How Many Miles Can You Do?

I can walk and do the elliptical for many many miles as my body's more used to it. I'm cross-training now and my new challenge is running! I've been doing 5 minute intervals with my lifting and do that 4-5 times throughout the workout. Breaking it up into 5 minutes bursts at a 5.0 pace has been awesome for my weight loss. Now, my next goal is to do a 5k! I just hit the 1 mile mark (continuous running) so I'm on my way! It was only a few weeks ago that I struggled with a quarter mile. No aches or pains... just a little sore in the left hamstring sometimes. Yay for NSV's!!!

First thing, Congratulations on the NSV and the weight loss!!! I didn't feel tighter around TOM, but I have heard of others who do. Maybe wait a week until after TOM to see if the restriction goes away. It probably will if you didn't have it before.

    Road to "TWOterville"

hehehe Molly, you're SO right! I bought myself 4 pieces of jewelry. I bought a big snowflake brouche and the addison necklace, a silver angel charm to put on my charm bracelet and the Charm It ankle bracelet. I'm having a party June 21st so I can get some of the more expensive stuff. I had an NSV at the party. I can now wear regular size bracelets! I tried on an 8" and it was way too big. She said "wow you have small wrists!" I said "Nobody has ever said that to me before!!!"

Hi KayDoll! We miss you, too! Glad all is well with you, girlfriend! Just a quick NSV. I already told y'all how I'm sporting a pair of slacks that were too tight 2 weeks ago. I got three compliments from three separate people in three different situations that they can tell I'm "working out" "getting skinny" or "looking really good lately! What's your secret?!" I wanted to bust out with my own nat-inspired version of "Rump Shaker." HA! N.

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

GOOD MORNING ALL!!!! I had problems editing the page yesterday so I didn't get to add AnnieMac and this morning I see we have a new member.. HELLO TekyMOM! I tried on a pair of my old BLACK levis 515 midrise boot cut today...... they DON'T fit YET... but I can get them over my booty.. I figure in a couple weeks I should be getting close to buttoning them.... Pamela: congrats on winning the salsa cook off at school! I've been eating higher calories than I should, but still smaller portions. We are going out of town Wednesday night WITHOUT kids! I'm really looking forward to it... it will be a true VACATION MODE test! ONE NSV .... last night DBF went to Dairy Queen and I got NOTHING.. (he got a large shake AND a large Blizzard) and he also just went up a size in jeans...... 36 to 38.. OK.. let me go try and add the changes......... (the smiley face thing it does when you edit is a real PITA)

WELCOME TO ONEderland TERRI!!!!:Banane43: Denise I LOVE YOUR TICKER! I may copy it  Judy: I bet you have a visit from the WHOOOSH fairey soon and drop 5 lbs at once! Kat: You are continually in my thoughts especially when I try on the clothes you sent me! I can now get those shorts on over my booty and button them.. (I am WAYYYY more hippy and thick in the legs than you were so the fact that I can now get them on is a real NSV!) AnnieMac: I will get you added asap! Morning Gr8! It is raining cats and dog this morning which means that the boys will be at each others throats shortly.. yippeeee for me (not) I DID eat some junk yesterday, but not a lot and it was all soft! I had a new low so I'm relieved. I fixed scrambled eggs for breakfast and for lunch will most likely be another 1/2 burger leftover from last night......... I LOVE MY BAND! Even UNFILLED it is helping! Have a great day!

    NSV, Sort of....

I am losing weight at a nice pace, and I'm SO happy that I have my band! I have a situation here that I just can't wrap my mind around. My size 20 jeans....some of them are HANGING on me, so much so that they aren't really comfortable. I tried on my size 18's, and they are still way too small. I dug in my closet some more, and found some more size 20's that I didn't know I had. I tried them on, and I can't get them buttoned. WTF?? I am getting frustrated that I have NO jeans that fit me right now, and I really don't want to go buy any (even at Goodwill or DAV) because I know that I won't need them very long. At least that's what I'm hoping. WHY is it that there is such a huge size difference in my 18's vs. my 20's? Oh, and the 20's that are too small are THE SAME EXACT BRAND as the ones that are hanging on me. I understand that the cut makes a difference, but SHEESH! Just had to get that out. I'm really frustrated about it. :phanvan

I am already getting into some of my old clothes... and todays NSV was that some of my underwear fit me again! I am sooooooooooo close to retiring the uber big granny panties that i've been wearing as of late.............. I am full after 1/2 of a bunless burger and KNOCK ON WOOD I feel totally fine. I have to go ice a birthday cake... but I'll add everyone before I go!

