    Serious sore throat from intubation?

I had foot surgery in Feb and it was really bad. I’m hoping to have a more skilled anesthesiologist this time! (Surgery in 3 weeks)
  2. No pro op diet at all, but I wish I had as I’ve only lost 13kg at 11 weeks. Also told to eat soft food at 7 days, but that was rough so I went back to purée for a few days and then came right. Positive note it’s settled the reflux.

Any other gay sleevers out there?

Another late arrival to the party! It's 9 days until my surgery date (3 Dec). I am, what I would call, a normal level of nervous. Manageable. I've been on a 2 week VLCD with the 9 days left. I am looking forward to less pre-packaged food after surgery. My husband has been nothing but supportive, but he's in general attracted to my bigger body size/shape. He says he's with me no matter what, but my stupid 'inner saboteur' always rears its ugly head and makes me doubt whether he will still find me attractive in a year or so.

    Back spasms severe

I had this , I think it’s cause we lose muscle too fast in that area, it took about 4 weeks to come right and a trip to chiropractor. Good luck

    Serious sore throat from intubation?

I had it too. It lasted about a week.

    Runny Nose When Full

I sneeze. Twice. Two is the number of the sneezes. Three sneezes do not happen. One sneeze is right out, lest there be a second sneeze in quick succession. Of the sneezes there shall be two. Good Luck, Tek It seems to have to do with the Vagus nerve being messed with (cut, nicked, manhandled, or whatever).
  7. I thought the same thing before any WLS. I had an appt with my surgeon last week and he told me to eat more. To try to get to 900 cal. I am still eating about 600 cal. It is still mindblowing to me to be honest. I begin each meal like I could eat tons but after a couple of bites, it is over lol. In a few more months, my appetite and capacity will go up anyway so for now I am just riding the wave. Sent from my SM-N986U using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. Sounds to me you are on the right path. The first month stalls due to water weight and the body's adjustments are very common. Restriction came a little later for me when I got to solid foods and my body was competed healed. Sent from my SM-N986U using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. No, you're not doing anything wrong. https://www.bariatricpal.com/search/?q=3 week stall
  10. I loss 19 pounds my first 7 days post op 🙌🏽 (Water weight or real weight.. weight is weight to me.. I’ll take it lol) I make sure I keep my water with me 24.7 and I walk every chance I get. I cook dinner for my kids with no problems. I have zero cravings!  By next week I should be in the 200’s. Haven’t been there since high school 🥲

    Serious sore throat from intubation?

Yeah, mine was pretty bad for about a week or so. They hit my uvula going down so it was swollen and irritated. See if they’ll let you have some throat spray or a cough drop.

    Serious sore throat from intubation?

I had a good bit of irritation and discomfort for probably the first week. Warm tea and lots of rest seemed to do the trick.
  13. For some of us we will be starting the liquid diet this week or next. Hoping all goes well, we are getting closer!
  14. I was told 2 weeks on liquids (basically liquid keto, but low fat). I can include meats the first week.
  15. They told me the same thing, but it depends on your level of physical activity. But I've always been able to eat more than they suggest. Here is reality: you were probably eating 2000-3000 calories a day before, and now you are eating much less. Whether you're eating 500 cal or 800 cal, you are still WAY DOWN IN A CALORIC DEFICIT. So if they're trying to blame a stall on that, they're full of you-know-what. Stay off the scale, eat your food, make sure you are getting physical exercise, even if it's just a couple of walks a day. It will move. The scale will move. It's simple physics.

    New benginnings…

Fellow Mini Gastric Bypasser/Omega Looper here! Congrats on getting yours! My main focus is getting in my protein and water, which I double-up on with protein water twice a day (28g protein each), and protein-fortified soy milk (10g per 250ml). Then my supplement vitamins just before bed so I don't risk accidentally washing them through my system with water. My routine is protein water as soon as I get up, and another in the afternoon. I have regular water and protein-fortified soy unsweetened matcha lattes (maximum of 2) throughout the rest of the day, leaving spaces for solid food. Since you've just come out of hospital, you're still on liquids, so you've likely been told to have protein shakes. If you can tolerate them (I tried my best, but after six weeks, I just couldn't do the shakes anymore so switched to just protein water), then you'll skate through, but if you can't then keep protein water in mind.

    Is my weight loss normal?

There is no right or wrong rate of loss. There is just what is right for you because we lose at our own rate. Many factors influence your rate of loss: age, gender, starting weight, genetics, etc. You’ll find in all your weight loss experiences there are averages but with all averages some do better & others not as well & that’s ok. There’ll also be things you’ll have in common with some people & things you won’t. Remember, how fast or slow you lose doesn’t affect whether you reach your goal or not. There are some things you can depend upon. The more you have to lose the faster you lose to begin. The closer you are to your goal the slower your loss will be. And you likely will experience at least one stall (usually lasting 1-3 weeks). Good luck.

Hi everyone, I submitted all the documents 2 weeks ago to my Surgeon’s Office. I’m awaiting: 1. 2 more appointments with my Surgeon Signing the consent form, picking a Surgery date and taking a quiz while at the 2nd appointment 3. Approval letter from the insurance company The Holiday season is up on, it’s obvious that my Surgery won’t be next month like I wanted . It will be in January Can we make a Facebook group so we can chat daily and cheer each other along?

    Food Before and After Photos

Made some sautéed bay scallops with garlic and capers over spinach. Ended up still hungry so added some leftover stuffed mushrooms from earlier in the week. Ended up eating it all.

    March surgeries

My first two months I spent in and out of the hospital. They were tough! Week 10 onto now is much easier.

Can you show me your food log?

Thank you both. You're both males in the range of where I'm starting so this is so helpful. @vikingbeast Only 10 weeks post op - do you ever do protein shakes anymore?

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

It might just be the gas from surgery. Walking helps. If you feel like your heart rhythm is abnormal, you probably should go to your dr or urgent care so they can listen. The surgery sent my heart into an abnormal rhythm and I ended up having to stay over a week while they figured out what drugs to use to slow it down. Hope you’re okay.
  24. Hi doobie. I had gastric sleeve surgery 8 months ago. With my program you dieted for several months prior to surgery, then two weekes before surgery we had to drink only 800 cal of protein drinks a day. After surgery your sleeve will prevent you from eating for several weeks. Broth and water only to start, then back on shakes. You will gradually start eating solid foods egg whites etc. It took several weeks to finally eat 800 cal again. I really never felt hungry just frustrated that I couldn't eat. I didnt starve and now 8 months later I have lost 154 lb. I am 5' 6.5" and I weighed 324.2 lbs when I started in the program. I am 68 and nobody recognizes me now. This was the best thing that ever happened to me. So, hang in there and trust your nutrition team. They have done this for several hundred people before you. Good luck.
  25. I got the sleeve on Oct 20th and have lost 12 lbs since. I’m pretty down about it. Had my 4 week checkup expecting to hear not to worry, stalls are common. Instead, they were concerned I was eating too much: I was averaging 700-800 calories a day and they said most people at my stage are taking in appx 500. I’m trying very hard to cut back to lower calories and have quit weighing myself but beginning to think it’s not really going to work for me.
