

I’m 11 days post op (10/1) and this is the first day I’ve felt like myself. I had my 2 week check up today and my surgeon and nutritionist say all is going well. I’m down 20 lbs and was cleared to start stage 4. In my excitement I ate too fast. Got down 4 bites of chicken and it felt wrong. Then I felt sick and threw up. Horrible. Can I just live on shakes and yogurt? I also also got the all clear to exercise but I’m still so fatigued I don’t know what I could possibly get accomplished. Anyway, is anyone concerned about getting enough water?

Breast reduction- did anyone get one after surgery? If so why?
Wanda247 replied to xoxococojay's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I had a breast reduction about 15 years ago and I agree with the other poster that it was the best decision ever! I went from 44 DD to a C cup, I’m now a 38 C and I am still very pleased with them, as I lose more weight I’m certain that they will get smaller and perhaps even become saggy but I’m ok with that. Bye the way I wasn’t having back pain or bra straps digging in my shoulders...good plastic surgeons know how to document and get it approved by the insurance companies. I did not see what he submitted to the insurance company but all I had to pay at that time was my $10 co pay, I was ecstatic because my breast became large when I was pregnant with my kid. My surgery was outpatient, had it on a Thursday stopped taking medicine that Sunday and Monday I was driving myself to my follow up appointment and went shopping for bras afterwards. Another great decision 😃 -
Newark, DE here! My doctor is Dr. Halbert. My consultation was on 10/11. I have scheduled my all appointments and should be done the middle of November! I would love to meet up!

I have IBS. I was sleeved 10 days ago. I had diarrhea for the first 7 or so days but I was consistent in the way that I would go once every morning but it just happen to be diarrhea. After about a week, I've been having more solid movements. Still extremely soft but not diarrhea which I kind of expect because I'm on liquids only. My stomach/bowl movements are no worse off than they were before surgery so I'm not upset about it. Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app

mousecat88 replied to shellyk018's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had initial appointment June 4th, immediately went over and had the labs and EKG done. Had the ultrasound the following week and the nutritionist appointment. Next week sat through 3 nutrition courses all day. Two weeks later, went back to nutritionist to present her with my food journal and got clearance. Had a sleep clinic appointment where they said I didn't need a sleep study because I had one in 2016 and it was fine. Two or three weeks after that saw the psychiatrist and took the psychiatric test. Week later came back and got the results and clearance from her. My personal psychiatrist gave clearance the same time. Few days later saw the surgeon to schedule my surgical date! Got approval from insurance in 4 days. Surgical date currently 11/1/18. So, that all happened in about a 2.5-3 month time span. I have a nurse telephone consult in two weeks to go over my meds and I have to take a 3 hour online class next week. The following week I have a 1 hour online class and the START clinic for final pre-op diagnostics. And then the day before my surgery (10/31) I meet with the surgeon again to sign the consent forms and ask final questions. Started the pre-op diet yesterday! -
Thank you! I choose the sleeve Surgery date is 10/25/18!!!! I'm now on the pre od liquid diet. So. Just a trucking along w/ the steps!!!

Suggestions for what to bring to the hospital
oct102018 replied to Georgetown's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got sleeved 10/10/18 and still in hospital hopefully getting discharged tmrw. I packed a book bag full of stuff and I only used my chapstick, phone charger, face wash and toothbrush. FOR ME I find it easier being in the gown. It's the easiest when I go pee to just have it opened and not have to worry about pulling down and up my underwear since it really does hurt sitting down and getting up. Also I found it easier with the gown when I took a shower, just slip off then slip on a new one but again that's me. Best of luck to you! -
Ugh, I am at 10 1/2 months. Mine is also baby-fine. It is longer - I wear it similar to yours but have always had bangs of some sort. It only thinned somewhat in the 4-6 month range, but then really amped up. There are actually some bare spots here and there on the top near the back that I never noticed til using a hand mirror to check the back while coloring my roots last month. And then the top has thinned so much more - yet ridiculously my roots seem to be growing like crazy as they are constantly gray - even within like 2 weeks after coloring!! I do not get it. I take all the same precautions with the vitamins and biotin and even adding the essential peppermint oil as someone else mentioned. My iron is on the low side, but I have been trying to amp up my intake of that & protein in my diet as I continue to try different Iron supplements in search of one that does not bother my stomach. My Dr. is not convinced iron infusions are necessary at this point. In addition, not only is the thinning happening, but my hair in general just looks awful. Ends are splitting. Just looks so unhealthy. It's really driving me crazy! Hope it will be healthy again one of these days. Would love to hear any tips from any hair stylists who have had surgery themselves!!

