Ooh, here's another one. I realised this past weekend I could sit with my legs toward my chest and rest my arms on top of my knees. I was at the beach and did it...the stomach didn't block me! I was so giddie! I love NSV's!!! Keep posting! :-) You don't realise the simple things that we miss because we're fat.

The only stupid question is the one never asked  NSV= Non scale Victory

I hear ya! One of the best NSV's in my wls life has been being able to WORK again!! Who would have ever thought that??!! My husband had had to do all the shopping, cooking, cleaning, etc....everything...for about 3 years. Now I do all that and a whole lot MORE! And if I'm happy about it, just think how thrilled HE must be!!!

How many pant sizes did you lose in a year?
TheRealMeIsHere! replied to Synee's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You will do great, just keep you eye on the prize, lol!! I began at a very tight size 24, within a year I was a 00 and have maintained ever since. The maintenance is the hardest part. Losing is easier, because you have the reward of watching the scale go down, NSV's, smaller clothes and many compliments. You will easily be able to get to size 10! -
We had a big BBQ and usually I can eat as much as 3 grown men. I kid you not! But this is the first holiday I've had the band and I only ate 2 ribs and a serving of greenbeans. I was so full! It felt great eating like a normal person!

Congrats on your NSV! I can't wait for my first cookout! Hopefully I can eat on my birthday that is on Aug 2nd. I am 4 days out from being banded and hopefully I can have some of my birthday cake! lol

Okay, so this weekend I decided to try on a formal pencil dress. they didn't have my size, so I tried on one size smaller. Guess what! It fit!!!!!!! I didn't even need to unzip it! I just slipped it right on. I was just window shopping, so I didn't buy it, but I might go back and get it because I have a wedding to go to in 2 weeks. The second one was that I was sitting at a restaurant eating, and thought to myself, " gee, I think my stomach is shrinking!" LMAO!!!!

Congrats on the skirt fitting!!! Stupid question... What does NSV stand for??

Another Sandgroper here! I haven't had a problem with the early darkness but I don't work when I'm home in Perth (work away on a mine site), so I can get out during the day. I love walking on the crisp clear cold days but have to admit, I do it in the middle of the day, rather than early morning or evening when it is FREEZING! I guess we're all feeling the cold more as our fat blankets are melting away. That's an NSV in itself, as I was always too hot before and used to drive other people nuts by running the airconditioning flat out.

Trizzy, I am so sorry you had this experience, but I want to you smile, girlfriend, because next summer at this time you will be living a whole new, wonderful life filled with daily NSV's and SV's....you have so much to look forward to!

I am the same, need more self control. I had my first fill a week ago. I feel fuller, though it's not enough. I know I need at least another fill. I am surprised what I can eat. It's still much less than what I used to, but I am not having issues as other people have. I think it's that I really chew my food now. Which is a big NSV for me. I used to inhale my food before. Gregnlr thanks for the props! :thumbup:You are doing well with your own weight loss

"NSV" - non-scale victory. Probably the most important reward on our journey. If we learn to look to them MORE than to the scale for positive reinforcement, I think we get more reconnected to our lives and what we're really striving for. Congrats, Greta!!!

Congrats!!!!!!!!!! I know that NSV was just wonderful!!!!

May 2011 Bandsters Report In
transforming jlaroux replied to missmary44's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello out there! I have gained so much from my 42 pounds gone. I love my band. I've had 3 fills and have 8 cc in my 11cc realize band. I posted a list of NSV's in my hospitals fourm and wanted to share it with all of you, so here goes: I have lost two pants sizes and 1 shirt size. My skinny jeans are becoming my fat jeans. My double chin is now a chin and a neck.I can cross my legs.I can reach my shoes to tie them. I don't mind looking in the mirror, as much.People notice. My rings are too big.My lanyard hangs all the way to my belly button. My ankle has less and less pain everyday. My PCOS has resolved. The seatbelt in my car doesn't cut my neck.I have become an inspiration to others! Its amazing what you gain when you lose! Thanks for reading, I'd love to hear some of your lists! -
Stupid NSV, BUT I can see bits of the chair seat as I'm sitting on it. Here I was, sitting at my desk, lamenting/cursing my plateau, and for the first time ever I noticed that there is chairseat visible to the left and right of my legs, and some chair is showing between my legs (I'm wearing pants, it's not that Im wearing a skirt hiked up to the wazoo!!). Yippee!!!! Tapshoes spins on her chair like a giddy kid at a soda shop (those of you old enough to know what that is can appreciate the excitement of that novelty).

Congrats! This is how it happened to me too  I still try to wear my clothes too long.. I usually dont switch to the next size till I have excess material hanging off my butt. My hubby hates it haha. I can't believe that once I lost one size they just started snowballing down. I went from a 22/24 to a 14 in 50 pounds. Just wait a few more weeks and u will probably have a nsv again Those are the best!

Ideas: What do you do for yourself at each goal?
swirligirl posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I went to a support group the other night and we discussed setting up goals and non-food ways to reward yourself for reaching said goal. I have started working on a list of goals for myself, may be a nice little project for other people that are banded or soon to be banded. Starting weight 377 Goal 1: 350 - Pedicure Goal 2: 300 - Facial ( I have a gift certificate I am holding on to for this! ) Goal 3: 250 - Full body massage (another gift cert from a patient :banana ) Goal 4: 200 - All new sets of scrubs for work in normal girl sizes Goal 5: 175 - 2 new outfits that are NOT from Layne Bryant :laugh Goal 6: 160 - This is my goal weight, I am 5'9" and have a big build so I can't see myself going any lower. When I reach this, I am going to take a trip to here: http://galilea.nikmills.com/ :cheeky :Bunny I am also going to get back into hiking and joggin, which I used to enjoy. It seems like it will go so fast when I write it down, but I know that it will be hard work. Hence why I know I will have time to save for the trip. I figure all that money I have spent on junk food, restaurants, and Snacks can go in a savings account for vacation. I know there will be smaller accomplishments as I lose, the days where I will have those little NSVs, but these are for the big goals of 50lbs. -
Hi everyone -- I just wanted to share an NSV ... I'm not sure why this one made me feel so good, but it did. Maybe because I had a slight unfill today and am concerned about gaining weight. Anyone, I'm thisclose to being two-thirds of the way to my goal (about a 1/2 pound away) and have lost about 5 sizes of clothing. As a consultant, I spend lots of time with clients, and one client in particular that I have been working with for almost 2 years, so they've seen me yo-yo a bit. Today, I was talking to one of the secretaries and before I hung up she said "Hey, I heard you lost a ton of weight and look great. I have not seen you in a while, but that is the rumor here." Again, not sure why this one was so nice to hear, but it was fun to be part of the rumor mill for my clients. As a side note, I tore ligaments in my ankle in May and spent the summer in a boot. As September came around, I finally bought so clothes that actually fit and started wearing two matching shoes. A ton of people have commented how much better I look with 2 matching shoes, I think the real difference is the 79 pounds, but I'll take the matching shoes too! Saturday is my younger sister's wedding and I am actually not dreading the photos, not really looking forward to it, but not dreading it. Both of my sisters have the opposite issue than me (aneroxia) so I will still look huge, but not as huge as before. Thanks for reading this super long post. Cynthia

Hubby came home with one of my gifts in a Victoria's Secret bag. Ok. It made me nervous. What if it doesn't fit??? Anxiety. Well. It did!! Woo hoo. Size large. Awesome!
