=( what is going on here??!

thank you all for your great suggestions! it's all pretty much what i already knew, but it helped me realize that there isn't some magic suggestion out there... it basically boils down to plain old fashioned hard work! and so i have pushed my butt into gear and this past week, i lost 3.8lbs! *wiggles* i'm still not thrilled with the way things are going, but i'm seeing improvement in the way i look and feel... and for a totally female nsv, today i put on my cute black top and noticed that for the first time in a loooong time my boobs stuck out way over my belly! my belly used to be equal or even more so out there. THAT FEELS GREAT! i feel very womanly.

Thanks for checking in Mary! WTG on the exercising. I figure I better check in too. Well I am stuck at my current weight lol. But I have been so good about exercising. Yesterday I wore a short skirt, and felt ok in it even. So that was a neat nsv. Maybe I'll post it with side by side pictures. My 6 year old was nice enough to take a photo of me lol. Other than that I don't have much to report. I do have my period as of today though so maybe in a couple days I'll drop a few pounds and finally be out of the 180's. Sherri so sorry to hear about what you are going through. The fact that he's 'just talking' and 'best friends' with this woman is more of a bummer in a way than if he was just screwing her. I wonder why he's not emotionally attached to you as a best friend? I mean obviously he feels capable of talking with a woman. I wonder if a couples therapist could help you two move past this and communicate better? Just a thought. Good luck with everything.

Nah, you won't miss LB, because you'll find so much more at so many places that you won't have to miss them. Great NSV!!!!!!!

    Nsv

I went shopping at Lane Bryant today and I am down to a size 18 on the bottom and 14/16 on the top. I started at a size 24. My goal is 50 more lbs. Pretty soon I'll be shopping at a normal clothing store. I'll miss Lane Bryant though. I've been shopping there for years!

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

FUN NSV - Now when I sit down and look down, I can actually see my navel!!! I no longer have that gi-normous spare tire blocking my view. Does anyone else have some fun non-scale victories to share?

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

Great thread! A few NSV's for me: At the movies, my butt doesn't squish to touch both sides of the seat. :smellie: My car's steering wheel has an automatic feature that brings wheel closer to you, and lowers it to a preset level when you put the key in the ignition. I always had it swet to extend the furthest, and lower the most. Before, it touched my stomach when in place. Now there is a good 6 inches of space between the wheel & my tummy. :boink: Recently re-committed myself to the gym. Found out it takes MUCH longer to reach THR, and that I can bump up the speed to a much higher number, with very little heavy breathing. Enjoying more frequent heavy breathing (if you catch my drift)! Sorry, just had to add that...

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

Well I have lost 25 lbs so far. I still have a long way to go. Nobody is noticing the weight loss (except me of course) because when you have a lot to lose it takes a while for people to notice. (how come they notice immediately when you gain???) I have had people say that color looks great on you and I have had 3 people say you look nice, do you get your hair cut??? I just want to scream.....no I now only have 1-chin not 2!!!! Its like they are noticing something but maybe they are afraid to say....did you lose weight So anyway my small NSV is just about my clothes that I am fitting back into and some pants that feel better....like I can breathe in them. I loved the thread "how much can you pack into a pair of pants!! I must have been packing them beyond belief!! Keep up the good work fellow bandstahhs....(my Boston accent) GO SOX

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

Awesome NSV, Tracy! I have lots of them, but the BEST ones are the fact that I didn't need to be put on meds for the 3 medical conditions I was diagnosed with at my pre-op testing. (Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, and High Cholesterol) After all, I did do this mostly for my health. The weight loss is a great bonus!

GREAT NSV's Mine... (besides the clothes I'm fitting into again) is.... The proud feeling I have walking OUT of the gym all sweaty and red faced!

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

By far and away, my biggest NSV was my first run. This year's Mothers Day Classic. I ran 4.5km in 28.35 minutes!! The euphoria I felt crossing the finish line was incredible! I felt like I could take on the world and win. I can't help but smile when I think back.
  11. OK so i was going threw all the treads on here and realized that whenever someone has a NSV they have to put it somewhere randomly.. So i thought it would be a good idea to have a thread celebrating all of our NSV's. (i know im a dork!! ) Ok ill start off, a couple of days ago, i came across this pair of jeans my cousin bought me last year, no last year at that time i couldn't even button them at all (even when i tried to play the whole lets suck my stomach in and lay down on the bed game) So i was curious and just had to try them on.. and guess what I put them on no problem i even had my stomach relaxed. what a wonderful feeling. and today my mom bought me a top and i treid it on and it was to big... IT'S LITTLE THING LIKE THAT, WHICH MAKE YOU FEEL GREAT ABOUT YOURSELF!!!:clap2:

    Marchies in June

Hey This is the first time I've had a chance to check in for a while. I had to go to Puerto Rico b/c my dad had emergency surgery. Hospitals there are WAY different then here. My sister and I had to do EVERYTHING and also bring ourown medical supplies, not to metion bathe him and wash his sheets. I'm so glad to be back home, it's been so long that it took me whole day to read all the posts! (intermitently of course). TAMMYJ - When are you leaving for PR and where are you going? LARALYNN86- Be careful not to get dehydrated. Your goal to drink enough Water is a great one! How is it going? I got kidney stones a couple of weeks after surgery - the doc says that dehydration could have played a part. Also - I reccomend Isopure for Protein. I hate all the drinks, they are sooooo gross but when I was on liquid I LIVED on ISOPURE, it's sortof like gatorade, I found it at my local healthfood store. KYETHRA - How are you feeling after your fill? I had my first fill today, doc said liquids for today and I can go back to solids tomorrow. I already feel some restriction, he injected 1.5 into my 4 band. I'm so glad to see that everyone is doing so well! I like to come here for encouragement and I haven't been dissapointed yet!! It seems that along with the 2lbs that I lost in PR, I am also having a NSV. I've noticed that although I haven't lost any weight in the past few weeks (other than the 2lbs mentioned above). BUT my pants are falling off my butt?!?!?! My bra size went from a 44DD to a 42DD too!

I think you have lost enough...

I was thinking....what a great NSV! I hope someone says that to me someday. Maybe it comes from them being concerned that you're not getting enough nutrition? OR in the case of someone who isn't supportive of you, jealousy? I'm still waiting for someone that doesn't know about my band to notice, and say something about my weight loss. Over 50 lbs gone, and NOTHING. Not that I care, but you'd think SOMEONE would notice! LOL!

    September Bandsters

BJean: Congratulations on the exercise program and your NSV! Way to go! I too love this site. It helps me so much. Platueau's are awful, but I guess they are a necessary evil. I'm going to start my Body Bugg and personal trainer next week. I guess it's time. My body is getting too use to water aerobics. Time to shake things up a bit. MarieCarmen: Good luck with your hysterectomy. If I were you I would have the tummy tuck at the same time. Be prepared for some recovery time. When I had my hysterectomy at age 35, I needed almost the entire 6 weeks they suggested. You might as well recover from a tummy tuck at the same time! Shell: Glad you're doing better! I bet you feel relieved! Keep us posted. We're here for you! Mimin: No wait loss this week. .*!**!,*!.>

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Happy Sunday Evening Violets. Judy: I belly laughed when I read your rated x post! You crack me up! and also WOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!! major NSV. I did good at the family reunion yesterday.. I did eat some high calorie stuff, but I only ate one plate and the overall portion was a nice real life size..... the bad thing is that I did not drink ANY water yesterday I drank too much diet dr pepper.. (MY doc gave back soda on June 4)..... after so long of not drinking it I really haven't missed it, but yesterday I realized that it can not replace my water habbit...... Today I ate taco fixings without the shell for lunch and had some vanilla icecream with a few strawberries... I haven't ate anything since 2p and I'm trying to just drink water for the rest of the night.. so that I loose my bounced pound... my goal is to get into the 230's this week... and if I'm good I know it is attainable........ Denise you are doing so good woman.. as my band twin and now even a fill twin I watch your progress like a hawk..... I know that if I did as much exercise as you that I would not be lagging so far behind.... Great job everyone!

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Alrighty then. DH gained a pound this week so there must be something in the water. HOWEVER I did have a couple of NSVs today. Last year at Gospel Sunday I was wearing a man's size XXL denim choir shirt. Today I'm wearing a man's L and I'm just shy of being able to button it around my belly. Next year my goal is to be in a woman's Medium! Yesterday I bought new underwear. I asked my DH if he knew what an optimist was. I said.. "it's somebody who buys one package of size 8 and one package of size 7 underwear". This morning I thought I'd just try the size 7 on and IT FIT!! Now the last NSV has a parental warning attached to it. When I stood in front of the full length mirror this morning before stepping into the shower, I saw something I have not seen in years and years. I looked down and saw my hoo haaa!! It's been covered up by a big apron of fat for a long time and today it was just peeking out! Ok, I know that's TMI, but it WAS a NSV for sure!!
  17. Mr. Yoda Congrats on your NSV. That should be a good inspiration for many. You and I are only one day apart on band dates so I can feel your joy with people food instead of baby food. Now I know why babies throw it on the floor or throw it up so often.:girl_hug: All the best to you. When is your first fill?