OMG!! ladies.... I went shopping today. Tried on 15 pairs of pants... found one I liked. Went back to look for more. When I came back in the fitting room, I hung up the pair of pants I'd wanted to keep. That is when I noticed the tag.... :Banane43: I thought for sure I must have accidently laid my pants that I wanted to keep down and picked up another pair accidently when I saw the SIZE! (I thought, "now THAT CAN'T be right.") So, I tried them on again.... NO, it WAS the same pair of pants. They fit perfectly. The first time I tried them on, I thought they were 12's... NOPE!!! THEY WERE  10'S!!! I can wear 10's!! OK, so I know it is just this particular brand (more than likely) BUT I will still take it. I dont care if it is just this brand of pants. I can still fit into any 10's... and that does it for me! I havent lost much weight lately, but I must be losing inches!! yeah NSV!:clap2:

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Family went to a local chinese restaurant this evening. I had: Egg drop soup with a few of the soup noodles soaked in it Mandarin chicken (small bites of chicken, broccoli and onion with garlic brown sauce) I asked the waiter to be sure they OVERCOOKED my veggies. Oh, and we told him we didn't want the rice. The chicken was small bites, the veggies were well cooked and fork-tender (though I did only eat the heads of the broccoli). It all went down well and I didn't finish but about 3/4 cup of it...I was very well-satisfied (even though I have very little restriction). I am looking forward to solids so I can have something that won't move through so easily. As I ate this evening, I could feel some of the food moving on down. I did stop when I no longer felt hunger. I didn't keep eating til I was full...NSV!!!! We can do this!!! If I can, I know EVERYONE else can!!!! Have a good weekend! DOn't know if I'll be able to check in before Monday morning.

jill - are you a smidge depressed? That will make you not want to get up and move. I know you had a huge trauma in your life. I posted a really good article in the Yahoo group about getting back on track - maybe that will help you? Just promise yourself you'll do something. 10 minutes of movement is better than none. What a hippo-crit I am. I started to walk today, then remembered I hadn't gotten anything for my friend's baby shower, so we went to babies R Us instead. When I got home I was sleep on my feet. I'm in bed about to turn out the light. 6am is going to come early. We had KFC for dinner. I ate 2 boneless wings and was STUFFED. I think the food I ate today was too soft and thats why I could eat so much. I'm going back to chicken breast and turkey sausages. Tomorrow I'll be walking a lot, so I'm good then. I'll just have to limit my intake. I calculated my intake today at 800 calories, so I don't feel bad. Steph - WTG on the NSV. I can't wait until ppl start noticing my loss again. My fat ass plateaued for 2 months. LOL But I'm going on this diet called the UltraFit plan. It's for body builders. Nothing but proten and complex carbs. Hey, I'll post that one, too. I'm starting on Monday. It's restrictive, but as I recall, I lost 10 pounds my first week on that jawn. Uh huh. Yeah. 2 weeks of UltraFit and I'll be on my way! I think I'm delirious, no kidding. Sassy - glad you're feeling good about yourself again. It's SO important. Hey, I tried to guzzle Water earlier. I forgot that I couldn't. I had a huge PB - all water. It was gross. I won't be doing that again. b'man - sorry about your hair loss, but I'm glad that you have a thick head of hair to begin with. I've always envied your waves. So Dr. C thinks your phenomenally fast weight loss is the culprit, eh? Go figure. I think docs don't know what causes it, and they just speculate. SweetHot (I love "sweetheart," Steph!) - See about a fill. If you're eating hanks of meat and are still ravenous 2 hours later, you've not gotten enough restriction. Have a great day tomorrow, ladies! We're taking the train to Chicago to attend my friend's baby shower. I'll be back either late at night, or on Sunday. Keep up the good work! WHERE IS KAYDOLL!? N.

