    My Journey

As of yesterday, surgeons office couldn't locate my chart/file...today got email from them stating they located my chart. Dr. Dunshee had it and had discussed my case with his partners. We are awaiting dictation, then we will submit to insurance. They''ll let me know next week when they submit it. So here for the past 2 weeks I thought I was waiting to hear from insurance and they haven't even sent it off yet! So...at the rate they're going, it will probably be another 2 weeks or more before I hear anything.....Grrrrrrrr 9/1/12 Ok had my surgery August 24th in the afternoon, came home the next morning, since then I've been trying to follow my diet & exercise plans and keep from killing anyone...LOL. Today I had my first real NSV (for me anyway) I was able to walk to the end of the street & back without any rest breaks (that's a first!) Total of 8 blocks...1 week out of surgery! I know I couldn't have done that before surgery...cause I tried many times!

Went to see my doctor today....

Congratulations, you look incredible. Getting off of some of the meds is the best NSV though. Keep up the good work.

    Wahoo Nsv For Me!!

You look gorgeous Christy! Congratulations on your new shirt. It looks wonderful on you. Way to go! (Barb, NSV means "non scale victory" -- i.e. those little (and not so little) things other than the number on a scale that show progress as you've lost weight. My most recent one is being able to walk straight into my narrow-doored bathroom rather than hind of angling my hips to pass through. I'm no longer "wide as a door"!!)
  5. Today I was very excited I got out of the shower and the towel touched around my body like it went all the way around and touched the other side LOL. AND I bent at the waist and tied my shoes ( I used to have to put my foot up on something to tie them or leave them so loose I could slip them on tied. I am very excited! This sums it up for me...............................

    My little NSV's

That's awesome!! Congrats! NSVs are so wonderful!
  7. Just over 6 mths (banded Sept 26/12) down 56 pounds and I played tennis with my husband and daughters while we were on our spring break holiday in Fairmont, BC!! I was running back and forth...yes running lol I couldn't believe it! Smacking or trying to smack the ball back and forth it was so much fun I was sad when our hour was up on the court!! Can't wait to do it again:) never thought I'd be able to say that I was running lol still have a ways to go but these little successes make it so much more believable that it really is possible :0)
  8. Great NSV! Congrats!!!!!!
  9. Today, I realized my yoga pants are just too big to wear in public anymore. Seriously and ridiculously baggy. I decided to go to the gym so I dug to the bottom and found a pair of workout shorts. They are like biking shorts. Worn only once cuz they were too tight and embarassing to wear. You know, one of the many pieces of clothing you "hope" to be able to wear someday. Well they fit and very comfortably! I went to the gym, worked out and finally felt like I fit in at the gym. It was awesome! I love Almanzo, my sleeve.....lol

    NSV

This week I realized I had 2 NSV. The first one is my 8yr old can hug me (at my thickest belly part) and reach his arms all away around me. No more half hugs here! I almost cried when I realized he can now fully hug me, not just part of me. My 2nd victory is being able to have a regular shower towel wrap around me and cover all my bits. No more need to use a beach towel! I might be at a stall right now, but these NSVs are encouraging me! Sent from my VS995 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Funniest NSV yet!

OKC, you have a very handsome son! Congrat's on your NSV!
  13. I was in the shower yesterday morning scrubbing with my body poof and for some reason I guess my fingertips were rubbing against my skin too. Well I was washing just below my left breast when I felt a hard lump I have never felt it before so I pushed and held my arm up pushed again and thought OMG!! **As a side note it is my nature to freak out over everything and anything So I run to my husband, Water everywhere shower still on screaming FEEL THIS!! THIS IS NOT RIGHT! He looked at me and said "Honey, it is your rib." I was like what??? Then he says, "feel the other side, see a rib." Trust me they aren't sticking out, but before no matter how much poking or prodding I couldn't find a bone I have BONES in here whoo hoo!
  14. NSV -- I attended my niece's bridal shower! I am 10 weeks post-op and I have rejoined life. A year ago I probably would have figured out how to NOT GO to the bridal shower because of so many things--self-image, feeling judged, discomfort, etc. Yesterday, I was confident and it made my niece and sister-in-law tear-up with happiness to have me there. During the sit-down luncheon, I was able to eat a little of almost everything. It was a beautiful vegitarian luncheon but I had a Protein Shake before going into the party so was comfortable I would get what I needed. I only had one person comment on how little I was eating. The amazing thing that hit me was when we were preparing to sit at the table -- I chose a seat in the middle -- not on the end. I have never done this before! I have always sat at the end so that I wouldn't overflow into someone else's space. Yesterday, I was "normal". Thinking back on it, I was still probably one of the larger guests at the party, but that wasn't even an issue for me as it would have been in the past. It was a very special day and I am grateful that I didn't miss out on it. I'm also grateful for this always-inspiring forum!