I just wanted to mention a sort of unbelievable NSV that I had at the exercise physiologist's last Thurs. I've seen her 3 times since surgery. Each time she measures half a dozen places on my bod to see about overall loss of inches. Each time I've seen her, I've lost one inch in my NECK!!! A total of 3 inches in my neck! She's shocked each time. She says it is much more normal to see 1/8th inch to 1/2 inch change each time, at most. And although I hadn't lost weight since I saw her last, I had lost inches all over except in my waist. So the water aerobics have helped some. All in all much better report than I expected! It really helped to have some positive news.

    January Bandsters???

I have to share my latest NSV - well one of them is a scale victory and one is not! 1. I now weigh less than my husband! I've wanted to weigh less than him for years! He weighs 181, and I weighed 179.6! I made him get on the scale and then I stepped on to show him what I weighed. I was so happy! 2. I tried on a pair of size 12 capris, THEY FIT! I have moved past the 14's and into a 12! I haven't worn a 12 in 14 YEARS! 3. I have broken out of the 180's! Okay, enough about me. lol. I just wanted to share my victories with my January band family! Lisa - sounds like the PB experience wasn't all that bad, but wasn't all that fun either. I hate the sliming! I've slimed a few times, but no really PB experiences. Whats weird about me is I don't have to take small bites? I take regular bites and chew like I've always done pre-band and I still don't have PB's. Thats why I think I need more of a fill, but then I think, I'm eating less with no problems, so why get more of a fill? I don't know what to do - What do you guys think? I'm so wishy washy with me decision. Sometimes I notice I need more of a fill and freak out, other times I notice I can hardly eat?
  20. HI all! Judy, I did get your PM, and will share it with my kids, to keep in mind, if she struggles in 1st. I have only had 2 days to closely observe...and in all honesty, it looks to me as though consistency, and lack of personal attention are the main problems. If I take the time, to get her full attention, and explain or show her...she has no problems. Now that her home life is going to settle down, and she is so happy about it, it is just downright sad. She wanted to live with her Daddy, and my DD so badly....and she was for the most part, but when it was time for her Mom to get some CS she would demand her to come home. Long enough to get a check, then she would call about leaving her for a few hours, and come back a couple of weeks later. She must have told me 25 times in the last month that she gets to live with them ALL the time, and she and Kinsey are really going to be sisters, she is just so much more relaxed, I believe the consistency in her life will improve her abilities as well. Her Dad and my DD met with her teacher, the counselor, and the principal of the school when the court ruled in his favor. They let it be known she is not allowed to leave with Mom etc. So that may have been some of the reason they chose to send her on to 1st grade...I don't know. Awww Lunasa---hang in there Hon....it was very apparant to me that the words of wisdom you shared with all of us here, come from someone who feels all things on a very deep level. Unfortunately for you, what allows you to understand our fears, and disappointments---is the same part of you that makes you feel your own so deeply. Some of what you are feeling is emotional, of course, and likely some is actually caused by fluctuating hormonal levels, changing as the "diet" we are now eating makes different things in our systems hit unusual highs and lows. It has to be part of it---I think everyone hits them! And not just band patients---anyone who begins a new eating regime. Makes you wonder if some of these feelings are not why the stats are so high for WLS patients becoming alcoholics, etc. We go through these emotional swings, and many people soothe them with alcohol. As the years go by, they will find out all these things---we my friends are the guinie pigs!!! But thanks to these bands, Guinie pigs are the only kind of pigs we will be!!! Lunasa, if you need to try on your old clothes a few times to remind yourself how it has changed, do it! Take some pampering time for you! Do like the others, paint your toenails, the ability to do it, will be another NSV! Back to the taco debate.....did you calculate what the one taco was calory wise? It doesn't seem like a horrid choice to me...meat, veggies, cheese. The shell is the worst of it. I have no intentions of giving up my occasional taco!!! TracyKS---I agree, your boss, sees the changes in you---both in your body, the way you eat...your overall outlook....I don't for a second believe he ask it because you look like you are PG, but because you have changed in a way he cannot put his finger on...I too think it is funny. Take it as a compliment! I have had 3 people in 2 days act shocked that my granddaughters are my granddaughters, and not MY kids.......oh how thankful I am that I am not full time Mommy to a 2 & 6 year old!!!! But I felt thrilled that they thought I was!!! Well I am not sure what the next week or so will hold. Rick is off now until 2 weeks following his procedure---which will make it the end of the month, which is right at my party for my parents! So I will be hit & miss during that time. I will be here, but likely not as often---don't panic, I'll check in. And I'll be thinking of you guys!!! Kat

