    September Bandsters

I just had to share this.... Since my surgery, I have lost 15 points on my BMI!! That is a great NSV for me. I only have 3 more to step out of the stage 3 of Morbid Obesity! That is wonderful to know. In 9 months I went from 331 pounds down to 246! This is a very proud moment. I can't wait to get under the 200's!!

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Good afternoon SV's.... It's been a very lazy week for me, but this is the week when people are starting to notice that I'm not carrying 41 extra pounds. I've had lots of compliments and that sure does feel good. I had a singing rehearsal last night and we decided to practice on the steps of the church outside rather than inside where it was hot, hot, HOT. For the first time I was able to get down on the steps, sing for a couple of hours and still be able to get up under my own power!!! These NSV's are getting better and better!! Today we finished cleaning out the garage. DH did most of the work, I just did a little sweeping. Now we're ready for the big garage sale mid-July so I can earn a little money for a shopping spree when we go see Clay Aiken in concert July 23rd. There are 6 of us gal pals going and it should be a blast.. I'm fried to a crisp today so I'm not going in the pool. Don't want to risk anymore redness. Besides it's raining on and off today so not a good day for pool aerobics. Our bikes are in to be tuned up so I'm guessing no exercise for today. I'll have to double up tomorrow. Jenn.. sure hope you get news on a job this week. We're all pullin' for you. Laura.. your pics look great. What a difference in your face!! mdrai.. good to see you finally!! You can tell a difference in your face as well. Time to get off here and see what relaxing thing I can do next. A nap sounds good to me right now. But I think I'll be a good girl and head to Curves. Guess I've become an exercise addict like most of you!! Everyone have a great day!!!

    CRUISE 2007 What Happened????

Pssssssssssst.... ((looks around to see who is looking)) HUSH HUSH NEWS BANDSTERS!!! ((come closer to the screen I have to whisper)) Can you all keep a secret???? (nods nods nods nods all around) Well we had the BEST time on this cruise I thought that maybe I would venture to put together yet ANOTHER one (although less expensive and 4 nights/5 days). It would be out of LA port on Royal Caribbean in Early December. Give me a week to work out the details, but watch for the thread!! And shhhhhhhhhhhhhh:kiss, don't tell anyone yet!! (hee hee, I have about 5 cabins going already and I don't even have the exact prices yet!!):cry This cruise will be open to children, husbands, spouses, significant others, friends, siblings, banded or not that want to go. We created such strong bonds between all of us and I want that to continue to grow. Maybe someday we will have enough of us that we will book the ENTIRE ship! This bandy cruise is going to be even bigger and better (which by the way will be hard to top!) P.S. To my June cruisers: you are all wonderful and I miss you very much. Thank you for laughing at my dumb jokes and my karaoke fiascoooooooooo!:faint:Each and every one of us showed the true "us" with our laughter, comedy, pranks, sexy dresses, confidence, self respect, and comfort. GREAT NSV TRIP LADIES!!!!! THINK ABOUT ALL OF THOSE NSV'S YOU DID LAST WEEK REALLY!!!:hungry: Gotta go before someone hears me....... (sneaks out the door):bandit
  4. I went in for my 2nd fill today....weird story, but I'll tell the good news first. I have lost 14 pounds since my fill on the 11th of last month. Here is the strange part...I had lost half of my original fill which brought me down to .75 (which explains the hunger) and she filled it back to 1.5 and I could not even swallow the water she gave me...anyway, long story short I only have .9 in there and I feel like I have so much restriction right now that I can barely swallow saliva. So, then I realized that it is my TOM and she said that is why it is like that and if I need to come back after my TOM she will put in more. I had no idea that our TOM made such a huge difference. Oh well, thats my story... TracyKS...rollercoaster....that is what I wanna do next, but they tore down astroworld so I need an alternate plan. Laura-welcome back and congrats on the move! Teach-what a wonderful NSV...it feels great when people notice, right?

