  1. I'm two weeks post op vsg. I had horrendous pain on my left, it wrapped around my Body, even into my neck. I'm literally in a hospital bed right now being treated for a blood clot in my lung. Yours could just be healing, but I suggest you go see a doc. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. Welcome, I'm having my surgery on the 11th also. I wouldn't say the pre op sucks, I don't mind the shakes, but with me, my first week I was on vacation, then we have the 4th and parties, and on the 7th is our wedding anniversary. That is what has been hard for me. I do get to eat one meal per day, so it hasn't been to bad. But I could have made better choices on a few of those days. But I'm losing, so it is working. Good luck. Only one more week for us.
  3. I am having the Vertical Sleeve surgery done on July 11. Am I scared? Yes definately ... but the final results are worth it. I have fought this 2 week liquid diet for only one week now and there are days i think I'm going to go nuts, is it really the food or the fact that I can't have it? Actually, sacrificies will have to become a main part of My "new Skinny life". I too have young children and I fear the typical questions of a general antisetic. But everything will be worth it in the end. I have struggled with weight, now diabetes, for far too long. I am ready to make change and will keep all you others in my prayers as well. I am seeing Dr. Fearing with Malley Weight Loss Center in Overland Park, KS So far so good!
  4. I am 2 months post-op, so far doing ok, lost 38 pounds since started 2 weeks pre-op liquid diet. HW 241, CW 209, but always constipated, does anyone have any suggestion? Thank you all. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. I experienced constipation until I was about 6 weeks post op. I'm now at 9 weeks and finally regular again. My doctor told me it was safe to use Miralax and also Milk of Magnesia. Some days when my constipation was really bad, it took more than just Miralax and I needed the MOM too. Those 2 things really helped me a lot.

    A horrible night...

I had the same thing 3 weeks ago, it was awful. Lasted 12 hours then I put myself on liquids for 2 days. Take it easy and life will get better.

don't worry about gaining weight at this point. you're on liquids at first because your stomach was swollen from the surgery. as the swelling goes down, your stomach basically goes back to it's normal shape and size since you haven't had a fill. seriously... eat while you can because as you start getting fills, that WILL change. the hardest thing i've dealt with over the past 1.5 years since my surgery is the limited portion control. while my stomach is satisfied with 3-4 ounces of food at one meal, my head feels like i haven't had enough. so mine is more of a mental torture than a physical one. i WANT to eat more than a 1/2 slice of pizza. i WANT to be able to eat a bagel. i WANT to be able to eat a normal sized meal instead of 1/2 of a kids meal. good luck on your journey!

Is it normal to be so tired...

I'm sure being exhausted within the first week or so after surgery is completely normal. Try not to worry so much and don't be afraid to call your surgeon with any questions you may have.
  9. Hubby and I are 3 months after vsg. Once you get past the first month you will be able to find out that you will be able to eat plenty foods, just small amounts. B'fast was eggs and toast, lo car slimfast shakes. chicken salad and Soups. We could not eat jello! We would tell everyone interested in that this is the best thing for you to do for your family.
  10. Hey all, Went to NUT today. Felt like a pop quiz. What are you eating, are you taking Vitamins, are you getting Protein, hows the Water intake, are you tracking? Not sure I left with any knew knowledge, except that pre op testing showed I was already very low in VIT D (32). She weighed me and said, down 12. And walked to her room.. where is my BOOYAH!! thats one of my toddlers!! PMSL! That is 26 pounds in 3 weeks.. without trying specifically to lose, just following the plan and getting protein. I am feeling cranky but I think Auntie Flow may be about to visit and this darn seroma over the hernia repair is the size of a grapefruit and it HURTS! Good news is the practice manager has put me in with the surgeon tomorrow for a wound review and hopefully will get some relief from the seroma.

    Feb Sleevers-What Are You Eating?

I was sleeved 2/13 and I am eating soft foods: chicken/tuna/salmon mixed with mayo, cottage/cheddar/sandwich cheese, refried Beans. I even ate a little spaghetti with meat sauce on Sunday and dang, it was good! I am eating 800 to 900 calories a day, and getting 50 to 70 grams of Protein with no protein supplements. Eating slowly is important so that "uh oh" feeling doesn't surprise me. I still can't tolerate eggs and I love them :-( I go to my 2nd post-op visit next Tuesday and they're going to draw blood to make sure I am doing well. So, we'll see. I feel fine physically, just a bit tired. I haven't lost more than a pound this past week but I figure my body is just taking a breather :-)
  12. I didn't have it but then again i didnt have a bowel movement for the first 3 days.

    Just got sleeved!

Welcome and congratulations on your sleeve. As I was told by my surgeon hydration is most important the first two weeks, so sip, sip, sip. I am 31/2 weeks out and am only managing 40 gm protein. The burping is hard. Sometimes I have to stand up and rub my tummy like a baby lol. It gets better.

    Restriction?