    Getting Ready for Spring Bootcamp

I started M/E today - you guys inspired me with your success! I also had a great NSV yesterday - my husband measured me and I have now lost a total of 29 1/4 inches. Woohoo!!! Hope everyone is doing well - I'll let you know how it goes on the M/E as I'm on my way to 17 pound lost goal. Later

    Steady losers ;-)

Ooooh wee you dirty lil hooka! Who you exercising with nowadays? Sheesh, now I have TWO reasons to be jealous of your hot to trot hiney! Is this the "I need a friend" guy or are you out there spreading your wings girlfriend? GOOD FOR YOU! AnnieBee - I think about you every time I wash my hands in the kitchen. (seriously) I so love that soap - thanks again. Yes, we need to see some pictures. And way to fuggin go on the weight loss! 90 pounds off? GIRLFRIEND! I need your secret to success. I'm stalled at 58, and really want to get over that 60 pound hump. (HA) Have you all ever seen the show INSIDE THE BROOKHAVEN OBESITY CLINIC on TLC? Man, I watched 6 episodes of that on Sunday. I'm so grateful to be me - in size, shape and girth. Some of those people were just... WHEW! Made my fat ass not want to eat any more boolsheet. One woman had gastric bypass and was still ordering fast food and eating pizza. I wanted to slap that hoe. bk - the water pills are safe as long as you're not heart medicine. I take them when I have swelling, or if I'm bloaty. I don't take a bunch everyday though. They just make you pee. Even more if you drink lots of water. I was on the elliptical trainer for 30 minutes yesterday. After 30 minutes of work I hadn't busted a sweat and my heartrate was still low (116/120). I can't tell if that's a good thing or a bad thing... NSV!!! My sister came over for a little while yesterday and the first thing she gushed about how much weight i've lost and how good I look. She said "You look like you've lost at least 40 pounds!" (I was sketchy on the details.) And she remarked that I am now about the size I was when I had the baby. (which I am - 10 - 15 pounds away) She made me feel really great, especially since I saw my Mom over the weekend and she didn't remark on my weight loss at all. WTF? My sister reminded me that my Mom is "a hater." (which she is) I need to lose that 15 pounds by my 7 month anniversary. That puts me at a 75 pound loss in 7 months. Not bad at all. I am really praying to hit 199 by 12/14 (1 year). I'm definitely joining a gym for my b'day. I'm going to splurge and join the more expensive gym simply because they have the children's area and I can go after work. My goal is to be in there 4x per week minimum. I'm going to start lifting weights (Body for Life anyone?) bbk - take care of yourself, get your rest and heal your body. We're all thinking about you. maurdan - how's it going with the fill? Steph? Kaydoll? sweethot? sassy? Where my girls at? Check in, please! Back to the grind... :think Nat

    Burping

lol I am so glad to know I am not alone!! acapella (spelling??) burping.... now there is a thought! lol I decided to ponder this thing we do called burping... I thought back to the days of feeding my babies and I remembered a bottle which is I believe still popular, the platex nurser... well in their advertisement they say that babies get less air and so do not suffer with gas and the pain it can bring.... well I thought to myself how can I get less air if I am drinking (which is all I am doing at this point).... here is what I came up with I tried to really concentrate as I drank and I realized that I was breathing all wrong which each swallow...so I tried to make sure that just before I did swallow I exhaled and did not inhale until after I was done.... TA DA!!! It worked!! I have had very little burping today and I am hoping that maybe I have really stumbled on an answer for this. Now I need others to research my theory!! lol breath out swallow breath in lol an easy little exercise and if it works it is another victory NSV. as an added bonus it helps to slow down the drinking/eating

READ THIS B4 BEING BANDED...My Experience

hey i have NSV. I went to the gas station down the street from my house and the gas station attendant commented that I was losing weight.

    Steady losers ;-)

Hi Chickadees - I was out of town last week, eating out every night and drinking too much wine. The scale moved, but in the WRONG DIRECTION! I hope it's water I'm retaining and not fat I'm regaining. (((hahaha)) This week I'm on my 2-a-day exercise plan, and one meal per day (grilled chicken, grilled fish only) and the rest is liquid calories (protein drinks, protein bullets and lots of water to flush out the fat). I'm also taking a water pill to flush flush flush out the fat. I have exciting news to share, but can't share until things come into being. I don't want to jinx myself. This news is only serving to bolster my self confidence and refocus my weight loss efforts. I feel I am "normal sized" (at a size 18) which is a NSV in and of itself. I'm shooting for 224 by my b'day and to be under 200 by December 14, my 1 year bandiversary. Just be happy for me girlfriends (as I am sure you will be). Continued weight loss will only push me further forward in this arena. I wholeheartedly believe it. Anyhow, I'm off to a meeting. I missed y'all while I was gone! BIG LOVE!!!!! Nathalie