Edie - good for you! Maria - GREAT NSV'S! Be careful with your asthma, glad you getting better! I thought I would share my progress phote with my January Band sisters & brothers! By the way, where are all the guys? Marjon9 - you haven't been here in ages! All you lurkers, you gotta let us know how your doing! The first picture is the night before surgery, the 2nd picture is my 3 mo. band birthday pic. Can you see a difference?
  14. We had a garage sale the first weekend in Feb. We made $800!!! And now, you can actually put 2 cars in my garage (did you know that is what they are used for???). Have fun! Pizza and salsa update: I am in the lead, but still don't know if I won. I've sampled the others, but did not over do it. As far as the pizza...the kids are eating now, and I had the cheese and pepperoni from one small slice. Tasted gross after my 0 sugar lunch of chix. beans and cheese (yes 0 sugar, 20 carbs...great for lunch!) I'd say that is a NSV! Also, I didn't mention that it is DONUT day here at work. These people are evil, but I passed them up too! woohoo
  15. That's our Tracy... out and about spreadin' the gospel of the band to all those who will come near and listen! Good job! And great NSV's... I really think that's what it's all about... the scale be d'mned!... it's new habits/behaviors/living! (ha ha... I typed "new hobbits" ha ha!) I am off 'til Sunday... am lugging a "carload of sh*t" (as dh puts it) down to my Mom's house for her neighborhood's annual yard sale all day tomorrow. I am *not* a yard-saler at all... don't shop them & have never held one... so what to take & how to price it all is a bit foreign to me... but I've just got to get rid of some of this stuff... and some of it is nice... kids' clothes & outgrown toys, etc... so we'll see how it goes. And dd is going to have a lemonade/cookie stand, too. We've decided that any/all $$ raised will go into our "Walt Disney World" vacation can (yes, literally it is a WDW Holiday Coffee can!) (empty, duh) for a future trip... maybe I should start a "Shrinkin' Violets Cruise" can??? Have a super weekend everyone!!

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Ok... so I am now known as the crazy lady who chased down the doc at the hospital wanting COFFEE.. LOL Seriously though he said I was doing fantastic and ok'd me to go to the next level of food... (Soft foods) fish, eggs, cottage cheese, soft pasta's etc... and next week I get to move on to "regular" food! I saw a young gal sitting in the lobby looking at me pensively and clutching her consultation folder.. she was shy but I knew she was curious so me and my big mouth I started a conversation with her... we talked til she was called back... ..... then I saw one of the ladies I was banded with.. this lady had a BMI of around 80+ and in the hospital she threw a big ol honking fit at the barium swallow.. she was miserable...... so when she walked through the door I was unsure if I should say anything............ BUT I DID ANYWay.. I went up to her and said.. "HI, I am the crazy lady from the hospital that was banded with you"..... She was vERY friendly and said for two days she was whipped but she felt great..... I told her about my bean incident and she laughed... she even moved over by me and we happily chatted til it was my turn to go back. I wasn't really quiet because I KNEW that others that were curious were listening too...... LOL So THEN after having the doc tell me I could move up and that I was doing fantastic....... I decided to treat myself and I stopped by Quik Trip and got a frozen cap....... (yes I KNOW!!!!!) but listen.. I was very proud of myself. 1. I bought a small even though it was MORE expensive than the 32 oz they had on sale! 2. I drank exactly HALF and put the other HALF in my freezer.... BIG NSV! Househuntress: I like spicey stuff too... but it gives me the worst heartburn so I stay away. OH and I almost forgot.......... I was able to SCHEDULE 4 Fill appointments!!!!! June 4th, July 2nd, July 30, August 27! WHOOOOOOHOOOOOO!

    January Bandsters???

Good morning! Hey Audree! Good to see you back here! I thought I'd post some of my NSVs, seeing as that's been the topic lately... 1. Down 2 sizes in pants. Wow! 2. Can hook my bra on the inner-most hooks. 3. No longer huff and puff while putting on socks or tying shoes. 4. Can make it up a flight of stairs without wanting to die. So far, so good! I agree with Tonya -- exercise is so important. I can't wait to get back to it. I've been away from the gym because of a big asthma attack and some other health issues. I gotta get healthy! Maria

I'm there too guys, I think I'm getting too comfortable in my own skin because last month I only lost 2lbs But hey, its better than none I guess. I've been focusing on school, I have my last final tomorrow and then I hope to be able to focus on ME more. I bought a tankini bathing suit for this summer and I love it so thats my NSV for the month Anyone else started shopping for that yet??

    January Bandsters???

NSV's - 1. I can cross my legs 2. When I take a bath, my butt doesn't touch both sides of the tub 3. I can wear a size L top now, in the regular section, I'm out of the Womens 4. I have more energy, and am waking up before the alarm 5. Losing weight has made me crave exercise, I cannot miss a session or I go crazy (I was at the gym last night until 10:30 to make sure I got my exercise in) 6. Food no longer controls me 7. I can push a plate back without eating it all - no longer belong to the "clean plate club". 8. My kids keep telling me how skinny their mom is 9. I actually don't look all that bad in pictures any longer - before, all I noticed was my fat hips, now I don't. 10. I no longer feel like a failure

Checking in here to see what I have in store for me...... Yenken: I laughed about your description of your little brother! LOL that is very very very sweet of him to notice your loss. BIG NSV Keythra: I've been watching your posts with all the other health complications you've gone through since banding..... DANG woman!!! on the makeup front..... about 2 years ago my skin changed and now all drug store stuff makes me break out... and my eyes swell shut. it is the WIERDEST thing.. I had to change to Clinique but still only wear mascara on special occasions because even though they don't swell with clinique they get really itchy after a few hours.

