    What is everyone eating?

I'm a week away from being 6 months out. Lately I've been eating nothing but chicken, turkey, fruits and vegetables! Been trying not to snack or eat any kind of breads/pastas. So far it's working out!
  2. I'm 3+ weeks away from my GBP surgery date. Had your surgeon put you on a regimen to reduce the size of your liver si
  3. I'm about 10 weeks out, and I'm still eating lots of greek yogurt, chicken breast, and Protein bars, and a daily Protein shake. I have eaten nuts a few times but they don't seem to sit well with me. I've also tried salads, and that was a terrible mistake. I'm SO tired of the SAME things every day. I do not like any kind of fish/seafood, so chicken it is, I guess. Even though I can eat more, I'm still not getting in the required amount of protein. I'm seriously struggling and need any advice or suggestions you may have!
  4. I just had my surgery jan 8 of this year, about 3 days ago I started experiencing this pain on my right side a little below my breastbone. A second look at it today, it a little swollen. Is this normal?
  5. Stacie- I am sorry for your lost. I just lost one of my Jack Russells two weeks ago--Checkers was almost 17 and the very first of the six JRTs that we've shared our lives with. PLEASE don't feel bad for eating. It's a manifestation of the grief you are experiencing. You'll gain control of your eating in time but for now you have enough sorrow without worrying about your diet. Rejoice in the 14 years you had with your sweet dog and that she died in your arms knowing you loved her.... Are you familiar with the story of the Rainbow Bridge? I won't copy it here because it always makes my cry, but just google it and you may take comfort from reading it. Laura
  6. Hang in there because as you progress with the food stages, this will go away. I am 7 weeks post op and on a normal diet. I don't get hungry unless its meal time, and even then, I have to make a conscious effort to eat. As you eat food with more "residue" you will feel satisfied longer and hunger will subside.
  7. Sx date was 03.06.18 and I am currently 8 days post-op. I’ve been following the Phase 1 process post-op on nothing but liquids (Protein Shakes, Broth, Water, Gatorade, and on occasions Jello-o) but I still feel hungry on occasions. So far I’ve lost 10pds but this is mentally draining especially being at home all day.. All my spouse and mother keep saying is be patient but I don’t think they realize how hard challenging it is when you see them continue their normal eating habits while your life consists of liquids liquids liquids... I’m IMpatiently waiting for Phase 2 to kick in lol [emoji30] I caught myself crying for a brief second yesterday of how tired I am of the protein shakes (especially since I did the 2 week pre-op liver shrinking diet) ... Anyone has had this struggle? HW: 255 SW: 248 CW: 238 GW: 150

Am I too old to have VSG

No you are definitely not too old. I am 68 now and am now almost 3 months post sleeve. I think I am losing slower than a lot of people but that comes with being older.

    Help first fill failed!

They always have problems finding me ! So, your not alone. Last time was about 6 sticks, and a Nurse not a Tech found it. They now have it figured at 3 fingers wide beneath my incision. Otherwise Fluoroscope works ! No problems at all. Hope this helps.

    throwing up

I can't handle a chicken breast either unless I grind it up first in the food processor. I take the chicken and shred it, add a can of mushroom Soup and rotel tomatoes. Cook together on top of the stove add pepper to taste. Surgery date 9/4/2013 HW 269 RYN 238, this week 203
  12. I am going to try this @fluffychix! I've read a few others used this method to break stalls post-op, so maybe it will help me. Thanks!
  13. So. I'm about 3 months post RNY and today I'm just not feeling right. Weak, dizzy, lightheaded and no energy. Yesterday I worked out hard at the gym, and didn't meet my goal of 64 ounces of water. Today, because I stayed in bed I also have not had a lot to drink, although Im trying. I'm wondering if I'm dehydrated. I also don't consime many calories because I have a stricture. I live mostly on protein shakes. I just want to go back to bed!! Any suggestions for what could be wrong? I do see my surgeon's PA on Tuesday. Thanks!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  14. Awful, awful time! Glad it is scheduled and I've survived the first 5 days of the pre-op diet, but 3:00 PM?! That will be a very long day. Anyone else have late surgeries? How'd the day go?

    Broccoli not friendly!

Ewwww! Bless your heart!!!! I'm so sorry you had to deal with that! I have wondered what sleevers would have happen with broccoli because like ouroborous, there aren't many veggies that I actually like. Brocolli, purple hull peas, salads and hominy are pretty much it so I don't know what I would eat after having the sleeve if those are problem foods. Maybe give it a few more weeks and try again. Is this the first time you've had something like that happen? Hope ya dont have to deal with it anymore because it does not sound like it was fun!! Ugh, you poor thing!!
  17. On Monday, I will be 12 weeks post op, and eating is a chore for me. I get so hungry, and then I smell wonderful-smelling food, but then when I eat, my stomach just feels odd and uncomfortable. There have been many times that, even though I felt really hungry, I would just drink a protein shake because it's easier than eating actual food. I chew the heck out of the food so there aren't large chunks going into my stomach. I probably don't eat as slowly as I should, but I try. I've read many people on here that say they are able to eat whatever they want with no problems. So, at this point in my journey, should I be feeling better while eating or will it be this way forever and this is just what I signed up for when I had the surgery? Just to clarify, this is one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life, and I have no regrets. Even if this is how my life will always be when it comes to food, I wouldn't change my decision at all!
  18. This stage is one of the toughest in my opinion as far as head hunger. We are just starting out and the lack of being able to eat real food really can mess with our heads. I literally cried one day when my husband ate an Egg McMuffin in front of me at like a week out. Wanna know the awesome part, though? It really does get easier to be around that stuff once you begin to eat more solid food and can actually chew something. You also start to feel more 'normal' again, being able to actually eat like a real person. Here's your mantra: This too shall pass.

    HELP!!! Im not losing...

I am insulin resistant, and wouldnt be surprised if I had PCOS when I was younger. I really watch my carbs. If I eat hardly any fruit or carbs I dont lose. Im really pushing the fish. I try to eat very few carbs, because they cause your insulin to spike and you can gain weight just from the excess insulin in your body. Im walking twice a day now and watching it and only losing about 1 lb a week as hard as Im trying. I have a fill this Sat.

    Do most of you diet?

I'm just about 8 weeks out from surgery, 25 lbs down, and have had one fill. I find that I do still have to take control, not so much WHAT I eat, but HOW OFTEN I eat. It's really hard to stick with 3 small meals. So yes, I diet to some extent.

    Fantastic Friday

I thought Tuesday was Wednesday, so this has been Friday for me too. Yea! 2 Fridays this week. I love Fridays. Now what was the question? Saw my eye dr this morning and she asked if i'd lost more weight from the last time I saw her (a month ago). Why yes, yes I have! :> I've not had a great week either, @@AlanaRN . I have Lyme-From-Hell and the antibiotics are KILLING me, but at least Im not in pain (just barfing). I feel for you with your kidney stones! I've bagged up my fat clothes but haven't been able to give them up yet. having been thru this once before I'm not quite ready to get rid of them yet, but they do pile up. Good for you guys for slamming the door in the face of recidivism. (One of my problems with lyme is my crappy memory. I can only remember 1 word for everything. Sometimes its big, sometimes its little, but there's a max of 1 for each concept anymore.)
  25. I am 8 weeks post op as of Wednesday and I have noticed over the past week or so a few minutes after I eat I get pretty dizzy... Has anyone else experienced this??
