    January Bandsters???

Good for you!!!! It's nice to reach those mini goals. I can't believe I've lost over 60 lbs since my surgery, it's amazing what it can do! Keep up the good work! I had a NSV yesterday when one of the receptionists asked if my boobs got smaller, I guess they did, but now people are noticing. Also this morning I tried on a bunch of old clothes that didn't used to fit....well now they do!!! Some are snug, but they will definetly be wearable by summer!

    Steady losers ;-)

SASSY....sounds like you got a good fill! YEAH!! Congrats! BK....glad you are over your stomach bug! KAY...you're just now having your first PB!?? You lucky girl! I, unfortunately, have had it happen a few times b/c I still apparently learned how to keep my big trap shut and take smaller bites! ugh...it does suck, but at least it makes you stop eating for a while! lol STEPH....I'll definitely keep you posted on things w/the new guy! Unfortunately I haven't heard from him since Sat. when I replied to his email, but I know he had a big project launching this week so I figure he's just not thinking about it. He also may be putting off a 'date' until he's had a chance to talk to me more in a group setting since we have a wine group happy hour next week! Congrats on the NSV Compliment at work!! I still have not had anyone who didn't know I had surgery comment on my weight loss, but oh well...I'm not doing it for them, I'm doing it for me! I go first thing in the AM for my 3rd fill w/my new fill Dr. I've heard she's very good and personable, although I wished I could do it under fluoro, I think it'll be ok! I'll report back once it's done! NAT...Good to see you!!! I would LOVE to see those docs you got today! I know I definitely need them! You can upload them into our yahoo group and make them available in the files section BMAN and ANNIE....It'll soon be Friday and hopefully you'll get a break! Have a good week everyone!

Thanks AfrykanViolet, I workout at a gym and I also ride my bike. I was stuck at 252lbs for 3 weeks and low and behold this past week I lost 5lbs!!! Keep at it and keep moving...that scale is going to move! Janine, I think we're the only ones that use the name "Marchies", but I should have at least put 07 in the original message. I'll see if I can go back and add it. Juli, Congrats on the NSV!!! Thanks Tracy! Welcome to Bandland...you finally made it!!! I hope your surgery was a success! I'll be peeking over at the April thread to see how you're doing! Guns, LLSibley, and anyone else having trouble cutting and pasting...don't worry about it. Just give us a daily or weekly update. We wanna see!!! kuebel j, my5grlz, and medge, I'm sending some "will power" vibes your way as you all wait for your fills! Hazelbunny, size 32/34 to a size 24!!!! WOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!! :clap2:

    MaRcHiEs IN MaY

Thanks for the new thread. I'm excited to move my exercise ticker today! The scale isn't moving. But I've got a NSV! I'm wearing a size 24 today! I was in a 30 in January. Sure it's a bit snug, but it's on and I'm strutting. That's right.

    Steady losers ;-)