    NSVs!

Lots of NSVs to report! 1. This morning I am taking out the trash and my neighbor (who I rarely talk to) comes out of her house saying I look great and saying "You lost a lot of weight!" She actually came out to compliment me-or being a nosey neighbor (which she is) she may have wanted to make sure she wasn't missing something! lol 2. My 25 year old daughter had to go out and her jeans were damp out of the drier so I let her borrow a pair of jeans that I just bought (size 16)! 3. Pretty much every day at work someone comments on my weight loss. I am a teacher and went to a school I use to work at and one of the students even said "Wow, you lost so much weight!" I am off today and will be visiting my mother who lives about an hour an a half away. She hasn't seen me in 2 months and that is the time that my weight loss has become more noticable-she doesn't know I had the surgery. It will be interesting to see what she says. She noticed I was losing weight in Aug/Sept. but now it is a lot more noticable!
  16. I hadn't planned on wearing "real" pants for another month or so, but today in Southern California is rainy with lightening and a bit chilly. Wearing my "summer" capri pull-on pants just didn't fit the bill nor do they pair well with my boots. So, I took a deep breath and walked to the section of the closet reserved for when I reach my 120 lb mark (I'm at about 105 lb loss right now). I put on the size 14 pants with a zipper and side pockets . . . AND THEY FIT! Yep, my name is Deann and I wear a size 14 pant! Down from a size 28! Just needed to share with people who "get it"! Thank you for being my support team!

    Eating Right While Traveling Internationally

I used to sit and watch tv while I chop because standing over the counter would hurt my back. Now I can stand and chop and cook to my heart's content without hurting. Yay NSVs! All of my friends are going to get so much fatter now from all the food I make for them lol.
  18. Yep! It is a great NSV, I agree with a lil vest underneath and away you go! You're looking great! Congrats x

I Fit In My Goal Dress!

Lissa - you look great! I agree with a cami - you could absolutely go out in it. I, too, love the Flexees brand. It is great to see you enjoying the sweet taste of an NSV. You give so much to everyone on this site, it is nice to see you having a victory and celebrating for yourself. Best of luck to you. Sharon
  20. Congratulations!.. I'm not trying to be dramatic but I teared up a little reading your NSV

What I found out in the shower

You are too funny! Congrats on rediscovering your ribs! Great NSV!
  22. Aprildawn, I'm 9 months out and still losing. Like others have said, it's not at the same pace, but I'm now seeing the results of my workouts more than I did before. I weigh now what you weighed at surgery day, so my BMI was quite a bit higher than yours...which means I've lost weight very quickly. I too stalled/slowed down for all of months 7 and 8, but I've added more exercise to my routine and the NSV's just keep on coming. I lost 3 pants sizes during that stall, lol. Good luck. Just keep exercising and following your plan and you'll get to goal much more quickly than you could possibly dream you will!!

    Sad Nsv

Congrats on the "BAD" NSV!! Look at it as an opportunity to have a "GOOD" NSV when you get to go shopping for new clothes! I LOVE SHOPPING!------ Which is evidenced by my massive amount of "old" clothes piling up around the house like Magsi. Any other ideas on what to do with those "old" clothes?? I have about 6 leaf bags of sizes 24-20 of clothes, some still with tags on them. I don't really know anyone that would wear that size. And I don't want to keep them because I feel like that would be a safety net for me, allowing me to hang on to them if I gain weight back. Kristin

    First Fill

And NSVs. Had my first till about an hour ago, they put 5cc in my 11cc band, it is really weird, I'm trying to drink a Protein shake and it is slow going. After 2 weeks of being able to eat and drink what ever I want this is new. I hope its good, I've been starving this last week. The NSVs, I had to buy a belt the other day, first time in 20 years. My boss has these chairs in her office that I HATED to sit it because it was such a tight squeeze and the metal sides would dig into my upper thighs, I sat in it this morning and while I still touch the sides, I wasn't crammed into the chair I fit. It turns out I'm down 28 lbs not 23, bad news I was heavier than I thought when I started. LOL, but its all good.
