Thank you all for you suggestions.. I'm in St. Louis for a week visiting the future in laws... but when I get back to Delaware I'll try the different shakes. I too have strayed away from the shakes since being able to have solids. I usually get my protein from chicken breast, yogurt, egg beaters, cottage cheese, beans... I def. believe that the last fill worked.. I have some restriction.. but I'm thinking that I'll keep my appointment on the 1st to add a little more to it... yesterday I was able to eat one about 1/2 of a lean cuisine panini sandwich (left about a slice of bread) and I also ate about 1/4 of a philly pretzel while waiting at the airport... in my eyes ... not sure if I'm thinking on the right path or not.. but, I shouldnt be able to get down things like doughy bread so easily.. ... on another note.. a HUGE NSV for me yesterday... got on the plane (first time flying in a year) and the seat belt fit fine... as a matter of fact.. I had to pull it tighter... about 5 inches or so of extra belt!! Made me smile...seeing how a year ago I was pulling and stretching and sucking in so I could get it buckled!!

Hi everyone! Ooooh, Kari! What a great NSV! I've noticed the lbs dropping since I can finally exercise since getting my new knees. I'm doing awesome...walking better than I ever have with no aides. It's amazing the little things I can do that I couldn't before. And I don't ache!! I am wearing 1X capri's this summer That's a 14/16. I was at 234 the other day (down 107), but after my TOM gets over in a couple days, I'll weigh again. I want to be in the 220's, even if it's 220, by Aug. 27th when I have to go back to work. I only have 4.5 weeks of my summer vacation left. Sherri Jo - you have NOT lost ONLY 80lbs! You are doing GREAT! Keep it up! That's nothing to sneeze at for a year total Everyone - keep up the good work! I'm off to bed Oh - Leona - YOU GO GIRL!!

    Can you say freakin' awesome???

Absolutely wonderful!!! What an awesome feeling, huh??? Congratulations. NSVs are the best!
  4. OH Juli

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

You all are killing me... D- I do weigh daily and I KNOW not to let it affect how I feel about things. I see it as balance for the YEARS (YEARS I said) of never getting on the scale. EVER. Gee, I wonder how I hit 300 pounds? You know I talk about 338 being my highest known weight, but I do believe I was more. I just realize as I type this I'm nearly 100 pounds lighter than that now. Woo Mother Effen Hoo! So You may not take my scale. I'll wrestle you to the ground if you try. I like the idea of a massage. I have a friend who owns a massage school so I know I could get it on the cheap...but when? There is no time. Really, I'm not too worried about the weight dropping off. I can't be. There's too much to worry about right now...and my ride is cancelled for tomorrow. My ex got offered double time and a half tomorrow and I'm asking for favors with our kid time schedule for school, so I'm keeping Zoe instead of biking. Zoe has started swimming lessons. So while she's doing that today for the first time, I swam laps. I'll do that tomorrow too. See, I'm moving this here body. OH OH OH....today I did 30 minutes on the elyptical trainer and my cadence was so much more quick since biking! Lately, when in the gym I've been doing the treadmill so I hadn't noticed before now. But damn, I'm on fire. See NSV. Oh there are more, like I'm wearing a size 22 now...which is fantastic. My honey can't stop saying sweet things about me...coworkers daily give me props. Really, it's all good. Sorry to leave you out here all alone D. I'll do better tomorrow.

Hey Leona that is AWESOME! We are the same size now! Too bad we didn't live closer together lol we could borrow each others clothes maybe. I totally TOTALLY agree, the key to this weight loss stuff is exercise, your body changes the fastest even when the pounds aren't coming off. Today I bought thong underwear lol, I feel so sexy lol. Sorry if thats tmi lol. But for me it was a great nsv.

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

ok J, YOU KNOW what stress can do to us girls. You need to go for a massage!!! Get that stress out and let that weight go!!!! I was wondering where you were at today, good thing they got it fixed at work!!!!!J, ARE YOU WEIGHING DAILY?????? I would hope YOU ARE NOT!!! If you are, I am coming over there to take away the scales!!!! Personally I think your problem is stress!!! You know how it mess with your periods, so it can mess with your mind and your weight too!!! I think you probably have also gotten a bit a muscle gain from this last weekend!!! A pound or two maybe being built up, and now you are not going to see a drop on the scale but what about other nsv's???? How many of those do you see EVERYDAY!!!! Chin up girlie!! Oh, and I had my Vitamins, shake form, this morning, very very weird feeling. Then I had some minestrone Soup blenderized. About 1/4 c. Then just not interested. Then just now, I had about 1/2 c. refried Beans. This restriction thing sure is WEIRD feeling, compared to what I have been working with!!!! I think I might like it though, I was up to eating way more than two cups of food at a time, and snacking. SO, I do think it was my time. I just hope no more getting stuck episodes are in my near future!!!!