Hi Everyone! I'm enjoying my one and only weekend with NO homework so I decided to see what everyone was up to! bkwalling—Man, it sounds like you’ve been having a miserable time lately! I’m so glad your interview went well! I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you! As for me, the boss told me yesterday that my interview (for the job I’m already doing) went “very well” but they aren’t hiring anyone at this time because no one was “qualified.” Yes, that pretty much means that I’m chopped liver. Kind of like a mistress--good enough to fool around with but not good enough to marry. On a more positive note, the boss asked me to continue in the acting supervisory position through the summer. I’ll be done my administration degree by August, so hopefully I’ll be “good enough” for them by then… :faint: BooBooKitty—I think we ALL deserve more pay because we rock! StephC—Remember that some days are going to be better than others. Just get back on track and don’t beat yourself up too much! You are just about halfway through your weight loss—hang in there! :clap2: VABandster—Awesome job getting into those size 18 shorts! I tried on two sets of PJs today that were XL. They fit, but the material was a bit thin, so I didn’t get them. I was floating on a cloud that I could actually squeeze my keester into an outfit in the "regular" section of the store! Jill—You made it to onederland! I’m SO excited for you!! :wow2: beversman—What I wouldn’t do to go on a road trip right now! I’m so sick of doing homework! Your weight loss is INCREDIBLE! I’m so proud of you—what an accomplishment! :first: Kaydotrn—Glad to have you back! I’ve been among the missing myself. I made it through my 3 classes at the same time nightmare of the last 8 weeks! My next class doesn't start until next Thursday, so I thought I’d write to everyone. At least I’ll only have one class at a time and my internship to get done from now until the end of August. Way to go by the way on losing 50 pounds already! I was banded the day after you, and have only lost around 35 (maybe a little more by now). I really need to exercise some more—now that I won’t have classes 2-4 nights a week I’ll be able to be more dedicated like you! I guess I should just be happy I haven’t GAINED any weight. I sure would have in the old days before the band! :hungry: Nathalie—I’m glad you’re doing better after your rough patch! You’re an inspiration! Good job standing up to your mother—not an easy task! VABandster—The VA Tech. tragedy hit us hard in Hampton Roads as well. One of my classmates is a teacher in Smithfield, the hometown of one of the girls who died. One of my professors is an assistant superintendent in Hampton, VA, where another girl who died used to live. Working in the school system has been nerve-wracking, too. My son (a high school freshman) stayed home from school on April 20th because of rumors of a Columbine-style shooting. We had an interview for him at an alternative school in the morning (traditional high school sucks) and I decided to keep him home just in case. All of us at central office got a procedure for handling phoned-in bomb threats. Not a warm and happy feeling! My big NSV is that I had to buy new underwear and bras today because I was swimming in my old ones! I know, I really like to live it up! Woo-hoo! The only downer is that my body is turning into a giant blob of flabby jello! Do any of you feel this way? I don’t know if all of my fat is just loosening up so it can melt off, but I jiggle more now than I did 40 pounds ago! I don’t think I’m going near a bathing suit this summer. I hope my skin tightens up or I’m definitely going to need a date with a plastic surgeon! Or maybe I should move to Mauritania??? I think I’ll check out that “thedailyplate.com” website. I haven’t had the time to track calories—maybe now is a good time to try that out. I'll do my best to check in more often. Keep up the good work everyone! It's amazing how much we've all accomplished already!

1 week out and sick of soup

Oh, sorry! LOL! I didn't read the title....no idea what POPT is, but NSV is a Non Scale Victory. Basically anything good related to weight loss that isn't actually reflected on the scale. For example, I'm looking forward to being able to cross my legs again. That will be one happy NSV for me!
  7. mylapspirit

1 week out and sick of soup

No, I need to know what POPT means and NSV. Thanks,

    Marchies In April

Just got back from my walk. I did 1.8miles with one pound weights on both wrist and both ankles. Then I took them off and did .4 without the weights just to cool down. I had an NSV while walking. I had to keep pulling up my sweet pants. I finally had to tie them. I couldn't put two and two together as to why they were falling down. DUH! I am still only down 24 lbs, but something is getting smaller.
  9. Oregondaisy

How is weight loss for people over 50?

I haven't really had any NSV. When I first got banded and lost 22 lbs from 4 weeks of liquids, I pulled out a pair of pants that had been tight on me. I started wearing those and I can still wear them. Nobody has noticed that I have lost weight. I have only lost 5 lbs in the last 3 months, so I can see why nobody has noticed.

