    Sorry TMI vaginal discharge

I’m 11 days po and have the same issue. I know it’s not an STI for a fact. But I didn’t have this issue before being sleeved. Now I just notice I’m more moist that usual…. I think it’s weird. Plan on talking to my dr about it at our visit next week.

    Food Before and After Photos

Like most things, we’re different. Some can eat more. Some are encouraged to eat more. Some can only eat small amounts. Some lose their hunger. Others don’t. It’s all ok. As @ms.sss said how much you can eat can depend on what you’re eating & this seems to remain true regardless of how far along you are. It can also depend upon the time of day, what else you’ve eaten that day, how fast you eat, etc. You’re likely in a stall at the moment. The first usually occurs around week 3 & can last 1 to 3 weeks. If it persists, get in touch with your dietician. A tweak to your plan may be needed. You may also discover differences between your hungry & full signals. There are differences between the signals for head vs real hunger & differences between being full & having enough (do you need that next bite or just want it - a big realisation for me). Just have to discover yours. As long as you’re following your surgeon & dietician’s plan, & it seems you are, it will all work out. Have a chat with your dietician anyway if only to reassure yourself you’re doing ok.
  3. But what I'm nervous about is that I'm just stalled becuase maybe i"m somehow eating too much bec the food doesn't bother me, and I def eat more than 1/2 cup at a time!!! It's way less than pre-sleeve, but definitely more than 1/2 cup they told me I'd be able to handle. I'm really concerned!
  4. Hi whispers, I lost most of my weight with band (333 to 183) but then I gained it all back. When I started my weight loss pre- RNY I was back at 333. I'm now down around 160 and I lost it over a little over a year. What made bypass better for me: Food doesn't get stuck. I don't throw up. I don't have acid reflux (well, much. I'm one of the unfortunate ones that still has some). At 2+ years out I eat a "normal" amount --- normal for normal weight people, not my pre-surgery normal. That can be good or bad as if I eat the wrong things I will get too many calories. But it is better than with band. With band, if I was retaining water, or on my period I may only be able to eat a bite or two some days. Other days it felt like I could eat anything. For what it's worth, I also really embraced exercise and walk almost every day, hike multiple days a week, and hit the gym a few times a week now that they are open again.
  5. This week I'm going to make: - Chicken Pot pie - minus the pie --- so kind of a chicken stew. The one I like has Thyme and Dijon as the base flavors. - Vegetable au gratin: It's cauliflower, broccoli, leek and chicken dinner sausage in a Sour cream (I replace 1/2 with greek yogurt and use lower fat versions) and cheese sauce. - Thai chicken salad for lunch's.

    March 2022 Surgery Buddies

I'm drinking things too fast. sip sip sip and then stop a bit then sip sip sip. I skipped the cream of wheat today and just had a small amount of yogurt mixed with a spoon of non-fat cottage cheese and s/f maple syrup instead. I'm feeling pretty good. I've been using my fitness pal to truly track my calories and macros - yesterday I only consumed 528 calories, 71g protein, 41g carb, 8g fat. Today so far, I have 461 calories, 74g protein, 27g carb, 4g fat. I'm shocked by these low calorie numbers and my satiety. I would have never been able to sustain this low of a caloric intake prior to surgery. My shoulder pain is hugely improved today - I still feel it when I take deep breaths but it's manageable. I made an intention to add fresh pineapple to my smoothies 3 days prior to surgery in an effort to minimize swelling and bruising due to the bromelain it contains … I wonder if it actually had an effect on anything (clearly not the air). My husband is stressing my out today (he's too hyper and bored with me being down and out and therefore driving me crazy like a little kid) - I could feel my inner organs tense up as I was getting frustrated with him. I need to just chill out and ignore him! We're usually on the go on the weekends. Have any of you experienced an aversion to foods that you liked before? I can't really say that I have, I mean everything is limited anyways. I did have a dream that I was eating melon. lol I woke up nervous about that. I just made a yummy soup that gave me a nice umami flavor, I used Swanson bone broth instead of water with a can of Campbell's golden mushroom soup, strained. It was surprisingly very good.