ok.. getting ready to hit the road... Laura: WOW!!! you go girl.. Vegas!Vegas!Vegas! Teach: GREAT NSV! Pamela: I'm like you.. I ain't changing my ticker til I hit a new low! NEW FAT GOODBYE! Michelle: Aqua Pilates.. SOUNDS VERY VERY VERY COOL! (send me those pics chica and I'll post them) Denise: Yup new pics tonight........ JOY JOY!
  6. Happy Day, Everyone! TracyKS -- Great pic! Looks & sounds like you had a blast! Laura -- OMG girlfriend... you are one busy lady! But it's all fun (most of, anyway, right??)... I'm so happy for you! What a fun time of life! Teach -- NSVs are the BEST! You are doing so great!!! What a role model!!! Adorable -- yep, pix tonight, post tomorrow! Good news: Scale is going back down, yay... down to 289.4 from the "eating food again" bounce after liquids of 294... 2.4 lbs more & I'll be back at -30 & then on to losing some NEW FAT! Yay! Not so good news: No first fill for me 'til the week of 7/8... which will be my 6 week point... could've done it next week @ 4 weeks out... but doc is double booked all week already & then he's out of town the week of the 4th (isn't everybody?). So I'll keep on doing my best. Walking. 1/2 portions. Good news: I go to my first "aqua pilates" class tomorrow morning! Good news: My dd is going to the beach on Sunday for a week w/my mom & sister... which is nice for her... but the sneaky good news for me & ds is that WE are going down Mon - Tues as a surprise! Yay, surprises... yay, the beach! So more good news than bad. Yay! Have a great day, everyone!

Hey Laura!! Great to hear from you. Sounds like things are hectic there, but you seem to be getting things under control. Our big wedding here is over and it went very smoothly. I'm sure yours will too. Can't wait to see pics of your new house with the furniture in and pics of the wedding too!! I had a NSV today!! I work as a volunteer at the hospital here. I put together the patient education packets that they hand out to the patients. I was at the copy machine doing my thing and one of the ladies walked by and stopped and said.. WOW.. you've lost weight.. a LOT of weight! I said yup.. bout 40# so far. She said.. "and you're doing.....???" So I said.. I had a lapband put in.. both Bob and I did (she knows Bob but hasn't seen him since his was put in). She said that was great. Next thing I know, my supervisor comes out and said she overheard that I had a lapband.. then wanted to know all about it. I did a mini-seminar right then and there. She in no way needs a lapband, but it was still neat to be able to talk about it and be proud that I had gone through it. Sooooooo I'm feeling good today in my new 16W pants, down from 22/24, and my 1X top down from a tight 3X. I'm going to go have some lunch and then hit the pool! Everyone have a great day!!!

    strength training

HI all, I went to see the exercise physiologist yesterday and he tole me some great things. First, he said that biking was THE BEST cardio ever. Better than walking. No stress on joints at all. He said that if he could get everyone who starts on WLS journey to get a bike and ride it everyday they(the WLS clinic I go to) would have the number one success rate in the country. So I guess that is a NSV for me, since that is my favorite thing to do... Second he talked with me about strength training. I was a little concerned about adding weight and adding weight as the smaller weight became too easy, but he set me straight on a few things. 1) Testosterone is what builds massive, huge muscles. Women do not have that kind of testosterone in their bodies, so it would be impossible to buile huge muscles. 2) If you can do more that 12 reps in a set of weights then you need to add a bit more weight. These were a few things that I didn't realize and thought I would share with you. Deanna

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Evening everyone.. Well, it was a semi-relaxing day. DD and I took down the tent and DH put it away. We went out to lunch and I had half a cup of broccoli cheese soup and a side grilled chicken Greek salad at Applebees. Dh had a NSV there.. he brought food home in a box!! He's never had leftovers to take home before!!! I had his leftovers for supper tonight.. smothered chicken breast and 1/4 cup of mashed red skin potatoes. I got my exercise in for sure today.. 30 minutes of water aerobics this afternoon, then 30 minutes at Curves and another 30 minutes of water aerobics this evening. When the pool water is 86, ya gotta take advantage of it here in Northern Michigan!! Supposed to be just as warm tomorrow. I'm going to work my volunteer shift at the hospital and then invite a couple of lady friends to come join me in the pool.. mostly for lounging and gossiping!! My singing group has a rehearsal in the evening and we're supposed to see thunderstorms tomorrow evening sometime. I'm going to take this exercised body to bed and watch a little tv before I nod off. Everyone have a great evening.. !!