    Marchies In April

TammyJ, Thanks for setting up the challenge! I'm adjusting mine to 10 30min and 10 40 min sessions. I try to do my cardio at least 40, but my circuit is only 30. Did my circuit for the first time today since before surgery, and it felt good. I'm Ready! OHJuli, You are kicking but already on your exercise! Thanks for giving me something to aspire to. I have two exercise balls, but don't know what to do with them. One I have at the office and when I get sick of sitting on my but so much, I'll work at my computer while bouncing on my ball. :bounce: Congratulations Medge on your NSV (non-scale victory). It's really mind blowing to me seeing these sudden changes to my body. Sometimes I just have to look in the mirror and think....wow, 2 months ago..... Mary, I've heard that some don't feel the restriction until a week after their fill. I think that was the case with me. I'm feeling pretty good restriction now and had my fill last Wednesday. I didn't have it right away. Kind of weird, huh? Mrs. Husker, I definately think you should count a day of cleaning or gardening as a session in the exercise challenge! That's hard work! Guns&Roses, Glad you are joining in again! I think you'll find that the format has changed a bit in our group from before. Have a great weekend everyone!!
  11. Denise, you probably are in a plateau phase right now. I believe that both the body and the intellect do go through these periods. When I was living in France and trying to learn French I noticed that I would go through spells of mopping up the language and these would be followed by fallow periods, periods of real frustration for me. Have you been paying attention to your NSVs or are you just relying on scale numbers?

    January Bandsters???

5jacks- That is a great NSV! You must be so proud of yourself!:clap2: Your weight loss is GREAT! I went for my 2nd fill today. The PA put .75 cc's of saline in the band with the first fill. Today he told me that there was still .75 cc's in my band and he added another .75 cc's for a total of 1.5cc's in a 4 cc band. I am almost at my 3 month bandaversary(4/30) and I have lost 36 pounds. I also wanted to lose 10 pounds/month, so far, I am ahead of the game. Have a good night! Gigi:)
  14. Karey, I had my surgery done the day after yours and I know that BJean is another Sept 2006 woman. I haven't been weighing myself because I have always had scale phobia ever since I was 25. I know that the morning of my operation I weighed 200 and when I went for my last fill which was in late February I weighed 170. Mostly I am functioning by NSVs. Last summer I wore a size 18W pant and last weekend I bought a size 12P pair of capris without muffin top. Of course sizes do vary depending on the manufacturer and our weight will vary day to day, too, depending on a bunch of small factors. My advice is to enjoy the fact that you are getting slimmer, continue to pay attention to eating carefully and healthily, get physical and move around (remember that walking and housework are also forms of physical activity), and don't get too hung up on scale numbers. This is very good advice. Sometimes I forget it.:cry

    January Bandsters???

Gotta share my nsv of sorts!! Was sitting at two of my boys' ball practice and another mom walked up to me. She started out by apologizing for not saying hello to me during the last practice.....said she didn't realize it was me until her husband later that night said something about "Lisa sure has lost a lot of weight" then she realized it was me!!!!!! Joe.....you rock!! that's a lot of losing!! I'm jealous but not disappointed in my own weight loss. Dr. said today I've lost 53 pounds in 4 months (my scales show 44), wanted to average 10 pounds a month for the first year so I'm ahead of schedule. Do you have a goal for the end of each month/year or are you just going for it?

    January Bandsters???

Girls & Guys - just an FYI, getting up at 5 am to exercise is not fun. lol. I'm so tired these days, I must get some sleep tonight! Side note, I had to share a NSV - Or maybe its a scale victory. Anyhow, I went to my daughters parent teachers conferences, and one of her teachers came up to me and said "wow, I hate to be rude, or I hope i'm not being rude, but have you lost weight?" - this teacher has only seen me twice, and I felt good that she noticed. Anyhow, just went I start to feel down about my weight, I get a compliment that brings me back up on cloud 9. I have a question - have you guys noticed werid noises coming from your throat area? I am having all kinds of gurgle noises, weird. It doesn't happen all the time, but it woke me up last night doing it. I haven't had heart burn or anything, just weird noises coming from the inside......

