My 1St Milestone Surprise.
Lissa replied to Tif 2.0's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Those NSVs are as important, maybe even MORE important than the scale victories! YAY for you!! One of the first milestones I hit was car related as well, when I realized that my butt fit in the seat and the seat belt didnt dig into my hip anymore. -

NSV: My Favorite Exercise is Shopping
stateofzen posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today I went to lunch with my husband, and then afterwords decided to burn some calories shopping :bolt: I bought clothes in the regular section for the first time in. . . . holy cow, since grad school-- at least 10 years? Now, I'm not gonna lie to you all, I bought XL and really the styles that work for me now are the blousy shirts that are not form fitting (they probably fit my form too well right now, is what I'm saying), but still! Whee! I got a Michael Kors shirt in XL for $20 on clearance peeps, and it looks nice on me! That feels so good. You wanna know what's weird though? I felt really self-conscious shopping in the regular section, like other shoppers were staring at me and wondering what I was doing in "their" part of the store. :wink2: No, I didn't actually see anyone doing that but I felt it the entire time I was there. Definitely something psychological I'm going to have to work on. -
4 Weeks And 1 Day Out Nsv!

This is an important NSV! Here's to good health! -
Shopping in regular sizes! My Mom wanted to go shopping at Dressbarn. I wasn’t really looking for anything as I have a mountain of clothes to go through first. While she was in the plus size side of the store, I figured I’d wander over to the “regular” side of the store. Great sales this week so what the heck! I found a really pretty crocheted top with 3/4 sleeves on clearance in an XL. I figured I’d fit in it soon anyway so I bought it. When I got home I decided to try it on and see how far I had to go before It fit. Holy krap, it fit!! I started pulling the XL’s out of my closet and most of them fit. That was two days ago and I’m still smiling.

Ive been having mini-NSV's for a while but I've been feeling a lot of self doubt too - like I'll never be truly successful, never reach goal. I started at 325 last summer, lost 28 preop, and have lost a total of 65 since surgery on March 13. I'm right at 260. Its been work. I feel like a slow loser. But I'm really, (finally) seeing results, especially in my clothes. I worse a pair of jeans I hadn't worn since 2008. I bought a pair of W22 khaki pants a few weeks ago that are now too big to wear. I can easily wear a size 18 bathing suit. But, Tonight, I think I had my first true, jump up and down moment. And it was over something relatively simple. A lab coat of all things. Last summer, I ordered a lab coat in 4X so it would button. Today I ordered a XXL and it fits. It fits perfectly, I can even button it. I know it's still an XXL but IT BUTTONED! All the way down! It's the largest size in the non-plus sizes. I have 95 pounds to go and when I say that, I feel like I'll never make it! Sometimes I feel like I'll never get there. But tonight, I finally felt like I was moving in the right direction. You'd think seeing 65 gone would give me a little faith. But it took buttoning up a lab coat to be excited!!!

Last night I went to the mall with my family. I wore a size 16 jean. Yes, they are now baggy. As I was walking my underwear started to slide down. At first I was mortified. They would have hit the floor if not for the jeans! It was so embarrassing! My family flanked me so I could (as discreetly as possible) hook a finger around the hip and hold them until I found a restroom. If I ever was in doubt that the sleeve is not working just because I've stalled this week, I'm not anymore. Guess it's time to go down a size :smile1: -

Yup definately NSV material. LOL. Good thing you had your family there for cover! -
I went for a physical today with my pcp because I am training for a 5K. They did the whole workup, blood, urine, pap smear and later today a mammogram. During the pelvic exam, my doctor said to me, "its a lot easier to check your ovaries now that you are so much thinner"... LOL I never thought about that.. what an nsv for me! Makes even my doctors life easier. My blood pressure was 80/60... really low. He wasnt concerned though. He said it was good. I was dehydrated but they didnt give me an IV, just told me to get to drinking. I am cleared to keep running now that I have my asthma inhaler. I just feel so much healthier.

I've noticed my skin getting kind of loose on my legs and arms. I think I'm just not far enough along yet for it to be as bad as it could be. I try not to worry about it too much even though it does get to me sometimes. Your NSV is a great one! Congrats on 90 lbs gone

Monday will be 2 weeks post-op. Today I put on my wedding ring for the first time in 8 months. And for the first time in 3 years, my feet aren't sore and swollen. I am down 20 pounds since pre-op which isn't too shabby either. I hope this is the start of the new me!!!

My relationship with my scale...
Babbs replied to ALLABTME_KISHA's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
This is why it's really important for us to focus more on the non scale victories (NSV's) as opposed to the numbers. We all have been guilty of getting too damn wrapped up in the numbers, and can lose site of what is really important, like feeling and looking healthier. Good job on your progress! You've done great! -
I'm lost...please fill me in as to what NSV means?

My hubby took me to the store yesterday because I needed a spring jacket. A wind breaker..Anyway he kept bringing me size large jackets and they were too big...Finally he said..I just can't believe this your a medium jacket...I said, obviously in this style at least.. Shaking his head he said he never expected any of these things to happen and the fact that I take a smaller size jacket then him, has just floored him..... I love it when he is shocked at the new me emerging!!!