Sounds like the beautiful comments were code for "you have been losing weight and you look great!" That is a nice compliment and an excellent NSV. Enjoy.

    NSV's

So, I thought I'd start our very own NSV thread. For those who don't know, and NSV is a 'non-scale victory'. Sooo... I went to Starbucks earlier with a friend and had to put on 'real' clothes cause I couldn't wear shorts due to bending over to shave my legs is still painful. ANYWAY... I put on my 'fat' jeans that I had to buy last Fall cause NONE of my other jeans fit me, and they were falling OFF of me. I know I haven't lost much yet, and these jeans have always been a bit baggy, but I'm seriously thrilled that these huge super fat jeans are now too big to wear! They will be the first item of clothing I put in the 'Goodwill' box! I'm so excited!! :clap2:

HEY FRIENDS! Well.....I am back! Sonoma and Napa were wonderful! Weather was cool and it times a little cold! Being a Texas girl I don't know if I could handle 50 degree temps in the middle of June! I had a NSV moment while visiting Point Reyes. If y'all are not familiar with Point Reyes, Ca--it is a point on the coast (just west of Sonoma) that junts out to the sea--it has a little lighthouse on the very tip. Anywho, when Jon and I went there last year during Spring Break I didn't even try to attempt to walk down to the lighthouse ( it was just an effort to walk from the car 1.4 miles to the top of the mountain. To get to the lighthouse you have to walk down 302 VERY steep steps (I know the number because the mark them for you ) Also there is two steep ramps that you also have to walk down--okay anywho--not only to you have to walk down the steps...you have to eventually walk back up! And I did it!!!! :clap2: I had lots and lots of fun...and drank lots and lots of wine!!! he he! Denise

Hi friends, Im just checking in again. I've stepped my exercise to twice per day. Im eating right, drinking water, taking vitamins, getting in 8 hours of sleep per night. It feels so good to finally be back on track. I just can't get below 180 lol. Im exactly 180, not 180.1 lol but its just stuck there! ughh. Maybe tomorrow it will finally be 179.9. I had an interesting NSV, I went to Target to get a new swimsuit because the one from last year is HUGE on me lol. Anyways I hadn't been to a Target in at least a year, I didn't recognize myself in the mirror lol. I didn't look at myself until I was already undressed, I gasped, and then looked at myself for a few minutes. It was crazy lol because I still had this picture in my head of what I thought I looked like (227 lbs), and I just don't look like that person anymore. It was cool. Just wanted to tell yous.

So I think I might have good restriction now, instead of being overly restricted (according to me anyway). Today for lunch I had half of a yoghurt. And then for supper I had about 5/8 of a slice of cheese pizza. And it went down with no problems, lots of chewing, a pause between bites like always. I felt satisfied and comfortably full after I was done eating today. Just like I was supposed to and I felt like I had eaten enough to justify having food I guess. Whereas before my partial unfill After a few bites I was in pain and discomfort! Plus I didn't feel satisfied, and I felt silly having cooked or even taken the food out if thats all I was going to eat, especially since it seemed to PB back up as often as not. So far so good. Tomorrow I'll try something a little more solid, but I am thinking this is a good level of restriction maybe. The doc tried to scare me and told me I would get hungry more often with an unfill. I said that I was a risk I was willing to take. If anything, I seem to be hungry less! Maybe because more stays down? And as a NSV I am now a tight size 18! I was washing some clothes today (since we got the new washer and dryer I've been doing a lot of backed up laundry) and I dried on the pair of old jeans I had just taken out of the tryer. They fit! But they felt snug. The 20s are still a better fit. So that is something exciting to look forward to, when they are no longer snug! Now I wonder when the 20s actually fit. I need to keep track of this stuff.