My fill is working like a mug! (remember when people used to say "like a mug?") Anyhow, I have to sip slowly, otherwise liquids get backed up. JUST LIKE WHEN I WAS FIRST BANDED! I'm hoping that this was the tightening I needed. No more gobbling steaks and other junk. I went for a walk yesterday w/my little one. I felt really good about myself, too. We'll do it again today - except I'll put his little busy butt in the stroller instead of letting him walk, too. Yesterday was SUCH a stressful day. I'll have to tell you about it in Yahoo, since I don't like to post work details on the open net. Needless to say, people have lost their damn minds. I'm most proud of myself for not self-soothing with chocolate. (laugh) It's MAY you guys! Shit. By month's end I better be closer to 230 than to 235. And I better be one size smaller. Claudia - how are you doing, baby girl? I'm so sorry your friend wasn't honest with you. I have been there. It's heartbreaking and hurtful and so incredibly unnecessary. I hope you're feeling better. JillyJill - how's your little diva? I was thinking about her yesterday as I was walking with the little man. How are YOU doing? Has she healed up? Steph - That email made me howl. I'm not kidding - I had tears in my eyes! I'm going to send that to my girlfriend at work, but not through work email servers. Way to go on the NSV. No one has said "you look skinny" to me in a while. That's cuz I haven't lost shit and am looking fat again. LOL Annie - I love your May goal. I'm right there with you. I have to be a bit more stringent with my May goal. No sugar, no alcohol. And yes, I'd love to exercise 20 or more times this month. Additionally, I have GOT to get back to journaling my food intake, Water intake and exercise output, planning EVERYTHING ahead of time. VaB - I'll get one of my people to scan these articles for me today/tomorrow. Posting them in the FILES section of the Yahoo group is a good idea. "I CAN'T HEAR YOU" made me giggle. YES WE ARE! ((laughing)) bk's boy had the b'day. My DS's b'day is in June. And no, we'll not be celebrating here at my place! LOL bk my love - how are you doing? How's the tummy? How's the job? How's the hubby? What are you doing for the boy's b'day? I was thinking of themes for my son's b'day in June, but have no idea. Personally I thought Happy Feet would be cute, but.... we'll see. B'Man - Ooooh, honeybunch. I wish I could make it all better for you. Purge that mofo from your life, and take time to heal and cry and mourn and believe that you won't always be affected by his memory. One day he'll mean nothing to you. Way to go on running a full mile - you can run farther than I can! Last week at the hotel, I ran on the treadmill - 3 minutes. I thought I was going to pass the fuggout. ((laughing)) I also decided not to join a gym yet. I am going to kick my own butt on this elliptical and get back into the swing of exercise. Sassy - Glad you got your fill! Can you tell a difference? How do you feel? What did the doctor say? I have also found that it helps to lie... er, exaggerate when you talk to your surgeon about needing a fill. "I'm hungry ALL THE TIME." "I Can eat a full loaf of bread." LOL "I sucked down a filet for dinner." I hope this one helps you! Okay - it's 6:30 and it's definitely time for me to get up and get moving. UGH gotta work again today. I feel like I have to put on a suit of armor to go to work now. It's like a warzone. Hope I didn't miss anyone - love you guys! Stay tuned for articles! N.

Congrats on your decision on what to tell the sis-in-law and kudos to your DH for supporting your decision....I've got a DH like that too! Does anyone else have any NSV's to share? NSV...NSV...NSV My little brother came to visit me today. Well, he's 26 but little to me. Anyway, he was showing off his new car to me and in the middle of him talking about all the great features the car came with, he just stopped. He gave me this look, then said;" Yenken, you really look like you've lost weight." My family does not know about my band. I told a bunch of my friends about but no one in my family. I just couldn't believe it. My li'l ole chasin the girls, need to have a benz but no furniture in his apartment, brother of mine noticed. I had one of the Kool-ade grins . That really meant a lot to me.

Sunshine2-Good for you! How wonderful! I just love the band. shues138- What a wonderful NSV! That is great! I just wanted to check in with everyone. It has been 3 months and 2 days since I was banded and I have lost 38 pounds. I am addicted to exercising. I really love going to the gym and almost feel bad on days when I can't get there. Anyway I had my 2nd fill this past Thursday. I have a total of 1.5cc's in my 4 cc band. My doctor is on the conservative side, but as long as I keep losing, it's OK. I am very happy with the band. Have a good night- Gigi