    Can you say freakin' awesome???

That is a great NSV. I love hearing storied like that. Keep up the good work.
  8. Way to go Michelle!!! 40 pounds is huge! Walk into the grocery store, and just try to pick up 2 20 pound bags of potatoes and walk around with them! Not sure how big your kids are, but I was playing with the granddaughters, and had one hanging on my back trying to tickle the other that I was holding, and I could hardly walk...and combined they weigh just over 70 pounds! I used to walk around carrying that PLUS!! I find the comparisons so inspiring!!! Tracy---what new got settled? I think buying the dresses that way was perfect! Nothing of importance changes depending on how much you spend!!! When I got married the first time we did the big church wedding, and his nephew was the ring bearer and he was just barely 4. Somehow during the reception, he was messing around on the floor the way 4 year olds do, and connected his nose to someones foot, and got a horrible bloody nose, all over the reception hall, and his rented tuxedo! Everyone was great about it, the tuxedo lady told me "no problem, blood is so much easier to get out than chocolate cake!" The only thing that really "ruined" anything was that they had made big flowers t put on our car, and had used colored tissue paper, well one of the flowers had gotten wet with shaving cream, and it was attached to my door handle. Not surprisingly my new husband left me to open my own door as we made our escape through the rain of rice, and where the bright red flower rubbed against my wedding dress, it stained it, and 3 different dry cleaner tried, to no avail to remove the stain. Since it was ruined pretty much....my Aunt took it apart, and sewed my DD's baptism dress out of it. Well I think I will get dressed and take the girls to the park before it gets to doggone hot today. Everyone take care, will check in with you later!!! ((((hugs)))) Kat I had a nice NSV this morning. With my DD's new job, she has to be to work by 7 and it is an hours drive. So the girls get dropped of just before 6. I am up with Rick at 5, and he leaves at 5:30, so I just stay up. Some mornings we all go crawl back in my bed, but this morning the oldest wanted to color, not sleep. So the 2 year old was laying on the couch, and wanted me to lay with her. Before I filled the couch, one of the reasons we have this giant furniture! I went and laid down with her and not only did we both fit, we had room for her Bunny, and I could still feel couch in front of the bunny! So not only did we fit....but my arms reached around all of us to realize how well we fit!! I actually gained 1/2 a pound while at the rally, my food choices were extremely poor!!! I found meat kabobs that were perfect for us---actually Rick found them the first night, and gave me a bite. UI was eating a Navajo Taco. His kabob was excellent, and nothing but meat, so it was ideal, but when I got it the next night, it was not tender enough for me. Even he said it was no good compared to the night before! Even with my poor choices, I eat very little of it....so just went back to things I knew I could eat. Like with the Navajo Taco---I avoid the fry bread as a rule, maybe just a piece of the crispy edge, but mostly eat the beans, meat & veggies. This morning my 1/2 pound was gone again, and am back to where I started. My parents are off on their Anniversary trip we gave them. Hoping they are having a good time, today they are on a jeep trip over Black Bear Pass, a 14,000 foor mountain pass! The little town they are staying in, Ouray Colorado, is referred to as Little Switzerland. It is built on the sides of these huge mountains, surrounded by other 14K mountains, lush green in the summer, and solid snow in the winter! After their stay I think they are going a bit further to visit with my Mom's sister. I am taking care of their place while they are gone. And tonight Rick's brother and wife will be in for a few days. They will be staying with my inlaws, not us. I really enjoy them---but am glad someone else gets the company not me!!! Jenn hope you have a great time in Six Flags! I loved going this year knowing I would not have an issue fitting on the rides! I am a roller coaster freak!!! ARD, you are doing so good----hang out---let us know whats going on with you! Josie, Terry---all you lucky ducks meeting up today have a blast and be sure to take and post pictures!!! We will be thinking of you! TracyK---you are over half way there girl---my gosh! That is so cool! You did it at such a great time, while your kids are small, you will be able to enjoy their lives so much more fully, not letting your weight hold you back. Did you have a great homecoming with the little one??

Thank you all for the nice words. I also love to read about the nsv's. I think they are better than the scale moving sometimes!!!!

    Needing some advice!

Thanks! It was a long haul so I know how you feel. I hit several plateaus along the way and had a few gains too but it's all part of the journey. Yeah, blockages are never fun but it sure teaches ya to slow down and chew. I find different textures do it to me if I'm not careful. You're doing great though - 30+lbs gone for good!! My first 30 gave me the taste for more. Be sure to keep track of NSV(non scale victories) as those are just as good as the lost lbs. Yesterday my doctor walked by me in the hall of the hospital and didn't even recognize me - she did the double take thing and said WOW! You look fantastic. I was on cloud 9 for the rest of the day. Good luck on your journey.