I feel the same way. I was put on soft food (1/4 cup) 1 week out. I stop at 1/4 cup but I am also worried because I do not feel any restriction either.

i have the same question - i'm being banded july 5 and practically live in my backyard pool with my 5 year old son - hope we can get in the pool soon after!! would settle for 2 weeks post surgery max!
  16. Congrats, I'm 5 weeks out and it's been a bit rough, but today I was able to drink out a water bottle and it not hurt me. For some reason I take in too much air and today I passed a huge hurdle. It's hard to go out in public carrying a one ounce med-cup and I thought I was going to be on those things forever.

    Got approved!

I had my last appointment of my 6 month supervised diet last Tuesday on Wednesday they submitted all the paperwork to insurance. I was told it would take about 2 weeks for a response from them. Well its now Monday..less than a week later and I received an email from my surgeons office saying that the surgery authorization got approved and I'm all set for surgery which will be on August 24th! I'm so nervous, anxious, happy, scared..everything combined! Now I have to tell my dad which is going to be a real challenge because he is against this! He's been against it since the beginning and I'm terrified to tell him I'm having my surgery in 3 weeks!!! I think I'm more scared of telling him than I am of the actual surgery lol..thanks for listening!!! ☺

    =(

For me the pre-op diet wasn't the worst. It was the 4 weeks of liquids and soft foods that I had to be on after surgery. The protein shakes and consistency of the blended food grossed me out after a while. Although your hunger will be little to none after surgery, the liquids just get old. The happiest part of my surgery experience was going to regular solid foods. Ahhhh it's a breeze after that. So consider this pre-op diet the "easy part". That after-surgery liquid stage is the real sucky part. Sorry to be a downer.

    More NSV's

I found a black dress yesterday. Whew! I was able to buy it a size smaller. It's a bit more fashionable too, with its little flare at the bottom. This morning, of course, I put the dress on. I selected a blouse to go over the dress. I put it on and walked to the mirror. The shirt was too big, it looked ridiculous. So, I walked back to the closet and got a second shirt (same size) and looked in the mirror again. The second shirt looked just as bad. LOL. My husband is waiting on me at this point because we carpool. I walked to the closet and got a third shirt, this time a size smaller. It looked great. So, that was my first official "clothes too big" moment. w00t! He He, when I walked out of the bedroom, my husband gave me that "look" that I took too long. I laughed and said I had to try on 3 shirts to find one that wasn't too big. He smiled and said "thats great reason to take so long".

    Here we go!!

I'm three weeks out of surgery today. I've lost 17 pounds but have kind of stopped losing for the last three days. All of a sudden, I am able to eat larger amounts of food. I've got to watch it and stick to the changes that I know I need to make. I've read a few posts that say people are concerned about getting the surgery in Mexico. I had my surgery done at OCA Hospital in Monterrey. It wish people could know how nice it really is and how much better the care is. I will go there if I ever need anything else done! This was such a life changing thing for me and I hope and pray it works for me.
  21. Stock in the e.r had short breath... My nurse got me in the e.r right away... This is scary 3 test waiting on my last result maybe stay in or go home praying 2 go home ..
  22. From the album: Changes

On my Birthday 3 months before i was Banded I didnt make it to the top of Dimond head
  23. I am currently on week 3 post gastric sleeve op and tbh I'm not a massive fan of puree food so been sticking to milk and soup. I've been away for a week so excited to weigh and it was only 1lb yet hardly eating anything. Could not eating enough cause weight loss to slow down? What's For Dinner?

It is so hard to wanna cook when you know you're not eating anymore than 4 or 5 ounces. You can eat it for the rest of the week or freeze left overs. My freezer is packed full off food it will take me 10 years to eat... pretty surgury hording. Ps wegmans has cauliflower "rice" in their veggie section.

    1st ENTRY!

Well I am putting in my 1st entry ... hopefully I will be able to keep up with this each day like I want to. I hope that these entries will one day be an inspiration to others as I have read entries and they have helped me. So my name is Appollonia if you can say that LOL I am 20 yr married female. I was banded on February 6th 2008. My 2nd birthday. First day I came home from surgery I felt like shit and a 1/2! But each day gets a little better. I am still sore and my abdomen aches but it's all good I am 26 pounds down total! And I hadn't seen the scale move in ages literally I was about 17 LOL maybe even younger it has only been going up for the pass 5 yrs! I am just so ready for a change and I can't wait to see the outcome of my hard work. Because I definetely plan on kicking my own ass in the gym LOL! But I am still supposed to be on liquids for 2 weeks but I cheated the past 2 days :crying: I feel bad ... but all I did was have musy soup I blended it in the blender and it was the equivalent of baby food LOL! But as of right now I am going to get back on track with my liquids it's only 2 weeks. I am going to get a lot of protein when I get paid on Friday and try to do a little bit of moving ... maybe some dancing ... turn on some music videos or something. :wink2: I wanna be down even more by the time I see the doc again I see him again on the 25th of Feb. But thanks for listening/reading everyone. Lots of Love and blessings and patience to those of you waiting to be banded!