I did the online seminar and heard back from the bariatric center the next day...had my surgery consult about a week later and began my insurance hoops...I had already started a dr monitored diet about a month before so I continued with that and will have my final appt Tues....meanwhile, i've had the sleep study and psychological eval...I'd already had the required Endoscopy. Assuming i've lost the requisite 10% of my weight, everything will go back to insurance for final approval next week and then I will finally get my surgery date. It's been about 6 month thus far. It's a process, but be patient and it will fly by. -
The process to get to surgery seems forever. Beginning of September I start the process with the seminar. Then I wait till October 10 to see a nutritionist. Now I have to wait till November 21st to do the psych appointment. Wowsers

Had my sleeve surgery yesterday!!! (10/10/18)
oct102018 posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hey guys! I'm new to this app and wanted to go head and do my first post. I had the sleeve surgery done yesterday (Wednesday around noon) I'm a 29 year old female (I'll be 30 in December 😳) my starting weight was 254.8 and After my 3 day clear liquid diet I was 246.8 the morning of surgery. I'm still in the hospital and hoping to be discharged tomorrow (Friday) Waking up in the recovery room I'll be honest was hell. pretty sure I wasn't on pain meds but if I was they deff wasn't working. Got moved to my room and was just in horrible horrible pain for a good hour straight. I had shortness of breathe and found myself taking deep gasps of air. I finally got to take 2 small pain pills (taking 5 mins apart) and was okay after and was in and out of sleep. I made sure to get the meds every 3 hours. As for nausea, I only felt it for a min before I took my first dose of medicine and I think it was just from all the pain I was in. I stayed in the bed all day prob until 8 or 10 pm until I had to use the restroom. Getting out of the bed was a little rough but just going slow is the key. Today is going better, I have walked a few times and been up more to use the bathroom and best of all I was finally able to get a shower!! Lol. I been burping and just focusing on getting my sips in. It's still a little hard to get up from out of the bed but I'm just telling myself each day that passes I'll feel a little better. Now that I shared my story I'm thinking about making a IG strictly for my sleeve progress. Only a handful of people know about my surgery so it will be a private page. I haven't made the page yet but if you have one too and wanna leave your usernames I'll add everyone soon 😁 -
Non Plain Water Drink Choices
BelleOfBatonRouge replied to Gr8Mom's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I am in clear liquids only of my pre op diet. Here are My favorites so far - hint water! Watermelon and pineapple are my favorite but I haven’t had a bad one. I’ve loved hint water since before I was even thinking about getting wls. -trimino protein water in coconut/pineapple. This has 7 grams of whey protein isolate. Ice cold the flavor was decent, but I hated the apple flavored one. - a&w root beer packets. I found these at Walmart with the crystal light. I HATE that fake sugar after taste of water enhancers, and while I have never beem a big soda drinker my drink of choice was root beer when I did. This tastes EXACTLY like a root beer minus the carbonation, but still only has 10 calories in a pack (one pack per 16 oz water). I have some premier protein clear out for delivery today, so hopefully it doesn’t taste awful. -
This is the last time I'm posting this list, but if someone else wants to take over updating it, please feel free. I just lost a family member (my father's husband, after losing my father last year), and I've kind of got other things to focus on right now. Don't look for me on the boards for a while. I honestly felt worse with root canals and having all 4 wisdom teeth extracted and then walking 2 miles in the ☔ rain. Why did I walk home in the rain? Couldn't find anyone to drive me, was about half the age I am now and like Travis Tritt, I was" 10 feet tall and bulletproof", Would I do it again? No way I have 2 artificial knees, too many years of playing catcher, I'm twice as old, smarter? Now that is debatable, and besides I developed dry sockets. Now THAT is a miserable occurance. But post-surgery pain? Somewhere between too many sit-ups and pist-partum pain, closer to the first. And that's at its worst, just remember while you were asleep someone was in with an eggbeayer but things do settle down soon. And a new better life start an and I know it is worth all the inconvenience for the gains you receive.

Mine does 3, 6 and a year, more often if valid reason. So I should have December, March and September 2019.

You look awesome! I'm about to turn 30 and having my surgery right before my birthday. My mom's been steadily losing weight over the last few years and hoarded some of her larger clothes, so I'll be wearing mom-clothes for a while. Fortunately, she is quite a fashionable 52 year old. lol! I also saved some clothes from 10 years ago when I was 6 sizes smaller in the hopes that some day I could wear them again - welp, soon enough, bag of hoarded clothes! haha. And people told me to just get rid of them. PFFTTTTT. -
Breast reduction- did anyone get one after surgery? If so why?
mousecat88 replied to xoxococojay's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I had my breast reduction in January 2017, before I decided on having gastric bypass. I went from an H to a D cup. I wish I had done it 10 years prior. I had IMMEDIATE back and ribcage relief. I could BREATHE easier. I became like an inch taller! lol. Honestly, if I was allowed, I would have had them take them off entirely. They've caused me nothing but pain my entire life. They removed EIGHT POUNDS of fat. I am scared that I am going to now have gastric and they will shrink and get saggy again, but what can ya' do.