Hello my fellow Marchies! Its been weeks since I've been here, and I really need to work on logging on more often to help me stay accountable! Well since March 21st I've only lost about 20lbs. However overall since Sept when I really began this journey I've lost 75lbs! Which I'm absolutely thrilled with! I really need to start making better choices about what I eat. Its not nearly as bad as I used to be, but still, it could be better. I got my first fill on 6/12. I don't have any restriction yet, but I am able to go longer in between meals now (except for today - for some reason I was STARVING all day long!) Lets see - a NSV - I've lost 34.875 inches overall since I started recording my measurements in November - so in 7 months I've lost almost 5 inches a month - and that is a great feeling too! Hope you all are doing well today :scalesno:

Hi Y'all! I have 2 NSV!!!!!!! First...I'm off the crutches!! Yay! It will be another month before I can start walking for exercise again. Second...I'm having to go thru my closet and dig out all those items I haven't been able to wear for a VERY long time. And of course, bag up the stuff that's too big. Also...I finally made it in for my second fill. Thank goodness. I feel like I've been eating like a pig. OINK OINK. I'll find out tomorrow how a total of 2.5 cc's is doing. I don't think I've ever PB'd yet. Only an occasional feeling like someone was sitting on my chest if I eat or drink too fast. Let out a good burp and the feeling passes. I wish I had time to read Marchies every day. Y'all crack me up and I'm proud of how well you are all doing. Keep up the good work!

I don't know how we fall to the 3rd page. I'm on here all the time! I know you all have got to be sick of me. Denise is riding drunk in wine country this week. And TammyJ went on a trip too. Yenken is MIA. They tend to add a lot to the conversation. We miss you! I know I'm missing some of the other regulars who must be having too much fun getting skinny to be bothered with this board. :biggrin1: Just to chitty chat about myself for a minute, I did do my 20 mile ride yesterday on the new bike. It feels pretty unusual, but great to be getting fit and meeting my personal goals. The weight dropping off is a bonus too! A new NSV, I'm a solid size 24 now, which though is still a plus size, it's a size you can find in a department store, not just at LB or AVE. Yesterday I got some new clothes at Kohls! Not much, but it was great to try on things and go, yuck, bad look. Not yuck, but I guess I'll buy it cuz it fits! Lord help me when I see 14! Juli
  20. Hello Aubrie, there's a few threads around here like this one, I always love these threads because it is so inspiring and offers so much insight into what makes each of us tick. In case you wanted to check some others' responses as well, I've listed a few of them. The first one is one that is fairly recent. Thanks for your list, I love it! http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/has-anybody-made-list-things-you-want-do-after-weight-loss-29177/ http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f7/looking-forward-9038/ http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/what-do-you-did-you-look-forward-too-21239/ http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f15/nsv-i-look-forward-anyone-else-me-23899/ http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/what-things-can-you-do-now-your-banned-you-could-not-before-13671/

No loss and no gain for me this week. I have an NSV - I went shopping this weekend and bought a couple pair of shorts and a skirt from Tommy - size 8; I think they run big but the tag still says 8!

Julie, that is a great NSV!!
  23. It's good to know I'm not the only one double posting. New NSV tonight. I went to a wedding and the aunt and grandmother of the bride both said I looked wonderful. They actually said skinny to me, not that I am. They always ask about how I feel and if I'm having problems. I get asked that alot. Does anyone else?

    Slow Losers - Unite!

NSV stands for Non Scale Victory. (When something happens that isn't related to the scale, that tells you you've lost weight) I am a really slow loser too. It's maddening. It would seem that as little as I am eating now, the weight should be falling off, but it's not. Exercise makes a huge difference, but some days I just can't force myself to go.

    My Life as a Bandster

Hi Everyone. Just thought I would pop in and say hi. I am doing well. The scale is giving me a hard time, but I am trying to stay focussed on inches right now. I have been doing 2 different boot camps, so something good must be happening. NSV...my uniforms are a med now...a little tight, but still a med!!! My mom had a mastectomy and unfortunatley the cancer has spread. They are starting chemo in a couple weeks. Your positive thoughts are appreciated. Thank you for the support. I haven't had a fill since march...seem to be ok with that. Have a lot of restriction when I eat 'good' foods. I have someone helping me with nutrition, so that helps too. That is all for now. I enjoy reading your posts, even though I don't always join in. Well, gotta run, I am off to bootcamp before work. Have a great day everyone!
