    Nothing but problems! :-(

I was denied for my revision with another insurance. My doctor scheduled a 'peer to peer' with the insurance and it got approved after they spoke in phone with doctor.

I'm currently on my liquid diet as well. I will be revision from band to RNY as well on June 15th. I basically set up a schedule of what I would have throughout the day at what time and so far on day 3, I'm not as hungry as yesterday. How did you make it through this your last day before surgery? For others interested, My schedule consists of a bottle of water as soon as I get up because I go to the gym. Then a propel afterwards. For breakfast a Premier Protein shake and another water. Snack time a yogurt with a little protein powder. Crystal light, and for lunch a SF pudding with a little protein. More water and for dinner another Premier Shake. I guess the protein has been filling. Yesterday I had two SF jello as well because I was a little hungrier. I wish you the best on tomorrow. Please give me some feedback since you are having a revision. Thanks

    Considering the Lap Band!

hi I was banded in June 2008 lost all my weight and kept it off. Started having problems in 2014 and found out my band had eroded. I was devastated. The band was hard work! I was successful but I had lots of fills and still threw up a lot with weird things like meat but could eat a sleeve of Oreos. I was revised to bypass on May 21, 2014 so I just hit a year. I'm doing awesome wish I had had the bypass first. It's so much easier and I'm so much healthier!!! Crazy but true!!! I was anemic with the band but not with the bypass. Please message me for my info if you want. I who used to be a huge advocate for the band now am anti band and pro bypass. Best thing ever was getting my bypass I'm thinner, healthier and happier than I have ever been!!!!

what could you be revised to? Have you tried the 5 day pouch test to get back on track?
  9. My doctors here in Maine are just dragging me along for almost a year now I have been trying to get a revision done as my band is no longer functional and they keep telling me to do more dietitian appointments (already have over 15 done) they just say I am to anxious to have the revision done but gosh who wouldn't be. I have started looking into going to Mexico to have this done instead of waiting for who knows how long from my current doctors. Has anyone had a revision done in Mexico? If so where did you have it done and what was your experience like? I am super nervous about going to a different country to have surgery.
  10. I got my lap band in 2007 and for a while I was using it and went from 340 pounds to 240 pounds. However shortly after getting the band I got into an abusive relationship that caused me a lot of stress. In 2011 I stopped going to the doctor entirely and I have been overeating ever since. I am back up to almost 300 pounds, which is only 40 pounds less than my highest weight pre-surgery. I am now divorced and I know I need to be accountable and go back to see a doctor. I have moved since the surgery and wonder if I should drive the few hours to see my initial surgeon in order to get a referral to a surgeon/doctor in my new town? Also if I have stretched out my pouch is there any hope for me? Or will I have to get a revised surgery? I didn't follow any of the post-surgery recommendations for the past few years. Is all hope lost? I could really use support and advise right now. Thanks.

    New and saying 'Hello' !

@ hi Kate, welcome! I've actually been on this site since 2007 but only active since December 2014. I really enjoy it, have gotten a lot of great ideas and counsel, some laughs and I feel a lot of affect tion for a goodly number of the folks who participate. The exchanges bring home to me how human we all are, with our struggles and joys, our sames and differents. I rarely go a day without checking in. I'm 50, married forever with a 28 yo and a 16 yo. From the Midwest cornfields but live near wash DC now. Had a band, revised to sleeve in January and LOVE it. I love to camp and travel. Have been to 16 countries and 48 states (missing Mississippi and new Hampshire oddly). That's about the size of it. :-D
  12. @@samuelsmom thanks for posting the article. I was banded in Europe in 2001;revised to sleeve in 2011. I was a member of online support groups and devised my own guesstimate about success rates. I always said about 1/3 do well, about 1/3 do very poorly (poor losses.or complications) and about a 1/3 lose some weight but not enough and have minor but troubling complications. The last category was me as a bandster. Lost 70.... needed to lose another 50. Regained the 70 plus 40 more so my revision weight was 3 0 8. That isn't even the whole truth...at some point while banded I weighed mid 300s....So not just 150-160# overweight but more like 180plus overweight. I also had reflux if I had Fluid so regain happened when fluid needed to be removed.

    Eggs

I am a band-to-bypass revision patient and I was SHOCKED at how easily I injest eggs! I have had them hard boiled and scrambled and they don't get stuck like they did when I was banded. I try to eat 1 egg a day just because that meal is so very enjoyable.

    Converted 3-4-15

Hey everyone, so I'm kinda at a stand still with my weight loss. It will be 3 months in a few days and I'm hovering around 205-208. I've lost only like 20 pounds. The day of my revision I weighed 226. I have my 2.5 month appt with my doctor on the 16th but I'm just frustrated because I work out with a personal trainer 3 days a week and have been for almost 2 months and I can physically see a change in my body as do others but the numbers on the scale are not changing :/ anyone else having this issue ??
  16. Hi there, I had my band to sleeve revision last Friday the 29th. Surgery took 3 hrs, was in the hospital for 2 nights. Now at 4 days post op...It's going okay. I'm super bloated and look pregnant, but I'm walking walking walking....that should help. I'm still on clear liquids and able to get in adequate amount. The pain I was not expecting was the cramping after each sip of liquids. I'm taking a med called Hyoscyamine Sulfate 0.125mg... that dissolves under my tongue...seems to help a little. I've been on liquid Vicodin and going to start taking plain Acetaminophen liquid tonight instead. I've had a couple of BMs....it was pure liquid. (Sorry....TMI but it helped me when reading other people's recoveries with all the lovely details). Good luck everyone. You can do this! Let's do this together!!!

    Surgery date - finally

I love Dr. Nick!! I was a revision from lap band to gastric sleeve so mine probably went faster because I did not have to jump through hoops and meet all the insurance requirements. It took me about two months from my consultation to surgery.

  21. Hi. I had the band in January 2010 and lost a significant amount of weight. At that time I was covered under blue shield of California who paid for it. A few years later I switched insurance to anthem blue cross of California. In August 2013 my band slipped and since I wasn't aware of the sleeve at the time I just had it removed and anthem paid for it. A couple years later I have gained quite a bit of weight back and it's a major struggle. Even though it's been almost two years would I be considered a revision/conversion and would anthem pay for it even though original surgery was paid for by different insurance? Thanks in advance

    Any teachers in here?!?

I agree but Christmas break would probably be better because that's 2 full weeks. I thought I was going to have to have mine originally during that time because I'm having a revision from band to RNY, but because my band didn't slip I'm blessed to be having everything Done on the 15th. Summer is perfect for recovery. I hope things work out for you! #teachersrock

@@tebowfan no, it's not a revision. It's an additional procedure, and come complete with all the associated charges. I'm not sure if that's right or not, but since I didn't have any to start with, I figured it's a new procedure and cost. If I had paid for lipo with the thigh lift, then I would consider it a revision.
  25. I was started on meds as well and am feeling tons better! Even though we are required to do psych evals doesn't mean that we won't have problems. I have NEVER EVER had trouble with anxiety and I was a revision from lap band. BUT I had a cardiac complication post surgery and I think that was my trigger.