    Road to "TWOterville"

Wow where to start, Laura welcome to our thread , and Julie what an awesome nsv! All those of you who have lost weight this last week yay!!! Well I had a long night last night, one of my pills got stuck and I was miserable for 2 hours! I was so tired I wanted to cry, but I couldn't pb and it wouldn't go through . Meanwhile my scale is hateful right now so I am frustrated. It jumped up 3lbs overnight and is staying there! I don't know what the deal is, maybe I am eating too much sodium or maybe it's constipation, or maybe af is gearing up, not really sure :phanvan

  22. Wow Kat, thank you for sharing your story with us! Congratulations on you bandiversary! You are so inspirational and I appreciate your keeping an eye on all of us. You're our guardian band angel! I'm loving reading about all the nsv's going on, too! Pants going up & down w/out opening, no fast-fooding, and 1/2 portions providing satiety. Fantastic! I know there are more & more to come! I can't wait to watch everyone have these incredible moments... to me, they mean even more than scale numbers. Today is Day #1 of pre-op eating for me. 5 weeks from today I'll be getting banded! Having all of you as trailblazers is an amazing blessing. Thank you! Have a great day, everyone!

Kirsten we seem to be on the same plateau mine will last a few days then I will lose and then stall then gain a lb or two I prob have lost over 40 lbs at one point and keep gaining and losing the same ten lbs sassy no numb cream or shot here my fills really don;t hurt all that bad today is the 1st day I will go in without someone with me so I am a little nervous steph congrats on the nsv I love those kay i am a big soup eater but only thick soups
  24. VABandster

    Steady losers ;-)

STEPH...you think the scale not moving for 2 weeks is bad!!? Try 5 weeks! :-( I go next week for my 3rd fill and can't wait! Congrats on the NSV!!! That is awesome!!! Its weeks like this when my scale hasn't moved that I wonder if I'll ever get into those sizes, but I just have to keep the faith, right!? Sassy...I've never had numbing for my fills either, although I'm not sure how my new fill Dr. will do it next week, but I'll let ya know!
  25. StephC

    Steady losers ;-)

Bk - I'm glad you're getting a fill, 3 slices of pizza is too much, not that I think it would stretch your pouch bc I think its going on down through the band otherwise you'd have that full full feeling. Kay - soup is not a bad food, unless its creamy its pretty low cal but it doesn't stay with you as long. The same goes for salad, its just not gonna last 3-4 hours in there. I had a lean cuisine panini (kinda like a grilled cheese but with alot more stuff) for lunch yesterday, it went down good and actually kept me full 3 hours. It had around 20g protein. The whole bread thing is why I try to keep away from that stuff but I think I'll eat them again, I think half of it would have been great with a good fill. Speaking of fills... Sassy I've never been numbed, not an option at my Dr. I asked once and they said the same as Annie, you're getting a needle either way so whats the point? I made an appointment for tomorrow - I hope I'm doing the right thing, just a little tweak. Nate said about doing it under fluro but I said I really don't think thats necessary, so he's going to ask the dr if I can just have it in the office again. I'm really trying to eat foods that will stick around for a while and yet not get stuck. I hate being at the same weight for 2 weeks - it irks the poop outa me! I got on the scale again this morning and its still hovering in the 190's. I had myself psyched for the 80's and it feels unachievable. Even tho I'm a bit discouraged that the scale hasn't moved I still have to tell you a huge NSV - we ordered t-shirts for the track team and parents. I ordered a large - not x-large or 2x - just a plain old large - I haven't worn a large in YEARS! And I guess I was just hoping for the best. Yesterday I put it on and my size 14 jeans - jeans that weren't squishing my fat up and over the waistband - and I went out into public like that! Without a big shirt or sweatshirt to cover my rolls of fat. I honestly can't remember the last time I wore a size L - I've been trying to hide behind big baggy stuff for so long. One of the things I'm really going to try to do is get out of the baggy stuff. Theres a girl who lost a bunch of weight in town and everyone was saying she's lost too much - the whole blah blah blah bs - and I said well she apparently doesn't feel thin yet bc she's still wearing those big baggy t-shirts. So thats what made me decided I'm really going to work on that issue. Sassy - I just re-read your post, I can't believe they didnt' weigh you! Thats crazy! If I call in they ask my weight and chart it. I bet that you'll have to be aggressive with them over everything. Kay when is the wedding? The way you are exercising and with this new fill you could probably fit very comfortable in it within a week. Ok I haven't gotten on the dreadmill in 3 days so I guess I better get my butt moving and rev it up. Have a good day.