  14. Club hopping? (giggle!!) Sounds very fun! Enjoy it, Julie. NSV: Got to 4 miles in 36:31, then 6 miles in 56:31. That is a new record for me!
  15. DH and I went to eat at a restaurant the other night and I went to use the restroom while he was seated. When I came out he was in a booth. YES, I SAID A BOOTH!!!! Well, I was looking at MY side of the booth, (did I mention that it was a booth???) and it didn't look very big to me. I looked at DH's side and thought his looked A LOT BIGGER. So, I decided to scoot the table as I sat down to move it to his side more, but, BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTT, when I sat down, I FIT!!! I couldn't even believe it!!! I never thought I would ever be sitting in a booth and not have my big fat enourmous stomach smooshed against the table so tight that I could not breathe. BUT, there is another but, there was about 5 inches or more between me and the table...WHAT???? with room to spare...I got tears in my eyes and so did DH...what a great great feeling. I was so elated the rest of the night and when I type about it now, I am getting that same feeling. :whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo:Can't wait for the other NSV's that are coming my way very soon!!!

    Steady losers ;-)

WOW! I got my bike back from the shop and had to try it out! I just got back from a 15.12 mile Bike Ride!!!:whoo: 1 hour and 6 minutes... an average of 14.6 mph!:clap2: I only intended to go out for 4 or 5 miles... but I wasnt even winded. So, I thought ok 10 miles... got to 10 miles and wasn't even winded. So, I thought ok, 15 miles. I was still NOT winded at all! breathing well... and hyped up on adreniline BUT if it wasnt for the fact that it was getting tooo dark to ride safely. I could have just kept right on going!! I feel great. So, happy I got started on this. I LOVE my bike! ------------------ Next order of business, NSV -- OMG I had my first Cat Call tonight!! hahaha -- these guys saw me riding my bike -- as they came out of their apartment and totallly did "the whistle" and shouted some kind of "hey baby" comment at me. I was like, "what the hell!?!?" (then I started thinking) I ride in these little bitty short shorts and tank top... I never once thought about what I must look like up on that bike. Half my ass is probably exposed! :omg: i guess they got to see a whole lot of "leg." haha... and mamma must be looking better these days when she is riding around town! I laughed so hard when I figured out the whistling was directed at me! I almost fell off my bike. THAT would have been sexy! ------------- Claud -- well, at least you found a nice guy to spend the evening with... sound like you may want to give him a bit of a chance. I know your heart is in Chicago BUT this guy sounds awfully polite and nice. He would be great to spend time with and just enjoy yourself. BUT I know what you mean, when you heart lie somewhere else -- it is hard to even look at another person. Booboo -- YEAH!! for not killing the mother! haha -- I am glad she finally came around. That probably took alot for her to make that compliment. She seems like the type of person that would have had to swallow her pride to say that one. So, I know must have meant alot to you. Kudos on the tubing!! I was with my 5'2'' sexy as hell Hawaiian friend this weekend. She is GORGEOUS! and she is like "you want to go down to the pool?" I had to have looked at her like she was crazy! I havent been in a bathing suit in over 10 years! in a publice pool since I was 15 or 16! and here she is in all of her perfectly tanned and toned glory!! YEAH... um, that was NOT the day for me to try out sun bathing... I love her to death. Best person ever, but she is like Ms. Hawaiian Tropic... THAT would make anyone feel infearior. Steph -- yeah, I would let them have it too!! haha -- i dont put up with ANYONES crap anymore. or at least I try not to. I just cant handle it. Give 'em hell! I am glad to see you checking in more. I've missed you! Congrats on the awesome day! Make sure not to skip breakfast, it will put your metabolism in SLOW MO for the entire day. Ive been setting my alarm for 5am getting up eating my breakfast and then taking an hour power nap before I have to keep getting ready for work. It helps jump start my metabolism -- so I keep on burning up the food all day. Just an idea!! hehe about "the boinking" of the husband. you crack me up girl. You seem to have a very healthy happy relationsihp with your husband. that is good! Keeps you both young and um..... satisfied??? haha:heh: BabyGotBack! Hey chica! I keep up with you on the boards... I check up every few weeks to see how you are doing and how things are progressing :-) OF course we remember you! You are doing an awesome job with your band. I was plateaued for about 2 months. I've had to kick up the exercise HARDCORE to see results. But I think things are finally moving again! So good to hear from you!
  17. On the way out, I did not make it through the airport without buying Skittles, but I did manage to keep it to 2 servings. As I ran 12 miles the next day, no real damage was done and I did manage to avoid them altogether on the trip home. I ate too much, overall, this weekend though and am glad to be back in my "safe" environment for a few days. Yes, I saw lots of people at the wedding and got lots of ooohs and aaaahs. The weirdest one was my Uncle Joe. Now this is a man who has known me since I was 5 years old. Granted we only see each other 2-3 times a year, but still -- he's real family. I drove separately to the wedding from my parents because I had plans beforehand. Anyway, I walked up to him and he literally had NO IDEA who I was until I spoke to him. He was super embarassed and I tried to help him get over that (because he felt so bad), but it was ultra weird. You know, people like former work colleagues who have only known me in the last 5-7 years, I get that they don't recognize me -- they never knew me thinner. But it is weird for someone who has known me 30 years to not know who I was. I've been this size before. I don't fault them -- it's just very odd. One of the things I struggle with is that most skinny people, and even some formerly MO people, think this is a really "fun" NSV. It's not at all to me. Not at all. I'm trying to identify why I hate it so much. I know that a component of it is pure sadness. Sadness that I spent my 20s so morbidly obese that I'm not recognizable to family in my 30s. Sadness that they only see the physical changes and have no concept of the emotional burden that has been lifted -- yet there's a different emotional burden in its place. I guess, in many ways, I feel misunderstood. Even by myself. I think part of my anxt is that I'm still in transition. Until I lose these last 20-30 lbs and have my thigh surgery, I feel like I'm never going to be at a constant and, thus, all people ever want to talk about is my weight. That's fine for people who understand (like you guys), but it's a burden with other people. I feel like once they've seen me at the same size 2 or 3 times, surely the topic will change. Of course, my problem is that's probably still a year away. I know, I know, poor pitiful me for being such a lapband success! I almost want to slap myself.
  18. Aw, shucks! Thank you! Gotta go run... NSV: Someone asked me for my ID! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! I'm over double the minimum age.