    Cravings

I was having a severe craving for chips these last two weeks. I felt like I couldn't control myself. I am coming to the conclusion that I was dehydrated and was craving salt. So I upped my water and today I was at least able to get through the day without caving to them. How's your water intake?
  8. I just signed up for my first 5K race (on Mother's Day!) and suddenly I'm so emotional that I'm shaking. I've done several 5Ks in the past, both before and after my lapband in 2013 (lost 95 lbs, got pg then gained it all back plus more), but I just can't believe I'm back and going to be able to do this again! I'm in tears thinking about how much I've changed in the past year (sleeved on 3/26/21), and I'm so proud that I'm bursting. I'm half way through week 4 of Couch to 5K and things are going awesomely. I'm scared too, though, because I have fears that I'll tear something or get injured. And anyone who did C25K before knows the dreaded 20 min run is next week. I'm trying to be super careful and methodical about my stretching before and after training so I can continue running. It makes me feel invincible.

    Update On Me (Surgery: 5/19/21)

UPDATE: I go in this week for another regular check up with my family doc and so today he had me get my cholesterol and my A1C done again. My LDL was 137 which is weird cause it was 135 in September. I would think it would have improved and gone down more. NOT go up.....even if it isn't up by much. My A1C was 5.6 down from 5.8 in September. I would have thought that would have gone down more too. Especially since last March it was 6.7 and went to 5.8 in September last year. BIG difference in just 6 months. So why was this last 6 months not so good? Also been stalled for about that same amount of time. These things make me think even more that maybe I should have stayed at my normal Metformin dose so I'll definitely be talking about that this week with my doctor. As much as I wanted to come off the meds it just may have been too soon. EDITED TO ADD: So even though I have an appointment with him this week he called me to go over the results already. He said my sugar numbers are excellent and responding well but the cholesterol isn't responding as well but it isn't terrible. Anyway, he mentioned Metformin and my weight loss and stuff and then I briefly said that I wanted to discuss it and why and he then mentioned that there are better medications than Metformin that accomplish the same stuff for my sugars but also help with weight loss so we'll talk about that this week too. Not sure what medication he is thinking about but I guess I'll see.
  10. It's two years and half that I was operated, and I loose 25 kg than regained 10, than lose 5 and so on. I'm on a stall, and also whit diet and four/five time of exercise week, swim, gym and skating, I don't lose weight at the moment and I don't understand what could be go wrong Sent from my M2101K7BNY using BariatricPal mobile app

    How long for incision pain?

I had RNY on 3/3, so I'm two days behind you, but -- yeah, I still have plenty of abdominal pain, which seems to be both internal and external. It's major surgery, and I didn't expect healing to be complete in a week. If you're not having any other symptoms of trouble, just take your meds, the most important one being a healthy dose of Tincture of Time. Good luck!
  12. Hello! I love coming back to this thread and reading all the ways ya'll are experiencing life anew post-surgery. Life is bananas for me and all the shares here are a great reminder of the many reasons I had this surgery at a time when I am often too busy to do much of my own reflection. So...thank you to everyone that has taken time to share the wonderful and weird ways you are experiencing life post WLS. My latest NSV is an emotional/psychological win around internalized food and body shame. I have owned a food scale for years and for all those years I felt ashamed about using it, judging myself as so "out of control" that I couldn't manage healthy portions on my own. Rather than a simple tool, I viewed it as a symbol of a failed out-of-control relationship to food. I had a hard time using the food scale because I was embarrassed to keep it in sight or use it in front of anyone. Fast forward to last week...when I got so fed up with other people in my household putting my food scale deep in the cupboard that I taped a sign to it and wrote in bold sharpie "I USE THIS, PLEASE LEAVE ON THE COUNTER FOR ME". Felt zero shame or hesitancy in doing this, just happy to solve the annoying problem of one of my essential tools being hidden away from me. This feels like one of my most important NSVs.
  13. Hi all. I had RNY on 3/1. The pain has gotten progressively better, but I’m still having pain mid-stomach at the largest incision (not the incision itself - internal pain) when I move, bend, or reach certain ways. I’m scared that I ripped something inside 😒 I haven’t had fever, nausea, vomiting or anything else, so hoping it’s just still “settling.” My post op appt got moved to this coming Wednesday. Anyone else have tales of post-op pain taking a while?

