  1. I went clothes shopping yesterday for the first time in about 10 years. It was exhausting! I tried on so many pants. I don’t know what fits anymore. I've been wearing size 40 stretch waist band for the last 6+ years. So I started at size 36, then 34, then 32(tooooo tight). So I tried on 33 and some fit me. But for the first time in about 12 years I actually bought pants that did not have an elastic band in the waist. Woo Hoo! For the first time in many years my pants aren't baggy in the butt or hips. Thank you to my little lapband friend. tmf
  2. A big NSV for me today! Any gal a size 14W or up knows the drill-- you are either shopping in the basement or the attic, next to the dishes and baby clothes. Today, I spent two hours in a strange place called the Missy department! I bought two pairs of pants and it was surreal. Probably kind of silly but it just felt so weird. I kept waiting for someone to say, "you're too fat to be here" but I was just shocked that stuff fit!! Go me!
  3. You know SV's are great, but NSV's are truly the best!!! Good for you....

Losing patience, where did it go?

Interesting topic... I find it interesting and amusing that you are speaking up for yourself and recognizing that in the past you would have chosen to eat. I would call that an NSV, for sure. I might also suggest that your replies may not be as harsh as you think. Cruel is never good, but heartfelt and honest is... As you noted, so many of us have spent so much time energy and focus on the care of others without EVER expecting anything back, and thank God, we have been given the chance to rectify this. Embrace your inner "Tawanda" (Kathy Bates, Fried Green Tomatoes reference), she will mellow out and find her groove!

    Shrinking Fingers....

    Yay! That's a spectacular NSV.

    Reflecting

You are doing so great!!!! Congrats, I love all of your NSV's!!!!
  7. I know advice from a preop probably isn't helpful, but maybe now is a time to focus on all the NSV and stay off the scale until you can see some victories else where as well. I've been tracking your progress and I admire you! Its great that you being proactive, but you will get there. Thanks for posting.

    Closing Account

I tend to think ppl are 'focused' on numbers simply b/c they help us gage our progress. They are not the most important thing nor are we just numbers..but they do help us see another part of the picture so to speak. Those NSV really do matter ... you can't put how you feel into a number or all of your success. At the same time dont be so hard on the number crunchers lol

    Another NSV today

Went to a consignment shop today and found this cute 3/4 length cotton shirt, it was so me, size 2X, just knew it would fit because it was Croft & Barrow from Kohl's and althought I love Kohl's their brands run small on me unlike your more expensive stores like Dillards or Macy's but I went ahead and tried it on, well with disappointment it was too big but on the otherhand joy joy joy, too big right? Needless to say I left with nothing. Guess I should hit Kohl's to see about 1X's on sale...I see I need to shop. Oh and another one, bought a bra yesterday, size 38DD, instead of a 40DD, I was wearing a 44DD when I started. I really wanted to buy the 38D but couldn't afford the Wacoal bra and didn't have time to try it on so I stuck with what I tried on.

    I'm a size.... WHAT?!?!

Size 14 is one of my dream NSVs! I was that big when I met my husband 34 years ago and haven't looked back since. I really, really want to walk into a "regular" store and take advantage of the sales that are always so much better than the ones offered for plus sizes. You are amazing! You must be so happy.

    "Oh I've only lost..."

I reached the lost 58/ 58 more to go stage a couple of days ago and even though I get stopped multiple times at work about my weight I still find it hard to not say I have ONLY lost 58. Its actually 74 from my highest but it is hard to not feel like it should be gone in a *snap*, even though I know like @@MrsKarenC2008 said the weight gain didn't happen in a *snap*. that's why I really appreciate my NSVs - those make it REAL!

    Stall From Hell

I have had a very long stall too. I seem to be stuck at 204 lbs. At first I panicked because I felt the old "here I go again" and the inevitable gain. But a week passed and another and then a second week and a third I lost 2 lbs. and agian I stall. It seems different to me now, somewhere along the line I realized it isn't the same. I won't regain it and if I have hit the weight I will be so be it. It isn't where I wanted but it sure isn't where I was. I am no longer hungry, I am no longer worried about wiping out a hip on a downward slope on my bike. I eat well and carefully and I have not lost much hair at all. I enjoyed an NSV the other day when I was finally prodded into shopping and I went into Old Navy and bought two "L" tops...They fit. The size 16 pants will be very loose soon. I am somehow, at least for right now, content with the loss I am experiencing. If I loose 2-3 lbs a month that is fine by me. I want more and I am working on it. Onderland is where I plan to reside. For now I am content to coast along after some very hard fought for victories. Keep my new good habits and stay active. Hope this helps!

    Halloween NSV

What a wonderful NSV!!! Congratulations . . . I've had a wonderful journey as well. . . I've lost tons of weight, feel so much better and get A LOT of compliments from folks who haven't seen me in years! It's so great to be able to fit into small spaces, fit comfortably into a plane seat, and walk up a flight of stairs without dying! Once again, congratulations and keep up that fabulous work!!!!
  20. Hi all, My surgery was 3 weeks ago today....I can go up and down stairs with ease.....I have a lap!!!! But the greatest is I can go off one of my high blood pressure meds!!! Yipee! This takes determination and resolve and some short term sacrifice but the rewards are worth it! Thanks for all the support! Tracy W.

    unexpected NSV

    Great, any NSV is great!
  22. It's been six months since the surgery. I've lost 73 pounds (but have actually been 99 pounds heavier than I am now). I'm still not in onederland, but I'm approaching it. The NSVs have been wonderful. People are noticing not only the difference in my weight, but also the difference in my level of energy. I feel great! A few small NSVs - sitting in a booth this week and not worrying if I'd fit! Realizing that I no longer get in a weird position to tie my shoes! Wearing some tops that I never imagined I could fit in again. Feeling kind of normal sized, even though I know I'm not, yet. Spending a Saturday running errands instead of hiding in my house. BIG NSV - allowing someone that I knew in high school to see me. This has been one of my biggest neurotic things, not seeing people from high school. But I went somewhere last week where I KNEW I'd see this person and be seen and it was not only fine, it was great! BIG NSV - dancing in public. In my job, one of the things I do is take people out to Cajun dance. I always watched, but I always felt that nobody wants to see the fat lady on the dance floor, but last week I danced. And yesterday at a Mardi Gras event, I did the zydeco waltz and the two step on the big stage. IN FRONT OF PEOPLE. AND I WAS GOOD! (Well, my partner was excellent, so he made me look good.) There are more, but I need to get ready for work.