Lifestyle change for Newbies - HELP!

To help answer this question i will share one of my nsv(non-sclae victories). Before banding my attitude was i would rather work out than have to give up my food but the other day as i was trying to motivate myself to go work out i thought "I'd rather just not eat and do liquids today." I did end up going to work out but to me that was a pretty big victory in changing my way of thinking.

    Any one in NW WA

dawneb... Looking forward to meeting you!!! Been a busy couple of days, even though weather hasn't been great. We were lucky yesterday and scheduled our white Water rafting trip for the one slot of time in the day that actually had sunshine, we had a great time. I skipped the rafting last time, feeling more comfortable with my body now. We went on a couple bike rides today, the longest was 7 miles around the airport on the river trail...beautiful!!! It's so great to want to be active, not so worried about if I can keep up. My attitude is changing, a real NSV for me. One little chuckle on the biking...I had to remind myself that it was a good thing that my upper arms were "flapping in the wind". Has anyone else noticed things getting soft and droopy. I told myself in the beginning that loosing the weight would be good enough, I didn't need to get plastic surgery. I'm seeing my attitude changing on that one, I'm seeing into the future and it seems to be full of flaps, jiggles and droops!!!

DonnaMarie - so good to hear from you! You're doing great Congrats on tying the knot, too  I am happy for you that you have such a supportive husband. Keep up the great work! Mary, hang in there with your mom...she's lucky to have you there with her. Sorry to hear she's having so much pain issues. I had the greatest NSV ever today - I was in the waiting room to be called in to see my lap band PA, and the girl that called me in opened the door and saw me sitting there and said "OMG look at you!" super loud in the waiting room. It was so cool! Then I walked through the door and all the nurses and my PA were standing behind the desk right inside the door and they just looked at me and their mouths opened and no one said anything, so I went "ta-da!" They all were laughing. My PA said I'm doing "phenomenal" about 6 times and said I am ahead of schedule and losing more like a gastric patient. He said he was very proud of me. That made me feel so good. Just wanted to share Oh - I'm down 107!!!

    Feb Bandsters July Challenge

Still running around like a mad woman, but it's paying off... I've lost more than I'd thought since my fill! Down by 57.5 total -- 5.5 since the fill 2 weeks ago on July 5th! Now that's what I'm talkin' about!!! NSV for my affirmation: I wear a 26 now, for the most part, which is down from a tight 32 pre-Band. I tried on a pair of my mom's shorts that are a size 20 (from Silhouettes) -- just to beat myself up, really. AND THEY BUTTONED!!! I'd have needed that particular pair in a 22 to really wear, but they totally closed up!!!! Holy crap!!! I know I'm by no means a 22 in most stuff, BUT BUT BUT Mom's size 20 shorts actually zipped & buttoned, too!!! I wore a size 22 over 8 years ago!!!