    March 2022 Surgery Buddies

That’s great! I got mine March 9th after having my surgery be post pibes 3 times and waiting 1 year after initial postponement but I’m 3 days post op now and so far so good…never knew passing gas would bring me such joy lol
  15. For those that have developed a marginal ulcer after revision, what did you drink? I'm losing my mind. Even my shakes I put a shot of espresso. I live for coffee. Seems like most tea is off limits. I need suggestions. It's been 2 months of this & surgeon just said at least another 3 months of carafate 3 times a day hoping it will heal by then because it's still angry
  16. I think 22lb is great. Well done! Are you still losing? Are you enjoying your life? Remember, if you lose 1lb a week, that's your goal weight by next summer. Relax, smile, have a cookie.

    Hair questions

Unless there are other mitigating factors (not related to the trauma of surgery), any hair loss will eventually come back. I started dropping carpets of hair round 3 months postop. Noticed the little chicken hairs sticking up over my head around 7 months post op. By year 2 all those chicken hairs grew to the same length as the rest of my hair (jaw-line length hair at the time). And density-wise it looked about the same as it did immediately before surgery. Though if anything it looked a tad thicker than pre-op (but this may just be wishful thinking lol) Mind you, i had thinning hair already pre-op, but at least any further thinning due to surgery was eliminated. As an aside, I’m currently in the process of getting SMP (scalp micro-pigmentation to give illusion of fuller hair..i.e., scalp tattooing)…will update on results when im done. So far so good looks-wise, but it effing hurts.
  18. You are working out 1-3 hours? That’s incredible! You’re probably gaining muscle weight, even if your attention is in mostly cardio. Keep up what you’re doing and I bet one day soon you’ll see a huge drop all of a sudden.

To LilaNicole 20 ! Hope your procedure went well and you're feeling better now. My gastric bypass was on 3/7/22. I still have a little pain at the incision sites and a bit more intense pain on my right side so it hurts when i take a deep breath. My Doctor fixed a hiatal hernia he found during surgery, so that may be the reason for the pain. I can drink liquids easily, thank God so i won't get dehydrated, hopefully. Have to take PPIs a long time and still taking Metroprolol for high blood pressure, but may be able to discontinue those after a while. I can't walk very far yet or stand up straight without a pillow. Other than all that, i'm feeling really good! Thank You, Jesus!!!
  20. Vegetables also have carbs, so do dairy and lentils/beans. So it really depends. Plus, like few others mentioned, even my program isn't restrictive on carbs or fats or calories. My protein and carbs content more or less align in numbers. So you shouldn't get too bogged down with numbers unless you're eating heavy load of calories. I feel your workout sessions are heavy 1-3 hrs starting in about 5 weeks in. Though your program recommendation may be different. With such heavy workout, you also have to take into account muscle mass which may be replacing your fat loss. Hence slower weight loss. Personally speaking, such exhausting workout, only a month after surgery, sounds a bit too much for me. But if it's working out for you, might as well.

    March 2022 Surgery Buddies

We’re surgery twins! Uncomfortable best describes the feeling, for sure. I weighed in on the day of surgery at 267 and today I’m 260. Yesterday I was able to get all my protein in before 2pm. Hoping to do the same today. It definitely takes focus and intention to reach the prescribed numbers. This isn’t exactly a walk in the park, is it?! Do you have trapped air like I do - around the collarbone/shoulders/neck? It’s a little better today but not gone. I’m so excited to get to the 2 week mark - I think most discomfort will subside by then. I’m content right now with the full liquid diet. Have you been taking pain meds? I can’t sleep without them yet. I was doing fine on the IV Tylenol in the hospital but being home I’m taking the 5mg Oxy and 500mg oral Tylenol every 6 hours. What did they give you for pain? Have you had a bm yet? My incisions have been itchy, which is a good sign of healing but annoying at the same time.

    6 month over

Dear all, IT has been 6 month and 2 weeks after my gastric sleeve. I lost 28 kg and I am looking and feeling great. I fit in very tiny outfit and I can wear whatever I want. I went from size 50 to size 36. Please trust this surgery, take your suplements and dare to change your life around. Sent from my CLT-L29 using BariatricPal mobile app
  24. 3 week stall is what we call it out here, you can search for it on the forum. Majority of us have gone through it. So have I. I lost weight a week after surgery when I was clear fluids, but 3 weeks nada. I stalled for 3 weeks with no weight changes and thereafter it started coming down. Even after the first month, your weight comes down in steps than a constant decline. So you’ll have those phases when you won’t see much movement on the scale.
  25. I'm 7 weeks out now and have travelled absolutely perfectly (and will do so tomorrow too). Don't plan on any big meals. Although...ever really.
